Flash builder 4 no run or debug

Greetings.
Thank you for completing a very interesting technology.  I am currently evaluating Flex platform to see if it is something I can rely on in the future when considering a RIA platform.
I started with Flash Builder beta 2 about a week before final release came out.  All worked well as I was going through "flex in a week" series.
However, when moving from a trial to the final release I do not have "Run" and "Debug" buttons any more. I uninstalled beta first.
Both times I downloaded a plug-in version for windows.  I tried installing twice; first into an existing eclipse environment (Zend Studio) and after it didn't work uninstalled and tried with bundled version of Eclipse.  I have not tried downloading a standalone version yet.  The only way to see the result is through "Export release build" which is OK for final preview but is impossible to debug.
I checked perspecitive customizer to see if the buttons were simply unchecked from the toolbar but they are nowhere to be found in the list.
I also noticed that my workspace changes are never saved and I always have to open all the views over again each time I start the application. Do not know if this is related.
How can I get back the debug and run buttons?
Thank you for any suggestions.

Try "Reset Perspective" in your Window menu.

  • Flash Builder 4 beta 2 Debug deployment

Flashbuilder hangs nearly very time I try and deploy (via debug) my _trivial_ application (see http://anirudhs.chaosnet.org/blog/2009.10.12.html for the tutorial i'm trying to follow). Flash builder goes in to a 'Building workspace' mode and stays at 0%. I have tried restarting flash builder, restarting computer, reinstalling flashbuilder, etc all to no avail. It has worked _once_ in about 20 attempts. I have switched off 'Build Automatically' for the workspace, to no avail. While I don't get the 'Building workspace' message, it pops up the browser window and then the browser window just sits there. The browser never loads the app. I've tried this using chrome and firefox. After force quitting flash builder the flash application comes up in the browser.
If I choose to run the app, rather than debug it, it appears to work consistently. I installed the 'debug' version of flash player 10 (as directed when I first attempted to debug the application) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html#fp10.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bob

As always, 5 minutes after posting I think I figure out the issue. On that one attempt that worked I set various breakpoints trying to debug something. On subsequent attempts to debug the app, flash builder never opened up the debug perspective (even though during that previous session I said to always open it up). I guess flash builder was sitting at a breakpoint waiting for me to do hit the continue button. After clearing all my breakpoints debugging worked. Of course, I can't reproduce the issue anymore.. even after setting a number of breakpoints flash builder is always taking me to the debug perspective now. I guess I just havn't found that 'magic' breakpoint yet since this (flash not opening debug perspective when hitting a breakpoint) has happened to me twice - the initial install and subsequent install of flash builder - while trying to debug the same issue...

  • Flash Builder 4 - Run/Debug toolbar disabled

    Hello
I have worked on my FLEX project for several weeks now. I have the need to have a Team Share now, as other developers will collaborate on this FLEX project.
I setup SVN and was able to check in changes and verify the changes on the SVN server. That works well.
I noticed now that I cannot run or debug the project at all. The run/debug toolbar buttons are disabled.
When I view the Run/Debug settings under Project Properties, it is empty.
What must I do to get my project back into debug, and the ability to even run it??? Help??

You're in the SVN Repository Exploring perspective, which looks a lot like the normal Flash perspective, but it isn't quite the same.  Go to the Window menu and choose Perspective -> Flash.

  • Flash Builder 4 Run Problem

When I Run a project in FB4 sometimes I have this weird problem where the changes I have made do not show up in the project I have just ran.  I can do something as simple as changing a label or complex as changing some AS code and it still has this problem.  I am not sure if it is random or what the issue is.  Has anyone else encountered this or have an answer as to why it might be happening?  Thanks in advance!

I've recently been experiencing an abnormal number of occurrences of this error and Google directed me to this thread. In response to your question, here's the Error Log message that gets added when the "internal build error" occurs:

Any ideas? Could I provide you with any more information to help track down the problem?

  • Flash builder 4.7 iOS Debug Binary (IDB) component  is not installed.

I get the error below consistantly. Is the IDB supposed to be part of the flex 4.6 sdk or part of an air sdk? (I've not seen it in either)
Some components required to launch the application were not found. Please reinstall the AIR SDK and try again.
The iOS Debug Binary (IDB) component  is not installed.

