Flat file over sftp

Hi
I got a requirement to transfer flat file from ftp to remote trading partner ftp site. Can any body tell me the best way to do it. I can use ftp adapter but my client wants to have the report. I created ecs file and xsd for positional flat file but I am getting error while placing in the remote ftp. I dont want to translate the flat file to xml and back to flat file. this is flat file to flat file.
Thanks

You can use Custom document protocol also as a Identification type flat file.
Please post the error which you are getting while sending the message.

  • Flat file over HTTP or SOAP

    Hey Guys,
I need to post a Flat file over HTTP (or SOAP), is this possible without developing my own Adapter module?
I just need to get a Flat file from a FTP server and post to another server via HTTP,since there is no message mapping involved, i developed the scenario without any Integration Repository objects, it is just a pass-through scenario.
Now i am stuck on the receiver side since i am unable to post Flat file over HTTP.
Secondly i have Login URL, Logout URL and upload URL from the receiver system, i don't see any place in receiver HTTP adapter to put all these 3 URL's, can i use SOAP adapter to put all these URL anywhere?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • IDoc flat file over AS2 adapter to IDoc adapter

    Hi,
The scenario is IDoc flat file(.txt) over AS2 adapter to IDoc adapter. Could anyone help on how to convert the IDoc flat file to xml in AS2 adapter to execute the mapping further? we are using PI 7.0.
    Thanks in advance!
    -zameer

    Hi,
Since you are on Pi 7.0, you would not be able to use the modules for this in PI 7.1.
You would need to refer this document for converting from Idoc flat to XML
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/46759682-0401-0010-1791-bd1972bc0b8a?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
In your sender AS2 adapter, you can pass the file as is to an abap mapping which will do the conversion to Idoc xml. the output of the abap mapping goes to your message mapping then for conversion.
Another option would be to use a custom adapter module in the sender AS2 adapter to call the Aabap mapping to do the conversion into Idoc xml.
The custom adapter module would do a JCO/RFC call which will do the conversion before passing the data back to the adpter module.

  • IDoc flat file to IDoc

I am receiving flat file in SFTP Server which need to be posted into SAP (No mapping involved)
What will be the best approach ?
    1. I tried using IDOCFlatToXmlConvertor (The limitation in the format of source file. The parent and child node relationship should be explicitly mentioned in IDoc flat file which legacy system is not able to do) - Any workarounds ?
    2. I moved the Idoc flat file into SAP application server. Now need to schedule job using program RSEINB00
    3. File Content Conversion
Any other better solution ? Appreciate your help.
    Thanks and regards,
    Jose Augastine

For converting Idoc Flat file to idoc xml, ABAP mapping is one of the feasible option.

  • IDOC --- XI -- HTTP (via a flat file structure, not XML)

I am working on a senario in which we need to send a third party payroll service provider our HR Master Data records (Message type HROT_UM).  The manual method is to create a flat file from an IDOC and place the file in a shared directory, then upload the flat file by logging on to the web server.  We would like to automate this process using XI.
Is it possible to send a flat file structure to a webserver using a HTTP receiver adapter?  If not, can you provide a basic view of how to accomplish this task.  Please note that FTP is not an option for us.
Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    hey
flat file over HTTP is not possible,it takes only XML.

  • Flat-File Reconciliation

    Hi,
Could anyone give me pointers as to why we do trusted reconciliation using Flat files?
Is there any other method also available for trusted recon?
If yes, what are the advantages of Flat-files over those?
    TIA.

Flat file recon we do to create users in OIM from Some trusted resource. It is a first time process.
Suppose 100 people join the company
HR wants to enter this data in OIM to manage it for further activites.
So he will create one by one. It is time consuming
So instead of this he stores data in some csv file, or SAP, or AD, or People soft which he uses as Trusted Resource for OIM.
So we make trusted recon which creates the users in very less time. Just run schedule task and users will be created.
There are Peoplesoft,Database, SAP, AD trusted resources. It depends on the company which they use.
Just to add as per my exp:
Some clients are using web application for gathering user data. Which returns data in a csv or text file. So in that case we use flat file.

  • IDoc - SFTP (Flat File) file name

    Dear Experts,
Thanks for helping me so far, please find below my new request :
We have IDoc - SFTP (flat file) scenario in which I have did ESR by pass scenario and used standard module to convert IDoc xml to flat file.
But now user is asking to have the naming convention of the receiver flat file as SHPMNT05_<IDoc number>_<Reference number>.idoc.
Could you please let me know how this can be approachable. Many thanks in advance for your valuable inputs. Awaiting your replies.
    Thanks

  • Hierarchies in universe build over a flat file

    Hi,
I have buit a universe over a flat file which has a single table consisting of all the data(Dimenssions and Measures).
When I built a WebI report over that universe the drill button in the report pannel is showing as dissabled.
Even though I define a custom hierarchy in Universe Designer, it is the same case.
So, Is it possible to have hierarchies in universes that are built over flat files?
If yes, how is it done?
    Thanks,
    Viswanath.

How to enable Drill option in Webi Report based on BW universe.

  • Idoc to File Scenario(SFTP) with special requirement

We have a scenario Idoc-->File(SFTP), in which one field which is having multi-line and we want that field as structured below.

