Fixed asset class tranfer - P&L Impact not registered

Hi
I need your help.
I am trying to partialy transfer a FA from his current class to another one with a different life time (from 30 to 12 years ) using the ABUMN.
The asset was bought in 2009 and was wrongly associated to a building class which has a 30-year lifetime, now I need to tranfer it to the correct class which has a 12-year lifetime. I'm having two problem when I review the transfer process:
1) SAP is not calculating and charging the difference between the wrong depreciation rate expense and the correct one in the P&L,  so my the net book value still incorrect.
2) SAP is not considering the time already depreciated to calculate the remaining life-time. It's considering the transfered asset as new for depreciation time purpose.
Tks

Correct the values with:
ABZU - Write-Up
ABAA - Unplanned Depreciation
SAP never correct in the current year the depreciation over the old fiscal years.

  • New user to Oracle 11i who needs help on creation of new fixed asset class

    Hi all,
I am new to my Company who is using Oracle 11i. And the Company has a new class of fixed asset and a GL code has been created. But there is no link between the Fixed Asset Manager and the GL code, i.e. depreciation is not linked, additions are not captured into "Cost register", no asset number was assigned in Oracle. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Simon

    Hi.
No, Simon, it does not work that way.
First, be sure that the distribution line has the flag "Track as Asset" checked.
Second, the GL Account to be used on the distribution line must be the one defined, in the FA Asset Category, as the Asset Clearing Account.
In FA, navigate to /Setup/Asset System/Asset Categories. Following, query a Category. There you can see which account has been used as the Asset Clearing Account.
You can use as many Asset Clearing accounts as you which, but normally, all Categories share the same account.
Now reverse the distribution line and cretae a new one with the correct account. Post it, run the Mass Additions Process and you will see the that the addition was created.
    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

The message is this : CBFResourceLoader::GetChildNode      node not found.
    Any idea ?
    Thanks

Check that your Fixed Assets module is in Production mode not Transfer Mode - in the Company Details screen, Basic Initialisation tab.
This is a fairy common log message though and doesn't seem to relate to any one thing - just keep looking for the needle in the haystack...!

  • How to clear all fixed assets in SAP Business One

Client wants to clear all fixed assets and create new ones. What is the best way to do it.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
My assumption is that your customer is using 9.0, is it?
I assume that the reason is because there was a mistake during the implementation, meaning that assets created using the application or using import fixed assets master data from excel are not what the user wanted.
The existing rule is that only assets in status 'new' can be removed, and this is a consistency requirement, both technical and from accountancy point of view.
So if the asset is not in status 'new' , it cannot be removed.
What you can do is cancel all transactions generated for the asset, acquisitions, retirements, etc, starting from the last, transaction, until you cancel the first.
Then you execute again depreciation run, to ensure any automatic posted depreciation is reverted.
This way the asset will remain in the system, but with no value. And you can eneter the new assets that will substitute them.

  • FAGL_FC_TRANS for Fixed Assets

    SAP experts,
We are doing FC Valuation and translation for a  foreign subsidiaries to report US GAAP . ( FAGL_FC_VAL for FC valuation followed by FAGL_FC_TRANS for Translating the group currency with spot/avg  raye for BS and PL respectively). Confiured  BS adjustment account  for translation and the translation difference posted at Month end ( BS adjustment acccount) at month end and reverse it on 1st day of next period. No update on individual accounts.
The  FASB  docs explains that  FASB  amount is to strip off the EX rate influence on the BS numbers of Foreign subsidiaries. ( Group currency amount  of Foreign Subsidiary in SAP)
Gone thru SDN and came to know the treatment to be given to  Fixed assets. Looks like it  need not be valuated  as it sits on Balance sheet long time.  It is not clear . In simple terms do we have to  include Fixed assets and accumilated depreciation in FAGL_FC_TRANS or not?
Answer is yes  for Translation the what rate . How do I derive the correct historical rate as the assets are carried over a long period when we do not update the assets Group currency amount.
Do we do the  translation  for all P&L accounts also?
    Appreciate early replies.
    Regards

