Flash control doesn't load in Firefox if offscreen

We use a swf for a page counter that needs to run when the page loads, but in Firefox it doesn't run until the viewer scroll down to the swf.
Is this normal behavior? Is there anyway to force the swf to run at page load?

Did you upload the Flash movie (the SWF file)? Doesn't appear
to be on
your server.

  • Flash builder doesn't load on flash player 11,only version 13

    Hi everyone
    I developed a swf player on flex builder 4.5, over flex sdk 4.6, using the minimum version required by the sdk(11.1)
    But for some reason, the script code only works fine on flash player 13.
    What am i missing?
    On the flash player 11 this is written by swfobject.js
    <object id="CorePlayer" name="CorePlayer" width="0" height="0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="assets/CorePlayer.swf"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="*"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><param name="flashvars" value="endpoint=&amp;hash="></object>
    And this is the javascript code using swfobject.js way:
    var swfVersionStr = "11.1.0";
                    var xiSwfUrlStr = "playerProductInstall.swf";
                    var flashvars = {
                        endpoint: "",
                        hash: ""
                    var params = {
                        allowscriptaccess: "*",
                        allowfullscreen: true,
                        wmode: 'transparent'
                    var attributes = {
                        id: "CorePlayer",
                        name: "CorePlayer"
                    swfobject.embedSWF("assets/CorePlayer.swf", "flashContent", "0%", "0%", swfVersionStr, xiSwfUrlStr, flashvars, params, attributes);
                    swfobject.createCSS("#flashContent");
    But doesn't load corePlayer.swf on the networks resources from chrome.
    Any ideia about this issue please thanks for your attention!!

    Subject: Re: Flash player doesn't load on PBS sites
    Hey Mike,
    Those folders do exist. I did a clean install, checked to make sure those folders were there, but still get the same results with video on PBS sites. Seems to work everywhere else though. When I right click on the player space, besides the flash player settings and “about” links, there is also an “about JW player” link, if that means anything.

  • Flash flashes but doesn't load - help

    I have put up a new site ( we bought it and reimplemented it)
    and one game is not working. It flashes and doesn't load.....
    Any ideas?
    It's the crossword puzzle on
    http://www.vocabulary.co.il

    We wrote a new home page to make it work but we are NOT happy
    with our solution. The original home page had security in it so if
    people bookmarked the .swf files, their session was forced to start
    at the highest level.
    There was also other stuff but we took it all out to make it
    work. Now we'll slowly put it back in.

  • Adobe Flash 11 doesn't work on Firefox 11

    I always used Firefox 11 without problems due to plugins (just my crappy hardware), but when I updated to newer version of Flash Player, nothing worked anymore on Firefox, but in Chrome everything goes perfect. I've also tried to reinstall the plugin, the stable and also the beta version, using Flash-Aid but nothing worked. Is there another solution to fix this issue?
    Thanks from Italy!

    You may have downloaded the incorrect version, as there is one version for Firfox & another for all other browsers. In any case the following references how to test, manage, update, and verify flash & associated plugin.
    Update Flash:
    The latest version of the Flash plugin should perform better and crash less often. To check if Flash is up to date, visit Mozilla's '''Plugin Check '''page. If it says that Flash needs to be updated, install the latest version manually using the steps below.
    1. Go to the Flash Player download page at [Adobe.com] and download the Flash installer.
    2. When prompted, save the file (i.e.install_flash_player_"version"_linux."processor".tar.gz).
    3. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the File menu and select Quit.
    4. Open a Terminal window (in Gnome, click on the Applications menu, select Accessories, and then select Terminal.)
    4.In the Terminal window, change to the directory where you saved the file you downloaded (e.g. cd /home/user/Downloads).
    5. Extract libflashplayer.so from the file you downloaded with the command tar -zxvf install_flash_player_"version"_linux."processor".tar.gz.
    6. As the super user, copy the extracted file, libflashplayer.so, to your Firefox installation directory's plugins sub-directory. For example, if Firefox is installed in /usr/lib/mozilla, use the command sudo cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and then enter your super user password when prompted.

