Fixing Tab Container Dimensions

Is there an easy way to setor "fix" the height and width dimensions of a tab container -- not the tabs themselves -- so that they do not change automatically when a "too large" front panel control or indicator is placed on them? I am using multiple graphs, pictures, text and other itemson tabs and they occasionally change the size of the tab container resulting in a lot of extra effort.

I think you are probably looking for the tab control pane dimension property node. You can also set the Autogrow to false to ensure that when you add an object into the tab control, it does not automatically resize the pane.

Missing triangle on Fix tab

Running Premier Elements 10 version (20110914.m.17521) on Windows XP SP3
In Organizer, to get to 'Edit Video' all instructions say to click on the down triangle on the Fix tab. Problem is my Fix tab has no down triangle See screenshot (click it to enlarge). Anyone else have this problem? Or know what to do about it?

You should have the diamond, but clearly not.
Some questions:
Have you customised font size or dots per inch in Windows settings?
If so revert them back
Have you the latest QuickTime installed?
If not, if not install it.
Have you customised performance settings?
If so reset them

How do I adjust the width of a spry tab container without affecting others on website?

I have a spry tab container with 3 tabs and I want to add more width to the container as a whole, but when I change the width in the CSS styles panel, it affects all the containers on my site. How can I make a change that only affects the one container I'm working on? Thanks!

Components will not assign to tabs in tab container

When I drag a new component (such as a Spreadsheet Table) to any tab on a tab container, it just becomes another object on the canvas (and not included within the tab or tab set).
How do I actually place objects within the individual tabs?

Thanks for the response. I had just upgraded to xCelsius Engage 2008 and had not entered my product code in License Manager under the Help menu.
I had some functionality during my initial use after the upgrade, but not the tab container apparently. Seems to work fine now that I entered the product code.

Tab Container Issue - Graph not plotting.

Hi All,
I am currently working on cost model which is split into two tab containers. the first tab contains the graph (Model) while the other tab contains the adjustable variables (Assumptions). The graph is dependent on the adjustable variables in the assumption tab.
The model was working correctly until 8 additional spinners and check boxes were added to the assumptions tab. Now the elements of the graph (lines are bars) do not plot. The graph is based on the variables in the Assumption Tab.
Have anyone encountered this before? I've checked all my forumals, links for both the graph and the spinners. All are mapped correctly.

Actually I do know already several working solutions, to avoid this problem. You mentioned some of these.
But here I am purely interested about this behaviour. Is this a bug, or this is a normal behaviour? Like LabView saves system resources, so If we do not see a graph on the front panel, it does not update its values? (i mean the cursor values).
So I would like to see and understand whats going on when someone runs this particular example. (so I do not use this in a real project, this is only to show and examine this behaviour).
Also a bit dirty workaround: I could set the first TAB page via property node, when I run the code, so we always get the required result...
Anyone who could explain how a graph works in this example?

Which table containes dimension member names in planning database

I want know which table in Planning database contains dimension member names. I have tried looking at the HSP_ACCOUNT and HSP_ENTITY tables but those have member IDs only and not the member names.
Any help on this please

Fixed tab position in Java

Hi.
I wonder if it is possible to make a fixed tab (tabulator) in Java in order to print text in straight columns.
In the example below I sometimes need to use one Java-tab and sometimes two in order to make two straight columns. But if a new animal is added, I don't know what number of tabs I need to add!

There's no such thing as a "Java tab." A tab character is just a tab character. How it gets displayed depends on the program, terminal, etc. that's rendering it. In terminal windows it generally means something like, "advance to the next column that is an even multiple of 8", so it might advance anywhere from 0 to 8 positions. It does NOT mean (in any terminal I'm aware of) anything like Word's fixed tabs.
If you want columns to line up, you should use formatting.

Installd Ffox 3.6.15. Redo Flash AGAIN? How can I: Tweak 2 fix plugin-container crashes/hangs10X/day,and 2) Avoid need to reinstall Java, Flash,& other media plugins(Flash, Realplayr/Quiktime Alternative, Media Player Classic)? Ffox fan

