FLAGS in JAVA MAIL

Hi Friends,
I am not able to retrive the flags from the message
m.isSet(Flags.Flag.SEEN) or m.isSet(Flags.Flag.RECENT) always returns false.
I am accessing a pop3 protocol. Everything other than flags is working fine.
Please help me out
Regards
Unmesh

I had the same problem.
I solved it just changing the pop3 access to imap (my mail-server supports both).

  • How to delete message from the fodler of  AOL account using Java mail

    Hello All,
I am using Java MAil API in my application, i want to delete message from AOL account's folder,
when i set the folder as "Recently Deleted" or "Trash" , i get an exception as "folder does not exist".
when i tested , some times mail is moving into Recently Deleted folder, but not every time.
this is happening in both the interface as AOl Interface or my application.
when i use folder.close(true) after setting the flag of message as DELETED. it completely remove the message from the acount.
but i want to let the message be remained in the Recently Deleted folder. what should i do.
i dont want to remove the message completely from the account.I am using IMAP also.

You'll need to figure out what the real name of the "Recently Deleted" folder is on the AOL IMAP server
(assuming it's a real folder and not some sort of "virtual" folder), then copy the message into that folder.
See the folderlist.java demo program as a way to explore the names of all the folders on the server.

  • ADDRESS parse error in java mail

    Hi,
I'm trying to retrieve the mails header and I get following error.
    javax.mail.MessagingException: Failed to load IMAP envelope: foldername=INBOX[uidvalidity:1222323518] : seqnum=1
After digging source code of java mail I found that one of bad address is causing this problem. One of message is having following format of address.
    ("test" R "test" NIL "test1" "test.net.au").
According to specifications (RFC 2060) address should have four component personal name, [SMTP] at-domain-list (source route), mailbox name, and host name. When java mail tries parse this address it throws address parsing exception.
Is anyone have come across this issue? I want to know is there any way to handle this scenario. Since other mail client seems to handle it e.g. thunderbird

I'm using java mail 1.4.1. I downloaded the code from https://glassfish.dev.java.net/javaee5/mail//index.html and I haven't made any changes to code.
I'm running msgshow.java program. I'm not running in any app server or web server.
and following is output from program as i was mentioning earlier it's happening when I try to get the size of the message.

  • How to set the flag of the mail when I read it for POP3

    HI,
    All
I know that POP3 does not support the flags. As per my knowledge the only flag POP3 supports is the DELETED. if i am not wrong.
Now what i have to do is when i fetch the mails programmatically and once i read that I want to mark that mail as read in the yahoo also. means when i reterieve the mails through my client from the yahoo mail and next time when I Open the yahoo account the mail that i have retrieve must be seen as read rather than unread.
Yahoo uses the POP3 Server for the incoming mails the same thing also happens with outlook you can find that outlook also uses POP3 as the incoming mail server and when we reterieve the mails from the yahoo using the outlook by some way Outlook marks the mails on the yahoo server as read the same thing I have to do for my client Program using the POP3 server.
If Outlook does it dispite of the POP3 server there must be some way to do the same thing for the POP3 server using the Java Mail Api.I dont know how to do that thing and mark the mails as read once I fetch them.
    Any Help is appriciated,
    Rahul.

I have tried to access the content of the message using the my program to fetch the mail but still Yahoo does not mark it as the read in its web interface.
so I want to know how to do that. and also want to know that when you are doing same thing for the outlook then it mark it as a read on the Yahoo web mail interface so I want to know how do they do it means how Outlook mark it as a read mail on the yahoo server despite of the POP3 server.
If anybody knows how outlook does that than we can do same using the Java mail Api.
    Regards,
    Rahul

    STEP 1.
First compile and execute the PROGRAM 1 with your USERNAME & PASSWORD. This will send a mail to your own account.
    STEP 2.
Now compile both PART 1 & PART 2 of PROGRAM 2. Then, execute PART 1 - Main.java. This will retrive the mail sent in step 1. njoy! :)
In future, I hope this is added to the demo programs of the Java Mail API download package.
This is for 3 main reasons...
    1. To prevent a lot of silly questions being posted on this forum [like the ones I did :(].
    2. To give the first time Java Mail user with a real time working example without code modification [code has to use command line args like the demo programs - for instant results].
    3. Also, this is what google has to say..
"The Gmail Team is committed to making sure you always can access your mail. That's why we're offering POP access and auto-forwarding. Both features are free for all Gmail users and we have no plans to charge for them in the future."

