Flex 4 SDK beta 2 download

There's no beta 2 sdk download. At the top of the beta 2 download page it says...
"As a reminder, everything that is in the Flex 4 SDK is also included in Flash Builder 4, so you will not need to download the SDK if you plan on using Flash Builder."
But if you download the win version of Flash Builder the beta 2 SDK  only has  the win version of the Adobe AIR Runtime.
If you download the Mac version of Flash Builder the beta 2 SDK  only has  the Mac version of the Adobe AIR Runtime.
You need to manually merge these to make a full SDK.
This was discovered because we check in the SDK into perforce... and when people tried to execute our AIR based test runner on both win and mac when we only had the win version of the adobe air runtime checked in... we got "Adobe AIR could not be found" on the mac versions.
After copying the mac version into the SDK and checking it in... it worked just fine.

It's probably best to file a bug at http://bugs.adobe.com/flex/ (not sure if this would potentially be an SDK issue or a Builder issue, but we can move it after the fact if it should belong somewhere else).
Also, if you post the bug number here, I can try and speed it through the process.

  • How to download Flex SDK 4.5 ?

    Hi,
    I am having trouble to download The Open Source Flex SDK 4.5 zip file from http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+4.5
    The file is only 13.2MB instead of 63MB, and when I try to open it, the archive appears to be damaged.
    Is there any other alternative url for downloading this SDK?

    Thanks Darrell,
    The link you provided takes me back to the same download page:
    http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+4.5
    The  Open Source Flex SDK Zip file downloads fine here too.
    However, I am not able to open or unzip it as the archive seems to be incomplete or damaged.
    Can you open that zip file?

  • Flex SDK 4.5 MPL download corrupt?

    I was downloading Flex SDK 4.5 MPL, the open source version, but the downloaded file was only about 13M bytes and not a valid zip archive.
    Anyone can check that?
    P.S.
    Where can I find MD5/SHA1 checksums to check the integrity?

    Exactly the same, reported as a bug to flex bug tracker last week, no action since. I assume the zip is either part of a multi-part series or is just corrupt, very frustrating though! Hope someone spots this or the ticket soon.

  • Flex SDK Download - checksum error

    Hello,
    I downloaded the Flex SDK from
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/downloads/
    When I unzip it (with WinRAR), I get a checksum error.
    Any advice?
    Thanks.

    Thanks!   I noticed the whole site was down for a bit and is now back up.    Just wanted to be clear that this was not my initial problem - it was just the flex sdk 3.1  - which is still not available, at least for me.

  • Flex SDK Download server is down.

    Incase no one at Adobe is aware, none of the downloads work for any of the files found at:
    http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+4
    Select an item to download, click the checkbox and once you click on the "Download Zip" link you get an error everytime, regardless of which file you are trying to download.  I've tried off and on all morning and have had the same result each time.
    Here is the error message for the latest full nightly build:

  • Where to download Flex SDK

    Where can I download the Flex SDK.
    The link SAP Dashboard Design (Xcelsius Engage) 2008 Component SDK SP3
    only contains Xcelsius and the SDk documentation.
    Where can I download the SDK with the Add-on pakcager?

    Hi Mike,
    Follow the link again, maybe the text had not been updated when you last looked, it says:
    The SDK is included as a custom installation type when you install Xcelsius 2008 SP3, refer to the Xcelsius 2008 SP3 install guide for more details
    So the SDK is included with Xcelsius 2008 SP3, it is no longer available for download on its own as you need Xcelsius 2008 SP3 to test your add-on anyway.

