Flash MX 6.0 price

Hello
My boss told me to investigate about Flash, and how much it
costs but I can't find any info about good old Flash MX 6.0 (only
about Flash 8) - how much does Flash MX 6.0 cost and from where can
we purchase it? Please be kind and post a direct link.
Best Regards

  • Do not buy the USB3 PNY Turbo Flash Drive!

I have highly recommended the USB 3 PNY Turbo Flash Drive in the recent past as a fantastic Read storage device.  Well do not buy it.  PNY drastically changed the memory chips inside without changing the model number and now it is a terrible device for holding your media for editing operations.
Thanks to Randall for making me aware of this problem.  I now have 4 of the older good type and 3 bum ones.  Here are two Windows 8 transfer plots of a large AVI file from the USB 3 Flash drive to a Samsung 840 Pro on my laptop.  The first one is the original one that I purchased last July with a file transfer rate of 185 MB/s, and the second plot is the lousy performance of 120 MB/sec.of one of the last devices purchased in November.
The new ones are usable but nowhere as desirable as the 1st generation.  I checked several websites and see that they no longer advertise the old faster specifications.  Also I have tested all my devices and scoring is consistent and very repeatable.  Now, that I know it is possible, I will start looking for a new vender that give the great read rate ideal for laptop editing.  Of course it is not as convenient as a USB 3 Flash drive but my Vantec NexStar 6G USB 3 SSD enclosure with a Samsung 840 Pro drive has a Read rate of 250 MB/second.

    Bill,
It looks like you may have to settle for a slower flash drive at this price point for the foreseeable future: Every single one of the USB 3.0 flash drives at this capacity point that delivers at least the same level of read performance as the original PNY Turbo costs much more money than the PNY. ($150-ish for a SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB USB 3.0 flash drive, anyone?)
With that said, the PNY Turbo 3.0 is only intended to compete with the slower USB 3.0 flash drives such as the SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 drive (whose maximum read speed is only 100 MB/sec even in its largest-capacity 128GB version).

  • Resizing a 3d(or not) image in flash professional CS6.

I need some help with a project I am working on.
I am looking to create a simple user menu where you would input 3 values. Width, Length and Height (The scale would be fairly simple W 0-19, H 0-23 and L 0-31. So limited)
These X,Y and Z values would then cause a image of a cube in that proportion to be displayed on a simple grid. Also flash would output a price using an equation using the inputted numbers.
I think I will be fine with the actionscript for the equation but I am at a bit of a loss of how to deal with the visuals? Do I draw multiple separate images and call them up individually or is there a way to manipulate this (apparent 3d image) using action script referencing the outcome of the equation.
I dont have much experience with manipulating 3D with flash. In this video I can see how to create a 3d box:
    http://noeruiz.com/tuts/how-to-create-3d-box-in-flash-cs4/
But could I then manipulate this using actionscript?
Or do I need to use a 3d package such as alterniva 3d?
There must be a simpler way? Any help is really appreciated and if completed i will post results here for everyone.
    Cheers

Away3D, Alternativa3D, Flare3D, they're all fine. If you're doing it for a commercial basis you'll need to consult the EULA of any specific framework but here's a simple example of Away3D in action (half way down the page is a cube):
    http://www.flashmagazine.com/Tutorials/detail/away3d_basics_5_-_primitives_part_1/
Not bad for only needing this much code:
    http://www.flashmagazine.com/articlefiles/away3d/Basic08_cube.as
All engines will require some kind of "set up" and then you can add things in, primitives like cubes, spheres, etc. Then lighting, materials, etc.
The line of code that made that cube was very approachable:
    // create cube
    var cube:Cube = new Cube({width:200,height:100,depth:300,bothsides:true});
// add to previously created scene (in link above)
    view.scene.addChild(cube);
// Set one of the cubeMaterials to a partially transparent white material
    cube.cubeMaterials.left = new ColorMaterial(0xffffff,{alpha:.3});
    That's pretty easy.

  • Newbie: Alternative Flash Developer Tool

    Hello,
    does anybody know an alternative
    Flash-Developer-Tool? Because the Adobe
    Flash Pro 3CS costs about 700$ :-(
Perhaps there is a free tool?
Or there is a "Privat" or "Student" Version
    for the Flash Pro 3CS?

maybe some investigating on the Adobe site is in order.. but
i believe there is a 'student' version, or 'education' version,
something like that. why not stick with flash 8 till the price
drops... whats the hurry to get CS3 and have to learn the syntax,
and deal with any bugs that havnt been patched yet?

