Fixing column headers in JSF

How do I fix column headers when displaying tablular data using JSF? Currently, when I scroll down the column header disappear.

The articles under the Table Component section will help you

  • How to fix column headers in Portal

    Hi Guru's,
    do you know is there a way to fix the report headlines like in Excel.
    E.g. I have a report with about 2000 rows and when the user scrolls down the headlines are out of the screen and he doesn't know what is in which column.
    So, we know about the possibility to restrict the rows per page to 20 rows or whatever, but then the jumping from side to side takes too much time.
    So, is there a possibility to "fix the cells" like in Excel, so the User scrolls down and always sees the column headers?
    Thanks in advance!
    Sandra

    In 7.0 Analyzer, open the workbook and go into Designer Mode.  Double-click on the analysis grid to bring up the properties screen.  Under the range field, replace the 2nd row number to the row where you want to limit the table.  Then go to the tab called Clipping, select "Scroll and Keep Lead" under Vertical.
    Dunno about 3.5.

    Oops you wanted to do this on web, not the other way around.  In WAD 7.0, open the web template (if you're using standard template, it's 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN).  Select the analysis grid and go into it's properties, change the "Number of Data Rows Displayed at Once" to your liking.

  • How to implement fixed column headers

    Hi Gurus,
    I got a requirement to show a fixed column header in a sql reports. That means no matter how many rows the report returns, when scrolling down, the column headers are fixed and appear on the top.
    Anybody has any comments on this? If I'm not making sense, let me know and I can explain further.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Carl,
    Thanks for responding!
    I just realized that I did not include my name in my prior post, its Kyle, sorry about that. I also do not necessarily have an example code to show you, let me explain:
    I am very much a newbie to the HTML environment. Amazingly, I was able to apply a code that would facilitate a scroll bar in my report. This code was applied to the template called Reports Region in the section entitled Definition, it basically looks like this:
    <style>
    .RegionScroll
    width:950px;
    height:225px;
    overflow:auto;
    border:solid 0px;
    </style>
    My next feat was to figure out how to fix the column headings, here is were….. well basically I guessed. First; I looked at the website describing how to implement this in three steps, to be functional in both IE and Fire Fox. I was not sure exactly were to apply the script provided, so I made a logical guess and dropped it in to the same area as my previous code. When I went to view the page the code line:
    onload="MakeStaticHeader('TableId','150px')"
    showed up at the top of the page (no Java script error presented itself). I concluded that I either have the wrong programming syntax, its in the wrong template and or template section. To complicate matters I have no idea of how to identify the correct TableId. I did look to view the HTML source code of the page, but found several candidates with the prefix "ID=".
    Quite honestly, without a good formal understanding of HTML or CSS programming techniques, I may be biting more off than I can chew. If this is the case then would you be kind enough to point me in some direction that might help me get over this hurdle.
    Thanks again for the response.
    Kyle

  • Fixed jtable column headers

    Does anyone have an example of fixing column headers for a JTable. Basically I want the column headers to be displayed when scrolling down the table.

    check the examples provided in "How to use table" -
    "http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/table.html"
    The tables have fixed column header when u scroll down..

  • Can we fix the column headers of a table placed in a scroll container?

    Hi
      I have a big table placed inside a scroll container.
      The table is so big that both horizontal and vertical scroll bars appears always.
      So what happens is...
         when the user moves the vertical scrollbar down, the column headers move
         up,so that they are no visible, when he reaches the bottom of the table.
    What is our requirement is, even if the  user moves the vertical scrollbars the headers should be visible.
    Can anybody solve this problem??
    Thanks
    Smitha

    hi Smitha,
        We cannot avoid that. but an alternate is that use another table above this table and which has the number of rows as zero. hide the table header for the below table. you need to adjust the header of above table so that it fits for the below table.
    This works fine if the table doesn't have sorter facility.

  • FSG report output does not show column headers (XML Publisher)

    Hi everyone
    Iam required to create a template for an FSG report with 20 columns. Used copy of FSG:Fixed number of columns Template(FSGTEMP) to create the template because i need to do some conditional formatting(need to show negative values in red color).
    here is the problem:
    when i use the template and run the program the output i can see the row data but not the column headers..column headings are blank!
    regarding the conditional formatting, can anybody tell me how to give the condition
    iam able to give the condition for oracle reports but not for FSG reports as i dont see the column name in the 'data field' in conditional format
    Regards

    Open the report in Edit Mode Click on the reports and in the properties section Uncheck the
    Enable Document Cache Property and your issue should be resolved.

  • SSRS 2008 R2 - Column Headers of a tablix visible while scrolling - Then the column headers not visible on 2nd page onwards for PDF EXPORT. it's vice versa. Hence it is possible to provide both at same time ?

