Flash extension, new tool, need help

hi all,
I am developing a Tool, and I've run into a wall. unlike the PolyStar example it doesn't draw a new shape. instead it modifies a selected graphic's start frame, as the mouse is clicked and dragged.
CS3 works flawlessly, the graphic updates while the mouse is being dragged.
CS4 & CS5 does not update while the mouse is being dragged.
I have scoured what documentation I have, and so far I have not found the magic ju-ju for updating the scene During the tools mouseMoved() function. the documentation seems to be ignoring this case.
can some Guru shed some light on this? how do I cause the document to redraw whats currenlty on the screen?
or at least tell a graphics to redraw?

New to flash remoting... need help!

I just started with Flash 8 on my own, I am intermediate
level, and I am studying Action Script 2.0.
I need some suggestions on what books to use, and what to
study to accomplish connecting SQL or MS-Access to Flash.
I will be working on a database project in 6 months, and I
would like to do it in flash instead of dreamweaver.
All suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
I am using: IIS and Coldfusion7.

If you have videos in some format like MPG, MOV, AVI, and
need to add sound to them, well you are in
the wrong forum as this has nothing to do with Flash. You
will need a video editing program. Once
you get a video editing program (Final Cut, premiere, etc...)
consult their help docs or use the
universal approach of File > Import. Then you will need to
get the imported audio onto a track in
the timeline which is usually done by the ole drag n' drop
method.
But perhaps, since you are asking here on a "FLASH" forum - i
suspect you have a flash timeline with
animation on it and want to add sounds - then do what has
already been said here in this thread and
use File > Import, then add it to the main timeline via
the properties panel. Or drag it from
Library to stage after Importing to library.
But this will be the last time I ask: what are you referring
to when you say "VIDEO"?

Browser scrollbar and Flash scrollbar ? I need help!

Now I have a problem about the scrollbar:
The height of my swf file is longer than browser height, so
the scrollbar of browser's occurred, if I scroll my mouse wheel,
the whole flash roll down, but the problem is that I have used a
scrollPanel component which write by myself, and in this situation,
when I scroll the mouse wheel, the scrollbar in flash and browser
will both in effect.
The question is that how to disable the brower scrollbar when
I scroll mouse wheel inside the scrollPanel component. In fact,
adobe already done this, if my cursor inside a textfield object,
the scrollbar of bowser will not get focus. How to achieve this
effect? My english is bad, but I need help!

i recently downloaded trails of flash cs4 and web premium package cs4 (took a day to download at high speed starbuck's internet). couldnt get the setup.exe to work or the uninstaller to work. surfing tech support over next couple weeks to try various agents was useless and expensive until i finally reached someone with useful info. all the agents had foriegn accents and read from scripts and web support pages until yesterday, when i reached a guy who told me two things i'll report to various forums addressing this same issue:
1. download windows uninstaller program from their website (google: windows ininstaller). this program is different from the one that doesnt work in the programs and features area of control panel when you try to uninstall adobe products from there.
2. windows explorer 8, the newest version, DOES NOT download adobe softare properly and leaves things out, causing all sorts of issues including the setup.exe program not working. download firefox browser from mozella (google: firefox) and use it for all adobe downloads. apparently the old windows explorer 7 will work, but if you already have explorer 8 installed its easiest to just use firefox.
i'm spending the next couple days downloading the 4.14 G web premium trail with firefox and will report if this works.

Data base problem-new user need help

im new user and trying to insert data base to my page using

New laptop need help with itunes.

okay so i got a new laptop for xmas and i want to transfer my songs from my old desktop to my laptop. is there a way i can load my ipod onto my laptop and use that to transfer songs.
my friend said that when i plug in my ipod to my blank itunes it will erase my songs. is there a way to download my songs to my laptop from my ipod?

Your friend is right. the iPod cannot be used to update iTunes. I had the same problem about a year ago, and I just transferred each song using my jumpdrive. It's painstakingly boring, but it will work without wiping anything clean.

New User,need help, charging, using, everythi

I recently bought a Zen V Plus and have no tech savy so need help. I've checked with support but don't get th answers I need so thought someone here could help. Here are my questions.
1. Is there anything else that can be used as a charger besides a Zen product. I have several cell phone chargers both for house and can, can any of these be used? need to save money
2. Can the Zen be used while charging? All I get is the docked message and nothing else?
3. I use my player mainly for audio books and the battery doesn't hold for a whole book so I have to charge but when I do the book goes? back to the first part instead of holding my place. I do I hold my place?
Anybody that can give me simple clear answers please help. Because of my age I have trouble reading and the player allows me to enjoy books but I have trouble understanding how to make it work. Don't laugh but my 3 year old grandson would probably have better luck with getting it to work.

