Editing Safari AutoFill

I am trying to edit the information in Safari Autofill, but cannot find the form to do it. The Help information says: "Choose Preferences from the Safari menu and click AutoFill. Select the items you want Safari to use.", but when I select Preferences, there is no AutoFill option. Is it somewhere else?

• Safari/Autofill not working?

My Autofill form does not seem to be working.
Do you have a solution?

HI,
Open Keychain Access. (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left then Delete the "Safari AutoFill" item. Quit Keychain Access.
Relaunch Safari. Navigate to a site that requires your username and password. Click "Always Allow" when prompted.

• Help! Safari Autofill stopped working for no reason.

My Safari autofill has suddenly stopped working. It used to be that when a form came up on safari I could start filling it out and hit tab and it would fill in the entire form. Now it looks like it might fill in that line, but if I hit tab it doesn';t even complete the line that is highlighted. I think this started to happen after I did the latest OS X software update -- I am now running 10.4.11. I checked autofill on safari and it seems to have all the appropriate boxes checked. And if I go to the pull down menu and pull down edit and do autofill forms, it will do it. But why won't it do it using tab any more?
thanks so much,
Katarina

• Since installing Snow Leopard safari autofill won't work

I have checked the safari autofill preferences and have the top box and bottom box checked (not the middle passwords).
This used to work well as soon as I would enter one letter in a form it would complete it. Now I must type in everything even in websites I have visited often and recently.
I had the "word won't print or save as" problem but installing the new 1.1 security update fixed that but not this autofill problem.
What can I do now?

Thanks for the link, but it still doesn't work for me. It fills in some of the information but refuses to do postcodes & countries and telephone numbers are a bit random. It still doesn't do email addresses on many sites - even sites I visit every day. The only thing it gets correct consistently is the first line of my postal address. I tried deleting the contact, creating a new one and making it me - but it still does exactly the same thing.
I finally gave up and ran Chrome. Oh the joy of coming back to a site I visited only yesterday and have all the data I entered available at the click of a mouse; instead of taking minutes to book airport parking it takes seconds! It's like browsers used to be (and, incidentally, much faster than Safari and correctly renders all the sites I visit). It's so frustrating that Apple can't make something work that other browsers have been doing for decades.

• Why doesn't Safari Autofill work in iOS 5.0.1?

Safari Auto fill in iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4 does not function. I have tried all the settings suggestions, and no joy. This looks like a designed software failure. Any help or insight?

As far as I can tell certain settings must be in place for AutoFill to prompt you to save passwords.
The settings can be changed back to your preference after you saved your passwords.
To make AutoFill work use the following settings:
Go to: Settings > Safari
- turn off Private Browsing
- turn off Block Pop-ups
Go to: Settings > Safari > AutoFill
- turn on Name & Passwords
Launch Safari
- go to whatever websites you want to remember your Name & Passwords
- type in your Name & Passwords
- hit Go on the right side of the keyboard
- a pop-up will ask you if you want to save your password
- click Yes

• Safari autofill

My Safari Autofill seems to have a mind of it's owm. Choosing to remember user names and passwords, or not, for no reason I can ascertain. Is there any way of fixing this without removing all of the user names & passwords I already have stored in there?

If you are having problems with Safari sometimes asking you if you want username-password saved, and sometimes not asking, many sites go out of their way to prevent Safari from doing that. See https://discussions.apple.com/message/21762439#21762439
It seems apple, facebook, and google allow username password saved,
while hotmail (login.live.com) and most financial institutions don't allow it.
I'm not sure about yahoo, it seems something changed recently so it doesnt work with Safari, but still works with Firefox? Still investigating....
If you have saved username/password but Safari doesn't always autofill, and it isn't just yahoo, then that's a different problem above my level.

• Safari Autofill Using Wrong Contact Card

Safari autofill is using my husbands contact card instead of my contact card. Looks like Contacts show him as the default. How do I change the default to use my contact card instead?

• IOS 5.1.1 Safari AutoFill

Hi,
iPod Touch 4th gen., iOS 5.1.1. Safari with iOS 5.1.1 han an AutoFill function.
On my MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion, Safari 6.0 has an AutoFill function and a Passwords Tab. Which I assume when using are secure.
By secure I mean that passwords are encrypted which I'm assuming that Safari 6.0 on my MacBook does (seems to replace the Keychain function, at least regarding Safari 6.0)
Is the AutoFill function on Safari with iOS 5.1.1 also as secure as in Safari 6.0 with Mountain Lion? If not, then can I trust using it?
Thx

