FLASH IN MAC- File transfer

okay, I'm a newbie... trying to put flash video onto website.  when i publish the files, and click on the .html, it works fine.  When I relocate the files into another folder (ie, on the server or even the desktop), the .html stops working.  Is there something within the code that makes it LOCATION SPECIFIC between the flv, swf, and swf players?
HELP...

Into another folder is probably the issue. If the html and the swf are in
the same folder, then they should work, if you seperate the swf to another folder then your call path int he html needs to reflect that for example:
Simple sites with just an index.html and a .swf, put together into root folder on server and would be called in the html with something like "yourfile.swf". But If you have a more complicated site and maybe have a files structure with subfolders, then your index.html must go into the root folder as default, but if you have multiple swfs or images you may have a folder called swf or images etc, so the path from the index.html must reflect that in the above case the object/embed code in the html would need to "swffolder/youfile.swf"
Check your path calls.

How is proper to transfer file from PC to MAC?
Copying files using XP and sharepoints fast!
Copying files connecting to XP via OS X slowwwwwwwww!!!
What gives? AFP is fast between macs at 11 MB/S. Xfer between XP and OS X trying to initiate the xfer on XP to an OS X sharepoint only gives 500 kbps. ***???????????????????

when i was trying to transfer stuff from my pc to my mac, when i tried to initiate it on the mac, it was REALLY slow. when i initiated it on the pc, it went very quick. i did mine via firewire but was surprised that speed seemed to depend on which computer the transfer was initiated on. maybe try starting the transfer from the mac and see what happens?

  • PC - Mac file transfer?

My mac has 9.2.2 on it, and I'm trying to bring a 4.3gb file onto it from a pc with windows 2000...  Can anybody help? I've looked all over the internet, but I've only found guides for mac osx...

Perhaps the easiest way to do the transfer would be to drop the Windows file into a 8 gig thumb drive and plug it into the Mac. Whether it could be translated to usable condition in OS 9 is a question, however.
You could also email the file, as an attachment, to the OS 9 machine from the Windows machine. Again, translation could be a problem. If it's pictures, should be OK. Hope this helps.

  • File transfer via flash drive locks MacBook

Switched from a PC laptop recently to a MacBook. After the usual growing pains, still have a problem occasionally in transferring large files (folders of IT documentation and some are 300-500MB) via my Cruzer 1GB flash drive. Some transfer fine, while others lock up the machine before the transfer is complete. After recovering, can transfer the file again and it may work OK. Any ideas would be appreciated.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2GB RAM

My friend, I believe you're right on. I may be speaking too soon but I tried my Verbatim flash drive and transferred three rather large files with no problems whatsoever. Hopefully the problem is solved. I was glad to see someone else was having the same problem. I was about to dump this MacBook. The transferring of files is important to my work and I haven't got time to fool with the problem. Thanks again.

  • Mac files to PC transfer help request

    Hi,
I have a Power Mac G3 Beige and would like some assistance/advice in how to transfer my file to a PC.
    Here's some additional information:
    I'm using OS 9.0.4. It's a 4 Gig hard drive, and I've 102 MB free space available.
The computer had some damage. As a result: the floppy disk drive no longer works (clicks continually), and the available memory randomly "reduces" to 0 if used to long (I usually just delete files and after a while, the memory returns, but never goes too far over 100 MB). DiskTools fixed the memory issue somewhat (I can at least go a couple of hours without losing all memory, whereas before I could rather last an hour before running out of memory).
The computer also uses an external Iomega SCSI Zip 100 Drive.
I've a number of files on the computer, about 20 cds, and about 30 100 MB zip disks. The files aren't organized properly (there are dupes, here and there). A lot of the files relate to websites (I'm a web developer).
What I want to do is somehow transfer all of my files to my PC; combine them with my PC files; organize them; and then back up all of my files (method TBD). My initial problem is getting the files to the PC.
Here are the options I've considered:
FTP: I can try using the internet to ftp the files, but that'd take a long time, and I've several gigs worth of files. Additionally, for some reason, transferring files from Mac to FTP takes much longer than PC to FTP (a file that's transferred on the PC in 5 minutes, may take 20-30 minutes via the Mac).
*ZIP DRIVE:* I'd like to put the files on the zip disks and transfer things that way. However, I don't know how to get my PC to recognize my zip drive. If that's possible, this would be a route I'd like to explore.
NETWORK: I have a copy of Dave, which in the past I've used successfully. However, the big problem I had was that the filenames of the Mac files were renamed once transferred to the PC, resulting in some files now working. I renamed the files I wanted to work - and things worked fine. However, I'd rather not have to rename everything, or even have to check, as there are a lot of files. I just want a straight copy.
*CD/DVD BURN:* I don't have a cd/dvd burner for the Mac. If there's one that anyone can recommend for use with OS 9.0.4, even if it's an old piece of hardware, I'd definitely consider this route.
*FLASH DRIVE:* One problem I had years ago (when I was using this computer regularly, is upgrading. My recollection is fuzzy, but I think the reason I didn't upgrade my OS is because to do so would be to erase my hard drive, and I wanted to back up my files first...which goes back to the main topic of this email. I mention this because I wouldn't mind hooking up a flash drive to the Mac, transferring files there, then transferring files to the PC. However, I think I'd need to upgrade to a higher OS, and I do not want to erase the drive until I'm sure I can get the files. And there's also the issue with my random memory outages. I can probably free up another 100 MBs by deleting some programs, but that's about it. There's not much on the computer. Yes, that's odd, it should be somewhere around 3 GIGs, but the damage screwed up the computer somehow. I never could determine where the memory went to.
The above are just the ones I've considered. I'm sure I'm missing some others.
I'm willing to invest some money in making this happen, but I'd like to keep it low, as this would be a _one-time transfer_. I haven't decided as to whether I'm going to trash it afterwards or donate it yet, but I definitely plan to no longer use it.
Considering the hurdles above, any help/advice is appreciated - and would bring me one step closer to purchasing a new Mac.
    Thanks.
    -Stephen

