Flash Stage Size and HTML

Is there a way to set a swf up via html to allow what's
outside the canvas on the left and right sides but not the top and
bottom.
Meaning, I have a large scrolling photo gallery, and what I'd
like to happen is that if a user has a resolution of 1900xWhatever,
the window will stretch out and they can see photos that are off
stage (since the stage is only 950xWhatever).
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance for the help!
K

What have you used as your html Export settings in Flash? (In
Publish settings)
You should be able to resize the swf (proportionately) and it
will scale.

  • Flash stage size problem

    Am using Flash Pro CS5 and although the documentation for Flash Player 10 at the link below
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/size-limits-swf-bitmap-files.html
    says that the max is 4050 by 4050.
    We are trying to run a swf in a  monitor array of 3840 by 4320 but in the editing of the document properties the limit is only 2880 by 2880.
    Has this been fixed in FLash CS6?
    Does anyone have any advice?
    We are stumped.

    Originally were using FP11.2 and then tried FP11.1 and went back to FP11.2 but couldn't load the swf at full stage with either. We can load a 1920 by 2160 stage but it doesn't look to be the right size - but were able to load the swf with the smaller stage size.(That is a separate issue though - the non-exactness of the stage dimensions.)
    We are attempting to output to a two by four  monitor array aiming for a 3840 (1920 x 2) by 4320 (1080 x 4) and the large stage size should be possible according to the specs but no go.

  • Flex Application Stage Size and Scale

    I am trying to create a Web and Desktop flex application for people who may have less than perfect vision. I would like to allow the users to magnify everything on the screen (including text, buttons, images, etc.) if necessary. I have gotten the magnification step down using the following code in the main Application
    var matrix:Matrix = this.transform.matrix;
    var scale:Number = 2;
    matrix.scale(scale, scale);
    this.transform.matrix = matrix; // this refers to the main Application
    Of course, by doing so, the Flex Application will be too big for the Flash Player window and only the top left quarter of the application is visible. I figure the next step is to decrease the Flex Application stage size by 50% to compensate. For some reasons, I can't figure out how to change the stage size of the Flex Application so that it only occupies the top left quarter of the Flash Player window.
    Any thoughts? Thanks a lot!

    Instead of manipulating the application, why not wrap all your content inside a container with scroll bars? You can then magnify the content and scroll it.
    I'd give it a go, but I have loads of other things to do and I can't help wondering if the browser is better at magnifying content.

  • VC 7 compatibility with flash player 8 and html

    Hi,

  • One project published with two stage sizes and shapes?

    I’ve got one project that must be deployed in two different size & shape layouts, online running in a 760 x 700 box (almost square) and also on a wide screen kiosk running 1120 x 700 (wide rectangular). Maintaining two separate layouts has been time consuming and thus costly.
    The compromise solution is to design a 1120 x 700 layout with the core functional elements placed on the right side of the stage, branding, supporting data, and eye candy filling the left. The idea is to crop the stage in the online version showing only the right most 760 x 700 content (all the core elements) while showing the complete stage for the kiosk. Branding for the online version is provided by the html container.  I know how to use masks and edit the html to show only the left side of the stage but I’m not sure how to show only the right side of the stage since moving the mask does not change the (0,0) point of the stage.

    As well as the reply from Anish about using your program on 2 computers, you need to ask in the program forum for how to best use the programs to do what you want

  • Flash query string and html

    Hi,
    The problem page is located at
    http://gauravchandra.info/gpi/mediaCentre.html
    I am using flash query string to pass a value into a variable
    so that the flash file loads at a particular frame.
    If you see the object and embed element, I have written
    "Body_image.swf?section=flame" in the movie source. This makes my
    flash movie play from a frame labeled - flame. But it is working
    only in internet explorer and that too only on local machine. When
    I upload it on server, it starts from the first frame everytime. In
    internet explorer, it works only on local and it does not even work
    on local in firefox.
    What am I doing wrong? Please help as it is urgent.
    Gaurav

    Would this be better suited for the Flash forum?

