Flash link results pop-up, but not online

Hi there,
Hope someone can help me with this because I'm pulling the
hairs out of my head.
I have a XHTML page with 2 iFrames, 1 frame named 'topframe',
the other named 'bottomframe'.
When I create a .swf file in Flash CS, embed it in
'topframe', and it has an link to open up 'test.html' in
'bottomframe',
and I test this out on my Dual core Intel Mac (OS X.4.9), the
'test.html' file doesn't open in the bottom iframe but in a blanc
new window.
Now here is the odd thing, if I upload everything to my site,
and then test it out, it works, and 'test.html' does open in the
bottom iFrame.
Any idea what is going wrong here? It's very frustrating to
work this way.
Rick

OK, found it. I needed the mm_css_menu.js file uploaded.

  • Links work in Dreamweaver but not online

Hello, I am trying to figure out why my flash files work correctly locally but don't after I upload them. I am using Mac Flash CS4 and AS2. (They were CS3 files originally)
When I use Safari to view the uploaded files and check the Activity window it shows the files load but they don't show up. I have a main swf and others are loaded into it using:
    on (release) {
    loadMovieNum("flash/links.swf", 1);
Are there any known bugs/work arounds to be aware of?  Thanks. -Derryl

Almost always when something works locally but not on line... it's a path problem. And I see that you are accessing your .swf from a sub file.... nothing at all wrong with that, but you do need to understand how pathing in Flash works:
    Pathing issues
Almost always when it works on the local machine and not the server, it's a pathing problem.
You can put your Flash related files in whatever folders you want, they do NOT have to be in the root, they do NOT all have to be in the same folder. But if you have a problem and if sticking them all in the root folder works, then you know that the issue was a pathing problem.
Just remember that paths used in the .swf become relative to the Web page on which the .swf is placed, NOT it’s physical location.  So for example, if your .swf is in the flash/data folder and you use that .swf on a Web page in the root folder, you are in effect, removing that .swf from flash/data and putting it in root. So if the .swf is loading any related files (xml, images, video, etc), the path used inside the .swf to load the .xml file has to be relative to it's new location in root and then back down into flash/data. This is true even though when testing the .swf by itself, it can be inside flash/data and work just fine, since relative to it's location, the path is just fine, they are in the same folder. But if that same path is used when the .swf is placed on a page two folder levels up, the relative path has changed, the old "same folder" path will not work.
In fact if you are placing the .swf on a web page in a different folder than the .swf is stored in, and that .swf calls external assets, then direct clicking and opening of the .swf in it’s folder should NOT work! That’s because the paths to the external assets should be relative to the Web page and not the physical location of the .swf.
So just be sure that you use addresses relative to the final Web page locations (not physical file locations) and you can put the Flash related files in what ever folders you want.

  • Since upgrading Firefox, it no longer accepts URLs in the URL bar - it works if I have a bookmark, a link or from History, but not if I enter or paste a URL.

Firefox 33.0.2 on Windows 8.1 64 bit. Since upgrading Firefox, it no longer accepts URLs in the URL bar - it works if I have a bookmark, a link or from History, but not if I enter or paste a URL and hit <enter>, in which case nothing happens at all.
I have found that issue reported for Ubuntu (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1011935?esab=a&as=aaq) but not for Windows. The solution there to change the keyboard is not feasible since it's a laptop with a built-in keyboard.
I did not have this issue with FF 28 (I finally upgraded because I was getting BSODs) and I don't have this issue with any other Browser on same platform.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Link works on mac but not on pc

    Hi -
I am trying to insert a jpg into a dreamweaver file.
I then upload the html file along with the jpg to my server in a folder called "layout"
    So the url is:  http://www.mysite.com/layout/test.html
The link works on mac, but not on pc's.
    Any idea why?
Some links work on pc's like this, and others don't.
    Thanks- It's driving me crazy!!

The link is not correct....you have it listed as" mysite.com", which I assume is where you are to insert the name of your url.