  • I own a flash CS6 full license ($$$), I feel cheated by Adobe for CC pricing.

I always bought full licensed versions of Adobe Flash, because that's my main source of income, so out of ethics towards Adobe. (It's one of the easiest packages to crack out there, but I have never done it)
Now, CC arrived, and I who spent hundreds of euros a few months ago, will now pay 19.99$ a month Just like anybody else. This is the way Adobe rewards faithful customers.
There is no consideration for users who always paid full licenses.
Flash CC single product price is exactly the same even if you paid hundreds of $ for a full license of Flash CS6.
    Thumbs down, Adobe

  • My Briefcase on multiple flash drives

My client is a lawyer with a Windows 7 PC and laptop.  He is using MY Briefcase to sync files between the two machine.  He is VERY against using ANY on-line storage.  He wants to use two flash drives. (One as a copy of the other)  Is
this possible and if so do they need to be identical flash drives?  When he tries to use the second drive, he receives a message that there is not enough space.
    Thanks,
    John
    John Kenney The Haven Group

This one is a very good sync tool, your client can use it to sync files between local machine and flash drives, and between flash drives. The price is affordable too.
Windows Briefcase is, unfortunately, limited only to the use described on the help pages. Especially, it cannot sync two machines via a flash drive.
A more natural way to back up is the built-in Windows 7 backup tool. It does support external USB drivers.

  • Best Mac Pro (2013) configuration for photo editing/processing?

    Hi all,
I couldn't find a reliable answer to this in my searching here or on google, hence I'm posting it here.
I'm going to buy and upgrade to the new mac pro when it's announced this month (Dec 2013).  My primary use will be photo processing in photoshop.
Configuring it with 64gb RAM is the no-brainer part. And probably a 512gb or 1TB flash drive too.
The bit I'm unsure about is whether to opt for the 6 core processor option over the quad core?  For photo editing (adding layers, filters, brushing in, multiple files open at times, running batch edits etc), does anyone have an opinion on whether the performance increase (if there is in fact any increase for photo work?) of the 6 core 3.5ghz would justify paying the extra AU$1300 difference over the quad core 3.7ghz option?
And from my earlier research paying the huge prices for 8 or 12 cores would simply be a waste for photo processing.
    Thanks for the advice...

    Mozzzaaa
I have the exact same requirements, here are my findings based on some observations from Activity Monitor and research based on how the hardware works.
Photoshop does not utilize multiple cores well for many standard editing ativities - therefore one core will be busy while the rest remain idle, however I have noticed over time that upgrades to Photoshop seem to take more advantage of multiple cores as Adobe updates the code. For example, appling filters utilize all of the cores while the filters are computing changes (smart sharpen for example).  Try running CPU monitoring in Activity Monitor (double click the CPU graph to display all cores).
Lightroom utilizes all of the cores for Import, export and other activities that process multiple files.  Being more modern code, it beter utilizes muti cores.
Keep in mind that each core handles two code threads, therefore a four core system is capable of processing 8 "streams" of code, the 6 core can manage 12 threads, etc.
Here is a screen shot of Mac Book Pro running PS CC Smart Sharpen:
All the new Mac Pro run at 3.9Hz Turbo Boost - they are all the same in that respect.  This means that when the processers are not hot, at least one core will run at 3.9Hz - therefore on a relativly idle machine (just editing in PS for example) you would likley be running at 3.9Hz on all the Mac Pro 2013.
There are also the GPUs to consider.  Apple as usual has not made enough information available to easly determine the cost benefits of the more powerful GPUs and I don't know if PS would utiliize the AMD GPUs well now,  or perhaps better utilize them for the future.  Perhaps someone could comment on that.  Here is an interesting article: http://architosh.com/2013/10/the-mac-pro-so-whats-a-d300-d500-and-d700-anyway-we -have-answers/
Clearly the D500 that is standard with the 6 core seems a major bump over the 4 core D300 (therefore the costs of the 6 core reflect that).  I don't know how much the D700 would cost - it would be helpful if this were published so I could consider my order.
There are two GPU in the new Mac Pros - but the purpose of the second one is not toally clear (thanks again to Apples's communication).  It likley will be utilized for all sorts of things that don't really exist now and FCP X is scheduled for a new release better utilize the GPU for video (as nwaphoto mentioned video processing will be a major use of this equipment).
I was interested in your comment regarding 64 Meg ram.  Yes that would be a hudge boost to PS performance, but would it be better to purchase from Apple or wait for OWC who offer RAM at major discounts over Apple.  Once again, no info yet that I am aware of.
I believe the flash drive is upgradable but rumor has it that it uses a proprietary connecter. Makes me want to go with the largest size but once again OWC might be the way to go for an upgrade in a year or two.
In the past, the 6 core 2012 Mac Pro's were somewhat of a sweat spot in terms of horsepower vs cost.  I will be considering that in my decession to upgrade. So I am considering a 6 core,  will check out the Ram and Flash diIsk based on price - which is the infor I don't have.  If you have anything please post
    Thanks

