Flash and Chrome errors

I have been following these chrome and flash issues for over 6 months. All the problems and fixes that have been previously mentioned in threads I have personally tried, some worked and all reappeared within a a few days or hours. I did notice one thing that I am not sure of is and issue. First I have five different computers that run FireFox, Chrome, and IE browsers. The only Browser that always have flash issues is Chrome, and none of these computers have had Flash isssues accept in Facebook. I recently just started having Flash issues with my personal computer this week, and only since Facebook forced their new Timeline on my account. It seems that this issue has to be a registery error. Still trying to find out what it is but restoring to an earlier date fixes the error until a crash in facebook causes the error to reappear.
My question to everyone is, has anyone found a concrete fix for this error. With the thousands of people that have had these issues, you would think that this error would be found. FireFox and IE are reducing their browsers to run like Chrome, and these crashes will start appearing in the other browsers.
Uninstalling Chrome, and Shockwave Flash, removing from registry all entrys, and reinstalling both also fixes the error until it reappears from a facebook crash.

We'll need more specifics to be able to track this down.  I use Chrome as my primary browser on 5 different computers (both Mac and Win) and I don't see these crashes.
If you'd like to help us figure your crashes out and you have crash reporting turned on (Chrome settings -> Under the hood -> Automatically send usage statistics and crash reports to Google checked) please type "about:flash" in Chrome's address bar.  Paste the contents of this page into your reply and we can go from there.  Please note we'll need more specifics than just that (including steps to reproduce, specific URL's, etc.) but that could be a starting point to see if your crashes are already known.

    Nicole,
    I am sorry to hear you are having problems logging in. I just tested this function on Safari and Chrome and had no problem. Can you tell me about the systems that are experincing the problem. What OS? What Broswer? What version of Flash is installed? Are the systems individually managed or managed by a central IT group?

  • I continually get a Java error. I've uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and nothing has helped. I've updated flash and Java.

    I have used Firefox as my default browser for many years. I've recently started getting a Java error message. It pops up continually. I have updated flash and java. I have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox and nothing has helped. I have had to start using Chrome instead of Firefox which I don't care for but I don't have the java error with Chrome. How do I fix this problem? The error reads as follows:
    Java Script Application
    Error: syntax error

    Your '''JavaScript''' error has nothing to do with the Java plugin . It is likely caused by an added extension (the earlier forum threads [/questions/944619] and [/questions/943088] mention disabling or updating the Social Fixer extension will resolve the problem).

  • Flash Problems after 45 seconds: Firefox, IE and Chrome

    On Firefox I get "The Adobe Flash Plugin has crashed." Send Crash report.
    On IE and Chrome the brower locks up.
    All of this happens 45 seconds into  viewing videos (FoxNews website.)
    Here's what I've tried, none of which helped.
    set dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs -1
    Turned off the firewall and antivirus.
    Named the website a trusted site.
    Uninstalled and reloaded (No error messages or lockups doing installations.)
    Adobe Flashplayer 10.1.102.64
    Adobe Shockwave Player 11.5.9.615
    My system in Windows 7 64 bit.  The browers above are all 32 bit.
    Webroot Antivirus with Spy Sweeper
    I've read through the discussions below, but most of what I've learned is that many folks are having issues and that  Flash seems to be very buggy.
    I've no problem watching  video on many other websites such as Hulu or You Tube.

    Try to
    disable Hardware Acceleration (Flash Player Settings)
    update the device drivers for your graphics/video/display adapter
    But if it happens only on one specific site, then something may be wrong with that site.  (E.g. with all that scripting they are doing to prevent people from outside of their country to view their contents.)

  • Installed newest Flash Player, "An error occured" message on most Youtube videos and other media not working

    After installing the newest version of Flash Player, on most YouTube videos I try to play the message, "An error occurred. Please try again later." comes up. Also, on websites like Tumblr other media, like audio and videos uploaded there, don't play at all - it's just a blank white space where it should be. This all works fine in Chrome.
    I've tried everything I can think of - I cleared the cache and removed cookies, updated all plug-ins, uninstalled and reinstalled both Flash and Firefox, disabled Ad-Block, ran it in Safe Mode and private browsing, restarted my laptop a couple of times - but none of it worked.

    Thank you, fixed it.

  • Flash not working in Safari (and Chrome and Firefox) - possible solution

    Yesterday my Mac crashed (actually when I was away from it) and when it rebooted, Adobe Flash would freeze any web browser it ran in (Safari, Firefox and Chrome - which surprised me as I thought it used a different version of Flash). Great with so many live-blogs happening in the world of news right now.
    I tried all the usual suspects:
    * Deleted browser caches;
    * Uninstalled Flash (Adobe have an uninstaller available) and reinstalled the same version;
    * Uninstalled Flash and reinstalled the newest version;
    * Made sure I had no duplicate fonts (I did) as I'd experienced problems with this with an iPhoto upgrade;
    * Checked recent upgrades (iWeb and Camera updates) to see what they installed (nothing dangerous);
    * Fixed permissions (they needed it);
    * Tried running Safari under 32-bit (didn't think that would work as I hadn't updated Flash itself);
    * Signed in as another user.
    None worked.
    As a last resort, I downloaded the latest version of the Onyx utility (freeware) and ran the Maintenance scripts, then, under Cleaning, deleted System cache, User cache, Internet stuff (left the cookies), and Font caches (you'll need to Close all the dialog boxes then Restart at the end). Expect a long reboot.
    That worked.
    It may not work for everyone but may for someone.
    Scott