Is it possible that GMail only allows access to untagged emails via POP3? Or only to emails from the last x days?
POP3 is the older email retrieval protocol (IMAP4 is the more current one) and only has very limited support for folders (or anything but a single inbox, really). It's quite common that POP3 only allows access to a subset of all emails stored by a provider.

  • Can java mail be used for distributed exchange server?

    H,
I am trying to connect to MS Exchange Server to read my mails using Java Mail API.
I have a questions about using it with Exchange server.
We have 6-7 exchange servers in our company and different users have mailboxes on different servers. My internet mail application will be used by everybody in the company.
But while connecting to exchange server using java mail I can only cnnnect to one server and port. What happens when user mailbox is not on that server. How can I use javamail in this scenario where user mailboxes are on separate servers??
    Thanks
    [email protected]

You said that you can connect to Exchange server my you help me with this because i cant connect to Exchange server, mayby you can post me a code example? Thanks

  • Error while sending mail when using Java Mail API

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to execute a webdynpro application which uses the Java Mail API to send emails. The exception that I get on executing the application is :
Sending failed;  nested exception is: javax.mail.SendFailedException: Invalid Addresses;  nested exception is: javax.mail.SendFailedException: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for [email protected]
Can anybody please help me sort out the issue.
    Regards
    Abdullah

    Hi,
Usually one get this error if the SMTP server is configured not to relay mails (a security measure) or the SMTP server need the mail to be sent from a trusted IP or with proper authentication. Some SMTP servers are configured to block junk mails.
Pls check with your  mail server administrator.

  • This is regarding CBMA in SAP PI 7.3.1. I have set up the alert mail using default java mail client.I do receive the alerts via mail. But my requirement is to direct all the mails to Business workplace inbox in ECC.

This is regarding CBMA in single stack SAP PI 7.3.1. I have set up the alert mail using default java mail client.I do receive the alerts via mail. But my requirement is to direct all the alert mails to Business workplace inbox in ECC.
So I need to set up PI to redirect mails to ECC Business workplace user inbox (sbwp). From here rules are set up & routed per distribution list.
Please guide me how I can achieve this requirement.

    Hi,
yes, it is a little bit different. This is the issue.....
But I am not sure if your links will help:
    1) /people/william.li/blog/2008/02/13/sap-pi-71-mapping-enhancements-series-using-graphical-variable
is about a different solution. I do not need to count the number of lines of the source message.
And the second variable is about concat line by line from unbound node to unbound node.
    My issue is:
    Souce:
    Message line (0...unbound) ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
    .    ResultLine   (1..1)
    Mapping:
    =>   ResultLine1
           ResultLine2
ResultLine........          => into UDF to an element  (1..1) in one mapping operation.
So that all "ResultLine"s are included.
The result is explained in the given link for Mail attachment with UDF.
So I am not sure how to use this thread for my issue.
In the comments of that blog Christoph Gerber writes that the new variable feature can only handle single values.
So it is not suitable for my purposes as I have a list of values here that needs to be moved into the target message field.
    2) http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Java/UsingEditJavaSectioninMessageMapping
shows where to find the button "Java section" which is not available here in 7.1
    3) /people/sap.user72/blog/2005/10/01/xi-new-features-in-sp14
too is about the nice little button for Java Section that is no longer existing on PI 7.1 screen for mappings.
So my issue is: How to replace the Java section function with global variables in PI 7.1?
    Best regards
    Dirk
