FM to  create LOCAL PRODUCT Categories!

Hi,
We are running on  SRM 5.0(standalone scenario). Can anyone pls tell me any FM which can be used to create Local product categories as we do it  in transcn COMM_HIERARCHY??
BR,
SRM Tech.

Hi,
Product categories are created via relationships, not sure you can achive with one single FM. you need to read program stack of COMM_HIERARCHY to achive this.
This is challenging requirement though, But try these FM's.

  • Multiple Local Product Categories for One ECC Material Group

    Hello experts,
I have a question regarding Product Categories. I am using an Extended Classic Scenario and so, I retrieve Material Groups from the backend. Nevertheless, in order to have a more accurate split than ECC Material Groups in SRM, I would like to create local Product Categories which point on the same ECC Material Group. Eg. :
    ECC Material Group
      - SRM Product Category 1
      - SRM Product Category 2
I saw that I can create this kind of structure in COMM_HIERARCHY and I updated it in the PPOMA_BBP (I set * for backend and for SRM).
Nevertheless, when I create a SC, I can not find the local Product Categories I created?
Do you know how I could process?
    Thanks for your help
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,
Looks like you got confused in understanding the concept.
You can not create a Local product category (material group) from a back end product category.
You can have both backend R/3 material groups and local product categoris (material groups) parallelly.
That means in COMM_HIERARCHY for R3MATCLASS hierarchy you have two nodes created under that, one for backend material groups and the other for local material groups.
In stand alone scenario or de-coupled scenario you can use local product categories and not in Extended classic and Classic scenarios.
For accessing a local product category you should have a local P.Org, local P.Group and the users should be assigned to these local P.Orgs or P.groups.
If you have such a setting in your org. structure then you can create S.Cs for local Product categories and local materials.
Hope this makes you more clear in understanding the issue.
    Clarifications are welcome.

  • Local Product categories

    Hi experts
I will have 4 backends assigened to 1 SRM, I need replicate material from all backends and work with then in a corporative view, IF i create local product categoriies with the same numbers as of backends and then execute midleware for materials it will be automatically assigned to my local product categories?
    Someone have a similar scenario
    Thanks
    Nilson

if it is one to one . no problem . your trick works .
but you can use SRM only do DESCRIBE procurement only and catalogs.
but i dont know about 4 backe ends.
yes. you can upload product category from SRM which is equivalent to ECC product category.

  • External Requirements and local Product Categories

    Hi all,
    please could you assist:
We are running SRM 7 with several ECC backends in ECS.
We would like to transfer ext. requirement from one backend to SRM (via BBP_EXTREQ_TRANSFER).
    No problems so far.
    Prerequisites:
Product categories should only be maintained local in SRM (no r3MATCLASS).
    Idea for Solution:
Use of BADI PRODUCT_CUSTOMER2 and BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI to use the internal product category for replicated materials and for the Inbound external requirements
    Questions:
If we now transfer an external requirement from ECC to SRM (including a product), how does SRM behave (STANDARD)?
Is it mandatory to obtain the replicated product in SRM including the backend product category?
That would mean, we have to replicate the product categories from ECC as well and could not map the incoming requirements to "our" SRM interlanl product categories?
Any experience concerning standard SRM checks for external requirements?
    Thanks and best regards
    Andreas

    Problem solved
We have just mantained local product categories.
Replicated products (from ERP) are automatically switched to these local categories

  • How do we bring local product categories inside sourcing...

    Hi all,
We are trying to bring the local products, where we can select in the Category ID SPRO...Define Sourcing for product categories. Please let me know how to do...
We are using SRM 4.0 server 5.0 and SP 8
    regards,
    Bert

    Bert,
You can assign only one product hierarchy at a time to purchasing application.
Are you maintaining local & replicated categories into the same product category hierarchy ?
If yes, you should find them in "Defining Sourcing for product categories" (if you select the correct source system = EBP, as I replied before).
If no, you have to choose which one to work with. his one and only this one will be available in SRM procurement flows (attributes, customizing...).
Check customizing point "Assign Hierarchies to Applications".

  • Create new product categories

    Hi,
    We have a SRM3.0  system,
I need to create 10 new product categories in the system.
    Where can i create them.
    Thanks & Regards
    R.M.

    Hi Kam,
You can assign the GL account to the product category, but you have to create the product category first by manually(TCODE: COMM_HIERARCHY) or by replicating from ERP, and then assign the GL account to the product category in SRM(SPRO -> SAP Supplier Relationship Management -> SRM Server -> Cross-Application Basic Settings -> Account Assignment).

  • How do we replicate product categories from SRM/ECC in to SUS system

How do we replicate product categories from SRM/ECC in to SUS system  in srm 7.0

    Hi Gopal,
Are you confused between SUS & ROS? If you meant ROS, it is advised to create local product categories in ROS under COMM_HIERARCHY.
Let us know your exact requirements.

