Hi all.

MenuItemExit.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
                     public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae){
                             System.exit(0);

    Sorry, I was confused by your profile signature showing "GarageBand (Mac) '11".
    It is very similar in the newest GarageBand 10.0.2:
    Enable Audio Units in the GarageBand Preferences > Audio/Midi.
    Create a software instrument track.
    Show the Smart Controls and click the button.
    In the Info panel scroll, to make the Audio Units brick visible and click the "Instrument" control.  Select "AuInstrument > Apple > DLSMusicDevice" and click it, to open the settings.
    This should show you a panel, where you can select a Sound Bank. Does that show your sound font?

  • External Hard Drives and Fonts -- Help!

    I run a Mac OSX laptop, with Boot Camp to run Windows XP Pro. I recently decided to dabble in Photoshop again (trying to design fun wedding invitations). I have Photoshop CS2 for Windows which runs perfectly on my external hard drive. The problem that I have found is that I have no way to use the fonts that Windows has to offer running CS2 from the hard drive. I have limited space on my Windows partition (one reason that I opted to go with CS2 from hard drive regardless of how that affected the speed), so there is no option for running Photoshop from my internal drive. Is there a way to use fonts from Windows from the external drive? Or is there somewhere within the program files for CS2 that I can import fonts to so that I can use them? Thanks for any help that you can give! If more information is needed, just let me know and I'll give you as much as I can.

  • Ugly Fonts Help

    Hi
    I'm having a rough time with getting the font I want using
    DW8. I've built a little website www.carltongreen.com and the text
    is just plain ugly in my estimation. I'm not understanding the
    'css' panel whatsoever. No matter what I try ,I can't get a good
    clean font. I'm looking for a font which is NOT bold--as a matter
    of fact , I'm looking to to have a font very similar to the font in
    this message, but everytime I try to decrease the font weight/size,
    it always ends up looking BOLD and horrible. I'm frustrated beyond
    belief. Can someone please help me get this problem sorted out?
    Thanks

  • Exporting as a PDF with missing fonts - help please?

    Hi,
    I am using Windows In Design CS4 and an agency provided us with a template via Mac OSX.
    Some of the fonts they used appear to be missing on Windows (mainly the ITC bookman family), I open the file anyway. When I export it to a PDF the PDF appears for the most part to be the same, despite the missing fonts.
    My questions are:
         Is the copy now just a closest match chosen by In Design (I think it may be using Bookman Old Style? If not, what is stopping me using font inserted by an external agency?
       Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy the ITC bookman family?
    I appreciate your help; I’m a beginner who has to teach himself!!
    Neil

    Bookman Oldstyle should be a very close match (if that is, indeed, what's getting substituted). I wouldn't bother buying ITC Bookman, unless you have to roundtrip your files with the agency. Substituting fonts and checking line endings would get old fast.
    So you can be sure of what's getting substituted, go to Type > Find Font, find all usages of ITC Bookman and replace them with Bookman Oldstyle. It seems like you have a PDF from the agency, so you can compare a few substitutions and see if anything changed. You should expect line endings in running copy (long paragraphs) to change slightly.
    If you really feel the need to buy ITC Bookman, I would just buy it from ITC (http://www.itcfonts.com/fonts/detail.aspx?PID=201890). Their price is not going to be much different than anyone else's. Check with the agency to make sure they have Type 1 ITC Bookman, not Opentype ITC Bookman, and then buy the same format they have. It's even possible they have a Truetype version. You would want to match it exactly, so you would have to buy the same font that they have, but in PC format instead of Mac format.

  • Font help needed

    I have AI files generated by another user which contain fonts with special characters.  I have received and installed that font, but when I open the documents in AI CS5, the special characters do not display properly.  The font is a TT font generated using Mac, I am using windows.  However, I can use this font in other applications - for example, MsWORD - without any problems. But the special characters WILL NOT display in AI CS5. The regular characters from this font WILL display properly in AI. Help please. Thanks.

    Set a different default language and encoding for "non-Unicode characters" in your system settings.

