Flash link
I got a really easy question for you experts But for a newbie like me its hard. Here is my question and my code:
Im trying to make a whole website on my computer before putting it online. But when i try to link a web page made also in flash or an image(that are on my computer). Flash looks over the internet and not on my relative path (on computer). What do i do wrong ?
box1 is my button and also if i put www.google.com instead of a piucture path, flash can find it but nothing that is on my computer.
Here is the code i used :
box1.onRelease = function(){
getURL("C:\Sitewebportefolio\images","_blank");
Oh ps.: i use As2 and flash cs5.5
i think were really close to the answer, but there must be something i dont understand.... i tried with web page and with pictures, i still get same message from chrome browser. Here is the last code i tried instead of on(release):
on(press)
getURL("images/ecole.jpg","_blank");
heres what i get from browser on the test :
adress bar followed by message wich means little issue...google chrome wasnt able to find the page called images:
http://images/ecole.jpg
Petit problème... Google Chrome n'est pas parvenu à trouver la page images.

I have loaded an swf file into a dreamweaver page. This swf
file contains links to other html pages, however, when i preview
the page in the browser these links from the swf file don't work.
Does anyone know if they will work once it is officially published
to a live site? Or is there something I need to do/change in order
to get the links to work when I preview the page?If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
2. Search engines don't parse Flash links - your site will
not be spidered
3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
will those users
do?
4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons...

Urgent Help! Flash Links not working on PC but fine on Mac??
I need urgent help as my client is expecting a fully working site this week and i can't seem to understand what the problem is with the site i created www.tuarard.ie. The links such as the link 'download current programme' which is on the splash page works fine on mac but not on pc. there are other various links throughout the the site as well which don't work on pc.
Could someone please help me fix this problem. i am guessing the flash in fine but that the html is causing the problems. i am a beginner in the world of html so i know very little about it.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
PeterI know this is hindsight, and likely more of an opinion-based answer, but except for the original dynamic "opening" of the flash homepage there wasn't anything I saw on the pages other than the scrolling photos at the top that required flash to accomplish. Flash is cool (I use it frequently for sections of a page - banner animations, etc.), but I've found it's often more trouble than it's worth unless every section of you site will feature something amazing or compelling to use it...
It's not search engine friendly (unless all of your text is linked externally, and even then limited), the correct player needs to be loaded on the viewer's machine to view, and it opens (generally) much slower than a standard html page...
Having said that - I think the site looks great - and fits the feel of the content, (and worked fine on the mac and windows browsers I tried here...) -
I had integrated a flash menu into my site but now the links
aren't working. It was working earlier, so I am wondering if there
is something in my code that could be conflicting with it. It's the
top menu -

ThanksVery strange, but it isn't working on my computer, and then
my graphic designer who has been working on the site a lot said it
is now all of a sudden not working for her. Any thoughts on this.
Eveyone that views for the first time says it works. Here is the
code:

getURL("

Flash links show undefined please help ASAP
I just downloaded a trial of Flash CS5 and made a few text changes on my file then i uploaded the .swf file and all the links are undefined. You can see it at www.secretlyspoiled.com please help me.
thanks!!!!Did you test the file from your hard drive before you uploaded it? My first guess is that either the links are incorrect, or that some needed Actionscript classes did not get imported into your file. Its impossible to tell what's wrong without more information or seeing the actual file.
-
I have to complete this file in Flash 5, but the action
script is being weird. When exported and viewed as a swf. file
online, the links bring up new pages where the whole page is a link
to another page.
My action scrips is simply this:
on(release){
getURL("
http://www.myriadmedia.net/honduras.html",
"_blank");
For this one, no image appears (even though the html has been
uploaded onto my ftp site and works when I test the movie in
Flash). Before the website says "Done" on the bottom, revealing no
image, you can roll your mouse over where the image should be, and
it's a link to
http://www.myriadmedia.net/3addyawards.html
- I've never set this. Can anyone tell me why this would be
happening? And why this final link won't bring up anything at all?
All links are within one layer, and action scripts for each link
are within its own action panel.
Thanks.i went to honduras.html and viewed the source.. and look what
I found.
<a href="
http://www.myriadmedia.net/3addyawards.html"><img
src="honduras.jpg" width="800" height="900" border="0"
/></a>
so yes, the image is link, and has nothing to do with flash..
it doesnt appear you have an image named honduras.jpg in that
folder, again, having nothing to do with flash.. if the button is
functioning properly, then nothing is wrong with flash.. this is
100% user error. -
I am attempting to link a picture so when it is clicked a new
window opens up and plays the embedded flash movie:
<a href="
flash.html" target="_blank"><img
src="Assets/Images/flashpic.gif" width="158" height="134"
border="0" /></a>
The flash.html page was published directly from the flash
file in Flash 8.0. However whenever I test it I get a "waiting for
localhost error" and am unsure how to solve this. I am running PHP
4.4.4 and Apache 1.3 so I know localhost is working.
Any help is greatly appreciated> The flash.html page was published directly from the
flash file in Flash 8.0.
> However whenever I test it I get a "waiting for
localhost error"
what are the contents of flash.html?
best- please give a link to the uploaded flash.html file