    Please see my responses below.
    1. For all BS accounts using Spot rate - yes, the rate on the last day of the month.
    2. For Fixed assets account different rate - same rate applied to all balance sheet accounts
    3. For PL balances separately after ticking the P&L accounts - yes, but this is at the average rate for the month
    4. Do we have to check (tick mark) the u2018valuate period balance only u2018 on the screen for PL? YES
Is the fixed assets GL accounts are to be treated in a different way unlike other BS accounts? - I don't see any reason why they should be handled differently.
The Fixed assets are to be re measured with different ex rate ie Historical rate? - No.  It is the equity that you want to keep at historical rate.
How do I get historical rate? - The historical rate is on the individual postings on the account.  You don't need to get the historical rate from anywhere, as you just leave the historical rate on equity account postings, by excluding these accounts from the selection screen of your Balance Sheet translation variant.
Make sure that for BS translation, you also reverse the translation program entries on the first day of next month.  You don't need to do this for PL translation, as you are translating period balance only.
What steps to be followed to complete the FASB52 and how to reconcile with manual. - All of the above conform with FAS 52 rule.  What do you have in your manual record?  I would eliminate the need for any reconciliation once you are in SAP.  A spot check in your testing cycles should do!

  • SAP B1 Fixed Assets query

    Good Morning,
Could someone please comment on whether the SAP B1 fixed assets add-on would accommodate the following two issues, which one of our Accountants has requested?
    (1)     We are introducing a restoration provision policy that creates a restoration asset and could increase/ decrease the book value of this asset on a yearly basis.  I am looking into the practical issues of booking this and whether the SAP fixed asset register can cope with regular changes in the value of a restoration asset (both up/down).
    (2)     Adding in terminal/residual values for existing assets.
    Thankyou,
    regards
    Kelly

    Hi Kelly
This response may be a little late, but I hope it helps.
The SAP Fixed Assets add-on is very thin, not very deep, and very European (both vernacular and accounting).  For some US clients, it may not work because of shortcomings with GAAP and/or Federal Tax compliance.  I have known this for several years.
SAP asked me to develop a full-featured Fixed Assets addon several years ago.  I have been in the Fixed Assets commercial software business for over 30 years, and developed the solution now offered by Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains).  Our SAP Business One add-on product is now available for both Versions 2007 and 8.8.  It is written using the SAP Business One SDK, so it integrates fully with SAP Business One and has the same look-and-feel.
From a function-feature perspective, it is desinged to exceed the accounting functionality of mid-market products such as FAS (from Sage), QBE, and even Dynamics GP.  It also provides considerable capabilities for managing Assets (Maintenance Contracts and Service Requets, Lease Accounting and Tracking, Physical Inventory, Custodial Control, Component Assets, Property Tax, etc.).
The respondant in February was correct - with the SAP addon you can do what you asked, but you have to jump through a hoop to do it.  With our B1-FAM addon, you not only can do the things you need, and do them in a very straightforward manner, but will have choices reagrding the best way to do them.  Plus, you wil have a comprehensive solution that works as it is supposed to in the US.
Feel free to vist our website at www.B1FixedAssets.com.
    Best of luck

  • Fixed Assets Reporting

    Hi All,
I have a customer who has many company databases and is running Fixed Assets.
They want to be able to print and file asset schedules after each depreciation run for each company.
The current version does not allow printing of the Asset History Sheet, and exporting to Excel adds a lot of extra work to get page breaks and company names on each report.
Has anyone developed a query for this report? I would like to solve their issue by use of a query and a print layout for them
    Thanks

Is this a US customer running the SAP Fixed Assets add-on? I hope not becuase that add-on is not supported by SAP in the US

  • Asset class - GL

What is the meaning of Generate Asset Classes From GL
    Accounts.
Kindly can any one tell me what is the meaning of this in
    detail.
    Thanks
    Nag.

