Flex 4.5 Containers and padding

Hi!
I wonder what do you think is the best approach (or which way do you use) to apply padding to spark containers.
I would really like to use css styling to apply them as on the Flex 3.5 components since I find quite ugly to set them on code.
thanks a lot,
Polaco.

In spark containers the padding is on the layout.
For example:
<s:Group>
    <s:layout>
        <s:VerticalLayout paddingBottom="5" paddingLeft="5" paddingTop="5" paddingRight="5" />
    </s:layout>
</s:Group>

    Adjustments to default size and padding for TextInput and TextArea skins.
    TextInput default with is big enough to hold 10 characters (it will actually hold more than 10 "normal width" characters)
    TextArea padding matches TextInput padding
    These changes are done to the Spark and Wireframe skins.

    My MacBook Pro was stolen last night. I need the serial number. It is not showing up on my devices list. My iPads and iPhones are. I have used it to to sync my phones and pads as well having it registered with apple. Any thoughts? Thanks

    Click here: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
    SIgn in with your Apple ID, the same one you used to access this support forum.
    Hopefully, you will see a list of all the devices you registered with your Apple ID, including their serial numbers. Let me know how this works out.
    Edit to add: If you enabled "find my imac" on your Pro, you ought to be able to remotely lock it, or even wipe its memory. Click http://www.icloud.com/ sign in with your Apple ID and click the big green "find my iPhone" icon (nevermind the name, it will find all your devices provided they're running Lion or iOS 5).
    Then file a police report and nail the b*****d.

  • Should I use Standard C++ Containers and Stuff for games and other real time activities?

    Hello,
    I'm a C++ developer using VS 2012 and VS 2010 for developing AAA titles. I have read about not using STL and other stuff provided in the standard headers that come with VS. I read most of the stuff on the websites based on game programming and some
    are really from the people well known in the industry. I have seen cases where they wont even use vector, list, map and others and not even use utility functions and algorithms. In such cases they write those containers and stuff themselves which has almost
    the same interface and so much of debug and implementation time spent on such huge code.
    I have two questions:
    1: Isn't the C++ implementation that comes with VS optimized for the platform for better performance? Isn't it using some intrinsic functions that people on the client end doesn't know about and supplying their own implementation would indeed be
    more slower in basic container operations such as insert, remove, find, swap, copy? Lets assume that we supply our own custom allocators for faster memory management to every container that we use. Also, they take care of fragmentation, alignment and stuff.
    Why develop custom containers with almost same interface, why not spend that time on writing allocators and other stuff that might actually help?
    2: There are times when we include a lot, a lot, of unnecessary stuff through the standard headers in a huge code base. Unnecessary, because we only needed a thing or two from such huge headers including other huge headers and so on. Now, I know templates
    aren't instantiated unless used, same goes for the members functions inside them and blah blah. Since, these are precompiled headers, it is safe to assume that there is no compile time hit for that unnecessary stuff. My question is, is there any hidden effect
    of such inclusions on code size (executable) that grows with the huge growth of the code base? In my opinion there shouldn't be, but I wanna know I'm not mistaken just in case.

    Hi
    I can tell you a story about one of our projects. We had to implement a block management system for harddisks (like the parts of file systems that allocate, free blocks and do the bookkeeping stuff). Now, one guy was convinced, that we should use the STL,
    because it's easy to use and very well optimized and things like that. An other one said, that he would implement it by hand. So we decided to do both for a little test. The result was, that the hand implemented thing was much easier to write and much faster...
    and the one using STL saw, that some classes were so slow, that he couldn't believe it... he then tryed to build some classes by hand and exchange them (e.g. array classes and stuff like that) and it was way faster than the STL and he wrote them in minutes
    (!)... since then nobody wanted to use STL again... we don't even try it. It ended that we wrote our own string and array classes and stuff like that... easy little things that we understand. Now it's easy to use and fast and still flexible, because we know
    what it's doing...
    ... but, that's just a story about our development and of course, we're often programming very close to the hardware and also using assembler languages often... so, I don't know what this tells us... you have to decide :-)

  • New flex field in "Gender and Marital Status"

    Hi Experts,
    Please Let me Know whether we would be able to add New Flex Field in "Gender and Marital Status" in Manage Person Page,.
    Thanks&Regards
    Prasanna Kesavan

    It sounds like you are trying to add a new value of "Significant Other" to the Marital Status drop down.  If that is what you are trying to do, the list is controlled through the MAR_STATUS lookup.  That Lookup is extensible so you can add new values if you like.
    To update the Lookup, navigate to Setup and Maintenance and query the Manage Common Lookups task.
    Then query the Lookup Type = MAR_STATUS
    From there you will be able to see all of the values available for different countries.
    If the options are greyed out, then you will not be able to alter them because they are delivered with the product.
    However, you have the option to add new values of your own here.
    If you only want to see the value for particular countries, you can add a value in the "Tag" column with the Country Code where the value should be visible (i.e. if the code is only applicable in the US then you would add "+US" in the tags, if the code is applicable everywhere except the US then you could add the tag "-US").
    Hope that is helpful,
    Karla

  • Can I run two midi controllers (keyboard  and pad) at the same time?

    ie.....can I play keyboard and use a pad for an effect of some sort - creating two instraments at the same time. I want to play say, piano on one instrament w/ a keyboard and at the same time play a synth effect on a trigger pad with another instrament (es 2)????????

