Fonts are degrading in Premiere Pro CC from Photoshop CC

I'm creating some simple text slates for use in a video. I am making them in Photoshop CC as TIF files with a transparent background to overlay onto the video in Premiere Pro CC. In Photoshop they look crisp, and clean around the edges, but when I import the TIF files into Premiere they get pixellated and have jagged edges. The dimensions of the TIF files are 1280x720 which is the same as the video and sequence settings in Premiere Pro.
Are there optimal settings I should be using in Photoshop to ensure best TIF quality in Premiere?
Should I maybe not be using a TIF file at all? PSD?
It is a very clean sans serif font. Nothing crazy. I don't know why this is happening and have tired a lot of things with the render settings etc to try and fix but am getting the same results.
I know in Final Cut the main thing was to ensure RGB color mode VS CMYK but I'm not sure if there are other things at play in Premiere Pro CC.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

How do you typically set your transparency settings? I have them set how I always would.
What I've figured out that this definitely has something to do with the actual TIF file some how. If I use the exact same font at exact same size in Premiere by creating a title it looks crystal clear. This is very strange because I don't think I am doing anything different than usual with the TIF files...

  • Huge Bugs with Many Legs Still Living in Premiere Pro - (Border from Sharpening & Flickering from Adjustment Layer)

I haven't edited video in awhile.  While working on a new project I've run into a bunch of what I suppose are well known issues in Premiere Pro CC 2014.  It seems Adobe has know about these issues for some time, but that for some reason, nothing is being done about them.  Here is my most recent experience with editing a video using PP:
    1. Found that color correction tools in Premiere Pro for setting White Balance Suck for folks who don't edit video 8 hours a day.
Searched on web to find solution find that Adobe has no fix but random humans have found hack solution: White Balance in Premiere Pro CC on Vimeo
The dude shows you how to use the Cyroce Color Neutralizer plugin from After Effects - but sure enough the current version of the plugin that ships with AE CC 2014 doesn't work with premiere any more so you have to download the old version from dude's website here:  http://www.sternfx.com/tutorials/136
    Thanks to the DUDE!
    2. Found out that adding an Adjustment layer can cause flickering in footage.
Searched on web to find solution find that Adobe has no fix but random humans have found hack solution: PP CC 2014 - adjustment layers flickering problem : Adobe Premiere Pro  AND  Re: image flickering from adjustment layer
Added mask to control flickering.  More specifically, I turned each effect in the adjustment layer on and off until I found the particular effect that was causing the flickering.  Then I created a mask in that effect which covered the entire frame.  Mystically the flickering disappeared.  Learned that if you make any changes to adjustment layer effects, flickering will return and you have to delete/recreate the mask once again. Ridiculous.
    3. Thought all was good and that I could now peacefully continue to finish my project.  I was wrong.  Found that adding sharpening in adjustment layer causes a small border to form around the entire frame.  The pixels seem faded or translucent or something.
Searched on web to find solution find that Adobe has no fix but random humans have found hack solution:  Sharpening bug Premiere Pro - - Fourmedia
So now I've learned that the sharpening effect needs to go on it's own adjustment layer.  Awesome.
Flickering returns because I made a change to adjustment layer 1.  Re-mask.  Sweet.
That's it.  Pretty sure this post will help folks out, but man I am going to run out and give another NLE a shot.  None of these operations should be this difficult.  Makes me wonder if Adobe even attempts to use their own programs.  I don't see how anyone could possibly let a huge tool like Premiere Pro suffer from these issues -- and for so long a period of time.  Absolutely ridiculous.  Adobe truly seems to be asleep at the wheel.  This is some amateur crap here.

Thanks for this post. It would be cool (since Adobe doesn't seem to use their products) if there were more posts like this that I could read before I upgrade. I'm having the flickering w adjustment layer problem you mentioned in #2 - and this post is over month old! Aghh

  • Upgrade to Premiere Pro CS6 from my Creative Suite 5 Production Premium

I am trying to upgrade to Premiere Pro CS& from my Creative Suite 5 Production Premium but the Serial Number for my Creative Suite 5 Production Premium is NOT accepted as a valid Serial Number to upgrade from.

You cannot upgrade from a suite to a single product. Also CS5 s/n is not valid for CS6.
You need to buy Premiere CS6 first to get Premiere working.

  • Premiere Pro update from 5.0 to 5.03 fails.

After exhaustedly trying to figure why some clips are substituing for others, I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and then clicked to update.  It goes through the whole bar graph, downloading updates but then says it fails and lists each failure if I click for more details.
On the other hand , if I do the same thing from CS6 Photoshop, then it says only the Premiere Pro ones failed.

Well I was trying to follow up.  First the forum was down for a half day so I couldn't read the post.  Then when I could get on, I followed the link and started with the 5.01 download.
the box asking to open or save went to the bottom of the screen and the windows task bar was blocking the area to click.  Normally this goes away but it didn't the rest of the day.  Is there a way to clear that away?  Also the download box couldn't be moved, so for this simple ridiculous reason, I could proceed no farther.
today I tried again and the taskbar wasn't in the way and I downloaded the 5.01 update and then went to run it and it said I need to register and buy Winzip.  So before I can proceed I need to buy another product?

