Font issues when saving file as a PDF

How can I update my fonts so that I can save the document as a PDF? I get an error message and a separate popup window stating 'The "HelveticaNeueLTStd-BdIt" Font is not available.' I have some cross-referencing issues going on. Can anyone help resolves these?
Thanks

When generating a PDF, what do your PDF settings look like? If you have the "Rely on system fonts only" option selected (see screenshot), you probably do not have the font in question (HelveticaNeueLTStd-Bdlt) installed on your system.
If you are not relying on system fonts (this option is unchecked, which I don't believe is good practice), the font might not be available in FM. I don't know what version of FM you're running, but in FM10, you could try opening your file, and go to View > Pods > Fonts to display all fonts that are currently being used in your document and all instances of each font. Usually all missing fonts are replaced with "Times New Roman", so you can use the font pod to replace those instances with the correct font (if available in FM. Check Format > Font to see what fonts are available).
I would definitely double-check that the font you need is actually installed on your system. I ran into the same problem, and that was my issue.
For the cross-references, you need to provide better information. What is the issue? Are the xrefs not displaying correctly? Are the links going to the wrong place? etc.

  • How to retain font-size when saving filled in form (pdf)

    Hi,
    I have a pdf form from an organization and when I fill in the (text)boxes, the more text I put in there, the font-size will adjust to fit everything in. However, when I save the pdf file and view it in a different pdf reader the font-size is too big and half of the text is not visible.
    Also, the form contains some checkboxes/radiobuttons. When filling in the form they work just fine, but when saved and viewed both the yes and no are checked, even though I only checked one of them.
    Anyone have any idea how I could fix this?
    Thank you in advance
    (using: Acrobat XI 11.0.0)

    Ow.. I don't know the solution yet, but maybe something went wrong earlier with someone else who filled it in partially. I found the original on the internet and that seems to work so far.

  • Annoying error when saving file as a PDF (error ID=54)

    Over the past week or so we have had a error that is driving us nuts. When working in a AI file and trying to save as a PDF we get this error: "Cant save the illustrator file. File may be read only, or the file is in use, or you dont have the required permissions. ID=54". Anyone have a work around? We have to go back to file and re-save every time. Thanks

    Just saving to the computer.
    I dont see how permissions could be a issue since it lets me after save to a PDF after I close the error box and re-save again.

  • When saving files from the internet, why doesn't Firefox 'know' to put .jpg files in "Photos" and pdf files in "Documents"?

    When saving files from the internet, why doesn't Firefox 'know' to put .jpg files in "Photos" and pdf files in "Documents"? IE always saved photos in the "Photos" file and documents in the "Documents" file. Firefox makes me choose every time. Very annoying.

    How about if Firefox is programmed like IE in this ONE thing...
    When saving files from internet sources, if the file ends in a typical photo extension such as .jpg, .bmp, .tif etc. it defaults to save it in your PHOTOS folder.
    When saving anything like a .doc, .pdf etc. it defaults to save it to your DOCUMENTS.
    You could still change it to 'desktop' if that if really where you want all your photos and documents... or some other folder that you decide, but DEFAULTS to the LOGICAL folder.
    I have carpal tunnel SO bad that even typing this suggestion is painful and having to make the extra click along with moving the mouse EVERY time I want to save something is painful.
    ALSO, I shouldn't need a bunch of ADDONS to accomplish this. I tried downloading one and it did nothing. The problem still exists.

  • Preview freezes when saving file.

    I recently upgraded my iMac to Lion Server and have been having issues with saving files using Preview.
    Everytime I Print -> Open PDF in Preview, and try to save, Preview just hangs and I have to do a force quit
    This also happens if I have a pdf opened File ->Duplicate -> Save...

    Another odd behavior that I am experiencing is when I "Right-click" Preview app on the Dock and select "Show all Windows" several PDF's that have been closed are still showing up as opened. I have gone as far as trying to delete all the files in com.apple.Preview.savedState, but this does not fix it.

  • Issues when saving?

    Hi All,
    Is anyone else having issues when saving?
    I normally save to our server and sometimes (if I've had a few heavy files open) CS6 wont save to the server 'due to a program error'. Has anyone else had this?
    This is a pretty big deal for where I work because, although I save locally, I have to have my work files on our main server as well. The easiest way is to save the file straight there once I'm ready. My fear is that CS6 may crash while saving (locally or to the server) and I'll loose the work I've done.
    Aside from that, I've been using CS6 for almost a week and I've found it quite an easy transistion from CS5 so far. Fingers crossed that it'll hold true when I work on more demanding images.
    Cheers.

    I hope you are not using work files for PSCS6beta.....(sincere) please don't. That could cost you in revenue if there's an issue,
    (it may apply) make sure you start a specific CS6beta project to test out it's features...keep all business files away until it's retail....just be safe.