Wow. Okay, i've done this before myself with large amounts of data, by several means. Here's how:
    1. I used Dave 3.1, passing the ethernet cables through an ethernet hub (an actual router is not necessary). I don't recall having a filename issue with Dave but i do recall it working quite well. I'll bet there's a setting or something in Dave regarding filenames, e.g. select Joliet or 31 char instead of ISO 9660. I cannot believe Dave won't transfer 31 char filenames.
    2. More recently, i regularly use my 2 GB USB flash drive to xfer files, and there is NO filename issue. Of course, you need USB which means a PCI card for the Beige G3 if it doesn't already have one. OS9 only supports 31 char filenames, and these are always transferred just fine to Windows via my Windows-formatted flash drive. OS 9.0.4 should handle most USB drives. If not, you can upgrade to 9.1 or 9.2.1 for free--without erasing or otherwise messing up your startup drive. However.... if the computer is having problems, it might be a bad idea to try to upgrade the OS, especially if all your data is on the same drive.
    3. Many if not most IDE CD/RW drives will work with Toast 5+ in OS9. Many will even work with Toast 4. In fact, i don't think i've ever found one that didn't work with Toast 5. I'm not sure about OS9's built-in Disc Burner software because i never use it. Toast is too good.
    4. A Zip drive would be an excruciatingly slow way to do it but the filenames do arrive intact. Of course, the disks have to be formatted for Windows.
    5. I'm not sure about OS9's "Personal Web Pages" but i've used Netpresenz and it works great. That might be the best way to do it but i'm not sure how it would work if you're doing this at home and only have one internet connection. Doesn't quite seem to make sense. Why not just direct connect with Dave..?
Btw, the one method you missed was this: open each file on the Mac with Hexedit, and copy down all the 1's and 0's onto a piece of paper (it may take several sheets). Then go to Windows, open Winhex, and type in all the 1's and 0's. Then give the file the same name as it had on the Mac, and voila! Do this for each file you want to transfer. Shouldn't take more than about 500 years.
    Gluck.

  • My mac book is flashing a grey file with a question mark does any one know what this could be?

my mac book is flashing a grey file with aQuestion mark in it what does that mean does anyone know?

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the hard drive data is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the optical drive.
Once it has finished booting and you are at the Install screen launch Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then select the First Aid Tab run Repair Disk and if that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

  • How to see the  file transfer speed on a mac

Hi, I'm kind of a beginner with a Mac, I have worked on windows for all this years and now I have a small dilema. Can someone please tell me how you can see the file transferring speed on a mac. When you copy and paste from one drive to another, or from time capsule to my mac, etc a dialog appears showing you a progress bar and the time remaining. I would also like to see the speed of the transfer. Is it posible to see this variable?

In windows - vista when you copy or paste a folder from one location to another in the file transfer pop-up you can see the speed of the transfer.(You must press the more details arrow on that pop-up). Does Leopard has any configuration for this kind of information.
I will try iGet and write here my feedback.

