FOC materials booking and consumption w/o charge

Dear Experts,
There are some free of charge materials need to be booked into stock. There are existing material numbers in SAP (with SP and MAP u2013 due to previous purchases), but we need that FOC batch to be booked in and separated in the system with zero value to avoid part expense booking when consuming them from stock to cost centre with movement 201.
We tried to book FOC batch into vendor consignment stock with movement 511 (special stock K), but it is not supported and allowed. Do you have any ideas how to manage this issue?
Many Thanks
zvas_hu

Hi,
How can we set different valuation types for the same material number? What other settings are required in MM?
We need both valuated (normal purchase) and non-valuated batches (FOC) to be booked into stock under the same material number. Do we need to book into vendor consignment stock (K) the non-valuated batch? Which field and needs to be selected in ME21N to set valuation type?
How we can select non-valuated batches when booking from stock to cost centre with movement 201?
Thanks
zvas

It's either a power adapter issue (not likely) or (more likely) a power supply problem on your MBP. Take the machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them diagnose the problem.
    Good luck,

My MBP has been running solely on power adapter for months, I finally bought a replacement battery for my MBP 15" and installed it to charge yesterday. The light on my adapter never turned green. And when I went to unplug it, it immediately powered down, even thought it showed 15% power on the screen. When I press the silver button on the battery all five light up green. What am I doing wrong here?? Also, even if the new battery is in the computer and my power adapter is in the computer still powers down. What next??

I hope the warranty on your junk battery will be honored. You wouldn't be the first person to be victimized by the sellers of such junk batteries, many of whom have failed to honor their so-called warranties or been completely untraceable when push came to shove.

  • Follow-up question on BOM production and consumption of same item

Awhile back, I asked the question about whether it made sense to have a BOM structured to simultaneously produce and consume an item.  BOM that needs to produce and consume same component
Thanks for the help and it does what I thought it should.  We have a local difference of opinion on the consumption of primary components, though.  To attempt to ensure that we account for the bleed-off of materials into a vacuum system, we set up a BOM like this
    Material A    498.379
    Material B    332.253
    Material C     14.914
    Material D     22.371
    Material E     64.317
    Material F    103.570
Material F     -35.804  (This is the quantity vacuumed away, treated as by-product.)
to cover a recipe card structured like this
    Material A    481.150
    Material B    320.775
    Material C     14.400
    Material D     21.600
    Material E     62.100
    Material F     100.00
The difference of opinion is whether to recognize the reclaimed material (Material F) at all on the BOM, with a minority saying that we will not consume (and therefore not order) enough of materials A through E.  They say that "you have to put the same amount of good ingredients in as you produce because it's a closed loop system".
So the other approach would be a BOM like this
    Material A    534.252
    Material B    357.852
    Material C     15.840
    Material D     23.760
    Material E     68.310
The  material reclaimed (Material F) is sourced not only from this particular vacuum system, but from other vacuum systems outside the blending operation.
It seems to me that the first approach is correct, because we recognize consumption and production of the reclaimed item, and proportionately increase the component items to recognize that more are needed than will go out as good product.  Even the reclaim becomes reclaim.  The amounts vacuumed off seem to be consistent at 3.57%.
    Which approach is correct?

Thank you for the reply.  The reclaimed material can be as much as 11% of the total material made.  Last year, over one million kilograms were worked back into the product as reclaim, and the metals are somewhat expensive (not like precious metals, but they are not trivial, either).
Accuracy versus precision is always something to consider, but I think it's important enough to follow, especially because it is sourced from several processes.  The sourcing from the other sources means that the reclaimed material from those sources has already been reported as production of the primary product which consumes the virgin materials, so I think it should be re-introduced into the flow as a separate item (Material F)
The primary argument I want to settle is the business about how we won't order enough component materials if we use the BOM that shows simultaneous production and consumption.  I think under the approach in which we ignore the reclaim, we will consume more components from the backflush location than we physically use and would then order too much material because of using a BOM that pulls only virgin materials.

