Flash video will work, right?
Dreamweaver helps, but it is not necessary. You can hand code
everything in notepad if you had to. The main thing you need is
something to convert the video to flv format. It also makes it
easier if you place that file in flash and output a swf file for
the web with a controller skin.
If your customers use a 56k modem, then the video will not
really work for them. Flash video works best on high speed
connections. The size is up to you. I found that 480x360 at medium
compression works pretty good for the web.
You can also create multiple versions of an FLV file
specifically geared at specific connection speeds. The FLVPlayback
component supports the SMIL format for this very purpose. My new
Flash Video book (see link in my signature) discusses the use of
SMIL for both progressive download and real-time streaming
deployment.
I have an example of SMIL working with real-time streaming

Why won't flash video's work on my iBook anymore?
so, previously i didn't have a problem watching flash video on my iBook. whne i say previoulsy i mean that serveral month ago i change the OS to 5.8. how i have problem's somehow relating to the flash players on sites. i don't think it effects YouTube, not that i'm a avid watcher of YouTube. but just to make sure...
...right, yes. YouTube still very functional.
i have scripts (por extension's) but have been switching them off to find out whether this will help. it didn't. so that just left coming here and see if there's anyone out there with simular issues or know what the help is going on and how to fix it.
i should mention the site i've been trying to watch from are; animecrazy.net and kumby.com, jap animation sites. amazing if you like or love that kind of stuff. but not what non of the flash players work
any help would be wonderful, cheers guy's/girlshello ronda,
there are certain FP's that are and aren't reliable. i think for me the confusion is that there's use to be lots more that i could rely on and that is'nt the case. so i suspect something somewhere has changed. as i'm non intel my flash play is limited to 10.1.102.64. i'm gonna set up a list with links to those that do, have never and did but longer do.
have never;
Watch with English Subs (Speedy Joe) Parts: 1
Watch with English Subs (youku) Parts: 1
Player 4
(i can't really tell which player this is cause it don't even load to intro)
Player 5
(agin can't tell which player this is, it also the second as the first one is megavideo)
did but no longer do;

Watch with English Subs (Rutube)
Watch with English Subs (Flv)

Watch with English Subs (MegaVideo)
Player 2
(JWPlayer, different site)
Player 3
ok the thing is that the links that are used aren't consistant on the one i would prefer to use. so one week you may find all the thing i want to watch have watchable links via non MV. other weeks you may find one. and again, i might find none at all. mainly it come usually comes down to MV with the occasional possibility of some other player.
i find it interesting that you can refresh to make the links work. i think i used to able to that on some of them but that no longer works. there very likely more link i may scout of them so i have a comprehensive list to reflect on. but i think its pretty much reflects the majority currently. -
Streaming flash video will not play automatically. Must move the mouse off the link
I have 4 computers, all running Win7. On every one, Internet explorer. 2 have firefox 3. 2 have firefox 4. When clicking a link on a website that has live streaming video (flash) - the stream changes to the next one and the video feed begins right away. Works fine on all 4 computers in IE, and in both Firefox 3. The video starts when the mouse is clicked, or when the screen is refreshed. On both computers with firefox4 - the mouse click loads the new feed, but the video hangs on a white screen until the mouse pointer moves. same problem when the feeds are set to auto-rotate. they load every 30 seconds, but unless I physically move the mouse, no video plays (or click the 'next feed' button again, which gives a split-second peek at the video feed I am navigating away from), I need to monitor many security cameras, and this is excruciating. Safe mode does not help. I have the newest versions of everything. please tell me this is a bug and not someone's bright idea