  • File transfer between mac and windows 7

Is it possible to transfer files between my Mac and a windows 7 machine via bluetooth?
    MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.4
    Thanks

It will be slow, but there's no reason it shouldn't work as long as the Bluetooth hardware on both computers has the File Transfer Profile (all Macs do), and *Bluetooth Sharing* is checked in the Sharing system preferences pane on the Mac.
If the computers are close enough to send files via Bluetooth, you'd be much better off just networking them together. You can then "mount" the PC hard disk on the Mac like any other disk and move files around easily. It will be hundreds of times faster too.

  • Android File Transfer not working with MAC OSX 10.9.5

I have a Kurio Extreme for my child, and I have downloaded and used Android File Transfer in the past. Recently two things have changed. My OS, and the Kurio tablet. I attempted to use it today, and the device is not recognized.
I reached out to the Kurio Helpdesk and they state that the issue is either with the OS software or AFT. I have removed AFT, rebooted the computer, downloaded it again, all to no avail.
Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

This problem could arise if you have installed Kies. What it does is, it installs drivers which is not compatible with android file transfer app.
Now the solution for this problem is properly uninstall kids from your mac, to do this follow the steps:
    1. Check the security and privacy settings in your system preference whether the settings for "Allow apps download from" to "Anywhere" (to set this first click the lock button on the left of your screen by entering your password, this will enable the option to be changed)
    2. After you are done with the first step open the kies installation file (file that is used to install kies, if you have deleted the file, download it again) open the file there you will find an option "uninstall". Click and follow the instruction.
    3. When you have successfully deleted the app, restart your mac.
    4. Install Android file transfer app if you haven't done it yet.
    5. Connect your android device
    6. BANG! It will work just fine. Hope it helps!!

  • TC - Painfully Slow for file transfer. How to solve it (PC + MAC) ?

I have a dell laptop and a mac book air, both connected to my TC. Transferring files is a joke. I am a novei mac user. How can this slowness issue be fixed for both the pc and mac? As I am writing this, i am currently doing a software update on my macbook air, getting 10.5.3 now. Does this solve it?

    Similar problem here.
iMac using 802.11n to connect to time capsule. Time capsule configured to use 802.11n (b/g compat), and WPA/WPA2 security.
Typical transfer rate (file transfer from imac to tc) of about 2Mbps. After reboot of the TC, speed can sometimes hit 6Mbps.
I have played with the security settings. After a softboot with new config:
    - no security, 802.11n mode: 12Mbps throughput
    - WEP security, 802.11n mode: 8Mbps
    - WPA/WPA2 security, 802.11n mode: 6Mbps
Enabling interference robustness seems to have little or no effect.
All of these speeds are significantly lower than what I'd expect.
No other devices were on the wireless network during the testing.
I've read that alot of others are having similar issues. I suspect that most of these devices are running extremely slowly, but most people aren't bothering to check throughput.
Would love to know if there is a real fix out there. 802.11n should be much much faster than this. If I could reconfigure the TC to use 802.11g, I would.

  • Skyp file transfer on LAN slow for windows and Mac...

    Hi,
We are extensively use skype and since we upgrade skype to 6.18 and above ... file transfer on LAN is super slow... to transfer file 200MB it took over 15 minutes but when i'm skype 6.16 it took about 45 seconds... can anyone lemme know to fix it or tweak it on both Mac and windows so i can speed up file transfer on LAN....

I've been experiencing the same issue. I keep having to downgrade to 6.16 and cancel automatic updates for this same reason. It's really frustrating as my work involves sendig and receiving files via Skype. Versions 6.18 and up not only are too slow (a large file, for example, that would normally take 18 hours or less to transfer takes 1 week! on 6.18 and higher) but also slow down my whole connection while surfing. 6.16 allows me to transfer at a fast speed and I can watch videos and have a 256k livestream radio going, be on a skype call and still have enough speed to download from the Internet without slowing anything down. This is completely unacceptable. I see that no one has replied to this and nothing has been done to fix this issue. I wonder if Skype even browses through these.

  • Is Thunderbolt file transfer working with two mac?

    Simple Question.
I have two mac with Thunderbolt input.
Connect two mac with thunderbolt cable.
and i want transfer files like useing as firewire,Ethernet.
i can't add thunderbolt service in Network preference.
    what did i missing?

Hey. I have IMac late 20013 with SSD and one Macbook Air SSD, both running maveriks.
After connecting them with Thunderbolt activating the interface on both under network and closeing the wifi on one of them. TB file transfer worked just fine. But if wifi was on it tends to prefer that interface and get much slower transfer. I tested with a 1gb file and it took about a second. So yes. Filetransfer works with out jumping in to target mode.
