Flash and Chromium + Sound (ALSA) issue~

I am not able to find out why, but once in a while sound within flash will stop in my Chromium, and I need to shut down the browser and open a new one. It's annoying since I keep browsers open a long time with important websites open etc.
Does anyone have this similar problem? It appears to only happen with flash and everything else works fine.

Ok, used your config as ~/.asoundrc and the problem changed.
Now there's sound but occasionally the sound in flash get's stuck in something like intervals of the length of a second.

Flash and XML data loading issue

I have this SWF that loads 2 XML files that controls 2 different areas of the SWF. I am using this code because I have stacked layers and when this was 2 seperate SWFs I couldn't use the SWFObject because of the wmode quirk in FF. So my issue is when you first load this it seems to only load the slideshow (left side) and part of the right menu and then on refresh it loads the rest of the menu - how do I get it to load everything at once? I have attacehed all of my files.

Flash and IE 7/8 Issues

Are there any known issues on PC or Mac with IE 7 or 8 allowing Flash elements to play, like movies or websites, and if so, what are the work arounds? I have a site we've built that the Flash movie appears in FF but not in IE. The IE screen appears white. When you rollover the movie area the white box boundary appears, but not the movie itself.

Flash and Realtek Sound Manager

I have finally got sound to work again for flash videos in
firefox. I went to control panel and clicked on sound effect
manager. I changed the sound environment to generic, it used to be
set to none. But the sound is echoed on generic. When i click on
none, there is no sound. There is no other normal setting for
environment. If there was a normal settings that worked, my sound
would sound normal. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have the same problem - does it require a realtek driver
update? Tried reinstalling the flash player. May have to revert to
an older version of the flash player.

Apple TV Screen Flashing and Sound going out

I just bought an Apple TV 3rd Generation from a friend and just set it up. I open Netflix and start to browsing movies and playing them, the thing is that sometimes the screen starts flashing and the sounds goes off, or sometimes the screen keeps palying but the sounds goes off. I don't know if this has to do with my HDMI or with my WiFi network. Does anyone have any clue?

I have the exact same issue. Have also unplugged the unit - both HDMI and power. This seems to resolve the issue temporarily, but it comes back after time. The unit worked flawlessly for about the first 45 days. Not sure why it started to act up now. Nothing changed in terms of settings or equipment.

Ipod screen flashes and chirps ???

I have a 20GB click wheel Ipod. Last night it just started to make a high pitch sound and then changed to a screen flashing and chirping sound simultaneously? The flashing and chirping continued and I could not do anything. It was basically frozen, then I connected it to the fire wire port and the apple logo appeared and it seemed to fix itself. The battery was dead, I don't know if that was a symptom. I restored the Ipod and I'm waiting to see if it happens again when the battery is dead. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Using Flash and HTML with Sound

Hi All,
I'm a bit of a beginner when it comes to Flash and want to
start using it a bit more but I'm in 2 minds as to which way to
build my site.
I would love to have the functionality still of html and
place the odd bits of Flash in on the site or just create a flash
site but place each page into a seperate html page but there are
issues with the sound. I want ongoing music to be playing but the
tutorials I have looked at seem to lead to a stop start problem
when the visitor clicks from page to page. I want to make it a
search engine friendly as possible which is why one of my options
is to put build seperate html pages for my Flash instead of having
just one.
There may be some coding issues with a couple of pages that
link into databases and I would have to link these pages to pure
html pages for functionality purposes but this would need to be
done either way.
Can anyone advise which way I should go with this and if
there is a solution to the stop, start sound issues with loading
individual pages.
Any help or advice would be hugely appreciated.

