Flash player extremely slow

I'm wondering whats up with Flash, I'm using the newest version and it's eating up nearly all of my cpu while playing back a standard youtube video. On a similar Windows XP setup it's only taking up around 10%? Is flash player on Mac OS X just a POS?

Thanks for that! The advantages of 64bit Safari are actually quite minimal compared to having reliable Flash playback. I despise Flash in every way, what a horrible slow method of displaying video on the web It is a shame it became so bloody popular.
They really need to get this fixed, whether it is a Safari or Adobe issue, I for one home it is a Safari issue myself, as it may actually get fixed at some point.

  • Flash CS4 extremly slow on Windows 7 64-bit | NOT a Kaspersky issue!

    Hello.
My problem is exactly the same, as the one solved in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2356898#2356898
Flash is just unusable, because of extremely slow performance. Selecting a tool or typing in actionscript takes forever. I've also noticed that sometimes (yes only sometimes), flash.exe takes alot of CPU usage, even when doing simple things like mentioned above.
At the same machine, 2 days ago, before upgrading from Vista Ultimate x64 to Windows 7 Ultimate x64, everything was working perfect.
Please help me as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.
    Grzelu.

I got the same problem on W7 (32-bit). I also notice that firefox really slows down on pages with lot of flash. I didn't had that problem when I was using XP.

  • Flash CS4 extremely slow!

It's extremely slow to render any flash motion in CS4. I import to the stage some material and when I try to change and create any motion the processor usage raise up to 50% and the program freezing. It will be completly useless... Is there any solution to this problem? thx a lot!

Thank you for your fast reply!
Yes it's possible with virtual machine it would be more faster than now. I use the sw under Windows 7 too but before this system I had Vista with the same problem. So I don't know. The newest patch did not help yet.
I work under an Asus F3Sv series notebook with Core Duo T7500 and with Geforce GS8600M GS (256Mb).
But It's very strange: under Vista I couldn't do anythin for an examle in the actionscript editor. After Windows 7 it has been working now. But the prevoius problem is still ongoing.

  • Flash player 9 slow & choppy - is it Firefox?

    Hello all,
Any sites with Flash Player 9 like ESPN play very choppily. This just started in the last couple of months. I have done these recent updates: Firefox 2.0.0.7, installed Cocktail (for maintenance and run it every week), and I did Aiport Software update 4.2. These are the only changes I have made to the computer. I will post in Adobe flash forum as soon as I figure out where that is. Checking there before; I didn't see a big thread on any problem like this.
    thanks,
    Al

Resetting my router resolved my issues but this isn't working for others...
I also re-installed Firefox and Flash Player but the router seemed to do it and I have no idea why.
Most flash videos for me like Comedy Central for ex. barely play ahead of the download so I have to pause the vid and let the download get ahead of it. Perhaps my computer is too slow.
Flash player forum has lots of help ideas to and there are techs trying to help.

  • Flash Player runs slow on my Mac

When I browse flash websites on my Mac the flash movies run really slowly. I have the latest versions of flash player installed and I as a web designer I run Flash 8 on my machine.
Is there a setting that needs to be adjusted or could have been changed to affect the flash player on my machine?

Do you have the lastest beta?
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/public_beta/
If not, then try it, it may bring the speed up to your liking. If you do have the beta, then it may be what is causing the slow-down.

  • Flash player runs slow, jerky, performance problems (Apple OS 10.4.7)

I'm working on a Macintosh 1.35GHz PowerPC G4 Mac OSX version
10.4.7. I have Flash Player 9 installed on my machine. When I run
games on the Neopets web site (yes, I am an adult and yes the games
are actually fun) many of them are so jerky and slow that they are
completely unplayable. I have the same problem on another machine
(Dual 2Ghz processor, Mac OS 10.4.7). What's weird is that the
games used to run faster. I believe the slowdown occured in one of
my recent OS updates. I've tried this with both Safari and Firefox
and have the same problem with both.
In particular: Moon Rock Rampage (try picking up a piece or
killing a creature - both will grind to a halt), which can be seen
    here:
    http://www.neopets.com/games/moonrockrampage.phtml

Hi, LOL at my screen moniker. That's interesting that the FF beta has an Option for that. The only problem, is that I have heard that each browser must UNcheck the H.A. I'm sure you'll find out.
Hope that works at least for FF. Let me know if you have time.
I've been checking out Apple TV and Google TV. Just saved the links and some info, haven't had time to go further. I'd prefer Apple TV over Google tho.
I have a 55" HD Sony/Blu-ray Surround Sound Speakers, etc. I hooked up the VGA cable for Internet, and WOW on the Screen/Monitor!! Now I'm thinking about the iPhone 4 with VZ too, on their pre-order list for 2/3/11!
Hard to keep up with the Technology, moving faster today for some reason.
We are under the Snow & Ice warning, getting it now. Hope I don't lose power! If so, I'll be offline for sure.
If I find anything on that H.A. for IE, I'll let you know.
    Thanks,