  • IPhone / iPad universal publish stage size

    I've tried the iPhone & iPad publish setting to publish for both devices. My code is designed to detect the stage size and layout the content differently according to the dimensions. Whenever I use this publish setting though the app on both devices only acts as if the stage size is the one set in authoring. If I set it to 1024x768, that's how big it shows up on the iPod. If I set it to 480x320, that's how big it shows up on the iPad.
    Am I missing something in my code? Even if I'm not changing the orientation, do I still need to listen to a resize event and THEN do my basic setup?

    Hi, I think the stage size is a different property from the screen size?  The stage size stays the same no matter how it is scaled within the screen, so Stage.stageWidth etc will always give the same value.
    Have a look at System.Capabilities.screenResolutionX / screenResolutionY instead.
    Hope it helps,
    Peter

  • Stage size for a Flash website?

    I am taking a beginners Flash course and our final project is to create a movie/website in Flash. 100% Flash based. In a previous course, I made an HTML site. For this project, I am recreating that website in Flash. But what should the stage size be? That is where I am stuck. I don't know what a normal Flash site size should be to fit the screen like a normal HTML site. Can anyone help me here with this please? I already know to havethe dimentions set to 100% and 100%. But for some reason, when I use Control > Test movie, it never seems to fit right. It's either crunched together to much or spread out to far to where the header and footer are partially off the screen. I've seen posts on the web from years ago that said 950x550 is the size needed. Is that still the case? Because it just doesn't look right. With HTML the page height would adjust to the content and it would automatically scroll if needed. But Flash doesn't seem to do that. It seems that you are stuck with 1 size and you have to work around it. But I don't know what size that is supposed to be. Sorry for the long rant. Just getting really frustrated. I'm using Flash CS4 if that helps any as well.

    if you want to use 100%x100% and not have your display objects resize, set your stage's scaleMode to noscale.  check the stage properties for your actionscript version for exactly how to do that.

  • Possibel to give stage size as parameter in html ?

    I know Stage size width and length are read only, but i think
    to remember that it was possible to change it the moment you call
    it from html ?
    No ?

    Just to add my 2 pence to what was already said..
    One of the rules for Robust Software is not to rely on implicit data type conversions to make things work. And that is what you are doing.
    The parameter is a date type. You pass a string value. Oracle now attempts to implicitly convert that string to a date.
    Sometimes it will work. Sometimes not. Why? Because it depends on things like the NLS settings of that particular sessions that governs implicit data conversions. Like what format must a string be in to be successfully converted into a date?
    And relying on this, is bloody dangerous. Consider the string '12/01/2008'. One session has a NLS date format of 'dd/mm/yyyy' and the other the format 'mm/dd/yyyy'.
    The result will be a successfully converted date.. but the WRONG date. And slowly and silently (no errors) your application starts to corrupt data in the database, because your code relies on implicit data type conversions.
    General rule: Implicit data type conversions are EVIL! Do not use!!

  • Flash CC Brush Tool abruptly stops drawing when stage size is small

    When using the Brush Tool, I'm having an issue that the stroke I'm drawing will abrupty cut off at a certain point on the screen (roughly halfway down the monitor, it doesn't relate to the canvas position or any coordinates).  This seems to happen when I have the Stage size set to a smaller size (64 x 64 pixels for example).  I've been able to reproduce the same behavior on multiple files, and on both a Windows 8.1 machine and a Windows 7 machine, both using the up-to-date version of Flash CC.  Both machines are dual monitor, I'm not sure if that plays a factor in this.
    To reproduce:
    1.  Create a new FLA in Flash CC and set the stage size to 64 x 64 pixels.
    2.  Use the Brush Tool and attempt to draw from the top to the bottom of the screen (zoom level and position on the canvas does not matter, as long as your cursor is going from near the top of your monitor to the bottom of your monitor).
    3.  The stroke will abruptly cut off mid-drawing at a certain point on the screen, roughly half-way down.  You can continue to draw and move upwards and it will reappear when it crosses this barrier again.
    This does not happen if the stage size is set to something larger (640 x 480 for example).  This also does happen in Flash CS5 or CS6, and have only noticed this happening in Flash CC.
    This is happening using the mouse for drawing, and also happened when I tested it on a different PC with a Wacom tablet attached.
    Is this happening for others as well, and is there any fix for this behavior?  (aside from always using a large stage size)