    I was having the same issue. I logged into another account, a plain no add-ons account and found that I could view flash content with Safari OK. That mean that there was some preference file in my primary account that was the culprit.
    Here's how to cull out the bad apple (pun intended):
    Trouble Shooting Preferences
    Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Preferences folder (in its entirety) to the Desktop and make a second copy of it so you have Copy A and B. Now try the the process again and determine if problem is fixed.
    If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up.
    Open Copy B on the Desktop and select all of the items inside. Drag them into the open new library folder. When the Copy window comes up check the Apply to All check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here. That will keep the new files created and bring back all of the others.
    If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the intact Copy A folder back to the Library folder .
    This cleared it up. I ended up with 16 items that were not put back in the preference folder.
    Hope this will work for some of you.
    Do you Twango?

    See [[Text Zoom]] and [[Page Zoom]] and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Zoom_text_of_web_pages
    You can try if it works if you disable OOPP (Out-Of-Process-Plugins) for Flash

    Create empty HTML file, download swfobject.js: http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/downloads/list

  • Silverlight no longer works in FF? Error says it's the fault of Silverlight and to reinstall. Did this 2 times and same error! Silverlight works perfectly in Opra, Chrome, Safari and IE. What gives?

    Just today this happened. Netflix all of a sudden locks up, tried to reload and get error saying it's Silverlights fault and to uninstall/reinstall. Did this and updated Silverlight 2 times. Same issue. Works fine in Safari, Chrome, IE and Opra just fine. Conclusion, FF is at fault not Silverlight. Any fixes for this?

    So it appears Silverlight is working again, sorta. It does load Netflix movies but locks up about every 5 min's, which is totally annoying, then Firefox locks up and I have to ctrl alt delete to close it. I'm really starting to wonder about Firefox. Used to be the best browser, now not so sure. =(

    Here's my website where the problem is occuring www.bakercreative.co.uk
    As you can see the Flash buttons animate, but when clicked they should go to a new html page.
    I've tested it in IE8 and Firefox without any problems but it's not working in IE7 and Chrome.
    Does anyone know what the problem is? Could it be the html code or the flash file itself?
    Thanks

    Hi, Glad you were able to solve that issue with the buttons and Chrome. Any small thing can cause big problems!! LOL
    I'm sure IE7 will test out ok, IE6 did Your website is very nice and has a variety! I hope it all comes together for you.

    why does adobe flash not work in my firefox. i have down loaded it several times. it will work in explorer and chrome.

    IE uses a different version of Flash than other browsers use. You need to install the Plugin version of Flash for Firefox.
    1.Download the Flash setup file from here: <br />
    [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. <br />
    Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
    then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.

  • Flash content and footer errors in SOME browsers

    Hi
    I am designing a web site for a local tattoo artist, but am having issues with the gallery.
    I am using svBuilder-Pro which is an upgrade to the bit built into PS/Bridge. The advantage is that it produces a nice slick flash gallery, but puts up something in Java script if there's no flash to be had eg iPhones etc.
    It work perfectly in FireFox and Opera, but in IE, Safari and Chrome the gallery goes over the top of the fixed footer.
    http://www.tattoo-bristol.co.uk/tattoo_gallery/gallery.html
    If anyone can shed some light on this it would be great.
    Many thanks

    Hi Nancy
    I had never had any thing to do with the z-index before, and I have a much better understanding of what it does now.
    In this specific application, however, I have made the z-index of the footer 500 to ensure that it is massive relative to the other divs. I have also made the div that contains the 'viewer' z-index: 1 and given it various types of position eg fixed, static, relative, but still it stays over the the footer and also the spry nav drop downs.
    I have just downloaded the latest version of 'simple viewer-Pro' and re-made the gallery applying a transparent background at this seems to have sorted the issue.
    I am very grateful to you for taking the trouble to help me, and have learned something new which will doubtless help me in the future.
    Many thanks
    Ralph

  • Flash Player constantly crashes on Firefox and Chrome, works on Safari

    Hello!
    This is my first time posting here. I've been working on this all day and have made NO progress.
    I'm on a Mac OS X 10.9.3 (this was also happening with 10.9.2, I applied the 10.9.3 update today hoping it would make difference).
    ANY version of Flash Player I've installed today has worked fine on Safari, and not worked on both Chrome and Firefox. I've uninstalled reinstalled both Firefox and Chrome many times. Both browsers are up to date (Chrome v34, Firefox v29). There are no logs or anything ever.
    The plugin runs for a little bit then dies. I've tried reverting to version 12, and version 11, neither made a difference. I've done the whole disable the pepper plugin with Chrome and had Chrome using the other one I had installed. No difference.
    I'm OUT of ideas and can't find any other information or help with this. PLEASE HELP!

    Your issue is distinct from the original poster's issue about a crash on Mac.  I've branched this out to a new thread so that we're not confusing everyone.
    Firefox on Win8 isn't very stable.  We're collaborating with Mozilla on improvements, and my test results with the daily development builds are really promising, but it will be a few more weeks before they actually make it to production releases.
    In the meantime, you're way better off using IE or Chrome.