  • Flash Player still slow on Linux

I've tried, with my hi-configuration pc, last beta flash
player amd64 version, on last Jaunty Ubuntu 9.04 with last nVidia
    driver 180.37 and with
Direct rendering enabled... but still very slow (with HD
videos, worse with fullscreen mode) VS Windows Vista platform on
the same machine. I tried to uncheck and recheck "hardware
acceleration" on Flash Player 10 settings box without see any
difference (if don't work, why is present a box?).
With some player (mplayer/smplayer for example) I can see
without performance problems Full-HD videos... but with Flash
Player, HDReady videos is "slow and choopy"...
Can I hope better performance on Linux for the future?
Thank you much and sorry for my english!
    Intel Q6600 2.4GHz, Asus P5Q Deluxe, 4Gb DDR2, nVidia 8800 GT
    AMP!,

I am using a very fast computer: Phenom quad-core 2.6GHz with an NVidia GeForce 8800GT. I notice a number of issues with flash 10 performance on this platform. For one, it's barely fast enough to play the Youtube HD video windows and not fast enough to play anything but traditional low def youtube FullScreen. The player doesn't thread at all so it relies soley on the clock speed of the machine. And as another poster said, the hardware acceleration box doesn't really seem to do anything.
To some degree HD video is going to be a CPU hog...but this performance is far worse than what flash gets on the same machine on windows. That is the first issue. The second issue is that the player really needs to be threaded. Sure, some systems have the power to decode high res x264 with a single core. But there is no point...it's like lifting heavy things with one finger just to show how strong you are. Linux supports threads and the vast majority of machines have multiple cores, so use them! To release a player with such an obvious deficiency is simply lazy programming and design.

  • Flash Player v10 slow and crashy in Debian/Linux

    Hello!
Is it me or is the latest Flash Player v10 plugin slow in
    IceWeasel/SeaMonkey in 32-bit Debian/Linux? I could CPU usages were
high for Flash too. I have an Athlon 64 X2 dual core CPU with 3 GB
of RAM, EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (512 MB; NVIDIA drivers), etc.
I had WIndows XP Pro. SP2 and SeaMonkey, and no speed problems with
    Flash v10.
I also noticed having Flash running and looking at settings,
my SeaMonkey Web browser crashes. :(
    Thank you in advance. :)

I've discovered that with lastest alpha x64 native version I've more performance problem vs the wrapper/x86 version (on 64 bit system).
I've removed the native version (installed manually from me) and installed from synaptic the "flashplugin-nonfree" package (x86 version + wrapper), and created mms.cfg on /etc/adobe/mms.cfg with this line:
    OverrideGPUValidation=true
This line can make system unstable (not my system).
If this happen, you can try to add on your firefox link this line before "LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libGL.so.1" without quotes.
    The result is:
    LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libGL.so.1 firefox
I hope this info can help Flash Linux community.

  • Flash Player verrrry slow.

This problem has been going on for at least a month now, and I've asked numerous different places without fixing the problem so far.
Firefox asked me to update to the newest release before the 4.0 beta (I apologize, I can't remember the version). I went to Farmville after updating and noticed that it was very laggy and taking a long time for my mouse to respond to my clicks. After this, I have been having all sorts of problems with anything that uses Flash. In Tinychat, sometimes I'll be typing and the words will take a long time to appear after I've finished typing, they appear one letter at a time, slowly.
I also apologize because I can't remember everything I've done in the past month to fix this problem, because I've tried a lot of different things. The ones I've tried the most are:
    Uninstalling Flash, restarting, reinstalling Flash.
    Updating my drivers
    Turning off hardware acceleration
Using a different browser (Safari, tried Internet Explorer but a lot of ActiveX stuff, I just didn't really bother. Problem persisted in Safari.)
And a bunch of combinations of the above. Needless to say, NOTHING has worked and the problem persists. I will add that yesterday I was at a friends house, and for whatever reason, without trying any of these methods, Farmville was back to normal again. I asked if it was the internet speed, but my friend said likely not. I just thought I'd add that in case it means anything.
Operating System: Windows 7 64 bit
    Web Browser: Firefox 4.0beta 1 and 2(it says Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; Windows NT 6.0; WOW64; rv:2.0b2) Gecko/20100720 Firefox/4.0b2 but I'm not sure if its 32 or 64 bit.) , Safari 5.0.1 (7533.17.8)
Flash Player Version: WIN 10,1,82,76 (Also says "Debug Player: No")
I hope that's enough info, but I'll be happy to supply more if asked.