  • Barcode / font help

    I am using barcodes on a work-order report. We installed demo fonts from ID Automation. I had it working on my client side via preview PDF. When trying on the server side, I am now getting error in the OPP log, as follows:

    My report uses one of the ID Automation fonts for the barcodes and Arial for text.
    According to Tim's blog...
    12. Navigate to Configuration General-> FO Processing->Font Mapping Set.
    Can also be done at data def and template level under Edit Configuration.
    Hierarchy is Site-> Data Def -> Template.
    I am wondering if every font I use in my RTF needs to be defined in the new font mapping set we set up, including Arial or any other fonts? When I view my RTF in notepad, it shows a whole bunch of other fonts, even though I am not using them in my document.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
    We have successfully registered Barcode fonts with the template. For this you need to first add the font file using XML Publisher -> Administrator. Here u need to upload the font file and also set the font name same as the name you have displayed when you open the template on Word.
    After registering the font thru Admin, create a font mapping set / font mapping and assign the same to the template. The font should be assigned in configuration -> FO Processing -> Font Mapping.
    Hope this helps.

  • Dynamic and shared TLF font help in CS5

    I am simply trying to use a special font in Flash CS5 in a dynamic text field. This was so easy to do before CS5. I am not able to embed fonts in CS5 and have them work?
    I am working on a large project and the time to relearn Flash each release, makes it not cost effective use anymore.

    Then don't use the TLF textfields and just use the Classic textfields. They work the same way they used to.
    So details would help. What kind of font? What kind of embedding? and...
    ... what kind of trouble are you having embedding fonts? I haven't done a lot with it, but the bit I have seems to be much more straight forward and easy to do.

  • Pixelated Fonts - Help

    I've been reading through the threads here on text in DVSP and how it's better to import PS for menus. I did a test and it's not looking any better to me. In fact when I simulate it the fonts in DVSP itself looks better. Maybe I'm not creating the layers in PS correctly? I've watched a few demos online. I'm creating DVDs for an event and the buttons and text has to look good. Any suggestions? Would it be better to create something in FC? I don't even know if that's possible. Help..thanks.

    Couple of things in general - you need to make sure that you are creating the proper size menus in Photoshop (you can start with one of the presets, such as DV or DV Widescreen). Make sure to use larger sans-serif fonts and all layers and effects should be rasterized. 20pt plus is a good idea, and sometimes things like drop shadows helps. (Depends) Also tiffs or picts and not jpegs.
    I have been using Motion alot more for layouts and does a nice job. Even if the background is not a "video" background, using a movie can help - make it 30 seconds or so. Export using an uncompressed codec then encode in Compressor.

  • Fuzzy edged fonts/Help doesn't work in 8.1.2.

    Acrobat Reader 8 has just auto-updated to the 8.1.2. Now, all fonts are fuzzy-eded (as if the Windows 'Smooth edge of screen fonts' were switched off, which it isn't - it is set to Cleartype). Also, under Help the options for Help F1 and Online knowledgebase don't work. Any ideas?

    I'm afraid that the only 'solution' I have found is to stop using Acrobat Reader and instead use expert PDF Creator, a superb free programme that creates PDFs from any programme by installing a printer driver, and letting it read all my PDF files for me. Works beautifully.

  • Missing Apple fonts- Help me to find them...

    Hey guys. Some of my default Apple fonts are missing after solving! an issue with some conflicting fonts and now some of them are missing.
    The first one looks different now(as you see in the second image).
    Please help me on this guys, I reinstalled Apple fonts from DVD and it didn't work.
    At least please tell me what is the name of the font in the first image?
    1 -
    2 -

    It isn't clear from what you have provided what (if any) fonts are missing. The second sample appears to be styled text (italic & possibly bold styles), but it might be the same font as the first sample.
    If you know what fonts you removed & how you removed them, this would help us advise you.

  • Find and Replace text and change font help needed.