First, no three year old will do better than you can with the player. That said, spend some time reading the tutorials listed under support at the top of this page, and use the search in this forum to find everything you can about the Zen V Plus.
When I shut down my Zen V plus, while reading my current audiobook, I just hit the pause button and then pull down the slide button on the left for "shutting down". Some of my books seem to do better with just a shut down instead of pause first. I have found that the bookmark feature is more trouble than it is worth. I use audiobooks from NetLibrary and Overdri've and a few extra from a forum on audiobooks. It seems that they all work differently when shutting down and holding a place.
Anyway, spend some time trying different methods of bookmarking. The Zen V Plus is fairly forgiving player.

One more thought for recharging your battery. Try Amazon or eBay for a recharger, if you can't afford the Creative charger, but remember that you can fry the player if you use the wrong one and the warranty doesn't cover that damage. The easiest and cheapest way to recharge is to use the computer.

If you've spent any time on these forums, you should know that the only thing "urgently" does is piss off many of the smarter programmers, greatly diminishing your chances of getting any help whatsoever. Your second problem is that you are expecting us to drop everything and help you, to put in tremendous and prompt effort, and yet you show no effort to help us. You don't use code tags, so we really can't read your code, you say a constructor "doesn't work" and yet you don't say how it doesn't work, how it's supposed to work, what error messages you've gotten,....
I mean come on here. If you want help from us, you have to put in some work on this post first. We are volunteers, and your job is to make our job of helping you as easily as possible. You've failed that. Please try again, and we'll see.

Adobe flash player not working- need help urgently

I have windows vista home premium, where few months back when I was using the computer it came for a message requesting me to upgrade my adobe flash player to version 10. which I did and its the biggest mistake
Eversince then I cannot access any videos and the some audios as well.
where I visited adobe website and followed the instructions to uninstall the flashplayer and reinstalling,
but nothing worked so far, hence I'm unable to view y-tube or any other related videos at all.
I checked the files in c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash and I have only below mentioned two files
flash10e.ocx
flashutil10e
If somebody could help me on it I would truly appreciate it as I need the flash player urgently for my work.

Hi Himali,
Thanks for the info. Following is the information you need to do. Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Adobe Uninstaller: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html Select the one for Windows.
Then you will download and SAVE this Installer to your Desktop:
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
After you have done that, then you need to follow these steps.
1. Disconnect from the Internet
2. Right click on the Trend Micro icon in your system tray and disable/turn off the Anti-Virus and the Firewall
3. Check the system tray (that area by the clock) for any icons(applications) that use Flash and disable them.
4. Go to Tools, and click on Internet Options. Click on the Security Tab and set it to Medium for the Internet Zone.
5. Close all browsers so you are only looking at your Desktop
6. Click on the Uninstaller on your Desktop and RUN it. When it is finished, Reboot(restart) your computer. When it is fully
rebooted, then Reboot again. This is needed to make sure all old Flash files are removed.
7. Now you will check Trend Micro and the Firewall to make sure it is still disabled. If it isn't, then disable both again.
8. Click on the Installer on your Desktop and RUN. When finished, Reboot Once.
9. Check Trend Micro and enable it and the Firewall now.
10. Re-connect back to the Internet.

You may want to print these instructions out to make it easier for you to follow. If you have any questions before you start, please ask.

Cleaning up my new Thinkpad need help with what to Uninstall

So I finally got my new thinkpad T520 set up with Windows 7 and I currently have all the prepackaged Lenovo Programs and thinkvantage tools installed. I am trying to optimize my system right now and I am wondering which programs I should keep and which I should delete.
I already have Revo uninstaller, CCleaner, and ESET NOD32 smart security antivirus so I already have some good utilities to clean my system.
Basically if anyone could help me determine which lenovo programs to keep and which to uninstall I would be very greatful. I dont need this computer to be a screamer, but I would like a stable computer that is as fast as possible.

truthfully, Lenovo's factory load is lighter than most every other OEM load i've worked with.
if you want to further optimize your machine's running state, you should have a look at the blackviper site to dig through your running Windows services. even if you choose not to modify anything, it's quite educational. http://www.blackviper.com/
you can also go through your system's start-up programs and what-not. apps like acrobat reader install update checkers that load at every boot and run in the background. i like a Microsoft tool named Autoruns for this task. it's part of the Sysinternals suite. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/sysinternals

New and need help - drag and drop with dynamic text

So I'm doing this project and as an animator I'm not familiar with the whole action script side of flash
Okay so far I've managed to create the whole Drag and Drop feature and it works well, the thing is I want to make it so when you drag in object in the correct spot and new text appears, and I need like six different object with the dynamic text. but I have no idea how to integrated it in my code or where I should start!
So i based myself on some tutorial so theres some code in there that had dynamic text, but not exactly what i wanted

Looking for a new laptop, need help!?!

