Flash Player refuses to be Downloaded.

First off, I'm running on windows XP and Internet explorer 8. I've tried multiple times to download the latest flash player. However, each attempt had ended in failure. I've done everything suggested on the help page; I have downloaded the uninstaller, closed my running applications, run the unistaller, and rebooted. No change. So, I tried downloading the EXE version of the downloader. Again, I got a "failed to download" errors message. I tried messing around with the Internet security controls, as well as my personal firewalls and scanners. Again, nothing. Each time the download proceeds to about 1/3 of the way complete, and gets to a Registry stage of some sort (the exact point is at C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash10c.ocx) and gives a window that says "Failed to install." then refers me to the troubleshooting site. Can anyone verify and correct this error?

Just recently, I downloaded the ProcessMonitor program. Through it I found out a few extra tidbits.
#1 There are a handful of areas that denied access to the attempted downloads.
#2 ALL of them start with the names HKCR\
#3 from what I could see, a couple of them were HKCR\.sol HKCR\.sor and HKCR\.mfp
However, I have no idea what to do in order to access or alter these files in order to allow access.

Windows 8.1 64-bit laptop.  Multiple Flash Player issues.  (1) Sites say I do not have Flash Player installed but Adobe download page says I do.  (2)  Right clicking the test video, or any other video, give access to "settings" but there is no display tab.  (3)  Some video sites suggest watching in HTML5, which does work, but most simply present the green screen.  I have spent the better part of three days reading every forum I can find, and they all point to disabling hardware acceleration, but I cannot access it.  None of the recommended fixes work.

i am new to the MacBook Air.  I downloaded a game from the apps store.  Whenever I try to play, it keeps telling me to download the Adobe Flash Player and its already downloaded and is up to date.

No game from the App Store could be prompting you install Flash. Only a web page could do that. Does the game open a web page?

If you are talking about Safari on the iPad, there is no version of Adobe Flash for iOS and there never has been. Clear Safari, close the app and reset the iPad.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If you are talking about Safari on your Mac, you are in the wrong forum. But I would still clear the cache, quit Safari and restart the Mac.

  • When trying to use flash player it says to download the player. i have the latest player

when trying to use flash player it says to download the player. i have the latest player

I can assume that you're using IE11, and probably with Windows 8.1.
This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

This is the full procedure for installing Adobe Flash for Firefox.
1.Download the Flash setup file from here: <br />
    [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. <br />
Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). <br />
    See this: <br />

  • Mac OS 10.8.3, Flash Player 11: Abort after download

    Dear Adobe Support Team,
unfortunately we (several people running MacBookPros w/Mac OS X 10.8.3) are unable to install Flashplayer 11. On a reference machine I deinstalled FlashPlayer 10 and tried to follow the troubleshooting steps - unfortunately I am unable to find the file "Adobe Flash Player.pkg" as said on http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-mac.html .
    So, obvious questions:
    1. Where does the Adobe Flash Player Installer place download files ?
    2. Where is log information stored so I can check for errors (no entries found in system log !) ?
    3. What am I missing ?
    Thanks for your help!
    Kind regards

  • Adobe Flash Player not installing after downloading

    Windows Vista
    Firefox 25.0.1
    Flash Player 11.3
My Firefox browser has a red symbol that says "Outdated Adobe Plug-in" Block or continue allowing? Or another time it says to update.
It takes me to the download centre, I download the flash, install it as advised and nothing happens. I don't get any status update to say the installation has been completed. So I download/install again and it says only one instance of it can run but again, no confirmation it has been installed successfully.
I've only now tried to have updates set up automatically for Flash but whether that works I don't know as it's affecting me when I use websites or go on forums, making it jittery.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thank you.

Download the Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers), Flash Player Uninstaller, Shockwave Player Uninstaller, and Shockwave FULL Installer by right clicking and selecting "Save Link as".
    Save them. DON'T run them.
    Reboot.
Use thehttp://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe uninstallers to remove the old plugin and Shockwave player completely.
Just to be sure, go to: C/Windows/System32/Macromed and delete the Flash folder if it still exists.
The go to: C/Windows SysWOW64/Macromed (if there is one) and delete the Flash Folder.
Open your Registry Editor (Start>Run, or press the Windows key+R - and type "regedit" then click OK)
In the Registry Editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE and delete the Macromedia folder.
Go to HKEY_CURRENT USER/Software and delete the Macromedia folder there as well.
THEN run the Shockwave installer, and after that, the Flash Player installer.
You should be up to date.

  • Flash Player refuses to run, if outdated.  Can I change this setting?

I work in a video production environment -- tonight we ran into a problem where a couple of live monitoring systems were not working because Flash refused to run; presumably, because it's out of date.   In this case, the systems are "Deep Frozen" (locked down, essentially).
While I think I understand the underlying reasoning for this, it's highly disruptive.    Is there a way we can change Flash Player so it doesn't refuse to run if it's outdated?
These systems are on OSX Yosemite.  It's possible it's not just a Flash Player setting, but a browser setting -- still trying to track this down.
    Tips, pointers would be appreciated!
    Thank you.

Yeah, that makes sense.  Faronics is really into buzzwords.  It was hard to cut through the marketing-speak to figure out what they were actually doing.
The plug-in blocking technology on Mac is called xprotect.  You can disable it, which might make sense in your use-case, but it's typically a really bad idea for the average end-user.
    sudo mkdir /System/Library/Launchdaemons/Disabled
    sudo mv /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.xprotectupdater.plist /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/Disabled/com.apple.xprotectupdater.plist
    sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Delete:JavaWebComponentVersionMinimum" /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/XProtect.meta.plist
I'm guessing that these files are mutable on the system and not part of the persistent snapshot, or I imagine that the blocking would have went away after a reboot.  I'm thinking that you can probably disable these and update the relevant snapshots to ensure that you're not picking up new xprotect blacklists in the field.
If you're just hitting the same set of consistent local IPs for your monitoring backend, it might make more sense to preconfigure them in Safari as always allowed vs. wholesale disabling xprotect.
    Hopefully that's helpful.