  • Flash 10 works in FF but not Safari, OS X 10.5

About a week ago flash stopped working in Safari and both firefox and safari started bugging me to install a newer version.  Muttering, I went to the download page and downloaded the latest, which claims to be for Safari, Opera, and firefox.
Installation completes fine with no errors.  Firefox works.  But in Safari, I just get the usual 'no flash installed, would you like to download it?'
I've downloaded and installed multiple times, no dice.  Plug-ins are enabled on Safari.  I do not have settings folders to delete--/Library/Application Supprt/Adobe has no flash player folder, only Acrobat, Updater6, and Help.
This whole thing is a black box and I don't see what else to do.  Installation completes and there's no way to verify anything.  Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks! BTW I'm also having trouble updating Adobe Reader. I have 9.4.0 and want to update to the new Adobe Reader X. I keep getting Error 1402 which refers to the registry keys. I am unable to completely uninstall the old version. After receiving the error message it reloades the older version. I read about how to modify the registry to accept it but I believe this is a very wierd way to have to get an update loaded. Any suggestions?

  • Flash videos choppy in IE8 but not Firefox?

I noticed when watching most Flash content in IE8 it has a lot of brief pauses which makes videos appear choppy, But if I open the same video in Firefox it plays fine, Is there anything I can check that might be causing this issue? Im running the same (latest) version of flash in both browsers.
Here's one example, If I play this in Firefox the framerate is smooth, but in IE8 it has random pauses throughout the video: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-modnation-racers/100079

  • Web sites containing mms links work in IE but not Firefox 4.0

Web sites containing mms links work in IE but not Firefox 4.0. when I play the video in IE, I go into IE, and locate the mms link under properties, when I right click. If I copy the mms link form IE directly into firefox, it will work. There ought to be a better way to do this. Also, I am using a hardware firewall, not a software firewall, and no proxy.

You need to use the file:// protocol, but you may still encounter problems if you fix that.

As you didn't say what kind of computer, what operating system, or what version of iTunes it is very hard to give any meaningful advice. You might start with these:

  • Flash site works locally but not online (uploaded to server)

We have bought a flash portfolio template and have customized it with our pictures, video, etc.
When we test it locally on our computer (using different web browsers) it all works perfectly well. We have uploaded the finished website to our server and when you go to the address online, it doesn't work (a loader progress shows but it is stopped and nothing happens).
We have however uploaded the original template we bought and it works perfectly online.
The template consists of and index.html, various .swf, and various .xml that we have modified according to the template instructions (it also contains a java script folder we haven't touched).
What is it wrong with our modified template - it works locally without problem…!
    Thanks for your help

When a Flash file works locally but not on-line, it's almost always a pathing issue (provided you did upload ALL files and do not have something missing... as suggested by Ned).
A "pathing issue" results when the main .swf cannot find one or more of the associated Flash files...like an xml file or images.
It can be something as simple as using switching file names to all lower case. Local machine is not case sensative... most servers are. So "My Photo.JPG" is not the same as "my_photo.jpg". When naming files, best to use all lower case, no spaces in any file or folder names... use_underscore_instead.
But the most common cause is that those associated files (xml, images, etc.) are not pathed relative to the Web page where the main .swf is embedded. Pathing to the .xml and image files should be as though the .swf was located in the same folder as the Web page... NOT the actual location of the .swf file.
And that includes paths to the xml file and paths to image files coded into those xml files. Everything need to be coded relative to the Web page.

  • Swf works in Flash App but not online!

    Hi Guys,
I am sitting with a situation I cannot figure out.
In The Flash Application, my gallery is working as it is meant to. Yet, when I upload the swf to the live site, the first image, text and movie of my gallery works but it refuses to scroll to the next item in my XML.
I have given it an absolute path to that server which works in Flash but not when it is online.
Has someone come across this anomaly before? I don't even know where to begin debugging.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Better u check the XML image names and the image path are correct.

Make sure your server is configured to serve .flv files. Ask
    your host if
there is a mime type set up for that file extension.

  • ASAP!!  Flash Player Works on Computer But Not Live.  (Could Be Easy)

I need to present this site in a couple of hours and ran into this problem.
I just added a Flash button that works perfectly on every single page except my gallery.php.  All the other pages are .html.  On my computer I can see the button perfectly, but when I uploaded and viewed the file it tells me to update my player.  Why would it not work live and does it have anything to do with it being a .php file?  Here's a link that works, The "Primerica" button on the top right is the focal point.
    Works:
    http://shepardsuperteam.com/chris/inner_circle.html
    Doesn't Work
    http://shepardsuperteam.com/chris/gallery.php
It looks more presentable in IE7 than FF but I need to remedy this ASAP!!!