plugin-container crashes and hangs many times daily all my time eaten up by upgrading too frequently to new Ffox versions, only to find that I must then spend a whole day jumping thru hoops upgrading almost all of my add-ons too.
I now find, to my horror, that the hideous virus-magnet IE 8 is needed if I want to surf at a reasonable speed and not spend all day dealing with Ffox new versions' Known Issues. Only good thing I have seen about ver. 3.6.15 is slightly better launch-times. Since 3.6 cane out, I must spend 10 minutes just waiting for Firefox to load and give me a browser screen. Help! I love you guys, but your core browser developers need to have better comms with the Javaa/flash/Adobe and other must-have add-on people! And PLEASE fix all these "plugin-container" crashes and hangs I get, that lock my machine for 10-15 min at a time. Not everybody has 16 gigs of RAM, you know! I think the "plugin-container" running as a separate process idea might need to be COMPLETELY re-engineered! YOU CAN DO IT! Thanks! I've already used the built-in plugin checker but it gives very vague answers like (research this" and update this" all of which I did, starting with Java and Flash, Adobe Reader, Shockwave, 100% reinstall of Java newest ver. TWICE- but FFox keeps reporting that I only have the FORMER version installed, although when I go to Java console or Check the Flash executable at the MFR's site, there is NO doubt that the updates were successful!
But the browser just seems to refuse to acknowledge the update!
And I don't HAVE 6 hrs/day at the 'puter just to play with add-ons
and plugups. So I'm going down the line now, ripping out extension
programs and replacing/reinstalling/updating the plugins one by
one- even went to M$ to get advice on THEIR For-Firefox ActiveX
stuff. No dice so far. And yeah, The plugin-container WAS made so
that a plugin, add-on or I guess extension app failure wouldn't take
the whole FF browser down with it if the 3rd-party ware crashed. It's supposed to shake it off and go on, kinda like how XP sometimes
restarts Explorer (not the IE browser) so I don't have to reboot the
whole sys.
That was the foundation of my remark about stepping back and
re-engineering the whole "Plugin-container" idea, because it seems
to do more harm than good. Maybe that's why the Firefox core
engine won't recognize my upgrades- for example I TWICE installed the Flash update to 10.2.xx (latest ) and the Flash Mfr's
site verifies my upgrade as a successful 10.2, but Firefox plugins
check say I have a 10.1, the old one. What gives here? The sneaky
PLUGIN CONTAINER, METHINKS!
Now I'm disabling things on the Extensions Apps list, thinking
that might help, like disabling my video downloader and other
download helpers/managers... and I notice that there is a LOT of
Java stuff in there too as well as in the blue Lego Plugins List... and
in the past the FFox always told me if a new version of Ffox was
incompatible with any older 3rd-party app Extensions and notified
me QUICKLY if something I had in there was Outdated. I'm big on
using the neat-o "find updates" button at the bottom if that happens, and usually get a newer version right away. The prob
really lies in the Blue Lego Plugins and their new Container, I
believe.
So Ill still keep Plugin-innin' away! Will post here what success I have! (OR maybe M$ is deliberately sabotaging our ActiveX-cripple

Firefox crashes when I close a tab containing a PDF file; I am running Firefox 3.6.16 on Windows 7 with Acrobat Professional 9.2.0.

This happens systematically if I close a tab or attampt to display something else in the tab which is not a PDF file.

News 1. Mozilla has told me that there will be a fix by the end of the month. 2. I have asked Mozilla to contact me as soon as the fix is available. 3. One table containing DIMENSION and FACT columns ... How to make it work?

Guys, i have a question that relates to OBIEE working with a single table containing both fact and dimension columns.
What is the "best" strategy to get this to behave like a star schema? Following are my questions:
- Should i alias each dim set of columns in physical layer
- Should i alias fact set of columns in physical layer
- Join them in the Physical layer and then pretend they are actually two separate structures in business layer?
OR
Something else?
Please share your ideas how to handle this type of situation.

You can just duplicate the table in the Business Model and separate the Facts and Dimensions, there is an article about this type of design here..

Fix tab title size in JTabbedPane

Now, each tab in my JTabbedPane occupies the whole row because the title is too long. Is there any way to set each tab title size to be preferred fixed size in JTabbedPane? (I can use the tooltip to show the whole string. )

Swing related questions should be posted in the Swing forum.
You will probably need to write your own UI. The TabbedPaneUI has a getTabBounds method you could probably override.
Otherwise just set the tab text manually to be a certain number of characters. You can store the full text in a variable that is referenced by your tool tip logic.

FIX on Sparse Dimensions.

Hi,
I know that FIX can be used on both Sparse as well as Dense Dimensions. But its more efficient when used on Sparse Dimensions. Is there any logic behind...? Coz the functionality of FIX is to restrict the dimensions and members, but why is it more effective in Sparse...?

If you fix on a sparse dimension you restrict the data blocks that must be accessed; thus it is faster.
If you fix on a dense dimension the calculation must go through every data block.

How do I fix tabbing through fields flow in order?

In my form, I have mutliple text field boxes. Sometimes, when I tab through the fields, one is skipped (not in sequence). How do I fix that so the tabs flow in order? For example, when I ask for:
City:
State:
Zip:
instead of going in order, the tab will go to:
City:
Zip:
State:

In the Heirarchy palette, if you change the Tab order No for one field, then rest of the form tab order wil lbe reset. This is a common functionality.
When you go to View menu -> Show Tab Order, it will open up a splash screen with the simple instructions on setting the tab order.
You can select the field in the Tab order palette on the left and drag it UP/ DOWN as needed to move it in the correct order.

How to auto adjust container dimensions

Is there a property I can set on Canvases, Panels, or other containers that would make them auto-adjust their height/width dimensions based on the child components. Basically, I would like for this to happen at load AND during run time. So if you update a Text control in a Canvas container it will resize itself so you can see everything.
Or do I have to write some complicated function to do this?

Sorry, I answered my own question about 2 minutes after asking it. When I got rid of the "width = 100%" attributes from the Text controls it worked. You also have to make sure you dont initially set the width and height values for the container.

WAD Tab container loses tab

Hi Folks,
I'm having a problem with a web app I have created. I have three queries which I want to present on a single web app using tabs.
I have created then three queries in the Query Designer and they all execute correctly.
I have created a blank web app added the tab strip container and create the detail, which consists of a container layout item, navigation item and analysis item for each of the three queries.
The tabs are all linked to the relevant container layout item and the navigation and analysis items are all correctly linked to the relevant container layout.
The web app appears to be correct and no issues are detected using the "verify" button.
However whenever I save and execute the web app the second tab disappears.
I have tried deleting and re-creating the data provider and all the web items to no avail.
I have also tried using one of the other data providers to see if the error is in the underlying query, without any luck.
Any thoughts on why this happens would be greatly appreciated.