    Hi,
    I am using SSRS 2008 R2.
    I have two TABLIX in a report.  One is TABLIX with row/clumn grouping. 2nd one is flat view.
    Here each tablix is dispaly it's data on single page for each.
    My Requirement on First TABLIX is:
         1. I have to make column headers visible on scrolling down
         2. Export to PDF - column headers must be visible on all the pdf pages  for same tablix data.
    But ... either one is achieved at my end.
    so ... any suggestions please to achieve both at same time.
    thank you in advance.
    best regards,
    venkat.

    Hi G.V.Naidu,
    According to your description, the first tablix is matrix to use display data.
    In SSRS, if we want to fix matrix header visible while scrolling and repeat header columns on each page, we can select the corresponding option to enable this function. Please refer to the steps below:
    1. Right click tablix, and select Tablix Properties.
    2. Select “Keep header visible while scrolling” and “Repeat header rows on each page” to enable these function.
    If we are use table to display data, please refer to the article about Repeat Header / Keep Header Visible in Tables.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robertbruckner/archive/2008/10/13/repeat-header-and-visible-fixed-header-table.aspx
    If there are any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me know.

  • Keeping row and column headers while scrolling inside a Web Dynpro table

    Hi,
    I have to display a 2x2 matrix with storage location names on the x-axis (i.e. as Column Headers) and material names on the y-axis (i.e. row headers). The table data represents the quantities of a particular material in a particular storage location.
    I am using dynamic UI generation to create this table. It can contain as many as 150 columns and almost as many rows. I dont want a page level scrollbar, and hence, have placed my table inside a scroll container UI element with a fixed height and width.
    I need a way to let the users use the scrollbars inside the scroll container, but still let them see the row  and column headers. Is there a way that I can do this in Dynpro for Java?
    Thanks,
    Navneet Nair.

    Hi Kenn,
    You are probably better off posting this request in this forum User Interface Development in ABAP as you are more likely to get a response.

  • Column Headers of Masterdata Query

    Hello experts,
    in a Masterdata Query based on an InfoObject there are many Attributes.
    These Attributes are now listed in the Rows of the Query:
    InfoObject
    Attribut 1
    Attribut 2
    Attribut 3
    Therefore the Query will look like this:
    InfoObject        Attribut 1      Attribut 2     Attribut 3
    Company A     New York     USA            Industry
    Company B     Toronto         Canada       Healthcare
    Company C     Mexico City   Mexico        Industry
    Now the problem is, that the real column headers are very long (60 chars) and therefore the column with is too wide so that the report shown in Web Reporting is far too wide.
    Question: How can the column header be separated into 2 or more lines so that each column will not be so wide?
    I know that this can be done with Keyfigure-Column-Headers .... unfortunately the report is based on Attributes (chars) of the InfoObject and not on Keyfiugres.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Column headers and data are mismatched in Data tab of views after move col.

    Hi,
    Currently, I am using Windows XP, SQL Developer Version 1.2.1 Build Main 32.13.
    Java platform 1.5.0_06
    Oracle IDE 1.2.1.3213
    I'm having trouble with display of data from views in the "Data" tab of SQL Developer. If I move a column left or right of its original place, the data no longer line up with the proper column heading. The data are in the correct order, but the column headers are out of whack. Also, in the Single Record View, the data and column headers are mismatched.
    Refreshing the view, closing the view, closing and reopening SQL Developer do not "reset" the view so that the data and proper column headers are lined up. Even dropping and recreating the view does not force SQL Developer to use the proper data-column header match.
    Just to be clear, the data within the view is fine. It is the display of the data-column headers in the "Data" tab of SQL Developer (and the single record view) that is wrong. The mismatch seems to occur after a column is moved in the view.
    Is this a bug? I like the ability to move columns around within the display of the view. However, much more important that the column headers and data line up correctly.
    Thanks,
    Morgan

    Thanks much. I found the correct file, deleted it, and the column headers and data match up again.
    I found the correct file by searching the directory for one of the column names that occurs in the view (though I had to find both instances of "COLUMN_NAME" and "COLUMN NAME" (without the underscore)). Not sure why there were files with both versions.
    Do you know if there is any way to prevent those XXXXXXXXXTableSettings.xml files from writing all together (oracle.javatools.controls.nicetable.NiceTablePersistentSettings)? I looked through the SQL Developer preferences but nothing jumped out as being the setting to switch off.
    Should I be doing anything in particular to bring more attention to this potential bug so it might get fixed in a future release?
    Thanks again,
    Morgan

  • Column headers in forms are garbled

    Hi,
    I have one issue regarding folders in forms. User has set some custom folder on a form with following properties.
    Autoquery = Never,
    Check boxes checked : Open as Default, Public.
    User has set this folder as default folder. When user goes to particular window, he sees some column headers are garbled and not shown correctly.
    I checked user's .fmb file and compared with file on arcs log and did not find any differences between them.
    Can anybody suggest what might be the cause for this? What kind of set up may cause this?
    Thanks,
    Akshay

  • Prob with fixed column widths and word wrapping in viewer

    i have a report where each record has a very long paragraph of text in it.
    In desktop and plus, the text column is at a fixed width and the text just wraps nicely according to the column width.
    But in Viewer, the column widths do not stay fixed, the text does not wrap, and the long text is displayed in a single line that completely stretches the column width off the page and requires a horizontal scroll bar.
    is there anyway to fix the column width in viewer, have the text naturally wrap, and prevent the column stretching. All word wrapping settings are on, but seem to have no effect. I can't seem to find any solution to this.
    Thanks...