  • Flash movie doesn't load properly in IE only

    I have a simple flash movie which transitions through text and photos. I have a preloader (AS3) on frame 1, which sends the playhead to frame 2, after the movie has loaded 100%. For some reason, in Internet Explorer, the preloader bar will load all the way, but fail to move the playhead to frame 2, so it'll just sit there, with the preload bar at 100%. However, this does not happen every time. For instance, right now, the flash movie will play when I initially go to the website, but when I click on another page, the same flash header (same swf on each page) will just show the preloader bar but will not play the rest of the movie. Reloading the page doesn't help. Closing the browser and reopening it doesn't help. Clearing the browser cache doesn't help either. So, the flash movie will play correctly on the first page of the website I go to (whether it be the home page or another page) but then when I go to any other page which has the flash movie, it won't play, just sits there with the preloader bar showing. And then when going back to the initial page I entered the site on, the flash movie no longer plays there, either. I haven't seen this problem in any other browser than Internet Explorer (6 and 7). I've checked in Firefox on Mac and PC and Safari on Mac. I'm using flash player 10.0.22.87 on my Mac and PC. The flash movie was made in Flash CS3, for flash player 9, actionscript 3 code.
    So, to see the problem, go here in Internet Explorer: http://demo.matthewpavkov.com/adairsolar. Wait for the movie to load and start playing. It works. Then, navigate to one of the other pages and you'll see that the same swf will not play. Navigate back to the home page, the swf does not play.
    Here is the preloader code:
    import flash.display.*;
    this.stop();
    this.loaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, PL_LOADING);
    function PL_LOADING(event:ProgressEvent):void {
        var pcent:Number=event.bytesLoaded/event.bytesTotal*100;
        lbar.scaleX=pcent/100;
        lpc.text=int(pcent)+"%";
        if (pcent>=100) {
            this.gotoAndStop(2);
    Also, if I remove the preloader actionscript code, the flash movie plays correctly. You can see that here: http://demo.matthewpavkov.com/adairsolar/no-preload
    The .fla is available to anyone who wants to take a closer look.

    mjjp,
         In may just be that in IE, the ProgressEvent never fires -- because your content is already cached.  See what happens if you add the following new lines (very end of the code sample):
    this.stop();
    this.loaderInfo.addEventListener(
      ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, PL_LOADING
    function PL_LOADING(event:ProgressEvent):void {
      var pcent:Number=event.bytesLoaded/event.bytesTotal*100;
      lbar.scaleX=pcent/100;
      lpc.text=int(pcent)+"%";
      if (pcent>=100) {
        this.gotoAndStop(2);
    if (this.loaderInfo.bytesLoaded >= this.loaderInfo.bytesTotal) {
      this.gotoAndStop(2);
         See what's going on?  This way, even of the ProgressEvent handler never fires, you're still comparing the bytesLoaded property against the bytesTotal property.

  • Flash animation doesn't display on firefox

    I have three flash banners embedded with swfobject in a javascript slider (jquery bxslider plugin). Each banner has three ActionScript ExternalInterfaces:
    * calling restartBanner() from JavaScript restarts the animation so that I can restart it whenever the slide is selected
    * calling stopFlash() stops the animation
    * on the last frame of each banner, bannedEnd() is called so that I know when to proceed to the next banner
    Everything seems to be working correctly in Safari and Chrome, but in Firefox the last (third) banner doesn't seem to start playing. The weird thing is that even though you can't see the animation (it simply displays the first frame), at some point bannerEnd() is called, so internally the flash animation is working.
    At first I thought it's because the container with the banner is not visible and tried modifying the slide's DOM in hope of triggering a re-render and forcing the browser to start the animation (as seen in onSlideAfter method), but that didn't help. I don't have much experience with flash and couldn't find any relevant solutions or similar problems online, so I don't really know where to look.
    It's also not the issue of the one particular banner - if you change the order, the problem persists with the last (third) banner.
    I isolated the code from the rest of the page and it can be seen here: https://pang.fraktal.ee/~stepan/flash_banner_issue/
    As I said, the issue seems to only be with the Firefox browser, so it seemed appropriate to seek help here.

    Hi Stalaryn,
    Thank you for your question, I understand that you have three flash banners on your website.
    In your test the title and the span are different, but the active class is working. Its just that last div that is not loading. As well as the data target in the last tile is not as specific as the others, is it the url of the swf file? I can understand the frustration here.
    Can you please file a bug in bugzilla.mozilla.org under web compatibility with reference to your silder?