  • I am getting an error message while replicating the product categories

    Hi SRM Gurus,
We are presently using SRM 4.0 stand-alone scenario. My client want certain product categories to go for ECS scenario. In the process of journey of configuration. I am stuck with the Product category replication. And I am getting an error message 'Import of material groups into hierarchy HIERARCHY' in the Inbound queue of SRM.
We have one Hierarchy for local product categories. Do I need to create new Hierarchy for the R/3 Product categories?
Can you please give me some pointers regarding this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Ram

    Hi Sridhar,
I did all the confihuration steps for CRM middleware set up. I am replicating only Product categories through T.Code R3AS. When I check in the inbox of SRM through SMQ2, I am getting the error message Import of materail group into hierarchy HIERARCHY. Because we are already using the local product categories for stand-alone scenario. So do i need to create one more hierarchy for the product categories coming from R/3. Or else do I need to configure some settings for that.
Can you please let me know.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Unable to create Local PO's in SRM

    Hi,
Earlier, we working with Classic and Local scenerio's. Now we activated Extended classic for certain product categories.
Issue: we unable to create Local PO's - we getting error message that
1.Account system (SRM) differ than target system (R/3)
2.Sytem asking us to enter Plant .However, if we enter the plant , getting another error message that material not maintained in the plant (R/3).
It seems ,eventhough it is Local category system promting as a backend proct category.
    Could you help us?
    Harish

    Hi Harish
You can create a local PO for local product categorybut that same material group must exist in r/3 system  which you created in SRM.
there are some instances , for eg.
001- material group in r/3 same you can create 001 product category in srm .
but wherever you mentioned product category originated logical system as SR logical system.
for eg define product category settings source system as Local SRM logical system and target system as r/3 backend system.
    hope you understand.
Try for product category dont try for product . (only special request.)

  • Report to pull multiple Product Categories/Organizational Units per project

    Hi Experts,
We are facing the following issue.
We have created a Project and have associated multiple Product Category & Organization to this project, many to One relationship. This we have achieved through customization. When we are pulling report for this project through Reports-> Project Summary Extract. Itu2019s giving us only one Product Category & one Org Unit per Project. The business wants us to pull all the Org Units & the Product categories associated with the Project, when we are displaying the report. This org units & product categories will be shown in Org Unit & Product category columns respectively separated by commas.
    Looking forward for your help.
    Thanks,
    Ritik

    Hi Vikram,
We have not created any custom fields neither for the Product Categories nor for the Org Unit/Business Unit(T1.BUSINESS_UNIT_OBJECT_NAME). These two fields are already there in the Result fields for the report Project Summary Extract . I am just looking for some way to pull all the Product categories & Business Units associated with the project  in the Product Categories column & in Business Unit column respectively separated by comma or show it as in example 2 given below(in multi rows).
    e.g. 1:
    Project:     Product Categories:
    PROJ1   ->  PC1,PC2,PC3
    Or
    e.g. 2:
    Project:      Product Categories:
    PROJ1        ->                           PC1
    PROJ1     ->                    PC2
    PROJ1     ->                             PC3
I have already copied the existing query & modified it to achieve the above, but still this is not working. Currently i am querying FCI_MAS_INTERNAL_CAT for Product Categories & FCI_PRO_PROJECTS for projects.
Can you please provide me any sample query to achieve this functionality. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ritik

  • How to create a product in Standalone CRM System?

    Hi All,
I am new to SAP-CRM and I got a problem while creating a product (without downloading from R/3) using hierarchies.
First I  created attributes, set types and assigned to categories and hierarchies.
After this step when I tried to create a product using T-Code COMMPRO1  I could not found my category id in the list.
I rechecked wthether I created hierarchy correctly or not and also created other hierarchy but could not see any category id in  T-code COMMPRO1.
I think I am missing some steps here, can any one please help me.
    I will reward with points.
    Thanks,
    Madhavi

    Hi Madhavi,
You also need to assign the hierarchy to the application Product in Tcode: COMM_PRAPPLCAT.
    There we have two settings,
    1. Assign hierarchy to application.
Make a new entry. Choose application Product and assign the hierarchy you
       have created.
    2. Assign hierarchy to product type.
In case you wish to have a separate hierarchy for each product type ( Material,
Service, Warranty etc) than use this setting.
Make new entry. Choose a product type and assign hierarchy to it.
Wish the information is useful. If it helps, do reward with points.

  • Cannot see list of Product Categories in Shopping Cart entry screen

    Hi All,
I would appreciate it if someone could help me with this issue.
Although I appear to have sucessfully replicated the backend R3 Mat Groups into SRM Product Categories, as I can see them in the hierachy screen, i.e. Hierachy ID R3MATCLASS in trans code COMM_HIERARCHY, they are not appearing in my Shopping Cart entry screen Product Categories drop down.
I have looked in Org structure maintanance and can see two things that may be the root causes:
    (a) In 'Exended Attributes', if I select the Source System, I do not get the option to list the product categories in the match code box
(b). In the 'check' screem, the system is displaying the message 'Attribute ITS_DEST not yet defined'
Any feedback on how I can pull in the groups during cart entry would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Kathirvel,
I am not sure if this workaround is correct, but rather than using trans code BDLS as you suggested, I defined the logical system 'ABC' . This logical system was the assigned as a target system in 'Assignment of Logical Systems' under the product category customisation (table COMV_LOGSYS_MAP)
These changes subsequently allowed the drop down on the Org structure when selecting a Product Category in extended attributes, therefore making the list available in the web front end.
The IMG help text for COMV_LOGSYS_MAP says:
    Case 1
You have created the categories in your test system. They therefore have the logical system <SYSTEM_TEST>. So that the categories can also be changed once they have been transported into the production system, the categories must have the logical system <SYSTEM_PROD> in the target system.
    Maintain the following entry:
    Source <SYSTEM_TEST>
    Target <SYSTEM_PROD>
The logical system of the categories will be changed from <SYSTEM_TEST> to <SYSTEM_PROD>.
This appears to have resolved the issue. I would be interested to hear what you think,
    Many thanks , Steve,
