Flash Scripting

Hi all,
Can anyone give me the action script to load wmv movie in
flash window.
Saxena

I'm having the same problem but adding this._lockroot = true isn't working.
I'm adding an old sfw (flash player 6, AS1) to captivate 4. This flash file has a drag and drop activity and has this clip even on the root level.
onClipEvent (enterFrame)
    if (_root.currAns == 6)
        allDone = 1;
        _root.currAns = _root.currAns + 1;
    } // end if
    if (allDone == 1)
        if (_root.correct._currentframe == 1)
            _root.congrats.gotoAndPlay(2);
            allDone = 0;
        } // end if
    } // end if
I tried changing the _root to this. but that didn't work either.
This is driving me crazy so if anybody knows a quick fix i would love to hear from you.
thanks

  • DreamWeaver Flash Scripting Mystery

    DW 6 cannot view photo galleries created with Lightroom if they have Flash content.  When a file with flash content (e.g. index.html0 is opened, the design view in DW says, "Sorry, this photo gallery requires that scripting be enabled on your web browser and that the Adobe Flash Player be installed.  Download the Adobe Flash Player".  I have enabled Java scriping in both Firefox and IE and both browsers recognize the presence of Flash. This problem does not occur when the index.html file has no Flash content.  However,  html files with Flash content can be previewed in Firefox but not in IE, where the same error message occurs.  All this is in a new Win 8 PC.  Any suggestions on solving this mystery will be much appreciated.

    Thanks for your input Sudarshan.  The script and noscript tags are present (Although I do not know how these lines got into my code.) Removing them eliminates the error message but the design view pane is still blank.  Firefox option is set to enable Java Script.  The html can be successfully previewed.  Doesn't this confirm presence of Java Script?  Here is a snippet of the code:

  • Flash Scripting not being recognised in Captivate

    Dear all, I hope someone can help.
    I am placing Flash created sections into a Captivate e-learning module and although my Flash (MX) file works perfectly in Flash (SWF), parts of it stop working when placed within Captivate (CP4)
    Quick description. The Flash file is an interactive menu, and I wanted a way of telling the user that they had already visited a section, so I created a "tick" that appeares when the user clicks on the button. I simply set the visibility to "True". on the button action.
    The issue is that I have a bit of scripting on the first frame to set the visibility to "False" to turn off all the ticks. This works great as a standalone SWF, but as soon as it goes into Captivate it no longer works.
    Here is the script to turn off the ticks...located on the first frame of the movie
    this.onEnterFrame = function () {
    _root.tick1._visible=false;
    _root.tick2._visible=false;
    _root.tick3._visible=false;
    _root.tick4._visible=false;
    _root.tick5._visible=false;
    _root.tick6._visible=false;
    _root.tick7._visible=false;
    _root.tick8._visible=false;
    _root.tick9._visible=false;
    _root.tick10._visible=false;
    Here is the script to turn on a tick from a button press. Pressing the button takes the user to a new section, and on entering the section, the tick appears...The script is atached to a frame at the start of a new section....
    stop();
    this.onEnterFrame = function () {
    _root.tick1._visible=true;
    Any help would be greatly appreciated...

  • Adobe flash script error

    Post Author: JSA
    CA Forum: Xcelsius and Live Office
    In trying to update a model I have updated many times before, I am running into an error message alerting me to a slow Adobe script and prompting me to abort the script, or ignore and continue.  The User Manual suggests that larger models may need additional processing time and to ignore the script and the model will eventually update. For me, when I ignore the script (having to close the error message as many as three times over a two minute period) Xcelsius crashes.
    I have not gotten this error ever in the past, and now am geting it every time I update this model.  It has shut me down effectively. I even removed all data references and began rebuilding when I got the error again, even though I was not even trying to refresh the data source!  After the crash, I also get a "the referenced memory at XXXXX could not be read at 0x00000004" type of error. Also new error, and only shows up once Xcelsius crashes.
    Has anyone else experienced this issue?  I would appreciate any help.  Perhaps this is an Adobe Flash compatibility issue?
    JSA

    I also get the same error. It only pops up at s=certain times. I have on SWF in another that I call (from a HTML) when I get the error. However when I call the SWF from its own HTML i do nit get it at all. Another problem is that I sometimes get udefined lines and rows in my line charts.

  • Adobe Flash Script Error in Safari

    I recently installed (like an idiot) a Font program used to load some fonts in Adobe Photoshop.  Not only did it not work at all, my computer has been going bonkers when streaming video now.
    I'm no computer wiz, but I'm smart enough to know that whatever application I downloaded had also snuck in some annoying additional things.
    First off, I keep getting these "Save Keep" ad's that pop up over videos that counts down from 10 before I can watch a video.
    Furthermore, an error message pops up every minute or two saying "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script? Yes/No"
    I deleted the application, reinstalled silverlight, and the problem still persists.
    Before I go messing with uninstalling and reinstalling adobe flash player, I thought I might consult some experts.
    I feel like my computer is loaded with vestigial junk at this point, and I'd like for it to go back to the way it was.  Thank you.

    Klaus1:
    You also asked if I had installed the latest update to iPlayer. I assume that you mean the Desktop iPlayer, but this is a whole different issue! When I first tried to download the movie using Desktop iPlayer I was presented with a button to install it. This surprised me as it was already installed, but maybe it was really just offering an update. As it wasn't optional, I clicked the button. It then tried to install AdobeAIR (which was already installed) and failed as it couldn't get permission to write to the disk.
    I thought I'd make things simple and uninstalled AdobeAIR and Desktop iPlayer. I then tried to reinstall. Again it tried to install AdobeAIR and failed. So I tried downloading and installing AdobeAIR direct from Adobe. The installer loads into the dock but that's it. I've spent many hours trying to resolve this without success.
    Hence I'm just trying to use the browser version of iPlayer.
    I thought I'd get the Flash Player thing resolved first and then start another thread about AdobeAIR! I thought Adobe products were solid but I'm now seeing lot's of differing opinions on that.