Flash crashes sound and prevents sound from being used on the entire computer

Hi everyone,
I have been using firefox all my life and have been running into the following issue recently.
Whenever I play flash games (such as chess.com), after a minute or two the sound stops working. At first I thought it was just the website, but I would navigate to a youtube video that used flash and it would crash after 1 second. I then tried to play a song locally and it said that I was out of memory, which I doubt since I have 16gb of RAM. I tried running chess.com on IE (sadly) and everything worked fine.
I am starting to run out of ideas. I have reinstalled firefox and flash. Any debugging information that I can provide, just let me know how to get it for you.
Some info about my computer/setup:
Windows 7
Firefox 34.0.5
Shockwave Flash 16.0.0.235

Update:
I am now experiencing similar issues on my Windows 8.1 box. This might be caused from a windows update. Will update if I find out more

It's related to your video card drivers. You can tell Flash to not use hardware acceleration. This might solve the issue. You also might want to make sure you're running the latest available drivers for your hardware.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

Flash Player linux, grey box issue (youtube vids and some applets do not display)

I posted this question on my distro-specific forum as well as linuxquestions.org, however it appears to be a unique problem, so here it is:
When viewing videos on youtube.com, most other websites, and when trying to run certain flash games, the flash applet will not display (though the audio will play). Instead of displaying the flash applet, there will be a grey box where the flash video or applet would normally be.
This problem occurs on Firefox and Chromium, but not on Opera.
My Specs are as follows:
Distro: PCLinuxOS 2010 (32-bit)
flash-player-plugin: 10.1-2pclos2010
firefox: 3.6.6-1pclos2010
swfdec has never been installed (to my knowledge)
I did a lot of investigating about the problem but have turned up no solutions thus far. Here are my results.
Flash videos and applets which allow access to the settings menu (like youtube played from their website) do not display, however flash videos and applets which do NOT allow access to the settings menu (including youtube videos embedded in other websites) WILL display.
Reinstalling flash-player-plugin and firefox through synaptic does not solve the problem (though note that PCLOS works with rpm files, not deb files. apt4rpm does not support the remove --purge operation, however reinstalls are said to overwrite custom configs with stock ones.)
Creating a new firefox profile and/or starting FFox in safe-mode does not solve the problem
Creating another user and running FFox from that user will properly display flash videos
Comparing default plugins between my main user and new user shows that there is no difference. So this likely rules out a defective extension or plugin binary.
Deleting ~/tmp/plugtmp* folders when FFox is closed does not solve the problem.
Removing the ~/.macromedia and ~/.adobe folders does not solve the problem. (have checked permissions between the new test user and main user, and they are equivalent)
Downloading libflashplayer.so from the Adobe website and copying it to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins has no effect on the problem.
I'm thinking that there might be somewhere else that flash stores configurations for my user, and that maybe the settings there are corrupted and would need to be purged. However frantic googling has turned up nothing useful so far.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

The problem, at least in my case, was QtCurve's opacity. If I have opacity set to less than 100%, flash would not display for sites like Youtube and Vimeo, but worked elsewhere.
The solution for me was to go into qtcurve's settings, and put npviewer.bin in the application exceptions section for window and menu opacity. Doing that, I was able to keep my transparent menus, and also use flash everywhere.
You can find out what the application name is by launching your browser of choice in a terminal with qtcurve debug turned on, like so:
QTCURVE_DEBUG=1 firefox
If you watch through the lines that start with "QtCurve" you'll see "Application name". Look for the one that shows up when you try to load a video. In my case it was npviewer.bin. In yours, it might be nspluginviewer or something else. If you add an exception for that specific application, you'll fix your problem without having to compromise on your theme.

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
1. If you've recently plugged anything into the audio-out (headphone) port, plug and unplug it a couple of times.
2. From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Sound ▹ Output
Check the settings. The internal speakers should be selected as the output device, the Mute box should not be checked, and the volume slider should be at least halfway to the right.
3. Look inside the headphone port. If a red light is coming from the port, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a headphone mini-stereo jack of the proper size.Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
4. Boot in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime. It will take much longer than usual. You don't have to log in; just reboot as usual (without holding any keys) when the login screen appears. (Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.)
5. Reset the NVRAM.
6. Reset the SMC.
7. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data as a precaution. You won't need your backup unless something goes wrong.
8. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to bare metal from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

No sound with Flash and flash players..

I've just installed Flash 8 and the player for my intel based
mac and the sound worked for a few hours, I could hear sound both
in the fla and swf, but then suddenly it didn't work and there is
no sound with Flash at all, not through a browser or anything (all
other file types and sound in general work on machine). Very
frustrating, any ideas of what can cause it? I've reinstalled Flash
and no luck so far and it's HOT and sweaty in Oslo..