  • Question on updating Premiere Pro CC from 7.0.0 to 7.2.1

    Hi all.
I'm running Premiere Pro CC 7.0.0 (haven't updated it yet, I've been abroad for a while).
I understand that there have been 4 product updates since then, which are 7.0.1, 7.1, 7.2 and 7.2.1
I can see that all 4 updates are available as 4 individual downloadable files from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=98&platform=Windows
My question is do I have to update the product running those 4 updates one-by-one in their released order ? Or I can just apply the latest one ? (I mean going straight from 7.0.0 to 7.2.1) ? Is that the same thing ? (I mean each update includes the previous ones ?)
    Many thanks in advance !

Thank you very much for your quick response Ann.   So you mean I just download and apply the 7.2.1 update (the latest 297.3 MB file) which already contains in itself all bugs and fixes of all previous 3 updates since my 7.0.0 version, right ? (sorry to ask again, just making sure I got that right)

  • Can't Uninstall Premiere Pro CS4 from Trial-Missing Uninstall file

I was using the Premiere Pro CS4 (CS5 XP compatibility pack) as a free trial on my Windows XP computer. Since my trial period is over, I want to uninstall it. Unfortunately, something seems to be wrong. When I click on "Premiere Pro CS4 and After Effects CS4, 32-bit support for CS5" in my Add or Remove programs list, it says "An error has occured while trying to remove Premiere Pro CS4 and After Effects CS4, 32-bit support for CS5. It may have already been uninstalled. Would you like to remove Premiere Pro CS4 and After Effects CS4, 32-bit support for CS5 from the program list?"
I click No, because going into my Programs Folder, I see that nothing has been removed. I tried using the Clean Up script, choosing CS4 and later CS5, but the clean up program's box said no sessions were found.
After, I looked in the Adobe Premiere folder itself for an uninstall program, but found none.
I cannot even start the program anymore. Starting it, a dialogue box pops up saying
Licensing for this product has stopped working.
This product has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your computer before it can be launched.
If you continue to see this message after restarting your computer, please contact either your IT administrator or Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of the screen.
    Error: 3
As far as I can tell, technical support doesn't come with a free trial, and my trial is expired anyway.
How can I get this program off of my computer now that I cannot use it?

This is the part I suggested you click YES...instead of NO... to see if removing the support then allows you to remove the whole program.. kinda a 2 step process...dont know if it will work or not.
You can call adobe support and explain the problem and they might be able to walk you through some process that works okay.. I would try that even though it may take some time to go through it.
I don't see how trying to reinstall could hurt you but I kinda doubt it will work...but why not try it??
Sorry, but I can't think of anything else ... except messing around with the "install / remove " programs stuff as mentioned above...

  • Some Photoshop layers are offline in Premiere, while others -- from the same .PSD doc, are fine -- how to fix?

I have a simple animation in Premiere that uses imported Photoshop layers, fading each one on at a time over a moving background. Suddenly, today, after months of no problems, I'm seeing that SOME of the layers are offline, while the rest are linked properly. They are all from the same underlying .PSD file. But I can't seem to relink them. Any tips?

I have found in CS5.5 that if I imported a psd in layers, and then later changed one of the layers, I had to reimport and replace the files sometimes.  I haven't figured out why.

I recently upgraded to Premiere Pro CC 2014 from Premiere Pro CC.  I had been working on a project using several video transitions which were no longer available in Premier Pro CC 2104.  I thought maybe they would show up in a later update, but so far I have not seen my video transitions including several zoom transitions and others.  What happened?

  • Can you transfer files in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 from a Mac computer to a PC that also has Adobe

I am looking into buying Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 for my iMac computer, because the guy that I am going to help out is in another state, using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 on his PC, we will both be editing video to be featured on the Pursuit channel.  My question is will we be able to open up each other's video files, seeing that I am on a iMac and he is on a PC if we are both using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5?  Right now I am using Final Cut Pro X, and he can't read my files, the codecs won't work he says.   Please help this is driving me crazy

Yes, project files are cross-platform. There are a few caveats, described here:

  • Lens distortion presets are missing in Premiere Pro CC 7.2.2

Lens distortion removal folder is missing completely. Can anyone suggest how to fix it? Perhaps there is a way to download those presets separately?

Jim, thanks for your reply.  I'm talking about Lens distorition removal forder located in Presets. I believe that they are configs/presets for the Lens Distortion effect located in Distort folder under Video Effects.  By the way, distort effects are available to me, but not the presets.
I've found out about the new presets at Lynda - http://www.lynda.com/Premiere-Pro-tutorials/Removing-GoPro-lens-distortion/126763/169090-4 .html
    So, my question still stands.

  • Can't deactivate premiere pro cs6 from admin user...help??

I am a teacher with a number of seats on my premiere license.  We have upgraded machines and I need to deactivate those machines in order to activate the new ones.  Running in to  a dialogue box on a couple that says I need to deactivate as the admin user.  Trouble is I am in as the admin user when it tells me this.  I read to enable root user but this does not solve the problem either.  Adobe needs a place where I can go and enter a serial number and it will allow me to deactivate machines associated with it.  This is maddening.....
