  • How to post/configure revaluation of Fixed Assets

    hello gurus,
i want step by step customization for revaluating fixed assets.
    regards,
    anand

    Hi,
For revaluation of asset we have two options available
1.<b>Indexed Replacement</b><u></u><i></i>:In this case change in value of asset is posted automatically at the time of depreciation posting. In this method we have to define index series.Follow the steps given below
    a. Deifne dep area (OR64) In this step we determine the dep area in which we want to manage revaluation of assets.
    b.Define Index series(OAV5)
c.Enter index series in asset class or asset master record(as02) for the specific dep area.
2.<b>Revaluation with Inflation management</b>:<u></u> In this case either we can go for one time revaluation or periodic revaluation.

  • Fixed Asset - Clients out of Sync.

    All:
I am doing a fixed asset migration and I am having an issue.  In the asset explorer I am getting the following message "No postings for selected fiscal year".  I have supplied the system with a acquisition value and a net book value for both book depreciation and ACRS/MACRS.  In the Development system I am getting values for depreciation when I follow the same procedure using AS91/AS92 to supply the acquisition and book value.  I am piggy backing off of configuration done by a consultant and the transport path has since been changed so I can see his transports but cant move them through as the CTS path is incorrect.  I am trying my best to compare the core configuration and get the clients in sync but have not been successful so far.  I am looking for any help and or advice on how to proceed.  Thanks!

  • Fixed Assets Mid-Month rule using non-calendar fiscal months.

Our fiscal year variant is year dependent with twelve posting periods.  For example, period 11 for fiscal year 2007 is defined as 29-Oct-07 through 25-Nov-07 and period 12 is defined as 26-Nov-07 through 31-Dec-07.
Fixed Asset depreciation keys MSTL and NA1 use period control 03 (Pro rata at mid-period).  Period control 03 is currently not configured in our SAP development system.  The IMG help text for “Use of Half Months in the Company Code” states that “You cannot use half periods with non-calendar fiscal months”.
How do USA companies configure mid-month depreciation keys (like MSTL and NA1) and mid-quarter depreciation keys when they use non-calendar fiscal months?

    Mike,
Would be helfpul if you can describe how you resolved the above issue
    Thanks.

    Hello Experts
I would like to carry the revalution of fixed assets for certains assets w.e.f. 01.04.2011 (our financial year is April to March).
Last Depreciation Run we did is March'2011
Our Fiscal year variant is April'2011 to March'2012
We are carrying the revaluation run through T.Code AR29N under "New Valuation of an Asset".
We have choosen the apporpriate Transaction Type and choosen "with depreciation written back" option.
Also, we have choosen the revaluation area " from start of fiscal year - 01.04.2011"
While exeuction of AR29N, we are getting the following error
Revaluation data does not agree with date of depreciation posting
    Message no. APERB023
    Diagnosis
You want to execute the revaluation posting in period 001/2011. This requires that this period was the last period posted by the depreciation posting run. No other period may be posted after that. The posting run for this period is also not allowed to be still outstanding. According to the log table, the last run posted was 012/2010.
    System Response

Is it necessary to carry the April'2011 deprecaition run, if we wish to carry the revaluation run for the month of Apr'2011

  • SBO 2005 PL1 : Fixed Assets

We are deploying SBO in Lebanon - For the Fixed Assets, they have one legal requirement which oblige them to force the Residual Value to one when it's totaly amortize until the equipment or material is not scrap out. How could we force the vaue to one ?
Edited by: Marc Riar on Feb 21, 2008 2:06 PM

    Hi
Start from 2005 SP1 PL75, there are some bahavior change for Salvage value feature.
    1.  Where are the new fields regarding salvage value?
o  Field name:  Salvage Value %
Location:    Depreciation Types form => General Tab
Description: salvage value = APC * Salvage value %
o  Field name:  Include Salvage Value in Depreciation
Location:    Depreciation Types form => General Tab
Description: Control whether to include Salvage Value in
depreciation calculation. Select this checkbox to exclude Salvage value in deprecication calculation.
        o  Field name:  Salvage Value
Location:    Fixed Asset Master Data form => General Tab
Description: salvage value of specific asset
    2.  How to configure salvage value for an asset?
salvage value = APC * Salvage Value Percentage of Depreciation Type
o  Salvage value is always updated automatically according to above formula if transtions trigger the change of APC.
o  Salvage value always takes effect for the whole fiscal year.
o  You can also modify salvage value manually in Fixed Asset Master Data form => General Tab. Change of salvage value will trigger the recalculation of depreciation.
    3.  How to calculate planned depreciation value based on salvage value?
        o  Example I:
APC: 10,000     Useful Life: 10 years     Salvage Value: 2,000
           Depreciation type: Straight-line depreciation
Calclation Method: Acquisition Value / Total Useful Life
Include Salvage Value in Depreciation: Not checked
           Yearly Depreciation Amount =
           (APC - Salvage Value) / Useful Life = (10000 - 2000) / 10 = 800
        o  Example II:
APC: 10,000     Useful Life: 10 years     Salvage Value: 2,000
           Depreciation type: Straight-line depreciation
Calclation Method: Acquisition Value / Total Useful Life
Include Salvage Value in Depreciation: Checked
Yearly Depreciation Amount = APC / Useful Life
           = 10000 / 10 = 1000
    4.  Relevant rules with regard to salvage value:
        a) All depreciation areas of an asset use the same salvage value.
        b) Salvage Value field in Fixed Asset Master Data form => General Tab is editable if and only if Salvage Value Percentage of depreciation type of main depreciation area is not zero.
        c) In Depreciation Types form => General Tab, the setting of
Depreciation Value Limit only takes effect when the Salvage Value % is zero.
        d) When you import a fixed asset master data, salvage value is retrieved automatically according to the depreciation type from the main depreciation area. Make sure that salvage value is not greater than NBV, otherwise an error message will come up in log file.
    5.  Depreciation Value Limit Vs. Salvage Value:
        a) Both are the amount at which the asset depreciation stops.
        b) Depreciation Value Limit only takes effect when Salvage Value % is zero.
        c) Depreciation Value Limit is not considered in planned       depreciation calclulation.
        d) Salvage value is considered in planned depreciation calclulation if Include Salvage Value in Depreciation of depreciation type is not checked.

