Floating Text Inside Text

QUESTION: What is the best way to float a box of text inside
a paragraph of text, such that the floated text does not appear at
the top of the containing paragraph?
BACKGROUND
1) I know how how to float a captioned image with a floated
<p> tag at the top of a paragraph (see
http://homepage.mac.com/moogoonghwa/practice/CSS/floatedImageInParagraph.html),
and
2) I know how to float a letter inside a <span> or HTML
semantic tag at the top of a paragraph of text (see
http://homepage.mac.com/moogoonghwa/practice/CSS/firstLetterOfParagraph.html).
This time I would like to float a paragraph of text inside
another paragraph of text in such a way that it does not appear at
the top of the paragraph. I have considered three possibilities:
The <span> Tag
This option seems preferable because it is inline, and the
floated text would always appear at the same location within the
containing <p> tag. I am concerned, however, that this
approach would limit the ways in which I am able to format the text
inside the <span> tag, Could I put a <p> tag inside a
<span> tag, for example? If I remember correctly, the answer
is no.
The <p> Tag
Using the <p> would insure that the floated text would
always appear at the same location in the flow of the document. It
would also permit to format the "embedded text" in a variety of
ways. Unfortunately, it would necessarily split the containing
paragraph into two paragraphs.
The <div> Tag
Although this tag would permit me to structure the embedded
text in anyway that I desired, I am concerned that it would cause
disruption to the containing paragraph of text similar to that of
an inserted [p] tag.

I'm having a hard time visualizing what you want. Would it be
something
like this?
11111111111111
11111222221111
11111222221111
11111222221111
11111111111111
Where 1 and 2 are the two paragraph contents? If so, then you
can't really
do that in HTML/CSS.

  • Linking Floating Text Boxes in Pages - What Happened?

A year ago, I prepared various documents (i.e., newsletter and book-type document) in Pages.  I was able to link floating text boxes.  A month ago, I got a message after opening my last year's newsletter indicating that the links to the boxes had been broken when I opened the document.  In addition, the command  disappeared from the command box.  I found instructions in the Apple website, but these referred me back to the command that no longer exists in the command box.
I remembered that when I switched from Windows to Apple in 2009, I was impressed that I did not need a publishing software to prepare my newsletter.  I was able to do everything I needed with Pages.  I am wondering whether Apple decided to change the versatility of Pages and add a publishing software.
Can anyone help me?  I really hope that Apple did not destroy Pages' versatility.  However, I have learned that adaptation is the name of the game.  Therefore, I will do whatever needs to be done.  I just need to know what to do.  Thanks for helping!

I think you want to create a Layer in which you can size and
    move to
    desired position.

  • Floating Text Objects Bound to Fields

    Hello!
I have several floating text objects bound to corresponding fields (text and numeric) and they work fine... expect when I hide the fields and then the bound text in the floating text objects also disappears.
    Did I miss a step?
    Thank you!
    Nicolle

I'm attempting to do something similar with floating fields in a form letter.  I have set up my form naming the text and floating fields the same, and set the binding to Global.  When I enter text in the "Company_Name" field, which has the java script "xfa.layout.relayout();"in the Exit action, the Company_Name value does not appear where I placed the "Company_Name" floating field in the text block on the same screen.  If I un-hide the floating field, the value is displayed in a text field at the top left corner of the page.
Here's the link to the form:  Dropbox - Non-Disclosure and Non-Compete Agreement - LC Original.pdf
Any ideas on how I can get this to work properly?  I have a bunch of similar forms that I have to do.
These screen shots are for the floating field used in the text box.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,

  • Floating Text Frame?

I want to place a three column text frame inside of the main text frame so that the three column frame floats as the amount of copy above it is reduced or expanded. How can I do this?
    Thanks!

Perhaps you rally want a table, but in case you don't, make your three column frame, cut, and paste into the text where you want it.

  • How to I create floating text boxes in Pages 5.2 (there is no inspector setting)

In previous pages you could have several text boxes "floating" using the inspector tool. In pages 5.2 I can seem to have two text boxes layered without one of them becoming invisible. I have looked through all the settings I can find. Has anyone else out there figured this out? It is a must for newsletters and such!

When layered do you want the text box underneath to be visible or invisible in the parts that overlap?

  • Floating text Question

How I can make the fields belowName_Country) to be floating
    I, {FloatingField:Name}, am form {floatingField:country} .......
    Thank you

    Hi,
FloatingFields are placed with "Text" objects--not Text Fields. Double click on the text object then and place the cursor in the text where you want the floatingField. Now, click "Insert" up on the menu bar--then click Floating Field. That's all there is to it.
    Good luck!
    Stephen.

  • Floating elements inside a PanelWidget

    Hi,
I have a PanelWidget with 4 text edit boxes in it. They're currently aligned next to each other:
    [t.e.b.1][t.e.b.2][t.e.b.3][t.e.b.4]
Now, if I resize the panel and shrink it more.. can I make t.e.b.4 float below t.e.b.1? Is that possible to do? I thought the panel widget resource would have an attribute to denote floating but then i couldn't find it in the panel resource attributes.
    Ideas?
    Thanks!

You can handle such things in your own panel boss.
Overload the IControlView::Resize and eventually ConstrainDimensions.
Base implementations are in PanelView.h or ErasablePanelView.h

  • Floating photos inside a box...how do they do this?

    Hi
Below is a link to a page on the BBC web site.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-15368276
As you hover the mouse over the photos they shift around, the selected photo becomes colour while the rest turn monochrome.
Would love to know how do they do this so that I can recreate it.
Any info or links to pages with instructions to get me started would be much appreciated.

  • Text box in pages has blue tabs - how to undo these?  and what is 'floating

how can i get the blue tabs to go away? what is floating text?
    deb

You can use Shapes to write in but then you have to change the fill and line colour. The text boxes blue tabs doesn't show when printing and there are for letting text flow. you can have one box on pages 1 and connect it to a text box on page for and the text will flow over to the box on page 4 if there is enough text. Just like in the magazines, more folloews on page 4.

  • Cant center my navigation text at the bottom of the page

I am trying to center the navigation text as the bottom of my page but I can't seem to do it without centering all the rest of my content. I am not sure how to isolate the navigation text. I tried highlighting the text and making a new rule, I tried both ID and class but it did not center the text. If I use html I can center the text but it also centers the rest of the content. Do I have to place the text in a div?  Also beneather the navigation text is a rule (horizontal line) and a copyright line that I also want to center as well. I plan on reusing this grouping of navigation text, horizontal rule, and copyright text on all my pages as a footer. I have included the html & css code below. Thanks Dan

  • How to use rich text?

    Hi All,
I want dynamically to output in adobe print form some fields from a table in this way.
    Description:<b>Text1</b>
    <b>text2 text3</b>
    Description2:<b>Text2</b>
    Description3: <b>Text3</b>
I want to use rich text but it does not work for me .
    Could anybody help me ?
    I appreciate any help.
    Regards,
    Ari

I think you have to use floating filed.
<i>Click inside the Static Text object in which you want to place the floating Text Field object.
Place your cursor on the line where you want Designer to insert the floating Text Field object.
Select Insert > Floating Field( from designer memu).
To set the properties of the Floating Field, click the Floating Field marker inside the Static Text object, and then select options as needed. It is good practice to rename the floating Text Field object and specify the necessary binding.</i>
in your case you have use 2 fileds , 1 for description , 1 for text.for 2nd field make bold in the properties.
static text, description and text fields should be in subform.
Inside static text filed, after binding it will appera as below.