    Hi
This is WIZARD and can do all settings here.  Check the below notes available at nod.
Generate Asset Classes from G/L Accounts (1 to 1)
    In this step you generate:
    Asset classes
    Account determinations
    Screen layout rules
Number ranges for the assignment of the main asset number
These objects are generated in a 1 to 1 relationship to your asset balance sheet accounts. The system enters account determinations, screen layout rules and number ranges in the asset class as control parameters.
Note: Carrying out this step is not mandatory. Generating your asset classes from your G/L accounts is an optional step you can use to simplify the creation of asset classes. If you want to define asset classes without the help of your G/L accounts, use the step Define asset classes. You also use the "Define asset classes" step to copy asset classes. Copying classes is useful for adding to your asset classes, if you generated asset classes from your G/L accounts using the current step.
You define additional account determinations, screen layout controls and number ranges (if needed) in the section Organizational Structures.
    Requirements
You must be able to enter all your asset balance sheet accounts.
    Standard settings
    SAP supplies example asset classes.
    Note
This processing view has 7 navigation levels. The first navigation level is the overview screen containing the generating function. The next 6 navigation levels are detail screens for this overview screen. You have to work through all of the detail screens before you can start the generation of the asset classes in the first navigation level.
The first detail screen (account selection) has to be processed first. There is no hierarchy for the remaining detail screens (no detail screens for the prior navigation level). They are not dependent on each other. You can work through each of these screens independently from the other.
    Activities
A Wizard guides you through the different navigation steps. Asset classes are not generated until you save.
    1. Enter your chart of accounts and the chart of depreciation.
    2. Select all G/L accounts that are APC balance sheet accounts.
    3. The system prepared an account determination for each APC account, with a description that is the same as that of the given APC account.
Add to the account determination by entering the corresponding accumulated depreciation account for each account determination.
    4. Enter accounts for expense, ordinary depreciation, and asset retirements for all account determinations.
In a later step, you can change these accounts for each account determination.
    5. The system created a number range interval for each APC account.
Change the number range intervals as needed:
    a) Change the limits of the number ranges.
    b) Specify whether the assignment of the main asset number should be external or internal.
SAP recommends internal number assignment. You could define the number range intervals, for example, so that the first characters of the asset number agree with the first characters of the APC account number.
    6. The system created a screen layout control for each APC account.
When the APC account has a number that is at most 5 characters long, the system automatically assigns the account number as the key for the screen layout control. If the account number has more than 5 characters, you have to enter the 5-character key for the screen layout control manually. Select the field groups that you want to be optional entries in the asset class.
    7. The system created an asset class with the same name as each APC account.
    Add to the asset classes:
    a) Specify the type of the asset class (asset under construction, low value asset with or without collective management, no special class type).
    b) Specify the default depreciation key and the default useful life for each depreciation area. You can add to this information for more depreciation areas in a later step.
    Caution
You can use the function for generating asset classes more than once. The system uses the following logic when you do so:
First, the system checks whether the company code is already in production status. If it is, then the system creates, based on the G/L accounts you have selected, only asset classes, account determinations and so on that were not yet created. Any existing asset classes are not changed; nor are they deleted and created again.
If the company code is not yet in production, the system checks whether assets already exist for the existing asset classes. If not, the system deletes the existing asset classes and generates them again.
If assets do exist, the system checks if there are also transactions for the assets. If there are no transactions, you can decide which of the following you want to do:
Delete all asset classes and their assets, and generate them again
    Only add new asset classes
If transactions exist for the assets, then you can only add new asset classes. In order to completely regenerate all asset classes, you first have to reset the company code (under "Production Startup").
When you choose the "New start" function, the system does not delete any Customizing objects that were already created (asset classes, and so on). This function simply resets the internal working table for this transaction. This means that after you reset, the transaction is returned to its original state (state the first time it was called).
    Cheers

  • FIXED ASSET Note 113711 - FA ISR Depreciation Adjust. & IMPAC Balance Aver

Hi Gurus, I have a question about this note referent at Fixed Asset , in the next topic:
After release upgrade the import has to be repeated for the new
    release.
Please take the transport from SAPSERVx, path:
    ~ftp/specific/latinamerica/MX/note.0113711
Directory note.0113711 contains the following transports files:
    - For Rel. 3.0F and 3.1 please transport:
    R900246.LD3 (data)
    D900246.LD3 (cofile)
which will create the next objects:
    DEVC ZAA Development class
DOMA ZINDE Domain for INPC value
DTEL ZINDE Data element for INPC value
FUGR ZINP Function group for table maintenance
    PROG ZAAUFW01 MAIN PROGRAM
PROG ZXANLU04 Include with calculation logic
TABL ZINPC Table for INPC values
    I don't understand the sentence :
"Please take the transport from SAPSERVx, path:
    ~ftp/specific/latinamerica/MX/note.0113711"
I don't know how connect at this server for download files .LD3.
    that request the note 113711.
    Thanks for the help.