FireFox 4.0 won't access some PDF links and Flash Links
When going to this web site I just see the URL at the top "Go to this web site", and the content field below is white page which never populates. When I go to the website http://deuxave.com/menus and click on one of the Flash button links for one of the menu type selections, nothing happens.
Thanks for your response, the thing is I don't want the end user to have to go through these steps in order to be able to see my pdf file as it renders in older versions of Firefox.
What I've noticed is the use of buttons and interactivity is not been rendered, so it doesn't even show up in the page. The drop shadows applied within InDesign are also not been properly render by the browser, making the background of the image surrounded by dark background.
I have temporarily fixed the problem by getting rid of my drop shadows and using regular hyperlinks on text instead of interactive buttons.
Hope this issue gets fixed, since interactive pdfs is widely used today.

Hi all,
Maybe can someone help me with this. I have a webpage that is
done in HTML. I need the links to direct into another site that is
done in flash. The links from the HTML have to direct into
particular movie clips in flash. Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks allin your html file you can use something like the following:
<a href="
http://www.yoursite.com/yourSWF.swf?yourVar=frame5">your
link to frame5</a>
<a href="
http://www.yoursite.com/yourSWF.swf?yourVar=frame10">your
link to frame10</a>
and in yourSWF.swf's first frame you can use something like: -
Flash link results pop-up, but not online
Hi there,
Hope someone can help me with this because I'm pulling the
hairs out of my head.
I have a XHTML page with 2 iFrames, 1 frame named 'topframe',
the other named 'bottomframe'.
When I create a .swf file in Flash CS, embed it in
'topframe', and it has an link to open up 'test.html' in
'bottomframe',
and I test this out on my Dual core Intel Mac (OS X.4.9), the
'test.html' file doesn't open in the bottom iframe but in a blanc
new window.
Now here is the odd thing, if I upload everything to my site,
and then test it out, it works, and 'test.html' does open in the
bottom iFrame.
Any idea what is going wrong here? It's very frustrating to
work this way.
RickOK, found it. I needed the mm_css_menu.js file uploaded.

Flash linking button to a .html in frame
is this possible?
say i have 2 frames,
frame1 = flash file (.swf)
frame2 = homepage.html
and in flash, i make a button that opens up bla.html in
frame2?
if so what is the code to link a flash button to a frame,
html page?
thanksthanks for that now i got 1 part working. i can open up the
web page but not in the right frame... im working on trying to get
the correct frame open cause no matter what i type it always opens
up in a new window :(
but yer, the url you type in is relative to where the flash
file is on the site. i can put up with that for my site but if you
find out how to make the address 'absolute' it would be helpful for
the future :)
lets see if i can figure out how to get this opening in the
correct frame
edit: i just realized i forgot to type in '
http://'... so if you type that it gets the
absolute address :P -
Hi,
Please forgive me...these may be novice questions, but...I am
preparing a new web page for myself in Dreamweaver MX, and want to
incorporate a Flash animation I made in Flash MX. The Flash
animation contains a button with a link to a web site. The link
works perfectly in the Flash player, but as soon as I embed it in a
table in Dreamweaver, then check the page in IE7, the link no
longer works (but the animation still does). My questions are:
a) Why do the links work in the Flash player, but not in IE
7, and how can I fix them so that they do work in a browser?
b) When I open the web page containing the Flash animation in
IE7, and slide my mouse over the area, a visible border appears
around the part of the table containing the animation. How do I get
rid of that border 'effect'? I want the animation to just blend in
with the rest of the page.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank
you...........frankThis is possibly because Microsoft has recently changed the
way their browsers handle flash. There is a neat solution however,
using FlashTag.js.
Get
http://www.macromedia.com/go/flashjavascript/
and then implement your flash in HTML using something like:
<script type="text/javascript">
var tag = new FlashTag('/folder/example.swf', 140, 120,
'7,0,19,0');
tag.write(document);
</script>
<noscript>
<object
classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0"
width="140"
height="120">
<param name="movie" value="/folder/example.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<embed src="/folder/example.swf" quality="high"
pluginspage="
http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
width="140"
height="120">
</embed>
</object>
</noscript>
I copied pasted from a movie that was 140x120 so you'll have
to change the heights in the three relevant places. You'll also
have to link into the FlashTag.js file in your HTML head, using for
example:
<script type="text/javascript"
src="/scripts/FlashTag.js"></script>
Hope this helps.