    Yes.
    set 2 instruments to different midi channels.set the keyboard and pad to match.
    record enable both tracks in arrange.
    check: file/song settings/recording/auto demix by channel if multi-track recording
    this will allow you to record them both.

  • Flex 4 Migration: skinning, and Actionscript

    Hello,
    I've been researching about this topic, but I wasn't able to find any  examples on "how to skin in flex4" using actionscript. I'm trying to  make a simple test, just load an image inside a container and set the  borderSides properties. This property, and many others, are missing from  flex 4 "by default", now I have to create/define a skin and code it  using Line graphics components, is that correct?
    anyways, my "real" (probably not the smartest but...) I've been struggling around  this problem for a couple days:
       - How do I migrate from Flex 3 (css styles and other stuff) to Flex 4 (skins), BUT I don't want to use mxml files, I'd like to keep everything written in actionscript in my application. It has to be feasible but I couldn't figure out how.
    Thanks in advance
    Renan

    Thanks for the help, we managed to do a skin in actionscript.
    Can you help me with two other issues, I'm still not comfortable with this Flex4 transition:
    Is it possible to load/add an image to a group from the container (in actionscritpt), or you can only do that using skins?
    Can I inherit skins like other classes? For instance: I have a skin to draw borders and another to draw an image, can I extend it to "merge" these two behaviors, border+image.
    Thanks

  • Solaris containers and Fiber connection

    Hi guys,
    I have sucsessfully migrated solaris 8 system to solaris 10 containers. and also mounted some RAID enabled partition on non global zone without any issue. now i need to connect a fiber channel to my host OS (solaris 10) and add the SAN partition to my container (solaris 8). if i run cfgadm command it says cfgadm: Library error: Device library initialize failed: Invalid argument.
    there are some other ways to mount the SAN (mount the SAN on host and export the partition to container). but i need the above method . is it possible to mount the SAN partition from the non-global zone ? if so how should i do it .
    thanks,
    Tharanga

    As far as i know you can't give the non-global zones the required permissions which is needed to mount a FC LUN directly into the non-global zone.
    I think you have to mount the LUN in the global zones, and then loop-back-mount them into the non-global zone.

  • Load-balancing and fail-over between web containers and EJB containers

    When web components and EJB components are run in different OC4J instances, can we achieve load-balancing and fail-over between web containers and EJB containers?
    null

    It looks like there is clustering, but not loadbalancing available for rmi
    from the rmi.xml configuration. The application will treat any ejbs on the
    cluster as one-to-one look-ups. Orion will go out and get the first ejb
    available on the cluster. See the docs on configuring rmi.xml (and also the
    note below).
    That is a kind-of failover, because if machine A goes down, and the
    myotherAejbs.jar are on machine B too, orion will go out and get the bean
    from machine B when it can't find machine A. But it doesn't go machine A
    then machine B for each remote instance of the bean. You could also specify
    the maximum number of instances of a bean, and as one machine gets "loaded",
    orion would go to the next available machine...but that's not really
    loadbalancing.
    That is, you can set up your web-apps with ejbs, but let all of the ejbs be
    remote="true" in the orion-application.xml file:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE orion-application PUBLIC "-//Evermind//DTD J2EE Application
    runtime 1.2//EN" "http://www.orionserver.com/dtds/orion-application.dtd">
    <orion-application deployment-version="1.5.2">
    <ejb-module remote="true" path="myotherAejbs.jar" />
    <ejb-module remote="true" path="myotherBejbs.jar" />
    <ejb-module remote="true" path="myotherCejbs.jar" />
    &ltweb-module id="mysite" path="mysite.war" />
    ... other stuff ...
    </orion-application>In the rmi.xml you would define your clustering:
    <cluster host="230.0.0.1" id="123" password="123abc" port="9127"
    username="cluster-user" />
    Tag that is defined if the application is to be clustered. Used to set up
    a local multicast cluster. A username and password used for the servers to
    intercommunicate also needs to be specified.
    host - The multicast host/ip to transmit and receive cluster data on. The
    default is 230.0.0.1.
    id - The id (number) of this cluster node to identify itself with in the
    cluster. The default is based on local machine IP.
    password - The password configured for cluster access. Needs to match that
    of the other nodes in the cluster.
    port - The port to transmit and receive cluster data on. The default is
    9127.
    username - The username configured for cluster access. Needs to match that
    of the other nodes in the cluster.