  • Modified Date is off by 5 hours when saving files to External One Touch 4

    Have Googled and searched forums here but can't find an answer anywhere, but please do direct me if I've just missed it...
    I back up files via Linksys wireless server to a Sentry Maxtor One Touch 4 external hard drive (originally used with PC) without problem except for the timestamp. Modified Date is always exactly 5 hours earlier. For example, if I save a file to my Mac desktop and to the external hard drive at 7:05pm, then the desktop file properties will show a modified date of 7:05pm (accurate), but the external hard drive file will show 2:05pm (off by 5 hours).
    Any ideas?

    Thanks for the welcome and your speedy responses, Michael and Joey. Although my technical skills are limited, I'm sure the drive is still NTFS as I did nothing to update it from use with our PC since we still have one of those in the house using the hard drive (unfortunate, I know).
    However, I did just try a cheat with the time setting on the Linksys wireless server. Although I had confirmed it was correct before, it hit me that maybe I could change it to GMT-England and that would result in correct timestamping. It worked! Of course, the PC will probably be off now when saving files, but I haven't checked that yet. Any other issues/problems you think I may encounter by doing this?
    If not, then I can live with the cheat. Thanks again!

  • Photoshop CS6 – Error When Saving Files

    When saving files using Photoshop CS6 I randomly receive an error message that states 'Could not save image_name.tif' because of a program error'. Sometimes a save-as works but not guaranteed. The file is being saved to a mounted server volume and sometimes the only way to get the file on the server is to save to the desktop and then copy the file back to the server. The error message does not appear on any other Adobe applications, just Photoshop.

    Moved from the Creative Cloud to the Photoshop forum. They will be able to help you here.

  • Script to require user to update comments in info window when saving file?

    I work in a print production department where many different people are modifying files (InDesign, photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) on a central network every day. Users copy the file they want to work on to their desktop, modify it, and then replace the original on the network with the modified version.
    It can happen, though, that either someone doesn't save their work back to the network--or the opposite, where someone inadvertently overwrites a file on the network with a version that isn't as recent. Unfortunately, the information window (the one that you can access by right-clicking a file or, in the Finder column view, clicking on the "Get Info" button) doesn't identify the most recent user of a file--just the date created, modified, last opened, etc. When files on the server are incorrect for whatever reason, it can be difficult to figure out what happened. This info can be entered manually in the "Comments" field, but users either forget or are too busy to add that step into their routine.
    Can a script to written that will prompt/require them to add at least their initials, date last changed, and for what reason, in the comments field before saving? It would be ideal if the script could somehow prompt users to do this only when saving files to the network--or, failing that, at least only prompt them once if they're just saving a file they've already dragged to their desktop back to the desktop for backup reasons.
    Is this possible? Truly, I know almost nothing about AppleScript, but someone here was really, really helpful last week with a file-comparison script that has saved lives already. I'm trying to learn more, but meanwhile, I thought I'd ask.
    Thank you so much in advance!

    I can't see any way of doing this.
    It would require hooks into every application's Save dialog, which just isn't an option.
    The only possible way it might work is a folder action on the network folder that somehow adds the username to the comments field of any file as it's transferred to the server. Not quite the same thing, and I've no idea how folder actions work in a multi-user environment but it might be worth a try.
    The problem may be that every users' system will see the new file getting added, so every system tries to fire off the folder action, with unpredictable results.

  • Incompatibility issues when saving BW workbook in early excel versions

    When saving a BW workbooks to my desktop for example so that I can then send it to a user to view the report I get incompatibility issues when saving workbook to earlier excel versions.  I am currently using 2007 and when I save the workbook to Excel 97 - 2003 then I get incompatibility messages.  If I ignore these and just save then no one is able to open the workbook.  This means that I cannot also save workbooks on the reporting system as those users not using 2007 cannot view them. The message that I get is that 'the features of this workbook are not supported by the earlier features of Excel.'

    Hi,
    Please refer to this note,
    Note 1152092 - Error opening MS Excel 2007 workbook in MS Excel 2003
    Usually when you do any formatting feature available in Excel 2007 to the workbook it would throw you the error, not sure if you are formatting the workbook.

  • Can I enable autocomplete when saving files?

    I'm a Mac newbie. One of the Windows features I miss is autocomple when saving files. I tend to work with .jpeg files and name them sequentially, and Windows would help me out by bringing up similar file names. I could then just change the sequence number to make a new file. Is there any way to enable or add this type of feature in 10.6?