  • Flex SDK incorrectly handling projection center

    I'm not sure if anyone else is noticing this, but I've recently had trouble with the projection center of my Flex projects. According to the documentation - the default projection center is supposed to be the center of the stage. However, my flex apps by default are using (0,0) as the projection center. I'm having to manually set it as the center using:
    var per:PerspectiveProjection = new PerspectiveProjection();
    var pt:Point = new Point(this.stage.width/2,this.stage.height/2);
    per.projectionCenter = pt;
    this.transform.perspectiveProjection = per;
    This works, but I'm not sure why it's not this way by default - this is not a problem using Flash CS4, only using the flex sdk. What's weird for me, is I don't remember this being an issue in the past - I'm running on a new computer, with new installs of both Flex Builder 3 and Flash Builder 4 (Both exhibit this behavior along with SDK 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4)
    I feel like I must be missing something easy here - any ideas?

    You don't need to upgrade your software.  But if you're struggling with Spry, IMO you should cut your losses and switch to something better for the longrun.
    If you have a budget to work with, I highly recommend Project Seven's Pop-Menu Magic 3.  It's easy to use in DW CS4, 5, 6 or CC.  More importantly, it's bullet proof and works in all devices.
    Pop-Menu  Magic3 by PVII (commercial DW extension)

    If you don't have a budget to work with, you can roll your own menus with jQuery plugins.  A bit more effort on your part, but they perform better than Spry.

  • Flex SDK with Eclipse

    Hello,
    I am quite new in Flex and Eclipse, but I would like to start my journey. So at the beginning I have to have a software to create my projects. I decided to make it in Eclipse SDK with Flex SDK. But I have no idea how can I install Flex SDK in Eclipse. I mean I would like to be able pree new and then Flex application. Something like this in this movie: http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/media/flexapp/
    So can someone help me??

    The Flex 2 plugin for Eclipse does not work with Eclipse
    3.3.x - you need 3.2.x. Download the Flex 3 Beta from Adobe labs
    and that will work with Eclipse 3.3.x
    You can use a Flex 2 SDK with the Flex Builder 3 plugin -
    each Flex 3 project can select its own Flex SDK. Plus you can help
    us test Flex 3, including the Profiler tool.

  • Xcelsius 2008 and Flex SDK

    Hello all,
    I'm new to Xcelsius and Flex SDK and I don't get any information about that:
    For what do I exactly need Flex SDK? Only if I want to implement a new template for Xcelsius like a "better" property-panel?
    I also want to know, when I want to store data out of my dashboard, can I use and handle them directly in a Web Dynpro environment?
    Does anyone have experience with that or could help?
    Thanks in advance
    best wishes, Bonita

    Hi Bonita,
    Xcelsius provides standard set of visual components, but in some situation we might need some functionality that is note there in standard set of components. That is where flex comes into picture with the help of Flex SDK we can develop custom components and then use the Xcelsius SDK to compile and use that as an add on inside Xcelsius. Custom build components are also available in marketplace (we can opt from a large set of variants, developed in Flex & Xcelsius SDK). Flex coding is mostly done in MXML and events are Handeled with Action Script.
    Note : We need Flex SDK along with Xcelsius SDK only when we need to create some custom component. Xcelsius SDK can be downloaded from SAP Website or can be installed during Setup installation.
    Data can be exported out of Xcelsius with the help of External Interface connection. Sample is available in the extracted installation file. Data exchange is Handeled with scripting language. Don't know Web Dynpro  environment supports the scripting or not.
    Good Luck

  • Flex SDK installation-Im confused?

    hello
    I have downloaded and extracted the files that I need for Flex SDK, however, wondering where to start it up at?  Help? All I see is a bunch of folders and no where to begin..
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi,
    This forum is for folks developing the SDK itself, I assume you're trying to figure out how to just get started with Flex development.  Take a look at the getting started guides on the dev center http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex, for example the Learn Flex in a week and the quickstarts.  Other questions might be better served on the regular Flex forums: http://forums.adobe.com/community/flex/flex_general_discussion

  • How to setup Flex SDK with latest AIR SDK?