Thanks for your answer Sreenivas, I have a doubt :
The first part of the note refered at release 3.0 and 4.0.
I have worked the version 5.0, and in the Note 113711 there is a paragraph that says:
"If you want to transport the INPCs values into the ZINPC table, please
AFTER having transported the previous files, transport files:
    R900248.LD3
    K900248.LD3
which contains the INPCs values since 1950.
    - For Rel. 4.0B and after, please transport:
    R900040.LD1
    K900040.LD1
In rel. 4.0B and after, the program uses the INMA indexes tables. There is no need to create a table ZINPC anymore to maintain the INPCs values.
The Index that the program uses is the general one defined in the Inflation Method for the company code for FI. It uses the definive values of it."
My question is if I have download the files *.LD3 for release subsequent at 4.0 because I actually have worked version 5.0 of SAP R/3.
    Thanks for your answer.

  • Credit Note in Fixed Assets add-on

    Hi experts,
I really do not understand how Credit Note is working in this add-on.
    Depreciation(accounting impact):
    Dr                                                                                Cr
    510000 - Depreciation (Personal Computers)        110000 - Personal Computers
So, for my Credit Note is a little bit differen(I am using Credit Note without Vendort:
I want the Credit Note to perform as following:
    Dr                                                                         Cr
    110000 - Personal Computers             510000 - Depreciation (Personal Computers)
My G/L setting in Fixed Assers add-on:
Balance Sheet of Asset Acc. Cost - 110000
Clearing - (for this account,  I have tried placing 110000 and 510000)
    Ordinary Depreciation Acc. - 510000
    But, it does not work.
    Please advice on that.

    Hi Gordon,
I thought this account was for Credit Note purposes but it wasn't.
So, for 1st scenario I tried putting 110000 and then I made a Credit Note without Vendor thought of debiting back depreciated amount into my fixed asset account and crediting the depreciated amount in my depreciation account. The result was unfavorable, it worked out the same way as I did for depreciating my assets:
    Dr                                                                    Cr
    510000 - Depreciation Account                     110000 - Fixed Assets Account
In fact, for 2nd scenario I tried replacing 110000 in Clearing Account with 510000 thought of achieving my goal below:
    Dr                                                                    Cr
    110000 - Fixed Assets Account                     510000 - Depreciation Account
But the outcome was same exactly as 1st scenario.
How can I produce the goal in 2nd scenario, please advice.
    Thank you.

Following points (see below) also taken into account while creating the master data sheet.
also replaced the ',' in the csv file to ';' before uploading and changed the fixed asset mode to 'transfer' in the administration --> system initialization > company detaills> basis initialization.