  • JPEG size and image losses in Flash CS3

    I am creating a website for a wedding and using the photos of the couple on the website.  I created designs in Photoshop CS3 with the following settings:
    Document Size: 6.25" x 8.25" or 1875p x 2475p @ 300pixels/inch
    To use the image in flash, I used "Save As" in photoshop to convert image into JPEG with "Quality 10 Maximum" setting.
    I created a Flash CS3 document with the following settings:
    Document Size: 6.25" x 8.25" or 494 x 550 pixels
    I imported the JPEG image from photoshop into flash and came in an image much larger than 6.25"x8.25".  I resized the image in flash with constrained dimensions to 494x550 pixels and it the text shadows and glow lost its clarity.
    TRIAL 1
    Obviously something was wrong.  So, I went back to Photoshop and used the save for web/devices option and saved it as a high quality JPEG.  Same result.
    TRIAL 2
    This time, I tried a different trick in Photoshop.  I went to Image->Image Size and changed the image resolution to 150pixels/inch and used "Save As" again.  I imported it again to Flash and now the image was too small.
    How do I match the image "save as" from photoshop to the flash document size so that I dont lose resolution?  I used Zoomify in photoshop successfully without losses.  Why is it not possible to just import an image to look the same way a JPEG file appears?

    Hi,
    screen resolution is 72. So if you save your jpg at 72 with the desired size in pixels, the image will appear just fine inside flash, but, two things to keep in mind:
    -What counts is size in pixels. Resolution only matters when you go printing (where the rate between inches and pixels is needed). For web you have to watch the size in pixels only. Even if resolution is different from 72, if you scale the image to the original size in pixels it will be displayed well in the flash movie (if the movie itself isn't scaled neither)
    And, it isn't the exactly same to import to scenary that to import to library. When you import to scenary (ctrl+r) sometimes flash resize the object, so maybe you get some distorsion in jpg files. Going to transform panel or in property inspector panel you can set the image size to 100 percent again. When you import to library you have to drag the image into the stage, and then the image will appear at 100%.
    i hope this helps,
    Jorge

  • Mixing Flash and html

    I am somewhat new, or I perpetually feel new to both html and flash. At any rate I am building a site for a friend where I have made a lovely simple flash movie and have dropped it into a div in dreamweaver. The movie takes up the entire page size and I have added other divs on top if it with html text.
    My question: Am I asking for trouble?
    So far all looks fine. I have had people tell me that stacking(nesting?) divs is a bad idea. I would like feedback from you pros. Thanks much

  • Loader and Stage-Size

    I'm loading a .swf (flash game) (719 x 480) into a new .fla that is bigger (1280, 720) than the dimensions of the .swf
    The game appears to load well, but when I start playing it, I realize that the game is messed up because it is actually running in the dimensions of the .fla
    Can somebody tell me how to constrain the loaded .swf to 719 x 480?
    NOTE: I can't change the .swf game file's coding
    And the .fla stage-size has to stay the same.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks!!

    Theres no way to have a box/window inside my .fla that essentially makes the .swf  work in it's own little stage? I just need something that will constrain/mask the  images that keep coming out of the enlarged .swf game.
    I need the targets to all stay inside that background, as it normally is when I play the .swf outside the .fla

  • Set specific size and position of preloader's empty movieclip on main stage

    hey, just wondering if it's possible to script an external preloader's empty movie clip to be of a specific size and position on the main stage? here's the script i've got for the preloader so far:
    var my_pb:mx.controls.ProgressBar;
    my_pb.mode = "manual";
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("Portfolio", 999);
    var my_mcl:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
    var mclListener:Object = new Object();
    mclListener.onLoadStart = function(target_mc:MovieClip):Void {
        my_pb.label = "LOADING: " + target_mc._name;
    mclListener.onLoadProgress = function(target_mc:MovieClip, numBytesLoaded:Number, numBytesTotal:Number):Void {
        var pctLoaded:Number = Math.ceil(100 * (numBytesLoaded / numBytesTotal));
        my_pb.setProgress(numBytesLoaded, numBytesTotal);
    my_mcl.addListener(mclListener);
    my_mcl.loadClip("Creative-Outrage_External.swf", Portfolio);
    thanks in advance.

    i could load the movies that way or if i tell my main movie to load the same preloader in an empty movieclip, instead of on the main timeline. however, this way it all looks great, but the buttons on the main timeline won't respond to user events from the external swfs.