    Now the latest AIRSDK web page has a small link at the bottom for Flex users and it states that Flex users should take the SDK version without the compiler. BUT....
    the http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-builder/kb/overlay-air-sdk-flash-builder.html page says to download the SDK from
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/asc2.html
    but this page now redirects to:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/archived-air-sdk-version.html
    which contains a large list of archived SDK's. So that help page never really says which version of the SDK to use - with or without the compiler. But other forum posts have implied its suppose to be the one with the compiler.
    Now since we're overlaying the ...plugins\com.adobe.flash.compiler_4.7.0.349722\AIRSDK folder that would make sense.
    But now there's a second overlay instructions page at:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/how-overlay-air-sdk-flex-sdk.html
    with different instructions.
    So my questions are:
       Which overlay instructions are we really suppose to use?
       Which version of the AIR SDK (with or with-out compiler) are we suppose to use?
       What does the Flex Library Project properties -> Flex Library Compiler -> 'Include Adobe AIR libraries' checkbox really do?
            If I've followed the (first) overlay instructions above, does this checkbox now mean I'm using the overlaid AIR SDK 3.6
            with the current Flex SDK I've chosen?
            What if I'm using the Apache Flex 4.9.1 SDK? Will the AIR SDK 3.6 overlay that?
                (Doesn't Apache Flex have AIR 3.4 embedded - will this confuse Flash Builder 4.7 ?)
    Is it just me, or is this just getting more and more confusing? Can we perhaps get a AIR SDK combo box to go beside the Flex combo box and when we check the 'Include Adobe AIR libraries' then we can select the AIR SDK we want? And get a 'configure AIR SDKs...' link too? Then perhaps we can get completely away from overlays and all this merged SDK nonsense. I've had nothing but problems with it.
    The real reason I need all this info is because I'm trying to use Flash Builder 4.7 to build an Android ANE and I'm having a devil of a time just trying to find my resources. When I use context.getResourceID() I'm not getting the correct resources - and after reviewing other posts here I came to the conclusion that it might be due to bugs in older AIR SDK's. So really, at the moment I could care less about the latest Flex SDK, I just need to know I'm working from the latest AIR SDK.
    Thanks in advance.

    If you are not using Flash Builder go here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html
    At the bottom it says:
    Note : Flex users will need to download the original AIR SDK without the new compiler. Mac Windows.
    Download the proper one for your OS and then extract it over your existing Flex SDK directory.
    EDIT: Just read your post again and noticed you mentioned Flash Builder. In that case you want to follow these directions: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-builder/kb/overlay-air-sdk-flash-builder.html and grab the version with the compiler at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html

  • Installing Flex SDK into Flash Builder 4.7 problems

    Hi,
    Im completely new to Flash Builder, today I have installed Flash Builder 4.7 & Flash CS6 from Creative Cloud for my son to start to learn game programming (with my help), I have used simple coding in web design however this terminology is new to me.
    I bought my son the latest 'Foundation Game Design with ActionScript 3.0' book on recommendation but it was written when FB was version 4.5 so im guessing this might be the problem.
    The book is very easy to follow but have hit problems at the beginning of the tutorials, the book talks about Flex SDK but it seems that FB 4.7 uses AIR SDK ?
    So the first project called HelloWorld, we got up to:
    Got an exclamation mark which said
    'The import flash.display.Sprite is not used
    locally'
    Continuing with the rest of the project the exclamation mark disappeared:
    However on selecting run- Debug we got a blank Flash Player window  ('generate HTML wrapper file' was deselected)
    So either we've done something wrong, or the book and FB version are not compatible?
    Any advice would be great!
    Thank you
    Latest ...
    I thought that installing Flex SDK may solve the problem but after following instructions I have the error message, see image below. Really stumped now!