• Safari Autofill stopped working

Hi, since the last update last week, my autofill has stopped working. I have Safari 4.0.4 on a 20 inch iMac, 2.4 Ghz, Intel Core 2 Duo, with 3GB Ram. My software is 10.4.11.
My autofill is turned on the address checked is valid, yet the autofill stopped working. On some websites, I can trigger it from the Edit file, but usually it says the information doesn't match.
Can anyone help? Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks,
Martha

Carolyn, thank you SO much for this!!! I haven't tried it yet because your reply came after I had been on the phone with Apple for 3 hours and with 4 different people.
What we found was that as soon as I marked my Vcard as "Make this my Card", the autofill started working again but it doesn't give the phone number anymore. It gives all else but the phone number. We set up a test user account and even in that one, it would give all information except for the phone number. Finally the 4th technician said we were going to delete safari and download a new one and I said I wanted to wait on that. I was exhausted by then.
With this new information, should I go ahead and try your suggestions or is there something else I can try? The apple people and I tried everything we all could think of but I know that you forum members can have ideas that escape the best technicians.
Thanks again, Carolyn, and thanks in advance to everyone else too.
Martha

• How to correct safari autofill to my contact info, not my husband's

Autofill on my MacBookPro persistently uses my husband's contact info. When I go into Safari Preferences, there is an "edit" option, but it only opens my husband's Contact Page to edit. I cannot edit to change the contact page to my contact page. How can I do this?

Select your card in Contacts. Then select
Card ▹ Make This My Card
from the menu bar. If you share an account with your husband, he will now have the same problem you had.

• Safari Autofill update question

I had to reformat my HD and then updated to Tiger.
I woud like to find a way of updating the Safari in TIger with the autofill data from the backup I have of Safari in 10.3.9

Selecting an entry from the "User names and passwords" list (or from the "Using info from my Address Book card" list for that matter) and clicking "Remove" does not delete the entry. Thanks for your reply.
We have been seeing a few cases of this on the forums lately.
The next step is to find the same entries in Keychain Access and delete them there. Safari stores usernames and passwords in the keychain.
Quit Safari and navigate to your Applications/Utilities folder, open the program Keychain Access, and search for the sites where you want to remove saved usernames and passwords. Once you have found an entry that you want removed, click on it in the list to highlight it and click the Delete key. Confirm the deletion in the dialog that drops down.
Then quit Keychain Access. You may also need to reboot your Mac for the changes to take effect. Then launch Safari and look in Safari > Preferences > Autofill > User names and passwords to see if the entries you deleted in keychain access have also been removed in Safari.

• Safari autofill not working properly

Safari no longer autofilling username and passwords. It fills in the username but not the password. But still asks me when I enter them if it would like to remember them for me. I always click yes. I have reset safari a few times. Ran repair permissions. Any ideas?

Are these sites that contain a "Add password to keychain" (or similar) option? If not, then the problem is not with the keychain entries.
One thing users might try is to reset safari using the "Safari" --> "Reset Safari" menu option. Be sure to clear caches as well as clear cookies.

• Safari , Autofill and Wells Fargo Online Banking

In earlier versions of Safari, I had to type my login/pass to login to Wells Fargo Online banking, autofill wouldn't put it in:
https://online.wellsfargo.com/
I figured there was some security issue and just dealt with it. Then in 2.x? it all of a sudden started to work! Now in 3.0.4 I have do it manually again. Can anyone else confirm and does anyone know the story behind this?

Sorry, I just noticed another thread on the this subject. Couldn't find it before.

• Edit Safari passwords

I had to change a password to one of the websites I frequent. I couldn't figure out how to edit this password so I went into:
setting /// safari /// passwords&auto fill /// saved passwords and deleted the login associated with that web site.
Now when I go to that web site nothing auto fills. If I click on the auto fill tab on the keyboard it auto fills it with a different web sites info.
I was hoping once I deleted the password it would give me the choice to add one again.
Does anyone one know how to fix this?
thanks

You can can Show and Remove passwords but not edit.
For editing. Open Keychain Access located in /Applications/Utilities
Select Passwords on the left.
Type in the website name top right corner of that window then right or control click the keychain then click Delete.
Navigate to the website. Enter the user name and passwords. Click Yes when prompted to save the password to a new keychain.

• Safari autofill on ipad not working after update

After activating the latest update, the autofill feature in Safari no longer works. Doublechecked that private browsing turned off, checked my contact info. Any other ideas or is this a glitch with this update?

As a starting point drag the icon off the dock (it should vanish in a puff of smoke)
Then go to the applications folder and try to open Safari, if it opens then the application if fine. Close it, then go to applications folder and drag the application to the dock and drop it there, this will create a new short cut. (maybe the old was corrupted)