I am searching for a new laptop to use in college and i am planning to spend $900 to $1000 on it and would like a laptop that is not too big (like equal to or under 16".) I would like at least 500GB hard drive and processor that is good but not to strong that I have no battery life. I was thinking i5 processor. I would like it to have enough battery to be able to use through good chunk of day (like 6hr rated or so.) It needs to be somewhat durable as I know college will take its toll on the computer. It would be great addition to have a good video card. I don't know if there is anything out there like this but hope there is. Please post suggestions or new ideas about what i would need for college. Thank you for any help!

Thank you for considering Best Buy for the purchase of your next laptop. As we start off the Back to School season you should start seeing the introduction of quite a few new models, and some that should be able to meet your need. With the way technology advances day to day, this shouldn't be impossible to maintain.
Personally, taking into account any and all biases I have and stuff, theres 4 models i'd point out to you inside my store. Understanding that these are not your only options, and that I think that the aethetic design of the computer (how nice you think it looks) should definitely play a role, i'm sure any of these should be able to meet the demands you specified.

Overall these are pretty close to your price limit, and I chose these assuming you wish to spend 900-1000 on the laptop and already counted in taxes, accessories, softwares etc. Just to let you know I discounted some models to give you the higher quality, however some models which come out to cost less would still meet your specified criteria. Very new user needs help setting up a three user network plus server

Hi,
I'm an owner/manager of a recruitment company in the UK and we use three mac minis in our office to run our recruitment software (on a filemaker database) internet, mail and MS Office 2008.
We currently use one of the mini's as a 'server' in so much that it has a external HDD attached and shared across the network. We use Airport Extreme to share the internet.
Although to begin with this set up has served us well the amount of data travelling across the network and the prospect of a couple of new employees starting has made me think it's time to invest in a network and server of some description.
With my very limited knowledge i'm proposing the following but would greatly appreciate some assistance from the forum users!
Install OSX 10.5.3 Server on one of the Mac Minis
Get an ethernet switch and cable the three minis together
Use the external HDD as a time machine backup and store all files on the 'server' HDD
Continue to use the Airport Extreme to share the internet over airport.
I have a couple of questions:
Can the Server computer still be used as a desktop or do we need to buy a new mini
Does this set up make the airport base station redundant
As we grow I would envisage enlisting the help of a specialist Mac IT support company but in the mean time any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would get something better specified than a mini to be my Mac OS X based server, and although you can run it as a desktop I wouldnt advise it.
You ought to go out and buy the book Mac OS X Server 10.5 Essentials - The only Apple-certified book on Mac OS X Server - which Ive found to be a godsend of a book in getting Leopard Server going. Make sure you get the 10.5 version. Im in the UK and got it from Foyles in London.
Your approach is fine, but Leopard Server isnt as plug and go as the rest of Apples products. In particular it just doesnt function correctly if you do not have working DNS before you start. Period. If you dont understand DNS in your office or If having read the book you find its too technical you might be better off buying a no-brand Network File Store/Disk or even a Time Capsule from Apple if its mainly shared disk space that you need.

New user needs help with HD choices

I just found this forum and it looks like something I am going to enjoy. I have Premiere Pro CS 5.0 and use it to process AVCHD video. My hardware is made up of Asus P9X79 Pro, i7 3930k, 16 GB memory, and GTX 470 vid card. I also have an SSD as my main boot drive - it is an OCZ Revodrive.
I would like help in setting up my hard drives for the Adobe software, so have listed my storage drives along with current usage and ATTO benchmark results:
Drive 0 - Revodrive - ATTO = 800 - Used for Win 7 -64 Pro and Adobe software
Drive 1 - WD Black 2TB - ATTO = 140 - Used for MTS file storage
Drive 2 - WD Black 2TB - ATTO = 140 - Used for Scratch Files
Drive 3 - Samsung 1TB - ATTO = 60 - Used for Finished files (Encore files and for saving MP4 files for web upload)
Drive 4 - WD Black 1TB - ATTO = 120 - Used for backup
Drive 5&6 - 2 each Hitachi 750GB in Raid - ATTO = 180 - Used for backup (Drives are attached to Marvel Raid port on Motherboard)
I realize that drive #3 is the slowest drive and should probably be used for other things. I am open to suggestions.

Sounds like a strong system, and it should be just fine for AVCHD video.
Suggest:
Boot / OS / programs - Revodrive is fine; you can also assign media cache and media cache DB (CS5 setting) to this drive
Data drive - create a RAID 0 array from your current drives 1 and 2 - use this for projects and media, and pretty much whatever other data needs you have for your PC
scratch / output drive - use for current matching 5 & 6 Hitachi's in RAID 0 for scratc and render outputs
all others - use 3 & 4 for backups
You should probably run PPBM5 and report the 4 "scores" to the PPBM5 site and also back here to get a reality check that everything is configured and working properly for your system.