With an intermittent problem, whether a solution really works
needs to be tested extensively. Someone else reported being able to
play Flash in FF with Flash 9 installed, IF they also had Flash 8
installed. But in that case and in yours, was there sufficient
testing before the solution was reported? Check out this page with
FF (it's a page that tends to generate the problem with a high
    frequency, but not always):
    http://www.yoism.org/?q=node/52#jill
If repeated testing on that page doesn't crash your ability
to play Flash, then your solution may really work. What version of
Flash does Adobe say you have when you visit this page?:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507&sliceId=1
The other problem with IE is probably unrelated to this. Did
you reinstall Flash for IE? For IE, you have to run the exe program
    with winax.exe in the name.

  • ADOBE FLASH PLAYER PLAY ON IE BUT NOT IN FIREFOX

I work for years with Firefox, now I have format my hard drive and install Adobe flash player and Firefox again, but Flash player do not work in Firefox, it work only in Inter Explorer, did try all forums and try all the guy`s say there , when I install flash it go to 50% and then stop, there is not a plug-in for Firefox, please help me to solve this problem, I did download the latest flash player from Adobe, please give me the address where i can download the plugin.

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:
*an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only
*a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox
*On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
'''''You do not appear to have the Plugin version for Firefox installed. ''''' If you did, in Add-ons > Plugins you would see "Shockwave Flash ''(version)''". If "Shockwave Flash" is there and is disabled, click the "Enable" button.
Check your Plugins often --> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
*only the most popular/used Plugins are known by this page
*page will detect only installed, '''''enabled''''' Plugins
    '''<u>Install or update Adobe Flash</u>'''<br />
#'''<u>Using Firefox</u>''', go to the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later. Un-check any items on that page that you do not want to download (i.e., "McAfee Security Scan Plus":
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    #*The installation is quick.
#Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

  • Link to a URL but not using popup

I am trying to access anHTML file that loads an interactive swf file created in Flash with external links to XML and graphic files. I need to present the interactive swf file and still have access to the navigation click boxes on the slide that loads the swf file. I have tried the open URL with New selected which gives me a popup. Displaying the popup requires that the learner close the popup in order to return to the base project.
    Thanks in advance.
    tgafford

    Hi there
You could configure the popup so that it closed at the end of the play.  But then again, you said it was created in Flash and not Captivate.
I'm thinking that perhaps you are wanting a Frameset in the HTML, but  not sure. If you used a Frameset, you could then have navigation  occurring in one frame while what you have navigated *TO* appears in  another frame.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Have two browsers, Chrome and Chromium, flash is installed on one but not the other

    Hi All,
I have spent a ton of time on this and am stuck.
I have two browsers, Chrome and Chromium, they both have separate profiles(Chrome has work profile Chromium has personal profile).  The Chrome installation is fine,  I have the plugins in the Chrome://plugins and everything is great.
The Chromium browser is not so great.  I have tried the install maybe 30 different times.  The scenarios are:
    I have tried using the Chromium/Opera install-able
    one with the browser closed
    one with it open
I have tried the regular Chrome install-able
    one with the browser closed
    one with it open
I have tried the diagnostic tool: Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows - It says I have the plugin installed but it is not enabled.  Then i look at the chrome://plugins and there are 3 plugins listed: Chrome PDF Viewer (2 files), Chromoting Viewer and Native Client, all of which are enabled.
I have tried to download and install directly from the installer site: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_ppapi.ex e
Any help would be really great.
    Thanks so much.
    Sean

Chrome comes with a built-in version of Flash Player.  Everything else built on Chromium does not.  Fortunately, there's a standalone PPAPI installer for Chromium-based browsers.  It's only available for Windows at the moment.
Now, the browser itself may need to do some work to be able to discover and support Flash Player (particularly if they're not actively staying on the latest available PPAPI interface), so not every Chromium fork is going to work, and it's nowhere near as mature as the player in Chrome, but it's a thing that exists.  We've been doing a lot of work with the Opera team on the PPAPI Flash Player, and Opera Next is an active Chromium-based project.
If you run into problems, please file bugs over at http://bugbase.adobe.com/.
Anyway, to get the download, use the link below.