    I am completely new to Scripting and I'm sure this is quite simple but I do not know where to start.
    I have a FM template that is populated with "raw" text from a database.
    Within the text are several characters (+, @, *, $, # and %).
    I need to replace these characters with symbols from a different font e.g.:
    Each instance of:
    "+" to be replaced with Wingdings 2 font - Lowercase t
    "@" to be replaced with Wingdings 2 font - Lowercase u
    "*"  to be replaced with Wingdings font - Uppercase E   etc.
    I would like to automate the process and believe a script would enable me to do this.
    I have tried looking on the forum, but can not find anything suitable to help me (or I'm looking in the wrong place).
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    not really
    important is the Illustrator Text Object-model, which is not very easy to understand.
    And the Core JS String and regExp Objekts.
    Have a look at this:
    http://www.ogebab.de/home/skripte/text/replace
    The dialog is poor (because of compatibility) and it works simply on TextFrames.contents, i don't know if this is good i all cases.
    But i use it not very often so i don't want to rewrite it.
    Maybe it is a starting-point for you.
    But maybe it is more then you need.
    try this:
    //select a text
    var text = app.activeDocument.selection[0];
    var string = text.contents;
    string = string.replace(/ /g,"  ");
    text.contents= string;
    / /g is a regular expression
    .replace() is a method of the String Object

  • MAIL FONTS - help!!

    I have set my outgoing email font to ARIAL 12, and set the signature to be the same.
    However, people receiving my emails on a PC are seeing the message body in one font and the signature in ARIAL 12.
    What can I do to ensure that everyone receives my emails in the font which I want?
    Please help!
    Thanks!

    I agree, they should let us set the default font for sending messages, not just for how they display on our own computers.
    In the mean time, I've figure out a way around it, still not perfect but slightly less time consuming than other solutions:
    Since Mail does respect my choice of font on signatures, I've created my default signature to include my standard "hello" and then a blank space before my actual signature so now if I start typing my message after the "hello" which is in the right font, the rest of it will be too. The only annoying part is that there is a extra empty line before "hello", but I just delete that line.

  • Font Help?!?!?!?

    How exactly does adding fonts to your mac work? Is the font book just a reference of all your fonts? Do you only add fonts that are usuable in word through the library on your HD? When I go to sites to DL new fonts, some won't load, although they are considered "mac fonts". Do only certain files work? Any help would be greatly appreciated for as you see, I am highly confused THANKS!!

    Listen, Tuttle, if you're looking for some R&R time in between shopping forays, you really ought to catch "Clouet to Seurat: French Drawings from the British Museum," which is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art through January 29.
    I haven't gone yet, but definitely plan to before it closes, they're two of my all time favorites; and while I can't say for certain, obviously, I just have a gut feeling they'd be up your aesthetic alley also (so to speak).
    Good luck braving the shopping throngs.

  • Missing Font Help... Please!

    Hi Guys,
    Hoping someone can help me out.
    I'm liasing with a designer who has supplied me an indesign file to fix up some copy.
    When I open the file I'm told that I'm missing a bunch of fonts. For example:
    Frutiger 66 Bold Italic
    Now I've installed the missing fonts using .otf files.
    So when I go to find font I can only navigate to Frutiger LT Std 66 Bold Italic.
    It replaces all the fonts and it looks the same to me??? Are they the sam? I used the exact ones but my version has LT std....
    Let's say they are the same, i just have a different version. Now the concern I have is when I give the file back the designer is now going to get the missing fonts message when they first open it up.
    Will it just be a case of them doing what I just did, but to their version of the font?
    Is there something I could do? Will this work okay?
    Apreciate any help or suggestions.
    Thanks

    Adobe still offers the old Type 1 versions of Frutiger at http://store1.adobe.com/cfusion/store/html/index.cfm?store=OLS-US&event=displayFontPackage &code=73 and Linotype offers Oepntype, Windows Truetype (which can also be used on OS X) and Windows and Mac Type 1 versions.
    You should check withthe agency to find out exactly which version and type they are using, and match the same version if you can (but thay may have a really old release, so it might not be possible, but matching the type of font would probably be a good idea).
    But to answer the first part of the question, yes, OpenType is newer technology (though under the hood the fonts are still either T1 or TT outlines, with fonts carying .otf extensions usually being T1) and just fine for print. OpenType fonts have larger glyph sets than the older versions so they often contain special characters, small caps, alternates, etc, that are not contained in the older fonts unless you buy "expert" or other "special" sets which is a nice bonus. Fonts with Pro in the name are more likely to have a lot of extras, though, than those that are called Std.
    Personally I no longer buy anything except OpenType fonts when there is a choice.