As you can see in the expected output, the payment node is itself a flat file king of structure. And it should be as its shown above.
Can this be done with any custom module or ABAP code? Please suggest over the scenario.
    Thanks a lot!

    Thanks for your replies.
I know the requirement is bit unclear. Now, the client gave a second option.
They are telling if the file say xyz.txt(flat file content- mapped to payment node) is there in unix directory and PI picks the file there. Now, the XMLtags needs to be added to this picked file as shown in the above structure.
    xyz.txt

  • Not able to display flat file's error line in output

The below Source Code is BDC for XD01 (update Customer Master Record) in CALL TRANSACTION method. This program is written in call transaction method cause as per user’s requirement, user wants error log to be printed as soon as the BDC process finished in the background mode.
When you execute this below program it will show a selection screen from where you can select your flat file from system.
After executing this code show output like below as soon as it finished processing the FLAT file.
    1. Customer Update Summary
    2. Successful record with customer number and name.
    3. Error Records with 'record number' and 'reason for error'
(For testing you just have to copy-paste-save-active  the source code)
And I have encountered an issue over here in 3rd section-“Record Number” of “Error Records”.
The “Record Number” is for display the line number of that flat file line which in which error has occurred.
The “Record Number”  Entries showing only ‘0’ instead of showing line number of error entry .
I have used Function Module FORMAT_MESSAGE to capture the errors. But not able to display line number of that flat file which is containing error.
So please suggest me what changes I should make in below source code to get proper output.

  • Size of Infocube Export to a flat file (.CSV)

First off, I'm new to BW so I apologize if I use the wrong terminology. I was wondering if there was any way to estimate the size of a flat file infocube export. For example, if I look up all the associated DB tables for a cube, let's call it TESTCUBE, would the total size of those tables be about the size of the TESTCUBE export to a flat file. This assumes that the cube is not compressed in any way. So if the the total DB table size is 100 MB then is the flat file about 100 MB? If not, is there a way to estimate this.
    Thanks!

Can't say for sure how all DBs that BW run on work, but with Oracle, space is consumed in blocks, not by rows/records.
Let's say you have a table where the average row width (record length) is 100 bytes.  In a tablespace that has 8K blocks, in theory, you could fit 81 rows in the block.
However there is usually a certain amount of freespace left in a block when rows are added to accomodate subsequent inserts/updates.  The BW tables I have looked at default this to 10%. So that means youe have over 800 bytes of the block that might not get filled.  There are other things that can result in space being consumed, such as deletions that will leave dead space, and updates can cause a row to migrate to another block, etc.  Also, space is allocated in chunks as a table grows, and you may add one row to a table that causes a 10MB chunk of storage to be allocated, but it is holding only 1 row.
So as you can begin to see.  A flat export should require less space than the source table (unless you are using database table compression which could completely invalidate what I have said), but by how much depends on all the things I mentioned, and could change from day to day.
You could certainly use as a rough rule of thumb, that a flat file export will require the same space and you would be safe (except if you are using db compression).

  • Saving query results to a flat file

    Hello Experts!
We have a very specific issue on our current project and I would like to know if any of you have ever done something similar. We are taking query results from BW (after complex calculations, some based on SY-DATE) and saving them to flat files to transfer to a SQL database structure on the Enterprise Portal. From here, the portal team renders the information into more "static" dashboards that include mouse over features and even limited drilldown (i.e. no matter where a user clicks the report always drills down on profit center)
There are many reasons why the model is set up as such (mostly training of executive level end users), and even though it doesn't mesh with the idea that BW could do this work on its own, we have to work with what we have.
We have come up with 3 possible ways to save this data to flat files and hopefully someone can tell us which might be the most effective.
1.) Information Broadcasting. If we broadcast XML files to the portal, will the portals team be able to read that data into a SQL database? Is there another way to use broadcasting to create and send a flat file to specific location?
2.) RSCRM_BAPI. This transaction seems to not support texts.
3.) Open Hub. In order to get the open hub to work, we first have to save all of our query results to direct write data store objects using APD. (calculations based on current date, for example, would require daily full loads to the underlying data providers otherwise.)
What is the best way to accomplish this? Is information broadcasting capable of doing this?
    Thanks!

    Hi Adam,
Do you have to use flat files to load the information to a SQL database? (if so maybe someone else has a suggestion on which way would be the best).
I try to stay away from flat file uploads as there is a lot of manual work involved. May I suggest setting up a connection to your SQL table in the DBCON table and then writing a small abap program to push data into the SQL database (which you can automate).
    1) Use APD to push data into a table within BW.
    2) Go to transaction SM30 > table DBCON and setup a new entry specifying the conncection parameters to your SQL database.
    3) In SE38 Write an ABAP program along the folloing lines (assuming the connection you set in DBCON is named conn1:
    data: con_name like dbcon-con_name
    con_name = 'conn1'.
    exec sql.
      set connection :con_name
    endexec.
****have a select statement which reads data from your table which the data is saved from the APD into an internal table**********
****loop on the internal table and have a SQL insert statement to insert the records into the SQL table as below******
    exec sql.
insert into <SQL TABLE> (column names seperated by ,)
values (column names of the internal table seperated by ,)  if the internal table is named itab the columns have to be specified as :itab-column1
If you decide to take this approach you may find more info on DBCON and the process in sdn. Good Luck!
