Flash reading binary from a database

i'm storing videos and images inside a blob in mysql and i
need to have flash 8 read the files. right now i'm querying the
database using php and then converting the php page to xml and then
flash is parsing the xml. i need any feedback i can get. thanks in
advance.

Sounds feasible if DB is on the same server as your web server. You'll need the MySQL JDBC drivers which you can get from the MySQL site.
Note however that a more common way of doing this is to have you Applet send the parameters for the query to a servlet, have the servlet query the database and return the results to the Applet for display.

    Hi Andreas,
    I've changed the permissions to 775 and changed the ownership of /sapcd (volume name) to orasid:dba (including all files within the staging area /sapcd/ora-patch).
    So the permissions and ownership seems to be fine.
    I've also ran your suggested commands but the issue still exists.
    I'm now liasing with our UNIX guy to check if there is any underlying permission issues on the volume (sapcd) that may be causing this problem.
    In the mean time, let me know if you have any further thoughts.
    Thanks,

  • Can you suggest a best way to store and read arabic from oracle database?

    Hi ,
    can you suggest a best way to store and read arabic from oracle database?
    My oracle database is Oracle Database 10g Release 10.1.0.5.0 - 64bit Production on unix HP-UX ia64.
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16
    NLS_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
    NLS_TERRITORY AMERICA
    NLS_CHARACTERSET WE8ISO8859P1
    I have presently stored the data in nvarchar2 field. But i am not able to display it correctly.

    Using the national characterset should work but there are other factors that you have to consider when working with NCHAR/NVARCHAR2/NCLOB.
    If possible, changing the characterset is usually the best solution if it's a possiblity for you.
    For more info:

  • Problem reading data from oracle database 11g using OleDbDataReader

    Hi everyone I work with Visual Studio 2010 and C# programming language. I have a problem reading data from the oracle database. I created a WPF application with my main Window Xaml and class files and 1 more class called DataFiles. The thing I want is to read some data from the database on my grid in my WPF window. Problem is even though it connects to the database the grid is always empty. It isn't the connection string as I tested it and it connects to the database the problem seems to be in showing the LASTNAME (PREZIME in my native tongue) on the grid which is what it's supposed to do.
    Here is the code:
    Data Files Code
    using System;
    using System.Collections.ObjectModel;
    using System.Data.SqlClient;
    using System.Data.OleDb;
    namespace SQLKonekcija

                oleCon.Open();
                OleDbDataReader Reader = oleComd.ExecuteReader();

  • Reading data from another database

    Hi Folks!
    I need to read some data from another non-sap system database to validate something in R/3. Does this is possible. If it is possible how could this be achieved?
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Gilberto Li

    There are a couple of ways to do this. One, you can create an executable on the other non-sap system that you can call from SAP as a system command. So let us say you write a unix script that takes a value as input and returns a flag as output. Within the script you will check that value against this non-sap database. In SAP, you will create a system command in SM69 and then execute it in your program via function module SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE.
    Alternatively, you can use the RFC route but you need to setup RFC connection between the two systems.
    You can also bring this validation table into SAP as a one time or periodically updated table and then do the validations within SAP.

  • How to read/write from Access database

    Hi everybody
    I need a little help for doing what I wrote in the topic!
    I use LabVIEW 6i student edition, do Ireally need to install the Database
    connectivity toolkit?

    Hi Vicio,
    There are a couple of different methods to communicate with Access in LabVIEW, and some are more difficult than others. You can use ActiveX Automation to open Microsoft Access and control many aspects of the Access Application. For actual database manipulation however, the Access automation classes rely upon the Microsoft DAO (Data Access Object) and/or ADO (ActiveX Data Object) classes. These classes can be used independently or through the Access automation classes to read and write data into an Access database. These classes can be difficult to use and may require a fair amount of SQL knowledge to accomplish a complicated task. Attached is a very simple example of how you can use DAO from the Access automation classes to read an Access table.
    For more information about the Microsoft Access automation classes, DAO or ADO classes refer to the Microsoft website and Developer Network:
    MSDN
    It is also possible to use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) communication between LabVIEW and Access. DDE is a Microsoft technology that preceded COM and ActiveX. DDE is NOT recommended as it is considered by most to be obsolete. However, examples still ship with LabVIEW that demonstrate how to communicate with MS Access using DDE. The examples are located in ..\LabVIEW\examples\comm\access.llb
    Note: The LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolset is the preferred method of database communication with LabVIEW. The LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolset offers many powerful tools and extended capabilites for quickly accessing databases. The LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolset offers connectivity to most popular databases through Microsoft ADO technology, complete SQL Functionality, and the ability to save records in XML format. It provides both easy-to-use and advanced functions to allow common database operations as well as detailed database accessibility. The LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolset is sold separately or in the LabVIEW Enterprise Connectivity Toolset along with the LabVIEW Statistical Process Toolkit and the LabVIEW Internet Developers Toolkit.