  • An iPhone Burned My Girlfriend... And Now Will Not Charge/Sync

So last week my girlfriend's iPhone 3gs did something new. She had just plugged it into the charger - the one that came with the phone when she purchased it - and plugged the charger into a wall outlet. My iPhone charger occupied the other socket. Within about 60 seconds, she noticed that the phone was getting extremely hot to the touch toward the bottom where the charger is. Then the burning smell started, so she immediately unplugged the phone. The end of the charger cable was actually hot enough to burn her skin and leave a scar where it touched her arm. When we looked at the port on the bottom of the phone, there were scorch marks on the contacts for the cable.
My phone was fine, we unplugged both cables and plugged them back in, then plugged her cable into my phone. It functioned perfectly. We plugged my cable into her phone and it said "this charging device is not supported." We tried some other cables we had from her old iPhone and our iPods, same thing. The issue was definitely related to her phone.
In the morning she called the local Apple store to make an appt. at the "genius bar." The guy on the phone listened to the issue, then said (in the most obnoxiously condescending douche voice possible) "Ma'am this could NOT be a problem with your phone but I guess if you want you can bring it in Friday and 4:30 and I will try to fit you in." Mind you, this was LAST TUESDAY so we know he is probably booked solid til then with people who have problems with their brand-new iPhone 4. Last night, on a whim, I decided to take her through all the troubleshooting steps they will go through and ask her if she did so they can send her away without resolving her problem.
I plugged the phone into my computer. Wasn't recognized by either device. I swapped cables, tried again, no dice. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in a few times and for a split second it said "sync in progress" so I wiggled the cable and held it in at an odd angle and finally got it to sync up. I backed up all her data first, then I tried to restore it per Apple's troubleshooting docs. It would not maintain connection long enough to restore. I tried to update it to OS4, also no connection. My phone worked fine on the same cable in the same slot. I had a nagging idea in my head Apple would still try to f* her over, so we registered her on their support site. It initially told us her hardware was no longer covered unless it was a "manufacturer's defect." Well, of course this is a defect! So I selected the exception and had a tech support rep call us.
She was polite but seemed like she knew nothing about what she was doing. Her first idea was for us to pay Apple $29.99 to cover the device, so we explained this is a manufacturer's defect and it should be covered for free. She had already heard the story once but we repeated it for emphasis that it was in fact the iPhone itself. She said, "Oh well it COULDN'T be the iPhone!" and suggested we restore it. I had just gotten done telling her that no computer would recognize that specific phone, so I asked her how she recommended we restore it. She read through her list of scripted responses, then told us to take it to an Apple store, but they "probably wouldn't be able to help us since it doesn't sound like the phone was the problem."
Now I KNOW that Apple told its support employees to DENY DENY DENY all responsibility for issues with their hardware, the memo was leaked and published all over the place recently. But this is just ********. It's not even like we have an iPhone 4 and they can't afford to swap it for us... they have TONS of leftover 3gs's that nobody is going to buy. But still, we get screwed by their ****-poor customer service AGAIN.
So, I decided to make everyone aware of this issue in case they were wondering how Apple is treating their customers. I am no overzealous fanboy, I do happen to like my iPhone 3gs when it has service... It has provided the least number of headaches out of all the phones I have owned and tried recently. It's a grudging concession though, as I have had no small number of problems with their products before. But back then, when my 6th iPod died the same way as the other 5 before it, even a year out of the warranty, they would just send me a box to return it and a new iPod no questions asked.
I will update with results of our visit to the Apple store if I get to go with her.
Anyone else had a similar problem or experience that can lend some info on how to deal with the "Genius" at the Apple store, or Apple support in general?