Flash videos not working on sf.tv
SF is the Swiss national TV channel. Their website has a main news portal and a video portal (http://www.videoportal.sf.tv). My problem is with the news portal.
They often embed flash videos into their news, but none of them will show up and play. I just get a blank space where the video should be. I'm mainly using Firefox, tried it by disabling add-ons like Adblock Plus or Noscript, without success. Same with Chrome and Internet Explorer. I played around with the Flash options, even used Adobe's deinstaller and reinstalled Flash, checked my firewall and antivirus software, my .hosts file, but the videos on the news portal still won't work.
Other websites like Youtube work without problem, as do the videos on SF's video portal.
My system is WinXP SP3 with an Intel onboard graphics card. I have no clue if the problem is on my side or if it's the website. Any suggestions how I could solve it?jklwcnflkasdjfnasjkf wrote:
The website isn't on the block list, I even added it as exception. I have Downthemall installed since ages, long before the problem with sf.tv started. As for Avast I already tried with deactivating all the functions, to no luck.
The reason I asked you whether you've been using DownloadThemAll for a while is because it resets certain network values in Firefox. You need to reset those back to their defaults if they've changed. To check, do the following:
In the location bar where you normally type in a URL, type about:config and hit Enter. (If you see a warning message, click "OK, I'll promise I'll be careful" to proceed)
In the filter at the top, copy/paste the following: network.http.max-connections
If the entry is in bold type, right click it and choose Reset from the menu.
Repeat the same steps for the following: network.http.max-connections-per-server | network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy | network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server
Close about:config and then try and play your videos again.
If the problem persists, do the following:
Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL to open the Clear History manager. (See screenshot)
Checkmark all the boxes you see in the screenshot.
Change the option to "Everything" in the dropdown menu at the top.
Click the Clear Now button. It might take a minute or two to delete everything, so don't worry if nothing appears to be happening.
I should warn you that running this utility will delete site preferences and active logins. If you have a cookie manager installed - I use CookieMonster - all your cookie settings will be deleted, but the cookies themselves will remain in place. This means that on a site where you expected a cookie to be enabled, it will appear to be disabled the next time you go there. You simply have to re-enable it in your cookie manager. The data within the cookie will remain the same.
Running this utility can resolve many issues though and yours might be one of them. -
Flash Video will not play anywhere.
In my hunt to solve this problem, I've come across a lot of
posts where people have embedded FLV files in HTML documents and
can play them fine on their local computer. But once posted to a
server, they will not play.
Well, my problem is similar except it won't play on my local
computer either. I'm using Dreamwever 8 and Sorenson Squeeze 3.1 to
compress my flash video. I have followed the steps outlined in this
tutorial,
and the end result just displays a white box where my video should
be. You can view my test
here.
The thing is, the tutorial's flash video works perfectly when
tested locally and on a remote server. And since all my code is the
same as the tutorial (and all the .swf and .js files were created
normally), this leads me to believe it has something to with my
.flv file. I have tried several configurations and compression
settings in Squeeze, but still nothing.
The FLV also works fine when linked into a SWF file using the
Media Component as you can see
here.
So is Sorenson Squeeze 3.1 out of date? Is there something in
the way it encodes the flash video that prevents it from being
played this way? Or is there some other (preferably inexpensive)
solution?quote:

I should have mentioned that I'm working on a mac, so an
encoder that would work on OSX would be prefered. Also, i tryed
that Riva program on a PC and it crashed on the first try and on
the second, it gave a warning that my source file would not work.
For now, I've worked around the problem by using Flash 8 and
embedding the .swf that links to the .flv file. But it would have
been nice to get dreamweaver's FLV player to work and bypass Flash
all together. -
All flash videos are working except this one!?
Tonight a friend of mine tried to watch this video: http://www.globalmaritimes.com/video/index.html
But, it will not work on her Vista laptop. So I tried everything, I uninstalled flash, reinstalled it, changed various internet settings, etc. I tried IE 7, and firefox but it doesn't matter the video will not work. Yet on my laptop running Ubuntu, this video loads fine in firefox. Is there any suggestions on what is going on? The strange thing is, that all other videos such as youtube will work on her computer just not this ONE video. I'm losing my mind here so any help would be appreciated!Hi
First of all dude...I have read everuthing closely.
But writing this ONE without any link, will do me no good.
And keeping referring to a link WITHOUT the actual link is not
helping a bit..
I have tried several random clips without a hitch.
Furthermore, you clearly state, that you've installed
Flash 10.1 BETA...That's not the release version..That's
the beta. So giving me a *SIGH*, won't do you any good since
I'm not to blame here.
I'm not a computer illiterate, I've been programming since I was 13.
It clearly depends on your current age.
Anyway.. You figure it out on your own now.
My help is hereby terminated. -
No Videos Will Work At All (Even if they are from advertisements)
No videos on my computer will work at all. It all started after going to a weird website after trying to look for something. But now I can't watch YouTube videos or any videos at all from any website. They are all very messed up. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Flash videos not working, show green screen
In all of my browsers (firefox latest version, chrome latest version, IE 8) flash videos on sites like Youtube and others will play audio but will only display a green screen (no video). I have updated flash "successfully" several times.
Also, I have tried uninstalling flash player several times but it never actually uninstalls, despite saying that the uninstall was successful. I have tried uninstalling on a clean reboot, with no programs running. What do I do?
EDIT: More info: On the adobe.com/software/flash/about page the flash video plays and the little box says "You have version 10,1,82,76 installed" so flash is definitely still installed. I also tried rebooting multiple times between uninstalls.Hi, glad you solved your own problem On the Uninstalling, removing it from add/remove or control panel/programs & features doesn't do it. In your case, glad it didn't since you ran the test, and Flash Player is working fine now(without the h.a)
If you ever need to Uninstall Flash Player, be sure to use the latest Uninstaller from Adobe since it changes each time a Flash Player Update is released.

You can always find the latest Uninstaller just be looking at a few threads here on the forum.

So I have a problem loading pretty much any flash videos in
both Firefox and IE. The video will load to a certain point and
then stop, and nothing I do will get it load further, not even
refreshing the page. I have to close out of the browser and get
back to it to have any chance of watching more. On YouTube, I can
sometimes click further on to make it start loading from there, and
even that stops working eventually. It's really, really annoying,
and I'm pretty sure it's something with Flash and not Java. Anyone
else have this?Uninstall Flash
Download OnyX and run all the checks, maintaince and cleaning aspects and reboot at the end.

Reinstall Flash
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If that doesn't work, create a new user, log into it and see if your issues continue. -
I’ve been making a couple of websites that need to
stream a little bit of Flash video. So I put together a little
Flash video selector swf using the simplest code (it has nothing
more than go to and play commands on the buttons and stop commands
on the timeline).
I’m also using the standard Flash wizard to stream the
video files using the low quality pre-sets on the transcoding.
I’ve used this method before and it seemed to work, but now
when I’m testing these sites in IE the Flash element seems to
crash all the time and freeze up the whole browser or the video
just doesn’t display. The weird thing is it usually plays the
first video but when you click the button to move to another it
crashes.
Here’s a couple of sites that it’s happening on
http://www.virtual360.org/v360/1.html
http://www.virtual360.org/video.asp
– they work fine in Firefox, but not in IE. Has anyone
seen this problem before? Any help would be much appreciated…
KieranThanks. I'm not clear where you're referring to. There are currently two object tags. One has <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash"...> like you describe. The other has a different format.
I'm not clear on what/where I'm supposed to change.
Thanks...