  • Database Toolkit: Reading data from SQL database

    Hello,
    I have been working on a automated test system storing data into a SQL server database.  Once you get your head wrapped around the toolkit and walk through some of the examples it is not too bad.  Writing to the database was very straight forward.  I simply put all of my data including the primary keys into a cluster and inserted the cluster into the specified table.  As I learned the hard way,  it is very important for all of your types to match up.  I saved double type from labview as decimal type in the SQL database, and long integer in labview as integer in the SQL database.
    For the the read VI, this is where my questions lie. After establishing a connection reference I used the "DB Tools Create Parameterized Query" VI combined with a SQL statement to find the recordset that I was looking for.  I used a standard SQL statement using the primary keys such as, "Select * From TableName Where Measurements = "%Measurements%" ".  This VI creates a command reference which I then passed to multiple "DB Tools Get Parameter Value" VIs.  I could not get this to work with the command reference.
    I then switched over to the "DB Tools Execute Query" inputting the same SQL statement I had used before.  THis VI passed a recordset reference, which I then passed to a "DB Tools Get Properties" VI to check if the database was empty or not.  I then passed the recordset reference to multiple "DB Tools Fetch Element Data"  VI's to read the data from the SQL database.  THis worked very well.
    therefore I am wondering:
    What is the difference between a command reference and a recordset reference in the Database connectivity toolkit?
    Why would one work and not the other?
    Is there ever a case when you would want to use one method over the other?
    I have asked my app guys and Labview training instructor different database type questions, and I not received a decent answer to date.
    Thanks,
    Jackson

    Hello,
    Can you pass the command reference to a single "DB Tools Get Parameter Value" VI?  What exactly do you mean when you say you couldn't get this to work with command references... can you post an error message or the results?  The documented difference is that they are different flavors of ADOs (activeX data objects), one is a command and the other is a recordset reference.  I know this does not draw a precise distinction, but I'd like to understand this problem fully so we can find one!
    Please repost with anything more you can give!

  • Reading Binary from Console

    Hi all:
    I want to read the binary string from the console and do some manipulation with it. Can anyone please help?
    e.x Suppose i enter 0010 on my console and now i want read this as binary value
    and do some other manipulation with it. But i really don't know how i can read it?
    I am getting decimal value if i read it
    e.x suppose i entered 0010
    i will get 10 as value because i am reading it as integer not as binary. So iwant it as 0010 only.
    Thanks,
    Girish

    checking the range of this binary value (Range is 000000 -111111 ) read as suggested by suppechasper and check whether read value is between 0 and 64. if u read into say int x then
    if( x>0 && x <64 ){
                System.out.println("In the range");;
            }else{
                System.out.println("Out of the range");;
            }

  • Can PL/SQL read/write from a database server to another server?

    hi,
    please advise.
    thanks

    what i mean is output text file to other servers using pl/sql through utl_file package.No. utl_file reads/writes only on the server where your pl/sql code is running.
    But maybe you could map a network drive. Haven't tried that.

    It doesn't make sense to read a database directly from an applet. If an applet needs data from a database is should request if from the server which the applet is located on and the server should do the actual database actions.
    The whole point of applets is that they require no installation on the client machine. If you have to change policy files or the like, you might as well install a Swing application. Furthermore accessing a database tends to depend on how the client is set up on the network. Any sensible network has firewall settings that block access to the database ports to any external access (and, again, if you are limiting the facility to a few internal machines then why not just install a program on them).

  • Read binary file information from servlet - from database accessor method

    Okay, I have been working on this for awhile now and I just plain dont know what I am doing. Could someone please help me? I cannot find any examples through google or the forums for this specific type of situation( as in a servlet calls a method which gets binary file from a database).
    - How do I get the inputStream into the servlet so that I can read it?
    - Why am I getting the error message that OutputStream has already been called?
    If someone could give me direction or simply tell me what I should look up - I would really really appreciate it.

  • I am facing a Problem with reading images from database

    Hi everybody..
    any help will be most appreciated, I am facing problem with reading images from database. I am pasting my code...
                    string connect = "datasource = localhost; port = 3306; username = root; password = ;";
                    MySqlConnection conn = new MySqlConnection(connect); // creating connecting string
                    MySqlCommand sda = new MySqlCommand(@"select * from management.add_products ", conn); //creating query
                    MySqlDataReader reader;
                    try
                        conn.Open(); // Opening Connection
                        reader = sda.ExecuteReader(); // Executing my Query..
                        while (reader.Read())
                            byte[] imgg = (byte[])(reader["Picture"]);
                            if (imgg == null)
                                pc1.Image = null;
                            else
                                MemoryStream mstream = new MemoryStream(imgg);
                                pc1.Image = System.Drawing.Image.FromStream(mstream);
    It says Parameter not Valid... i am reading all the images from database

    I agree with Viorel. You are getting the error because the format of the data is incorrect probably because the data was modify. It may not be the reading of the database the is incorrect, but the application that wrote the data into the database. You need
    to compare the imgg array data with the data before it was written to the database to see if the data matches.  I usually start by comparing the number of bytes which is easier to check then compare the actual to isolate which function is changing the
    byte count.
    An image is binary data.  The standard VS methods for reading and writing data (usually stream classes) default to ASCII encoding which will corrupt binary data.  The solution usually is to use UTF8 encoding instead of the default ascii encoding.
    Ascii encoding with stream often aligns the data and adds extra null bytes to the end of the data which can produce these type errors.