Hi, Your thread doesn't close. On your drivers, you can contact Microsoft and the Manufacturer of your computer. They can help you with those. All of your drivers must be the correct ones and compatible with Microsoft. If your computer was made by Dell, then you go to the Dell site, etc.
I don't understand how you can think that Flash Player is the cause of your problems, because it is Installed correctly?
If your Flash Player was not Installed correctly, then I may agree with you, but I cannot agree that Flash Player is your problem. It doesn't even make sense.
Malware, viruses, too many add ons on a computer can cause slowness. There are other reasons but those are some.
Facebook, Farmville and their many games are known for problems.
If you do some searching on the Microsoft sites and forums about the slowness, you'll find more topics than you would have time to read:-) There are forums for every Windows edition, and every Internet Explorer version and anything made by Microsoft. There are many reasons that a computer can be slow, but I can't get into all of that. The Flash Forum is for Flash issues and problems that are related to that.
Perhaps another user will have some suggestions and will post to your thread.
    Thanks,

  • Can I run 32 bit firefox on my Windows 7, 64 bit and how ? Flash player loads slow.

Can I run 32 bit Firefox on my Windows 7, 64 bit and how do I do that? Flash player loads videos slowly. You tube videos are mostly loading slowly or hanging up. It seems to have happened after the last Firefox update.

    Dibbens wrote:
According to website I have Flash Player installed but I cannot run a program (BBC iPlayer DeskTop) that requires 64 Bit Flash player Any ideas?
Does that program require the Flash Player ActiveX Control, or the plugin?  If you only have the ActiveX Control (for Internet Explorer) installed, then you may also need the plugin (for other browsers).  Get it from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/

  • Flash Player performance slowness and mouse lag

I've been having this problem for a while.  I already did the usual google searching and didn't find anything useful.  Specifically its games I play on kongregate and other sites.  When they are using flash player I tend to get poor performance.  If it uses a mouse cursor the mouse lags/skips across the flash player window, when it leaves the flash player area the lag doesn't occur. I dont have problems when I'm in games or general responsiveness of the system, I've plenty of space, low processor utilization, low memory utilization, etc etc.
I have windows 8.1, IE11, the latest flash player, video and system drivers are all the latest and greatest.  I've found articles suggesting to turn on/off hardware/software gpu acceleration in IE, it also occurs in Firefox.
    ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try this. Which browser (and version) are you using? My question was as much about the performance of Flash player in a 64 bit environment as it was about the video playback hardware performance. I'm sceptical of the shared video memory and throughput performance of the Intel-based 4500HD graphics package in my laptop. I'm worried that it might not be sufficient for full-screen flash video playback, or for large external displays, so I'm trying to explain the poor platback performance that I'm seeing, and hopefully show that it's not the fault of the video HW.
Which video HW do you have in your dell?
    Thanks

  • Flash player 9 slow & choppy - is it Firefox? or QT?

    Hello all,
Any sites with Flash Player 9 like ESPN play very choppily. This just started in the last couple of weeks. I have done these recent updates: Firefox 2.0.0.7, installed Cocktail (for maintenance and run it every week), and I did Aiport Software update 4.2.
Wondering if this is related to QT ?
Adobe has offered no help and says since it is free that's that. There are a bunch of people with same problem who have posted in Adobe Flash forum.
    I'm at wits end.
I have: repaired permissions, uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Player and reinstalled Firefox. The player installs fine but continually rebuffers every few seconds.
    thanks,
    Al
Same on either computer. Using 10.3.9 on ibook and 10.2.8 on imAc

"but I have repaired permissions a lot"
But did you do so directly from your System Install CD/DVD? Also, when using 3rd party utilities to fix directory damage it is best to use the CD rather than install the utility to avoid system interference & false readings.
You must use the versions that are compatible w/your OS system & keep the utilities updated to avoid damaging/harming/trashing your system.
The following are 3 of the Discussions favorites:
    DiskWarrior
Highly recommended for *directory damage* repairs.
    TechTool Pro
    Multi-functional utility.
    Drive Genius Multi-functional utility.
You will need to make your own decision on which to purchase. Read up on them on their websites because each does something a little different.
"I'm confused. Isn't "the newly installed Adobe software work its magic," = installing Adobe flash player? "
QT does not play flash files. It needs help (plug-ins) to play those type of files.
"How do you view say the ESPN vids with other players - I don't see how to do this?"
The players that I listed in my previous post in this thread play flash files in conjunction w/QT.

  • Why is Flash Player so slow?

I can't play HD videos from Youtube or Vimeo smoothly with Flash Player. (Flash 10.0.45.2, Windows XP SP3, latest ATI drivers)
The framerate is low and sometimes the sound and the video hangs. The problem is the same on Firefox 3.6 and Internet Explorer 8.
When I download the videos (with DownloadHelper) and open them with Media Player Classic and the FFDshow codec, it works perfectly. Unfortunately  FFDshow can't be used for streaming, I always have to download the video first.
It seems that FFDshow is much faster than Flash Player.
Here's a vido who hangs on Flash Player but not with FFDshow : http://vimeo.com/8614771

Speed problems with Flash usually have nothing to do with the computer, but rather with Flash itself.  Unfortunately, Flash has become ubiquitous on the internet, especially when it comes to video.  Flash certainly has its uses, but video is not one of them.  I can normally run 3 HD videos on my computer simultaneously with no problems.  Play even one video (not even HD) on my computer with Flash, and it uses 100% of my CPU and is still very choppy.