  • Nature of relations between Containers and Components in AWT

    I don't know if this entitles me for Duke Dollars but I just wanted to contribute something anyway. Please let me know if it does. Here it's:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.applet.Applet;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    Name: Negib Mohamed
    Purpose: to show the relationship between Containers and Components is 1:n
    Software: JDK Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_05-b04)
    Date: 30/04/2005
    The following program shows that the relationship between Container and Component classes is 1:n (one to many). A Component object can only be added to one and only one Container object whereas a Container object can contain as many Component/Container objects as needed. The button b1 (a Component object) shows, as shown when the program below is run, in only panel p1 or p2 (Container objects) depending on whether which one of the objects (panels) is instantiated last. It seems that the one instantiated last snatches the button object from the one instantiated first. When the button is clicked either of the following is output by the program, depending on which lines are uncommneted:
    java.awt.Button[button0,29,5,37x23,label=One]
    java.awt.Button[button0,28,5,37x23,label=Two]
    The same button (button0) with two different labels (One and Two) which are set in their respective containers (panels). Comment and uncomment the lines indicated below to see the result.
    After compilation just run it at the prompt as an application as in say:
    c:\javadir\java Relations
    public class Relations extends Applet implements ActionListener {
    Button b1;
    Panel p1, p2;
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    Frame fr = new RelationsFrame("Relations Frame");
    fr.setSize(200, 100);
    fr.show();
    public void start(){
    b1 = new Button();
    b1.addActionListener(this);
    // p2 = new PanelTwo(b1); //p2- instantiated first
    // p1 = new PanelOne(b1); //p1- instantiated last
    //uncommnet the two lines above and comment above the two below to see the result
    p1 = new PanelOne(b1); //p1- instantiated first
    p2 = new PanelTwo(b1); //p2- instantiated last
    setLayout(new BorderLayout());
    add(p1, "North");
    add(p2, "South");
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){
    System.out.println(e.getSource());
    class RelationsFrame extends Frame {
    Applet applet;
    public RelationsFrame (String title) {
    super(title);
    applet = new Relations();
    applet.start();
    add(applet);
    addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter() {
    public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e) {
    dispose();
    System.exit(0);
    class PanelOne extends Panel {
    Button b;
    PanelOne (Button b) {
    this.b = b;
    b.setLabel("One");
    add(b);
    add(new Label("I am panel one."));
    class PanelTwo extends Panel {
    Button b;
    PanelTwo(Button b) {
    this.b = b;
    b.setLabel("Two");
    add(b);
    add(new Label("I am panel Two."));
    This is a variation of the above program. It takes a commnad line argument as the choice of the panel to display the button in.
    public class Relations2 extends Applet implements ActionListener {
    Button b1;
    Panel p1, p2;
    int pNum;
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    String s = "2"; //default
    if (args.length != 0)
    s =args[0];
    Frame fr = new RelationsFrame("Relations Frame", s);
    fr.setSize(200, 100);
    fr.show();

    try {
    pNum = Integer.parseInt(num);
    catch(NumberFormatException e) {

    pNum = 2;
    public void start(){
    b1 = new Button();
    b1.addActionListener(this);
    if (pNum == 1) {
    p2 = new PanelTwo(b1); //p2- instantiated first
    p1 = new PanelOne(b1); //p1- instantiated last
    else {
    p1 = new PanelOne(b1); //p1- instantiated first
    p2 = new PanelTwo(b1); //p2- instantiated last

    add(p1, "North");
    add(p2, "South");
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){
    System.out.println(e.getSource());
    class RelationsFrame extends Frame {
    Applet applet;
    public RelationsFrame (String title, String num) {
    super(title);
    applet = new Relations2(num);

  • CSS borders and padding

    I have a CSS stylesheet (external) that defines a border for an image.  I have a:link, a:visited, a:hover, a:active defined with padding.  However there is a huge difference when I preview the page in IE7 vs IE8.  IE8 renders the page like Firefox, Safari, Opera, and Chrome (I haven't tried a couple of the Mac browsers yet like Camino and Flock because I am authoring on a WIndows box, but I believe they will render the same as Firefox latest version).
    Now, how can I get IE7 and IE8 to render the same?  Basically IE7 puts a huge border at the top of the image pad.  The image is 300x300pixels and my padding-top is set to 340pixels while padding is set to 20pixels.  IE7 computes the padding as a 300 pixel margin at the top of the image while IE8 needs that large padding-top number to complete the box around the image and doesn't give an excessive border.