Mandatory:     Item Code = Asset Class; this Asset Class must be previous defined in the Asset Settings (don't change/delete anything in the item-master data - there are the Asset Classes Z-00u2026. Are stored
Description = Description of this Asset
Capitalization Date = do it like this (YYYY-MM-DD). This columne must be a text format
APC = Aquisition/Procuction Cost; when you have digits after coma please use dot for separation - don't use thousand separators; Example 23444.45
Quantity = only mandatory, when you use the same assets stored under one asset number. Example you have ten equal chairs, so you can handle this with one asset number and quantity ten
Dep01 = Depreciation area; this entry must be previous defined in the Asset Settings
Depr Start date 01 = do it like this (YYYY-MM-DD). This columne must be a text format. The beginning must be the first of the month. Please compare it in this case with the capitalization date
Useful Life 01 = calculated in months (not years)
Remaining Life 01 = calculated in months (not years)
Depr Type 01 = Depreciation Type must be previous defined in the Asset settings
Ordinary Depr 01 = ordinary depreciation; this is the comulated value you can see in the asset history sheet from the old asset solution. When you have digits after coma please use dot for separation - don't use thousand separators; Example 23444.45
Unplanned Depr 01 = unplanned/extraordinary depreciation; this is the comulated value you can see in the asset history sheet from the old asset solution. When you have digits after coma please use dot for separation - don't use thousand separators; Example 23444.45
SpDpAcc1 01 = Special depreciation account; when you use special depreciations and you have it to balance on special accounts fill in this account. This is an exeption - in normal projects not needed
SpDpKey2 01 = Special depreciation; when you use special depreciation you have to enter this cumulative value in this field. This is an exeption in normal projects not needed
SpDpAccu2026 = for further special depreciation accounts; This is an exeption
SpDpKey.. = for furhter special depreciation values; This is an exeption
Optional:     Vendor Code = when using this please be aware that the vendor code is previous defined in the system
all others = you can use if you want. The only limitation is the type/length of these fields
When you are ready with your entries mark from the first free row on for instance the next 20 rows than right mouse key - delete rows. This is necessary to prevent that in the background are invisible signs
After entering in this default excel all your assets, please save it as .csv file. (the grey message - relation to information of csv - please say yes; when you close than excel a furhter message - would you save.. - please say no now
After entering all data please save it as .CSV file. First grey window (format information) please choose 'yes'. Second window (when you close this file) please choose 'no'.
You have now a .csv file in hands right now for uploading into the fixed assets.
This example you can use for a test-import based on the year 2004

The issue was  because of the conflict of Depr. Start Date, Use Life and Remaining Life. After I corrected the data, it worked just fine. The note 876670 helped me to resolve this issue. Thanks to Adam at Toronto SAP Business one support for his expert analysis and suggestions.

  • Asset class does not show any results on the asset history sheet

I have an asset that was acquired on 31.03.10. When I run the asset history sheet for all asset classes, it shows up(under the acquisition column). However, when I run the Asset History Sheet for only that one asset class, there are no results.
Am I missing some config or is this a bug?
    Fixed Assets addon. SBO 2007A SP0, PL48.
Financials >Fixed Assets > Asset History Sheet.
Enter Asset class and Date: March 2010.Click OK.
    The report is empty.

The problem was the asset class name. The character ' is not allowed and was not recognized by the asset history sheet report.

  • GL balances are not matching with Fixed assets ledger

    Hi,
    Please suggest me regarding this...
The issues is:when the legacy balances are uploaded in to sap there was the mistake.3 assets were entered twice(once in asset class 1250 & once in asset class 1300).It causes the GL balances are not matching with Fixed Asset balances(GL is less than FA).so now the client is asking to make manual entry by removing the recconcilation account settings and post manual entry then keep the reconcilation account as usual. They wanted to reverse the accumulated depreciation for the above 3 duplicated asssets for year 2007 & 2008.
How can i achieve the below:
1.GL balance was not equal (i.e lower) to FA ledger even at the time of go live(FI is lesser than FA)
2.For this i need to post one manual entry in FI-GL with the GO-LIVE date.is it possible? suggest me how to post?
3.After that i need to reverse the accumulated depreciation for the above 3 duplicated assets.how can i do this?
4.After that i need to remove the above 3 duplicated assets, how can i?
Please help me by giving your thoughts regarding this
    Thanks
    Sap Guru

    Hi,
It is possible to post the adjustment entry from go live date provided you open the posting periods for the pervious year. (However this approach is not recommended for the following reasons - you have closed the books and must have published the results to local authorities. Adjustment now in the past year can cause some trouble from auditors etc. Secondly you are adjusting the GL balance for the last year, so you will have to complete the period end and year end closing for GL balances. So avoid kindly it)
For your problem - Go to transaction code OASV and post adjustment entry for the current period. Also check if your field status of assets contain field for shutdown of assets. If not change your field status accordingly. Once adjustment is done you shutdown the asset so that it does not post depreciation in future depreciation runs. (this will cater to your need of eliminating the assets. If you retire the asset then you will have to deal with gain or loss on retirement of an asset. If you can accommodate this entry, then you can use this figure in the final adjustment entry.)
Or Go to transaction code OAMK and set the recon account to post the adjustment entry.
Reversal of depreciation is not possible in SAP. So the only way to reverse the accumulated depreciation is by changing the recon account or using OASV, and passing adjustment entry.
    regards
    Thomas