  • Flash player doesn t work with firefox

    hey every body
    after a lot of tries ,the version 11.8.800.168 doesn t work properly
    a good down load ,good installation without error message but youtube doesn t detect the plug in ?
    i check and it s installed :just a remark :the plug in weights about 6 mo installed and i downloaded 16mo ?
    and if i try with IE9 to compare:surprise the video is good but no sound
    perhaps a good idea will arrive ,but it s not very easy
    bye

    Thanks for the assistance Chris.  I tried the 11.7 option without success.  I downloaded the 11.7 file, I closed all browsers, used the flashplayer uninstaller, restarted the CPU, installed the 11.7 (with auto updates disabled).  Restarted Firefox, tested a Flickr video, same "no-play" results.
    However, after doing the same thing and downloading the Archive version http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp_10.3.183.75_archive.z ip I was able to play the Flickr videos!  WooHoo.
    I completed the update process to the latest version, and now the videos play properly with the latest version!
    Not sure what the bad actor was, the 11.7 version did not fix it, but the older 10.3 version did!
    Thanks to all for the assistance with this pain in the arse issue.

  • Flash website is not loading in firefox, but loads in Chrome - how do I debug / fix this?

    When I go to a flash web site that I have a subscription to (stock market data), it does not load, but the same page loads in Chrome (Chromium). That is the best info I have right now. I have latest flash on firefox 18.

    Actually, this occurred to me later this afternoon, but I use Gentoo, which normally builds from source (cuz I am hardcore like that). I uninstalled the normal build and reinstalled the prebuilt binary and everything works. I am happy again and just need to play around with the source build options, which I can do later.
    Thanks!

  • Flash Video Skin Not Loading in Firefox

    Hello everyone, I'm having a bit of trouble with a Flash
    Video file. I'm helping a friend out by doing some work on his
    webpage. He had a video that he wanted to put up on his news page,
    so I converted the video to an flv and used the flv player
    component to make a video player linked it. I uploaded the skin's
    swf file, the player's swf file, and the flv to the same directory.
    I made an iframe pointing to the player.swf file in the news
    section of the site. I tested it in IE; it works like a charm.
    Video loads, skin loads, and it plays etc... but in any version of
    firefox, only the video loads and just sits there (autoplay is
    off). What can the problem be? Link : (should work in IE, not
    FIREFOX
    Here .
    Once you can recover from the reporter's amusing slack-jawed mug,
    please help me out!

  • XML Flash banner doesn't work in Firefox

    hey everyone,
    I'm using a simple Flash based / XML banner that doesn't
    appear to be working in Firefox. I know that I've uploaded the
    correct files because it works in IE 6 and Safari for some reason.
    It also appears to be working in Firefox when viewing it locally
    and when viewing the demo online from where I got the code. I
    didn't alter the code so I'm stumped as to why this is not working.
    Any insight to this?? Thanks!!
    PS. I'm using Flash Player 9 for all browsers. Also, I've
    tried changing the path of the image source, etc. but nothing
    appears to work.

    Can you post a link to it.
    My best guess is you don't have the <embed tag in your
    HTML SWF object. That is typically the only reason I've seen a
    flash not work in FF, while working in IE. IE doesn't need the
    embed, but FF only uses it. Best bet to avoid any of these issues
    is to use the standard method: SWFObject 2.1 to embed your SWFs.

    I am using Firefox 15.0 beta on a Samsung Galaxy S3. The "tap to play" rectangle displays normally, but when I tap it, it disappears without revealing any Flash content. Flash works fine in 14.0. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me! Thanks!

    Update:the latest update has fixed this! Thanks!

  • Flash player doesn't work on firefox

    Flash player 10.1 won't install on firefox, I can get it to work on IE but everytime i try to install it on firefox it says insufficient permission, which im assuming means i need to be admin, which i am. I've tried uninstalling and installing but nothing works, I've evening tried deleting the NPSWF32.dll file, but it says i need admin, which again i am, so any help would be awesome.

    Hi A, thanks. Since you have Uninstalled and Installed we don't know what is Installed now. Is Flash Player still working properly in Internet Explorer?
    By the way, what version of IE are you using?
    You said you are using the Administrator account, so continue doing that for the Install.
    Using Firefox do the following:
    Download the Flash Player Installer for Firefox and SAVE it to your Desktop:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
    Close All browsers, you only want to be looking at your Desktop. RUN the Installer and when finished, Restart your Computer.
    Using FF(Firefox) go here to test:
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    Then, still using FF, find the plug-in SWF vs 10.1.53.64 and make sure it is Enabled.
    Post back your results or if you have any questions.