    Copy & paste code below into a new blank HTML document (code view).
    This is how my linked image displays in Safari, IE6 and FF3x.  Border is 5px solid yellow and padding is 20px all around.   I don't need conditional comments for IE.

    i have created a flex library project that connects to a BlazeDS endpoint for consumer/producer communication... i have used action script rather than configure the config.xml file on the server...  heres a snip of the code...

    anybody?
    thanks

    I usually follow these steps from Gyroplast to get my sound working
    1. Run pacman -S {alsa-driver,alsa-lib,alsa-utils,alsa-oss}, in this order.
    2. run depmod -a to make the newly installed modules known for dependency checks.
    3. Identify which module to use for my soundcard; http://www.alsa-project.org very quickly told me that I'd need to load  snd-emu10k1.
    4. Add this to your /etc/modules.conf:
    # Sound (ALSA)
    alias char-major-116 snd
    alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1
    post-install snd-emu10k1 /usr/sbin/alsactl restore
    pre-remove snd-emu10k1 /usr/sbin/alsactl store
    alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
    # Soundcard 1 (OSS Emulation)
    alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
    alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
    alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
    alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
    alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
    # Sound lookup entries for devfs support
    alias /dev/dsp sound-service-0-3
    alias /dev/sequencer sound-service-0-1
    alias /dev/mixer sound-service-0-0
    5. Run depmod -a again. Kills the warning.
    6. Edit your /etc/devfsd.conf and add this:
    # Allow access to sound devices for group "audio"
    REGISTER ^sound/.* PERMISSIONS root.audio 0660
    REGISTER ^snd/.* PERMISSIONS root.audio 0660
    # Load ALSA sound when needed
    LOOKUP snd MODLOAD
    LOOKUP dsp MODLOAD
    LOOKUP mixer MODLOAD
    LOOKUP sequencer MODLOAD
    note:  make sure you have an "audio" group and your userid is added to it!
    7. That's nearly it. Now open your /etc/rc.conf and add  snd-emu10k1 to the MODULES array.
    8. Reboot to test, run alsamixer afterwards to set the volume, and try out any sound application. Everything should run just fine, and mixer settings are automatically preserved

  • Flex Builder 3 / Linux and flashplayer selection

    Hi all,
    I'm a Flex/AS/Eclipse newbie, and I'm learning all these ones at once in these days.
    I'm running Flex Builder 3 with Eclipse 3.3.2 (Europa) in Linux.
    Now I'm trying to write a simple project, I should have done something to my system so now I'm getting this error message when I try to compile:
    | Flex Builder cannot locate the required version of Flash Player. You might need to install Flash Player 9 or reinstall Flex Builder.
    | Do you want to try to run your application with the current version?
    My question is: how can I select the flashplayer / plugin to use for a specific Flex project?
    Many thanks in advance, best regards.

    Hi, thanks for your answer.
    It turned out the problem was related to the *standalone* flashplayer.
    This is located in linux in:
    FLEX_BUILDER_INSTALL_PREFIX/Player/linux
    when I was clicking on the "Run" button Flex Builder was looking for a flashplayer standalone app, and was failing to find it.
    What I had to do was to add the complete the flashplayer path to the PATH used by eclipse.
    Now clicking on "Run" it compiles the application and launches the standalone player with the generated swf file.
    Now I wonder if there is some way to select the flashplayer to launch, and if it is possible to configure eclipse to make it launch a  browser or a custom script rather than execute that swf with the standalone player.
    Thanks, regards.

  • How to install FLEX in SAP WAS and How to deploy project into SAP EP ?

    Hi.
    I want to create SAP EP Contents using FLEX and I have serveral question about this.
    1. How to install Flex into SAP EP and What do I have to install ?
    2. When we developing SAP EP Contents using FLEX,
        Which Tool do I have to use ? (NWDS or Flex Builder)
    3. After we develop contents, How can I deploy into SAP EP and
       How to create iView for Flex Application ?
    Sorry for many question.
    Kindly explain this.
    Regads, Arnold.

    Hi Arnold,
    here my answers to your questions:
    1) You don't need to install flex under EP, you need only adobe flash player 9 on EP
    2) If you want to develop a SAP Ep cont using Flex, you need adobe flex builder 2 or 3 (ide based).
    3)You can store under any EP folder (es. KM) the .swf  object and html page of FLEX application, create an iView and call the url link
    or load the .swf as mime object in BSP on backend syst, include in a bsp page and create iView for bsp..
    Regards

  • There are 5 plugin containers and it appears that they are growing, what's up with this?

    between the plugin-containers and executable, firefox has become a monster, starting to hog resrouces? takes forever to load photoshop now......and after a period of non-use, the machine seems to be quite a bit slower.....

    Since Pixel Check doesn't show it as "stuck" or dead, it must be some sort of software issue, right?
    I mean, it seems to respond properly to that program telling each sub-pixel to turn on and off...
    Also, it appears in a DVD window under most circumstances (not just black) but seems to dim as I increase the size of the window...
    Strange...