  • Urgent! Flash Script problem

    Dear all,
    The program can add marks but can't jump to the frame I
    expected.
    Answer of the "game": green rectangle -> 3rd tank, red
    circle circle -> 2nd tank
    http://www.mcdhmc.edu.hk/tanks.fla
    Thanks!!!!!

    Yes. Flash can jump to play a particular frame, whether you
    put the symbols in the correct places or not. (Flash doesn't know
    if they are correct or not, computers do what we tell them, not
    what we want.)
    The code is
    this.gotoAndStop(10);
    Which sends the timeline the code is on (this) to its frame
    10 where it stops.
    myClip.gotoAndPlay(23);
    Sends the movieclip called myClip which is on the current
    timeline to its frame 23 from where it will continue to
    play.

  • How do I fix the "shockwave flash" error, causing firefox to lock up, slow, or crash?

    continous errors about "shockwave flash", "script has stopped working" etc, causing numerous slowdowns, lock-ups, and crashes. have tried several fixes, but none have worked.....please advise

    Is it a permissions problem? Here's another way.
    (1) In a My Computer or Windows Explorer window, open this folder:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
    If that folder does not exist, then you are using 32-bit Windows, and you can open the following folder instead:
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
    ''(Note: This folder exists on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, but on 64-bit Windows Firefox uses the Flash player in the SysWOW64 folder instead.)''
    (2) Check for a file named mms.cfg:
    (A) ''If mms.cfg exists,'' drag it to your '''Documents folder''' where you can edit it without being bothered about administrator privileges
    (B) ''If mms.cfg does not exist,'' open your '''Documents folder''', right-click > New > Text File and name the new file mms.cfg
    (3) Open mms.cfg from Documents into a text editor such as Notepad. Add this on its own line (I put it last):
    ProtectedMode=0
    Save the file and close Notepad.
    (4) Hold down the Ctrl key and drag the mms.cfg file back to the Flash folder to make a copy there, keeping the original in Documents
    This change should take effect the next time you restart Firefox.
    Hopefully that works around the permission issue.

  • Problems with Safari, Firefox and Flash player

    Ever since I got my new iMac that has Snow Leopard I've had problems with Safari and Firefox freezing or crashing. It appears that part of the problem is the Flash plugin because sometimes a screen pops up and says something like: the flash script is having problems. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling Flash, Safari and Firefox but the problem is still there. My browser seems to hang up or freeze a lot no matter if I use Safari or Firefox.
    Any ideas?
    I just discovered the Chrome browser from Google this morning and so far its working very well. No freezes and it appears to handle Flash video without any problems.
    How can that be?
    Thanks

    Ah! The proverbial missing information. Why the regrets? Most people are having no issues migrating from previous computers; it's the preferred method. See Best Practices and Setup new Mac. You're a long way from starting over.

  • Adobe Flash player keeps crashing, but it's up to date on my computer. So is Firefox. Help?

    For some reason, starting today, every page I visit on Firefox (no matter what) comes up with a notification that the Adobe Flash Player plugin has crashed. It started when I was trying to attach a word document to an email to one of my professors on my Google-supported school email account. Every time I tried to attach the document, Flash Player crashed and it wouldn't upload. I finally had to send it using my Live email, which worked, but now Flash Player crashes on every webpage I visit in about 2 seconds. My Flash Player is up to date, as is my version of Firefox. What's going on here? (Note: None of the information of the "Adobe Flash Player has crashed" page was helpful at all.)

    Yes, this has been a problem for a lot of people. ADOBE just released Flash Player 11.0.1.152, and that seems to have fixed the problem. It still am finding it a bit laggy to load Flash scripts, but it no longer displays the crashed window.
    You can download the file from the official Flash website here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

  • Basic Action Script 3 question

    I've been watching a tutorial on making a thumbnail photo gallery with Flash. Unfortunately the only tutorial I could find that explained everything step by step was for Flash MX and I'm using Flash CS4. It seems that the scripting code is different. I've never written Flash script before. I am trying at this point to give a rollover effect to a thumbnail image, so when the mouse goes over the thumbnail the thumbnail will get brighter. The code given in the tutorial didn't work, but by looking at the debugger messages it seems like the script should be something like:
    thumb1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,mouseOverHandler);
    function mouseOverHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
    thumb1.DisplayObject.alpha=100;
    I converted the thumbnail to a button symbol and then created an instance of the button called thumb1. The code is applied to a keyframe.
    Am I close with the code? How should it look?
    Thanks - Eric

    In Flash CS4 you can publish to either AS3 or AS2. The AS2 in CS4 is pretty much the same as it was in Flash MX (also known as Flash 6) — although there were some updates to AS2 since 2001!
    So if you want to use the tutorial as is, you would go to the Flash publish settings and change it to AS2.
    If you want to learn AS3 (and I would recommend that you do and forget AS2) you should be able to find tutorials for this. The code you gave isn't quite right. I don't know what that DisplayObject is doing in there. That is the name of a Flash Class, so you shouldn't give instance that as a name. I'm thinking your code should be something more like this:
    thumb1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,mouseOverHandler);
    thumb2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,mouseOverHandler);
    function mouseOverHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
         event.currentTarget.alpha=100;
    There are also a lot of other ways to do this, but this is one of the simplest to understand.