    Sorry, if I went a little overboard. After re-reading your post, perhaps I should back up a little.
    First, there are little things that Flash Builder (FB) will complain about. Having extra import statements in your code doesn't hurt anything. If I'm trying different solutions and then commenting out the code, the import statements will hang around, FB will complain, but just ignore it. If you see a little icon on the left edge of your code editor and its a red circle with an X in it, then that is something that will have to be fixed.
    When you create an app in FB or Flash you can choose to create a web app which means it will run in a browser window. The project can optionally create an HTML wrapper, or web page that will load your app. In Flash Pro you can choose File->Publish Settings and there will be a checkbox on the left to publish a HTML wrapper. In FB, you can right click your project in the Package Explorer, select Properties at the bottom, select the ActionScript Compiler, and down at the bottom there will be a checkbox to create a HTML wrapper.
    If you're just learning Flash Builder, then the FlexSDK 4.6 and the AIR SDK 3.1 that comes with it should be fine. You mentioned Apache SDK and I'd recently been working with that so I ended up getting side-tracked.
    Getting an AIRSDK to work with when build ActionScript projects is easy. Just go to the adobe site, type AIR SDK in the search box, and you should find a page that will let you downloaded the latest version. There's also a page to let you download the latest AIR runtime, and if you were just going to run AIR apps and not build them, then that's all you would need. As a developer you'll want to install the runtime from the downloaded .exe file. With the SDK, after downloading it, installing it is easy. Just create a new folder an unzip the SDK into it, then place it somewhere easy to find. I put all my SDK's in their own directory right off the c: drive. So I have c:\AIRSDK_3.5.0.880 and c:\AIRSDK_3.7.0.1530. I use very descriptive folder names so I always know which SDK's I have to work from.
    To use the SDK in Flash Pro select Help -> Manage AIR SDK, hit the plus button and add the folder you created. Now when you've opened a Flash project, you go to File->Publish Settings and select the combo box at the top, you'll see options like 'AIR 3.7.0.1530 for Android' in the list that reflect the SDK's you've added.
    Generally with FB you'll be using a FlexSDK, or perhaps a FlexSDK overlaid with a newer version of AIRSDK. Overlaid basically means you copied the contents of the AIR SDK into the Flex Folder. The article I mentioned above will give you all the details on creating those. For instance, I downloaded the Apache Flex installer, installed it, then created an empty folder called c:\ApacheFlexSDK_4.9.1, launched the Apache installer, gave it the new empty folder I'd created, selected all the download options, and let it all download. If it launches a popup box or a security warning, you can allow it, and it will continue. Once you have the SDK and you want to use it with a project in FB, just right click the project, select Properties, selected that Compiler tab again, and up in the right corner you'll see 'Manage SDK's...'. Hit that link, add your new SDK to the list and give it a descriptive name, then selected the checkbox beside it to set it up as your default. If you do this, then all your projects set to use the default will automatically switch to it and rebuild. So if you want a project to stay with a specific SDK then select that option in your Compiler tab, and then you could use the combo box to select your new added SDK.
    When I started with FB I think I spent the first 2 days going round and round with project settings and options until I got them all figured out.
    When I develop, I usually have my browser open and I have bookmarks and favorites to let me quickly get to all the pages I use most often. Here are a few of them:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/index.html  <---- The API reference. In the packages window check out 'Top Level' at the top and Language Elements near the bottom. I think I have this page open in one or more tabs almost every day.

    Ok, I think I went a little overboard again.

  • AS3 Preloader (without Flex SDK or Flash CS)

    I use FlashBuilder but not the Flex SDK, just pure Actionscript. I have a swf application that is too long to download, so I would like to display a progressbar while the swf is being downloaded from the host.
    My main class is a Sprite. I tried to add a progressEvent.PROGRESS listener on root.loaderInfo in the constructor of my main Sprite, but then a PROGRESS event is fired only when all the swf is downloaded. Useless.
    On a Flex project, you have a Preloader included in the main Application, that displays a progressBar while the application swf is being downloaded from the server and initializing.
    That's what I want.
    Does someone understand how the Flex Preloader works ?
    Do you know how to do that without Flex SDK ?