Can I ask you a personal question? Why do a certain "faction" of Apple users and supporters eschew logic and accountability in favor of a fanatical level of worship toward the company and its products?
You say that is how it has "always been," yet I remember an Apple that replaced 6 (SIX!) of my iPods for the same design fault without so much as asking me a single question before sending a box.
You say all manufacturers do this, however Samsung replaced my phone with a revised design of the same model when they realized that the battery cover was defective. Nokia did the same with theirs for various software problems. Twice, as a matter of fact.
I have spoken to other Apple customers (via relating this story to other groups on the internet) who had their iPhones replaced for less than this. I guess it's no surprise that I would get this type of response on a board maintained by Apple; I somehow expected that if the company STILL can't take responsibility for flaws in the basic design of the iPhone 4 - verified by several independent tests that provide irrefutable evidence - I wouldn't be able to receive anything of value from its representatives or various hangers-on that make up what I suspect to be a large percentage of this forum's membership.
I don't want to hear "the company is always right" mantra, I want someone not plugged into the Cupertino Matrix, so to speak, to offer some insight on what I might be able to do to make the "genius" behind the counter forgo the whole "anti-customer service" attitude that Apple instills in its employees through memos and threats of termination these days and DO HIS JOB, which by my definition is ASSISTING THE CUSTOMER WITH A PIECE OF DEFECTIVE HARDWARE. I would be surprised if he were even able to go beyond plugging it into his test rig *one time* before handing it back and suggesting we buy a replacement or upgrade to the new model as he has been programmed to do.
Seriously, what is the password, secret handshake, the wink and nod required to cut through the facade - aside from spending what I originally paid a second time? Or is there nothing substantive behind it for you people anymore?
I LOVE my iPhone, I really do. The only gripe I have EVER had with it is related to AT&T service problems. I upgraded to iOS4 on the launch date, I enjoy the apps, the fast web browsing, the relative ease of use... I will wait for the revised model of the new iPhone to come out (still waiting for Apple to acknowledge THEIR problems first), but Apple WILL get my money. I could be one of you, I just feel like I want to retain my objectivity instead of being lobotomized and becoming a brand-slave.

  • Why is it that Apple have no interest in helping I have a iPhone 4S and since updating to ISO 7.0.4 I have no wifi at all told me it's a hardware issue and I will be charged for the repair sick of it what a scam

Why is it that Apple have no interest in helping I have a iPhone 4S and since updating to ISO 7.0.4 I have no wifi at all told me it's a hardware issue and I will be charged for the repair as it's just over a yr old so I've got a 24 month contract so 12 months with a phone that is not working right I have read loads of other people that have the same problem so how can they put it down to the phone and when asked where to take it was told to google it not happy at all apple u need to sort it out never again am I buying anything for yourselfs again DISTGUSTED would be an understatement

No joy at all they just keep saying it's the phone but was fine before update and @metasolaray why should I pay for extra cover when the fault is not the phone but the update they have put out for everyone to install and I am far from being the only person as there is hundreds of people going through the same with this update and it's not been the first time they messed it up

Apple should take resonsibility for this, otherwise they will lose lots of loyal customers. I have moved away from the ipad due to expense and am now very tempted to do so away from the iphone. Selling a product that prompts an update that breaks the phone is not good.

Have had the same issues with iPhone 4S since the upgrade.  No wifi button, battery draining every 8 hours with no use, phone shutting on & off for no reason at all.  I gave in and tried the hair dryer method.  Turned the phone off and hel d the dryer over the camera lense area for one minute.  Turned the phone back on and to my shock, had wifi button back again.  That was 2 days ago.  Battery is lasting normal amount of time again and I can use wifi again!  Hopefully this will last.  I know it doesn't work for everyone but it doesn't hurt to try.  Much better than spending the $200 at the Apple store, which by the way, the genius said Apple is aware of the problems but there is nothing they can do.

Having the same issue: iOS 7.0.2 with no WiFi / poor Battery stamina and really slow software experience when opening several options at Settings icon.
Apple care agent contacted me and we try all alternatives to isolate and detect if this is regarding a hardware problem. Of course they told me it is. Too sad. My phone is in immaculate condition.
My mother has an Iphone, my father has an Iphone, my 2 sisters have Iphones, my brother, wife and daugther... we all have Iphones. Mine's the only one with this fault (my personal experience: fail prob is 12,5% -1 out of 8).
At this point, I'm evaluating to stop buying apple products for fear that in the future the same will happen with some "premium" product that ultimately they are not.
Too sad, sorry but this is too much.