    Hi ,
Flex SDK 4.6 has AIR 3.1 which doesn't have the support of IDB. So, if you wanted to use USB debugging for iOS, please create an ActionScript Mobile Project which has AIR 3.4 that supports IDB, else download the AIR SDK 3.4 and overlay it on Flex 4.6 SDk.
    AIR SDK download link: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html
Overlay help document link : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/how-overlay-air-sdk-flex-sdk. html

  • Changes to .fla don't show up in Flash Builder run

    All,
So, I've been developing applications in the Flash Pro IDE, and I've decided to try and use Flash Builder 4's advanced coding tools to make things a bit speedier and to help in profiling and debugging.
The applications I'm looking at creating generally have a lot of complex  graphic elements, and a lot of timeline based animations. So, I still want to use Flash Pro as my drawing/animation tool, but use Flash Builder to test, profile and debug the ActionScript code.
I've successfully created a new "Flash Professional Project" in Flash Builder.
It is a very simple project consisting of a Main.fla
The first time I ran the Project (using the actual Flash Builder "Run" and not the "Test Movie in Flash Professional"), everything went smoothly.
I was also able to use Flash Builder's "Debug" to successfully debug the application. (Again, not the Flash Professional Debugger).
So, I wanted to see how/if Flash Builder updates the project if I make a change to a graphic within a .fla file in the project.
With both Flash Builder 4 and Flash Pro CS5 open, I opened Main.fla and just drew a square Shape on the stage.
I saved Main.fla, and then went back to Flash Builder.
I hit F5 to refresh the project, but when I attempted to "Run" the Project, a new browser window opened, but the square was not displayed.
Same thing happens when I choose "Debug".
How do I get Flash Builder 4 to update the project so any graphical/animation changes I make in a .fla will be reflected when I Run/Debug in Flash Builder?
When I hit "Run", Flash Builder opens the "bin-debug/Main.html" file in a new browser window. So, I assume this is the file that is not getting updated... or more accurately... the "bin-debug/Main.swf" that the .html file loads.
    Thanks!

    Hi, Hammer Chick,
Here are two recent threads where other users have reported
    similar problems:
    "Multiple/broken/repeated
    listings in Search results"
    "Double-entry
    Search results!"
    So the proposed solutions are:
    1) Make a backup of your project, and then rename the .cpd
    file and reenter your project.
    2) Try creating a new single source layout.
    3) Check the hyperlinks in your topics for any that
inadvertently point to target topics that are above the root folder
    of the help project.

  • Air debug luncher dont lunch in flash builder 4.6

    hi
i am using adobe flahs builder 4.6 for create air aplication,There are a few days adobe flash builder dont run adl , but adl added to proccess and dont view compiled application, please help to solve this problem
i'm Sorry for weak English syntax

    DONE!!!
OK. I followed the instructions on this page:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flex/mobileapps/WSa8161994b114d624-33657d5912b7ab2d73b-7fdf.ht ml#WSa8161994b114d624-33657d5912b7ab2d73b-7fdc
    Especially this part:
Important: If Windows is still unable to recognize your device, you need to install the appropriate USB driver from your device manufacturer. See OEM USB drivers for links to the websites of several device manufacturers from where you can download the appropriate USB driver for your device.
    Which took me to:
    http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html
    That means that:
You have to install the USB driver for connecting the tablet. As Sony didn't release it, you have to use the generic Android USB driver. Follow the instructions to do so, then restart the computer, and voilà.
    Hope that helps

  • Problem running Flash Builder on OSX 10.8.3

    Hi,
I am having no luck getting Flash Builder to run under OSX. I have tried reinstalling the JDK and JRE multiple times but I still get this message every time I attempt to start the application.
A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) must be available in order to run Adobe Flash Builder 4.7. No Java virtual machinewas found after searching the following locations:/Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4.7/Adobe Flash Builder 4.7.app/Contents/MacOS/jre/bin/javajava in your current PATH
Does anyone have any ideas how to overcome this issue?

I just installed 10.8, can't get FB to work either. Did you resolve this issue?

  • Creative Cloud Flash Builder 4.6 running in Standard version

After upgrading Creative Cloud and installing Flash Builder it runs in Standard version instead the Premium.
I did own Flash Builder 4.5 and than 4.6 in standard versions.
I tried to uninstall currently installed version, register and update the new product but it didn't work.
Is there a way of changing that?

Moved from the Creative Cloud to the Flash Builder forum. They will be able to help you here.

  • Flash Builder debug swf only

Is there a way to set up a Flash Builder Actionscript 3 project where I don't have to debug the swf's in the browser? I'd just like to debug the swf by itself, so ideally when I click debug, a swf pops up, not the browser with the swf contained inside. Thanks.

Go to Project Properties -> ActionScript Compiler and uncheck "Generate HTML Wrapper".
Now if you are in Flash Builder 4.5, on debug, the SWF will open up in the bundled standalone flash player (you can point to another standalone player in Preferences -> Flash Builder -> Debug).
In Flash Builder 4, debug launch will ask the OS to open the default associated program with .SWF files. If you associate .SWF with a standalone player (do that by "Open With" on Win and "Get Info" on Mac), then you're good to go.

  • Flash Builder 4 is ANNOYING!