    Hi Pritam,
    Per my understanding that you can't see the vertical scrollbar of the ReportViewer controls 2012 to scroll for the grid rows, but can see the vertical scrollbar of the web application, you also can't fix the headers while scrolling, right?
    I have tested on my local environment and can't reproduce your issue, but you have an alternative way to add some css  to the web form's source code to display the vertical scrollbar.
    Details information below for your reference:
    Please check below properties setting of the reportviewer which control the visibility of the scrollbar:
    AsyncRendering="true"
    SizeToReportContent="false"
    Please check if this problem also occur on other version of IE and other type of browser.
    Please check if you have done correct setting of the Fix data to freeze the table header as the step of below:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb934257(v=sql.100).aspx
    If step1 doesn't work, please click the source of webform.aspx and add below CSS to add the vertical scrollbar manually:
    #ReportViewer1 {
              overflow-y: scroll;
    Run the application you will see it display as below:

  • Custom column headers for JTable in JScrollPane

    I want a heirachical header structure on a scrolled JTable. I've successfully generated a second JTableHeader which moves it's tabs with the normal header. If I add the secondary JTableHeader into the container above the whole scroll pane it's does almost what I want, but it's not quite correctly aligned.
    What I want to do is to put both the automaticaly generated JTableHeader and my extra one into the JScrollPane's column header area.
    I wrapped the two headers together into a vertical Box and tried calling the setColumnHeaderView() on the scrollpane, and then creating a JViewport and using setColumnHeader(). Niether seems to have any effect. The basic table header obstinately remains unaltered.
    There seems to be some special processing going on when JTable and JScrollPane get together, but I can't understand how replacing the column header viewport can be ineffective.

    Thanks. I think I've just cracked it more thoroughly, though. [I found this bug report|http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=5032464]. This has guided me to a work-around that seems stable so far. I'm using an extended JTable class anyway (mostly to do with table header width behaviour). I've added a field to my own table class and the following override:
    The trick is to work out where the dirty deed is done, having search all the scroll pane related classes for special casing JTable.
    public class STable extends JTable {
        @Override
        protected void configureEnclosingScrollPane() {
            if (secondaryHeader == null) {
                super.configureEnclosingScrollPane();
            } else {
                Container p = getParent();
                if (p instanceof JViewport) {
                    Container gp = p.getParent();
                    if (gp instanceof JScrollPane) {
                        JScrollPane scrollPane = (JScrollPane) gp;
                        // Make certain we are the viewPort's view and not, for
                        // example, the rowHeaderView of the scrollPane -
                        // an implementor of fixed columns might do this.
                        JViewport viewport = scrollPane.getViewport();
                        if (viewport == null || viewport.getView() != this) {
                            return;
                        JPanel hdrs = new JPanel();
                        hdrs.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
                        hdrs.add(secondaryHeader.getHeader(), BorderLayout.NORTH);
                        hdrs.add(getTableHeader(), BorderLayout.SOUTH);
                        scrollPane.setColumnHeaderView(hdrs);
                        //  scrollPane.getViewport().setBackingStoreEnabled(true);
                        Border border = scrollPane.getBorder();
                        if (border == null || border instanceof UIResource) {
                            Border scrollPaneBorder =
                                    UIManager.getBorder("Table.scrollPaneBorder");
                            if (scrollPaneBorder != null) {
                                scrollPane.setBorder(scrollPaneBorder);
        }I'm hopeful that will prevent the column header view from being overwritten by later layout operations.

  • JTable -showing column headers and displaying multi-line strings

    Hi,
    This is two questions really.
    #1 - Does anyone know why my column headers aren't showing in my jtable using the model below?

    "<html><p>A much more interesting entry</p> <p>on multiple lines</p></html>"

  • Display of  Row and Column Headers in NW2004s Bex Analyzer

    Hi all,
    when I open a query with the NW2004s Bex Analyzer (Excel)Frontend <b>Row and Column Headers are not visible</b>. I need to go to <b>"Tools-Options" and check the box  for "Row and Column Headers" which seems to be unchecked by default</b>.
    Is there <b>a possibility to make the Row and Column Headers visible by default when I open a query</b> so that I don't have to use Tools-Options every time.
    Thanks
    Alex

    This is fixed with SP8. The default template doesn't have this specified in SP7. It's a very easy fix. Just specify that the column headers are specified by default. Then save this new workbook as the global workbook template such that all queries use this new template. You can customize this standard template however you like!
