Flash Builder 4 super slow when Workspace and Project is on Network Drive

Hi I was wondering if maybe it is not common practice to create a workspace and project in a Network Drive? When I do this Flash Builder runs extremely slow ( build workspace slow, saving slow, code hinting slow, undo slow, etc, etc, etc). Very painful!
When I place the same project locally on my C drive everything runs fine. So should I not be running things off the network? I would really like to since all my files are on the network with backup system. Can anyone offer some advice? Or maybe I need to optimize something? Thanks

Hi.
Having your workspace and project on a network drive is not recommended as Flash Builder writes and reads a lot from the workspace and that will be slow.
A version control system such as svn or git with a repository hosted on your network drive should be perfectly fine. (You only take the hit when you check in and check out)

It's appen when FB try to save my workspace, my system become really unstable (sometime Kernel panic!!! ) for a while.

When go to compile my mobile flex app I get cant resolve ViewNavigationApplication and new flex mobile projects do not 'finish' when using the wizard.

Have AIRSDK 3.5 with ASC 2.0 is working nicely. Also must remember, when updating SDK need to make sure there are not firewall restrictions to the new commands (adt)
This has solved my ios deployment issue with AIR 3.4 (which was only reason invesigating AIR 3.6 in the first place)

OC4J not running after creating workspace and projects.

Created one workspace and added six projects. Added PostGes jar to library manager. Before doing this, the OC4J would run a test application successfully. After creating the workspace and project, I created another simple workspace with two JSP, on linked to the other. When trying to run this project get the following:

Remove the posgres jar from the library manager and still not able to run simple two page applications.
All the projects in the other workspace compile fine. The prolblem is that now I am not able to use the internal OC4J. I remove the workspace with the five projects, and the JARs and the two page app will not run.
The OC4J is running when launched from the IDE, ti just can find the pages.
New install of JDEV and the two page app will run fine. Add two user two user libraries and the app will not run.

Do you have a database connection to postgress defined in JDeveloper?
JDev might be picking this up and trying to add a datasource for it to the embedded OC4J - so try removing it, or alternatively add the postgress JDBC driver jar files to the libraries node under tools->embedded OC4J preferences.

Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP and ANT

I just installed Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP Premium and I am trying to install ANT so I can automate the AsDoc generation process.
In the past (Flash Builder 4), I just point to "http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo/" and select "Eclipse Java Development Tools".
However, when I do the same in " Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP Premium", I got an error message saying that a newer version of "Eclipse Java Development Tools" has already been installed. I go to the "Already Installed Software" tab, and indeed I see "Eclipse Java Development Tools" under "Eclipse Java IDE", but ANT is nowhere to be found.
By the way, I am doing everything on the stock, standalone Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP Premium.
Any suggestion is much appreciated.

I also have Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP and the ANT view does not show when going to Window -> Show View --> Other. I could not find it in any of the folders.
However, I was able to add it by hitting Command 3 (CTRL 3 on PC) and typing Ant.

Link to download extension "Remove Workspaces and Projects" is broken

I tried to install the extension "Remove Workspaces and Projects" version 1.1 but the downloaded zip archive was corrupt. So, I checked the link listed at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/101/update/exchange.xml#serafeimk.jdev.extension.RemoveFilesRecursively and found that it's broken. I've also checked the author's website with no success (it's in Russian, I think).
Is there another way to download this extension? If not, I think it should be removed from the auto-update list.

in the prefs file is a list of the most recent workspaces, if you delete the first one (including the /n)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4\configuration\.settings\org.eclipse.ui.ide.prefs
also reduce the number by one in RECENT_WORKSPACES_PROTOCOL
that should fix it

Project Settings on Network Drive

Hi Folks,
I just got my Buffalo Link Station and I came up with an FCP-question.
In order for me to access my projects from all my computers in my network I wanted to copy the "Final Cut Projects" Folder to the shared drive. Will that chance the performance of FCP in any way? I know that I can't work in one project from two computers, but that won't be the problem.
Just wanted to know if there are any problems with running the projects off a network drive.

I just wanted the project settings on the network
The project's settings are part of the project file. You can store the project file on a network drive, but it would be better to copy it to the computer you're working on or on the external drive that the media is stored ... since you'll have to have that drive connected to the working computer anyway.

WMI event watcher in ssis package not sensing the file continiously when we placed the file in Network drive location or UNC Location

I am using SSDT 2012.
WMI event watcher is not picking the file , when I place the file in Network drive location or UNC Location.
I have mapped the network drive to UNC location.
Issue only comes when I run the package through job.(it will not pic the file) and I crossed check, I have all the permissions to the folder. if I run or execute the package through IDE, file will be picked and moved to destination.
Am I missing any configuration ? can anyone please advice.