    Hi,
    I have done that with the ftp adapter. In the .xsl file I wrote the following after the <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" ....> tag:
    <xsl:variable name="INFILENAME" select="ehdr:getRequestHeader('/fhdr:InboundFTPHeaderType/fhdr:fileName','fhdr=http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/ftp/;')"/>
    <xsl:template match="/">
    <xsl:variable name="OUTFILENAME"
    select="ehdr:setOutboundHeader('/fhdr:OutboundFileHeaderType/fhdr:fileName', $INFILENAME, 'fhdr=http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/file/;')"/>
    <opaque:opaqueElement>
    <xsl:value-of select="/opaque:opaqueElement"/>
    </opaque:opaqueElement>
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    To use this with the file adapter, you would have to wirte file where is written ftp.
    Hope this helps,
    Zaloa

  • File formatting issues when saving PDF as PPTX in Acrobat XI Pro

    Hi guys,
    I have some issues when I'm saving my PDF (initially comming from InDesign) as PPTX. The format is suddenly changing, leaving a blank zone, and some of the pages are rotated.
    Is it a problem comming from the Indesign or from the Acrobat options itself? I have already tried changing the chekboxes in the option box when I'm saving, but nothing worked.
    If someone has an idea how to fix that, i would be very grateful! Thanks in advance

    Which dot version of Acrobat XI are you currently using in your export?  Is the PDF file tagged?  If not, then you may want to tag the PDF file before exporting it.

  • Images Issue when saving an illustrator file as pdf

    Hi,
    I have been suffering these couple of days with the pdfs I save from my illustrator CS5 multi page file. It is a brochure that I designed using many images that I adjusted in Photoshop to CMYK & 300 dpi & embedded in ai. I used some drop shadows for some images & have some transparent vectors & gradient fills in the pages.
    The pdfs I save open very normally on my pc, but the issues appear for the client. He gets some images missing in some pages (the ones that got the gradient transparency). The pages also tend not to load completely & stay blurred. He also got the “drawing error” message.
    I tried to make sure all color modes are the same_ used the US web coated SWOP (default)
    He still gets missing images!
    The same file I sent to a friend of mine, it opened normally! but informed me that Adobe considers the file with “special features”.
    I had to export the pages to jepgs so that he gets to see the design.
    I tried to flatten the gradient transparent vectors but also used the downsampling for the images when saving the pdf & used the “Zip” for compression to reduce the size… what did he get??? no images at all in all the pages.
    I started seeing pdf nighmares last night :S really.
    Please help :’(
    Thanks

    We all have Acrobat Professional reader 7.0.
    I guess he has Windows but tried to open the file from his ipad too.

  • Framemaker 7.0 consistently crashes when saving files as .rtf (and other related issues)

    Thank you first of all for any help from anyone.  Secondly, I apologize for any of my FrameMaker naivety, I am just a beginner with it really.
    I am having a problem when saving out FrameMaker files to rtf format (for eventual conversion to word -- some people just want parts of book in word so they can mess around with it).  Frequently, framemaker crashes and gives me a message such as this below. What can I do to get our documents into word format?
    secondly, when i get them into word format, sometimes I have this problem when paragraph marks are turned on in word -- people that have recieved the word files I send them have complained about this and unfortunately they are people I cannot tell to just turn off the paragraph marks.  Why is that repeated text inserted into the line? It should just say "Removing Constraints" (with no parenthesis marks).  Some of our chapters are very long and manually removing this is not applicable.
    thanks for any help!

    About the {XE xxx} fields in your output file, that's the way FM converts index markers and their content when outputting RTF; FM automatically turns on the display of these fields. I believe it's the same with cross-references and all other kinds of marker output.
    With MIF2Go you can specify what to do with each different type of marker, so you could choose to delete them completely if you wanted, or else to retain the markers but convert them to the correct index references in RTF. Here's the section in the MIF2Go manual about the markers:
    http://www.omsys.com/dcl/usergd/rtfref_0120_5141_generating_an_index_in_word.htm#Xz105x557 827
    http://www.omsys.com/dcl/usergd/rtfref_0119_514_modifying_word_output_after_conversion.htm
    I'm not sure whether MIF2Go has a way to control the actual display of these fields in the RTF or not, or whether that would need to be done by a vbscript after the RTF has been generated.

  • When .ai files are actually PDFs

    So, in an earlier thread today, AI or EPS?, Wade questioned whether .AI files are really PDFs.
    I did a survey just now with Illustrator CS5 (15.0.2) on Mac OSX, on a document with a single letter 'p' (400pt Myriad Pro Regular). Saving in all current and historical Illustrator formats:

    Now, I realize you might not trust the "file" program... If you're not familiar with it, according to the manpage:
    file tests each argument in an attempt to classify it.  There are three sets of tests, performed in this order:  filesystem tests, magic tests, and language tests.  The first test that succeeds causes the file type to be printed.
    But it just does some crude (and not-so-crude) pattern matching.
    You can also run some reports in Acrobat Pro. For instance, running "Report PDF Syntax Issues" produces two identical reports, except the AI version has a Color space section (different uuids, diffrent embedded subset font names, etc.). That's not very helpful.
    Browsing the PDF contents does show some more information. Indeed, half of the file size difference is color space information, though I'm not sure what the other half is:
    There are other subtle differences.
    Convinced yet?

    No one's harmed as we all know this since forever.
    It is wel documented on the forum.
    By not saving it with the pdf option check reduces the size a great deal many users use it to save master files and then do a save as with the option turned on when they place it in another application.
    In case you are not familiar with this option turned off and printed to a postscript printer the file will print properly even if it does not display the right way.
    At least that is my understanding.