Is anyone else annoyed with how Flash Builder 4 runs?
    Stuff I hate:
I hate the new Package Explorer. Why isn't it alphabetical?...dumb.
I hate the twirl downs on in the Package Explorer that show the methods and such of a class. This is what the Outline view panel is for. Stop cluttering the Package Explorer.
I HATE HATE HATE the damn code hints anytime I'm trying to type some mxml that automatically come up on roll over! They slow down Eclispe so damn much and nearly anywhere I put my mouse launches another damn one so I can't even see what I am typing.
    Stuff I'm not thrilled about:
Limited abiltity with the new spark components. Why isn't the Alert windows a spark component that I can skin? Why are you taking away functionality only to say it still exist in the mx components forcing me to create a bastardized application?
It would be super nice if the design view had the ability to choose the skin in of a component much like how to you for CSS.
Anyway....that's it for now. Am I the only one feeling this way?

    Hi Alex,
So can you provide more specifics about what you dislike about the Spark theme? Even better feel free to pass along tweaks that you improve matters for you.
We've gotten some good feedback on it to date, mostly that it's more modern and lighter than Halo.
Definitely heard similar feedback on the drop shadow however...it was intended to be more prominent than Halo's, similar to OSX I believe.
    Thanks for the input.
    Regards,
    Corey

  • Running a Captive Runtime debug build through flash builder

Is there a way to launch a debug configuration through Flash Builder that has the captive run time built in?
I am developing and testing an app for android devices that do not have the newest version of the Air Runtime, some of the devices require captive runtime because they cannot upgrade.  I need to be able to launch the app on these devices AND get debug/console information from flash builder for identifying defects.
    any ideas?

    Hey Wright,
Captive Runtime can only be used at export release build time.
Hence you cannot debug the application with captive runtime bundled.
    Thanks,

  • IOS/AIR Running and Debugging Issues with Flash Builder

I'm having very frustrating intermittent issues running and debugging Flex applications on an iPad 3rd generation retina with Flash Builder 4.7.
Until this morning, launching on device using both standard and fast packaging worked pretty well. Every now and again, I'd get a dialog saying the packaging had completed successfully, but it hadn't. A quick change of the USB cable to another port on my iMac and it started working again. I'd also randomly get a "Error occurred while installing the application: Invalid <device> specified" error, which quickly went away.
This morning, with the same code base, the same certificate and provisioning profiles, Flash Builder has only managed to successfully package and run my application on my iPad twice and I must have attempted to launch fifty or so times. Standard packaging, fast packaging and with and without the useLegacyAOT.
Does this sound like a Flash Builder issue? Is my iMac USB driver dodgy? Has anybody else experienced this?
    Any help greatly welcomed!
    Thanks,
    Simon

Hi I have had this problem sometimes. With my Mac Book Pro.
Try making a new flex application and see if you have the same result.
When I had this problem I created a new Application and copied every thing from my other application.
This my be a hard solution but I don't no any others.

  • What Runtime is Flash Builder using when running or debugging an AIR application?

I just updated my AIR runtime to 3.0 and noticed that my AIR application doesn't work anymore (my logfile reports an Uncaught Error #1508). So I tried to debug it with Flash Builder, but when I run it there, everything works just fine. So I uninstalled the AIR runtime completely but noticed that I can execute my AIR app within Flash Builder still just fine. So the AIR runtime used within Flash Builder seems to be a different one than the systemwide installed AIR runtime. How Do I chose within Flash Builder which runtime to use and how do I update this runtime?

When you use Flash Builder, it uses the copy of the AIR SDK that is inside the Flex SDK. This has a complete AIR runtime that is used for debugging. You can choose which AIR runtime to use by switching to a Flex SDK that has a different version of AIR. You can update any Flex SDK by copying the new AIR SDK into it, replacing any existing AIR files. (On a Mac there are some gotcha's here because copied folders are replaced not combined.)

  • Run/Debug on a device with Flash Builder 4.7 on OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) and iOS7

I am having trouble launching my Actionscript Mobile Project on a device which has iOS7 installed. It recieved this error.
Error occurred while installing the application:
    Invalid <device> specified
I can still deploy to my other device with iOS6, I'm running FB4.7 and OSX 10.9. Has anyone else seen this?

    Hi there.
I know this is an old post, but I fell here having this same problem for some weeks now, and i just figured my issue. Hope it help others:
My iPhone is connecting automatically with my itunes on computer. Not really sure what type of connection or wireless sync, but the fact is that it IS connecting.
For some weird reason it gets Flash Builder crazy and it cannot find the right device anymore. Even when I get my iPhone connected by cable, it says that it found the device, but doesn`t publish to it. The Flash Builder says that it was published, but nothing gets installed, and the debugger cannot connect.
MY SOLUTION (for now): Turn off the phone wi-fi, so it gets out of my home network. works like a charm and I finally can test on my device again.
    Really hope this helps.