Hi
My daughter has a apple mac laptop. It is coming up with a white page with a file picture with a ? mark in the middle of it. It keeps flashing. Nothing will work now and we car'nt seem to work it out. Does anyone have any answers ?That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Just press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead. -
Flash video will not display properly
I've followed all the instructions on the Mozilla website, but Flash videos displayed within Firefox still appear pixelated and purple in color. The same site in IE looks fine. I have the latest version of Flash installed.
== URL of affected sites ==
http://youtube.comFlash version 10.1.d51 (shown in your plug-ins as "Shockwave Flash 10.1 d51) is a <u>'''pre-release'''</u> version (not fully tested; should be used only by developers and qualified testers). See: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/ ~~red:and~~ http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/releasenotes.pdf
Maybe you should report the problem here: http://bugs.adobe.com/flashplayer/
You <u>'''may'''</u> be using a publicly released version in IE (the latest as of today is version 10.0.45.2). Open IE, click Tools, click Manage Add-ons, choose "Show" and change to All Add-ons, scroll down and look for Shockwave Flash Object, look for version column.
<u>'''NOTE:'''</u> Firefox and most other browsers use a plug-in version of Adobe Flash (and other software) while IE uses an ActiveX version of Flash which Firefox does not use. See: [[ActiveX]] . When updating some products, you need to update for Firefox and IE <u>'''separately'''</u>.
If you want to remove the pre-release version of Flash for Firefox and install the latest released version, the instructions are below.
<u>'''Remove pre-release version'''</u>
Try to remove the <u>'''pre-release'''</u> version of Flash you have installed for Firefox. Close Firefox, then, using Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, look for "Adobe Flash 10 Plugin", choose Remove. After the removal is complete, it is a good idea to reboot your computer to assure that the removal is complete.
<u>'''Install/Update Adobe Flash Player for Firefox'''</u>: your ver. 10.1.d51 (~~red:pre-release~~); current ver. 10.0 r45
See: '''[http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+the+Flash+plugin#Updating_Flash Updating Flash]'''
-'''<u>use Firefox to download</u>''' and <u>'''SAVE to your hard drive'''</u> (save to Desktop for easy access)
-exit Firefox (File > Exit)
-check to see that Firefox is completely closed (''Ctrl+Alt+Del, choose Task Manager, click Processes tab, if "firefox.exe" is on the list, right-click "firefox.exe" and choose End process, close the Task Manager window'')
-double-click on the Adobe Flash installer you just downloaded to install/update Adobe Flash
-when the Flash installation is complete, start Firefox, and test the Flash installation here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507&sliceId=1
*<u>'''NOTE: On Vista and Windows 7'''</u> you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). See this: http://vistasupport.mvps.org/run_as_administrator.htm
*'''<u>NOTE for IE:</u>''' Firefox and most other browsers use a Plugin. IE uses an ActiveX version of Flash. To install/update the IE ActiveX Adobe Flash Player, same instructions as above, except use IE to download the ActiveX Flash installer. -
Most Adobe Flash videos stop working soon after startup?
Most sites videos dont work except for youtube and some others. I have tried many things and just recently i tried resetting my host file to default. After I ran the 'fix it' program from the website below and restarted my computer all flash player videos worked! but after about 2 minutes they would stop working if I opened a new video or reloaded the page. It does the same thing for all browsers. I have restarted my computer several times to make sure. It could have nothing to do with resetting my host file because i have never tried to play a video within the first 2 minutes of startup before. I have windows 7.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034?wa=wsignin1.0first, open flash without opening a fla. if it opens ok, create a new fla and save it. close flash and reopen the new empty fla and test it.
if that all works ok, open your project fla. save it with a different name. close flash, reopen the renamed project fla and attempt to test it. any problem? -
I have set up a flash video, and while it works in
DreamWeaver 8 (I use an XP Pro platform), it does not on the
Internet. There are three files that appear in a separate folder:
index.sbk
index.swf
index.swi
and all are uploaded to the Internet.
The code on my shtml page reads (the mixed caps and lower
case are not an issue, as everything else works on our site):
<script type="text/javascript">

); //end AC code

Thanks for any help anyone can give,
TBCDid you upload the "Scripts" folder that DW places in your
local site?

Hi Everyone,
I add a flash video to a page and when I preview it form DW
CS3 and from the website the video does not appear. I already have
one that is linked on the homepage but for some reason this
additional on will not play. Here is a link to the page in
question.

Does anyone have any suggestions for getting this to play? I
have others that I need to add in addition to this one.
Thanks,
RobertYour code paths are different on the index page video