    Hope it is helpful!

  • Fixed assets addon - question about items...

    Hi,
Does an asset item has necessarily to be inventoried ?? If so, this is not logical to see them in the Audit Report.... what do you think about that ?
    thanks,
    Luce

    Hi Luce,
Stock Audit report is for all stock items which can be found in 'Inventory-> Item Master Data' in the company.
When you define a new fixed asset in fixed assets module,  Financials -> Fixed Assets -> Fixed Asset Master Data, the fixed assets will not be shown in stock audit report because the asset is not a item in item master data.
When you define a assets class from Administration ->Setup -> Fixed Assets -> Define Asset Classes, the asset classes are defined as items and appear in the item master data. Consequently, some items in your system represent asset classes. Using items enables Fixed Assets to be integrated easily with the Purchasing and Sales modules in subsequent versions of Fixed Assets. This integration means that you can, for example, purchase assets using the purchase order and incoming invoice processes.
If you manage the fixed assets on assets level, not classes level, there will be no stock transactions for these assets classes and the assets classes will not be shown in stock audit report.
On the other hand, if you make some stock transaction on these assets classes in Business One core module, the assets classes will be shown in stock audit report.
I hope this anwsers your question.

  • Tax depreciation for fixed asset in Singapore

    Dear all,
One of our client in Singapore want to run tax depreciation in fixed asset module as below .
They want to run depreciation with stright line method pro rata by the year of useful life
and the depreciation will be posted only once a year at the first period of the year that acqusition.
(No matter when they acqusition the asset)
For example : if they do acqusition an asset = 300,000  S$  on any date in year 2009 with useful life 5 years,
the depreciation should be posted as below:
    Depreciation per year = 300,000/5  = 60,000
    31-Jan-09     Depreciation should be posted = 60,000
    31-Jan-10     Depreciation should be posted = 60,000
    31-Jan-11     Depreciation should be posted = 60,000
    31-Jan-12     Depreciation should be posted = 60,000
    31-Jan-13     Depreciation should be posted = 60,000
How shuold I can do the configuration for this requirement ?    Please kindly advise.
    Mary_K

    Hi Mary,
I'm from Singapore. Here's how you will configure the system.
Create a dep area for Tax depreciation. You should create new Period Control Method (AFAMP) where you will assign 06 period control to acq, add, ret, trn. 06 means start of the fiscal year.
After that, you create a "Dep Key" to assign this period control method. Then in the dep area per asset class, assign this dep key to the tax dep area.
The system will default the start of dep for tax the start of the fiscal year regardless of when it was acquired within the FY.

  • Oracle Fixed Assets using Oracle GL

Hello Colleagues,  We have a project that we are busy with, moving from another Fixed Assets program to Oracle Fixed Assets.  We also have a GL program that we use.  My question is, why do I need Oracle GL for Oracle Fixed Assets if I am going to post from Oracle FA to my other GL program?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hi,
it is purely becoz of the design of the Oracle ERP, there is interdependacy on every Module ....
GL is the foremost module that needs to be implemented for configuring any of the subledger applications ......To Implement fixed assets, one needs to have the Chart of Accounts details which can be obtained by creating a Ledger in the General Ledger Module.... Once done, Fixed Asset module can be configured, transactions can be recorded and accounting of transactions could be done in assets module ..... Transfer can be done by your external GL program by performing a customization ......

  • Inflation Accounting on Fixed Assets

    Hi ,
Could anyone advice how to configure for Inflation Accounting on Fixed Assets wherein Accumulated Depreciation needs to get Revalued.
Is there any Notes to be applied in this regard.
    regards,
    M Suresh Kumar

You can use as basis SAP Note 725957 - Inflation adjustment of fixed assets in Turkey
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/725957
The compleet set-up is in there, perhaps there is a version for your own country
    Me setup is:
    03 Local books               (create postings)
13 Local books inflation   (create postings)
    14 = 03 + 13                  (for reporting)

  • Can you accelerate depreciation on a whole class of fixed assets ?

Can you accelerate depreciation on a whole class of Fixed Assets, so that they are written down to final Residual Value in one go?

    Hi Simon,
I know this reply is 6 years since your question but none the less, let me try and help resolve the query.
There are options of manual depreciation and write downs but they are for individual assets.
If there is a legal change that necessitates accelerated depreciation after a certain number of years, you may configure a new depreciation key having a multi-level method that can help here.
If the number of years of life for the asset class in question is not the same for all assets, you can configure two phases in the depreciation key. The phase changeover can be done using the standard options provided by SAP or by using the custom changeover methods using BADI or Exit depending on what business functions are activated in your system.