  • Remove T-Zones on a 6230i

How do you get rid of T-Zones & the other t-mobile screens form a 6230i (using Virgin), can you reset it to factory settings to remove them or do they still stay there.
    6300

They can only be reset by reflashing the phone with phone software (firmware) without such operator customization.
Not a DIY (Do It Yourself) job without relatively expensive flashing equipment (with the price you could probably buy couple new, unbranded phones, instead) and illegally distributed firmware files (they're only legally delivered to authorized Nokia service/repair centers).

  • Do not buy the HP Spectre X360

The Spectre X360 was a laptop I wish I had not purchased. The most expensive buy I’ve made, and my first HP laptop, and it has been disastrous. It does not seem to be just me with these issues. The wifi and internet – the main reason I use the laptop – has been poor ever since I got it. It only connects if I'm next to my router, and if I leave the room it disconnects. This has not been a problem on my iPhone, my Sky+ box, other laptops. I’ve spent hundreds of pounds and hundreds of hours trying to change my network in my house to make the situation better. From wireless adapters to new routers to powerlink adapters. I’ve downloaded driver after driver from HP and Intel, tweaked the settings. Every update brings a glimmer of hope before having the same issues. Updating to Windows 10 is the final straw, having made it worse. I’m not alone. I search Twitter, the HP forums, Reddit, and everyone is saying the same. They’d wished they’d not made the purchase. HP’s advice was to get them to replace the card. But what’s the point? I lose the laptop I rely on for work for two weeks, when it is clear from the forums this action is of no use. The card simply doesn't work with the laptop. How can six months after release this still be an issue? Had I not spent £1000 this would have probably gone out of the window with the anger. To make matters worse four months later the keys have started to wear off and it no longer looks like the beautiful model I once bought. They are marked, and the paint has come off. How is that even possible so soon? It no longer looks or feels like a premium purchase. If I’d reacted sooner I would have got my money back and gone for an Apple Macbook or a Microsoft Surface. I fear this will fall on deaf ears as per the forum topics, tweets, and contact with support. I do not want a replacement card, it makes no difference. I would rather have a refund.

  • Macbook air usb key - where can I buy one ?

I love that MBA USB Key. It one of the coolest usb keys I've seen. I think apple should make them (empty of course) and sell them ! I'd be the first one to buy one.
Is there anything like that key anywhere ?
I currently have a usb key called 'super-talent' which is sort of similar but it's not the same.

There are literally thousands of options out there:

If you're looking for something similar in format (very thin)...

But there are so many... you can find one in just about any format that you wish.

  • Early 2013 15-inch vs Mid 2014 13-inch?

Hi everyone, please help me to found out which one of these models should I buy?
Early 2013 Macbook pro 15-inch 2.4 ghz (refurbished) - Ivy bridge
    or
Mid 2014 Macbook pro 13-inch (256 flash storage) - Haswell
    The price is the same!
    Thank you!

Yes, at least in my perspective it is worth buying the older one. I was in a similar position as you, but choosing from the MacBook Pro 13"s Retina vs Non-Retina, and mainly the graphics card. And when I got my intel hd 4000, I was more than satisfied with it. The Iris is better for sure, but the 4000 is amazing as well.
When you it comes down to what you are buying, the QUAD cores, and i7 WITH the Dedicated graphics card GT 650, thats most certainly better than the Iris pro, hands down no doubt.
Only things you will be sacrificing are: The retina, the slimness, the portability (because of the slimness+13 inch).
Things you gain: HDD + RAM upgradability(main reason why I bought the older 13" for myself), optical disk drive.
Now obviously i missed a few things that you'd gain and/or sacrifice but those are the ones that come to my mind right now.
Also, to add on the 2.4ghz vs the 2.6ghz, is not a big factor at all. Those extra 0.2ghz won't do you much good. But the i7, and the QUAD cores will most certainly show you some epic results!
    Enjoy!