So the WMI query is on the mapped drive and not on the UNC?
And the user that runs the job (SQL Server Agent Service Account or the proxy) has rights to read that mapped drive?
Are you using the default account or a proxy in the jobstep? And does it work if you create a credential and proxy for your own account?

Flash builder very slow

Hi all,
i'm using Adobe® Flash® Builder™® 4.7
with Windows 7 64bits, Core i5, 8Go RAM, SSD Samsung EVO PRO 256Go
After a few minutes Flash Builder becomes very slow. I can no longer enter a lineunless it freeze. The processor increases its frequency and everything returns tonormal after a few seconds if I did nothing...
I tried the methods provided in this link:

It is better but still not enough.

Don't know if it's the same problem that I have but here's my problem and solution.
Every time I embed CFF fonts in code I get the same behaviour, ie:

So my solution is to place all embeds in a separate master package like InitMaster.as
Then I just extend the main class with it.

The sluggishness (is this a word?) happens only when I open the InitMaster and do copy/paste.
Oh, and I have a dual cpu, 12 core (24HT) machine with SSD dics and 64GB RAM so it's not a hardware issue.

I just bought a brand new ipad for testing. I am using flash buider 4.7 to make an actionscript mobile project. I created an app ID, provisioning profile, and certificate. I have done this before in flash professional so it wasn't too bad. However, when I run or debug even a blank application I get this error in flash builder:

Flash Builder, Flex SDK 4.1 and OSMF versions

Hi,
I use Flash Builder (4.5) and have to use the 4.1 Flex SDK to make AIR apps for TV sets. The OSMF lib provided in the 4.1 SDK doesnt meet my needs, but the 4.5 version does. However, when I add another OSMF.swc version to my libraries, I get a Conflict error and cannot compile the app. If to prevent conflicts I remove the native OSMF.swf (Properties -> Flex Buid Path -> Remove) then Flash Builder signals an error (red cross aside the project in the project explorer), but won't say where it is. Of course it will not compile either.
Any idea ?

If I had to summarize my problem in ten words :
With Flex 4.5 SDK and AIR 2.6 SDK I can stream dynamic http in the VideoPlayer element, but it won't play on a Samsung TV.
With Flex 4.1 SDK and AIR 2.6 SDK I can launch the app on a Samsung TV, but the VideoPlayer element won't play any dynamic http stream.
I assume this problem comes from OSMF because it is the library supposedly handling the dynamic streaming. I just can't make it work within Flex 4.1 :
If I delete the native osmf.swc and remove it from the Flex Build Path properties, Flash Builder won't compile, claiming there is an error, even if I add other more recent osmf.swc.
If I don't delete it and still add another one, either I get a conflict error or a "not found" error. either way it won't compile.

Flash Builder won't recompile or Clean Project

This is the most obnoxious error and it wastes incredible amounts of time every day.
After getting a compile error in a Flash Professional / Flash Builer Project, the thing will refuse to update the swf with any new changes to the code. Cleaning the project is irrelevent. Even added trace statements don't show up. Sometimes restarting Builder will help, sometimes it wont, but since this happens every few errors or so, it is impossible to manage this way.
The thing just continues to launch an old version of the swf no matter how much you've changed the code.
Also if you try to report bugs in Adobe for Flash Builder it tells you to click a special "Flex /Builder bug report form" which is a dead link to nowhere.

Most likely it seems that Flash Builder or Flash Professional thinks that the swf is still open and in use (even though it absolutely is not) and so refuses to overwrite it.
Rather than tell you this it launches the old version of the swf and pretends a compile has gone through.
Also there is absolutely no way of telling it that the swf is NOT in use.

Flash Builde 4 crashes when trying to start

on my work mahine we use FB 4. We have windows 7 and no one has experiened this issue - I have even tried re-installing - Flash builder 4 (and catalyst) just crash when trying to start I get the FlashBuilder.exe has stopped working everytime I try and start it up.
Ideas?

In case you have some scanner/printer etc installed in the machine it might be causing issue. Try launching with none of the devices attached and anti virus disabled.

Mac running slow when cut and paste

Hi,
recently I noticed that my mac is running slow when I cut and paste (there is a delay of approx 1-2 secs). I thought it might be some kind of spyware which is trying to steal sensitive information such as passwords, credit cards and others. That would be surprising as I thought those were still rare in Mac. Any thought on this? Suggestions on how to protect my mac from these security issues? Thanks in advance!