    Here is the Preloader class :
    public class Preloader extends MovieClip
      public function Preloader()
        super();
        stop();
        if (root && root.loaderInfo)
        root.loaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, initHandler, false, 0, true);
      private function initHandler(e:Event):void
        root.loaderInfo.removeEventListener(Event.INIT, initHandler);
        displayProgressBar();
        root.loaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler, false, 0, true);
        root.loaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler, false, 0, true);
      private function progressHandler(e:ProgressEvent):void
        displayProgressBar(e.bytesLoaded, e.bytesTotal);
      private function completeHandler(e:Event):void
        root.loaderInfo.removeEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler);
        root.loaderInfo.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
        removeProgressBar();
        nextFrame();
        var mainClass:Class = Class(getDefinitionByName("MainApplication"));
        if(mainClass)
          var app:Sprite = new mainClass();
          stage.addChild(app);
        stage.removeChild(this);
      private function displayProgressBar(bytesLoaded:int = -1, bytesTotal:int = -1):void
       // add a progressBar and display the progress
      private function removeProgressBar(bytesLoaded:int = -1, bytesTotal:int = -1):void
       // remove the progressBar

  • Flex 4 Beta 2 and Halo Panels

    Hi all.
    I'm banging my head against a wall here, and wondered if someone else could help me out!
    I'm working on a project which utilises a 3rd party open source control based on Halo Panels. It would take quite a bit of time to re-write this control to be Spark based.
    As part of the project spec, the application must be dynamically skinnable to allow easy customisation. This means the look and feel has been done mostly using embedded images within a CSS file, setting background images and other styles that support images. These can be loaded at runtime, and everyone was happy.
    Attached is a screenshot called Flex3Screenshot. This shows the look that was desired in the app : "Glossy" panel headers and a light border around the panel.
    Then, it was decided that we should be using Flex 4 Beta 2, not the previous 3.4 SDK. (The version I'm using is the standard vanilla 4.0.0.10485)
    Mostly, the transition has been OK. I've changed many controls from Halo to Spark as appropriate, but this wasn't possible with the Goozo controls, so we've had to stick with Halo panels as the containers.
    I'm now trying to bring back the old "dark" look and feel, and this is where I'm having trouble!
    I've attached a massively cut-down FlexBuilder project with a simple style sheet, a single glossy title bar image, and an MXML app with a panel in it.
    No matter what I do, I can't get the CSS to work in the same way, because the panel always has a 2 pixel wide border underneath its header. This border is made up of the panels base header colour which has the bitmap put over the top, leaving a small gap.
    I can "remove" this, by setting the baseColor property to black, but the baseColor property seems to override the borderColor property, so I don't have borders any more, which "Isn't What We Want"(tm).
    Setting the headerColors doesn't seem to work in Flex 4 (I've checked, and it works fine in Flex 3, and if it worked, I could spoof the glossy look by just setting a white to black gradient in the header colours), or set the header colour to black and overlay the image.
    I can use the nasty kludge of -theme=${flexlib}/themes/Halo/halo.swc in the command line properties, but that's like admitting defeat! (and I can't guarantee that it will always work!)
    Does anyone have any ideas? As far as I'm aware, I should be able to create an MXML skin component (as per http://blog.flexexamples.com/2009/05/02/changing-the-title-bar-background-fill-on-a-spark- panel-container-in-flex-gumbo/), but as far as I know, I won't then be able to dynamically skin it with a CSS file.
    Many thanks.
    Pete

    Hi,
    Unfortunately this doesn't have anything to do with the FlexUnit code itself. These are bugs inside of the Flash Builder plugin. You may want to post on their forum as well to try to get some support.
    The only advice I can offer, is that things seem to work much better if I consistently use the Execute FlexUnit Tests, which can be found under the run button. They work much less well if I right click and tell it to execute tests.
    Mike