  • Price per minute of Flash animation?

    Hi,
I need to create 2 minutes of animated info graphics in Flash. What is the general formula for price per minute of Flash animation? I know it varies, though this would be high-end animation requiring lots of things to be animated, such as bar graphs, etc.
    Thanks,
    Dan

You're right. It totally varies. Might be better to estimate how many hours you think it will take to complete and then decide on your price per hour.

  • Adding payPal shopping cart to a Flash website?

    Hi there,
I'm a newbie, creating my first flash website and my first shopping cart, so  be easy on me.
I've done  a lot of research, however was unable to find any tutorials on how to  set up a  Paypal shopping cart or any other secured shopping cart in a website  that was created in Flash professional CS5, actionscript 3.0. Paypal's  tutorial is  only for html (copy/paste the code in your html website and voila) but  how to integrate shopping cart in Flash website? Any help would be  appreciated.
This is my first time setting up a cart on a website. I  have a "shop"  button on my site (see picture below) that I would like linked to an  external  page preferably with my items that I would like to sale. Not  sure if paypal's shopping cart can do what I want it to do. Once the  user clicks on the "Shop" button, I'd like for my customer to be able to  see a picture of the items I have for sale, price for each item, a box  where the buyer can write quantity of item desired, add to cart button  and then check out button. With paypal shopping  cart, can I add  pictures beside each item I am selling when entering the  price on  paypal's website or I have to add the pictures of the items I  am  selling directly in my shop section of my website and add a buy now   button for each individual item and then copy/paste the email link  provided by  Paypal to each of my buy now buttons and add that code to  my "Actions" layer within Flash? How would the script look like? And  what if later on I want to add additional info to an item, change price  or delete it completely...would I have to make the changes everytime  within paypal only or I'd have to make the changes on both paypal and my  flash file and upload new copy to server? I'd like for my cart to  integrate with my site (keep the same look and feel, same  layout/background color) preferably but what ever way is the easiest.  Thanks for your help.

Any source that provides embed code to add to your webpage should work. So in other words if E-Junkie provides the HTML code that you simply embed in your own code it will work. If it requires a certain plugin be installed it may or may not.

  • VB6 - can't save a project with flash.ocx control - why won't Adobe fix?

After a full day of research, this seems to be an ongling problem for at least a year now.   VB6 developers who have gone in to do maintenance on their applications that call flash.ocx are finding that they can no longer save their projects because of some change that was introduced by Adobe in the release following flash10e.ocx.  In another post here http://forums.adobe.com/message/2931807#2931807 a work around is given of uninstalling flash and installing any version on or before 100452.  Because the applications still run fine until the developer tries to make a change and save the VB6 project, the scope of this problem has probably not been fully realized.  For this reason, this issue will likely only gain momentum in the future.
I spent the morning contacting several people at Adobe and I discovered the only way apparently to get support for this issue is to open a "web case".   From further research, what I understand a "web case" costs around $200 and with that price there is nothing telling me what comes with a "web case".  I mean, if I were to buy one, would the problem be fixed or would they research it and say "I am very sorry but we are not going to fix that".   If there is a guarantee that the problem will be fixed, then can Adobe establish a pool where the $200 cost can be shared by everyone who has the issue?   That couldn't be more than a buck or two each because if you google this problem "System Error &H80004005 using flash.ocx" you will find about 5 pages of people reporting the problem.
Microsoft reports that a System Error &H80004005 error can normally be fixed by chaning the OCX in this manner:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223152
Sounds like Adobe made a slight change to the flash.ocx in the release following 100452 that removed the couple of definitions descibed by Microsoft in the URL above.  All of Microsoft's suggestions for the developer using the bad OCX call fail (simply adding a line to the OCX:
    InitCommonControls(void)
, however, since the problem (and the answer) is locked deep inside the flash.ocx source code, only Adobe can resolve it.  Let's hope someone reads this and takes action.   In advance - please and thank you Adobe.

There's little chance anyone from Adobe will see your posting here, though they do on occasion find their way here for reasons unknown.  What you might try is to submit a bug report.  Going that route at least puts it into a system that requires it to be processed... whether or not the processing will lead to a solution that helps you is indeterminable from this end.