I got my 4s in August 2012, as an upgrade on my Vodafone contract Following the installation of IOS 7 I also experienced greying out of wifi and bluetooth. I tried various options suggested on forums however none worked. I took my phone to Vodafone who told me it was a problem they were aware of but couldn't do anything about as Apple had to deal with it. I took it to my nearest Apple store (60 miles round trip!) to be told it was not their responsibility, it was Vodafone's - something to do with consumer law! They also said I would have to pay £160 for a replacement phone as it couldn't be repaired. The 'Genius' was very cagey about it being a common problem by the way!! Back to Vodafone who said it was not their responsibility so back to Apple. This time I spoke with a Manager who told me in not so many words that it was an issue and agreed to halve the replacement cost of £160 to £80. By this time I just wanted it sorted to reluctantly paid £80 for a replacment phone. Seeing as this is CLEARLY a design fault, Apple should have replaced it free of charge. This experience just confirms what I am reading in lots of places about the Apple Company. I was going to buy an iPad but have decided not to now. I shall NOT be replacing the iphone when my contract is up. I too will be writing to BBC Watchdog.

You will probably be told that the solution is a replacement phone. Ask to speak to a Manager and insist on getting it at a lower price. I did this and got it at 50% of the usual repacement cost. Still not ideal but at least it saves you a bit of the money you shouldn't have to pay in the first place!

I depend alot on my Iphone and this Wifi greyed out issue is really getting to me!! This caused me to lose some business, but I'm sure I will make up for that in Andriod World. Switching back to andriod should have never switched to apple in the first place.

4s owner in the same boat as everyone else.
I setup a service call with apple on Monday this week and was told it's quite a common hardware failure. When I asked why I should be paying for a new phone I was advised to book an appointment in store. Well I've just returned from my appointment with a "genius" who told me that when the update is installing if any component is weak when installing it will be permanently disabled.  Was then told £150 for a new phone which I declined.
I've had  iPhones for 4 years now but due to this issue and apple washing their hands of any responsibility it will be my last.
Disappointed that a premium product has such poor backup from the manufacturer. If it was only my phone and not thousands of others I'd have probably paid for a new phone but I'll never give apple another penny again.

  • Problems synching iPhone 3Gs with Address Book and Calender

I have an iPhone 3Gs and have begun to notice that information is not being synched between Calender and the phone and Address Book and the phone. I now also have duplicate contacts for all contacts that were in my orginal iPhone before I upgraded. I suspect it has something to do with mobileme (which I don't subscribe to) and I have tried all the various synch options in iTunes. I know people have been having the problem and have solved theirs with the help of mobileme. How can I solve it without subscribing?

Yes I have a similar problem.
I lost all my contacts (today 23rd Mat 2011) on my 3G iPhone and the Address Book on my Mac Pro also.
The contacts in my MS Outlook were intact  I run Outlook:Mac 2011.
They have only just fixed the issue with the Calendar in this version 2 weeks ago an MS issue.
I plugged in the iPhone last night to charge and synch and this morming the phone had no contacts and I had lost all the address Book I had some  group headings  (greyed out)
It's almost like a plot to get Outlook users frustrated and make them switch but, Outlook is too good.
Outlook:mac 2011 contacts does not synch with Mac address book

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • I am creating a book and had 27 pages done manually off of an album, am trying to add 7 more pages and cannot add more pages

I am creating a book and had 27 pages done manually off of an album , I wanted to add more pages but when I try to add a page nothing happens.

Select the book in the left hand sourcd pane and type Command +D (duplicate).  Then do as Keith suggested to turn it into two separate books, i.e one with  1-50 pages and one with 1-57 to get all of the pages included in two about equal books.
The will have to be ordered separately with separate shipping charges.
