FONTS: Installing .pfb fonts on MacOSX

Hi,
I have Font Folio 8 and I'd like to install the fonts onto MacOsX.
Is there a software that allows for the transfer?

Hummm I'm looking into Unicode right now but have no idea how
it works.
I also have to translate these headings into Arabic. I've
experiemented
by copying some Arabic text from a news site, dumping it into
Illustrator, choosing one of the Arabic fonts which ship with
the OS but
it looks nothing like that what was on the website lol.

How do I install PFB fonts when using Windows 7 64bit?

I got a new 64 bit computer with Windows 7. But when I copied the fonts I was using on the old computer the PFB fonts do not work any longer.
The old ATMF program does not work on this computer so how do I now install the PFB fonts?

Hopefully you did not try to install the old Adobe Type Manager software. If you did, you may need to totally reload Windows if you cannot restore your system to its state prior to attempting to install that software!
Assuming that you didn't make that fatal mistake, the method for installing Type 1 fonts, each of which consists of a .pfb and a .pfm file is as follows:
(1)     Copy the .pfb and the .pfm files to a single directory if they are not already so available.
(2)     Select the .pfm files for the fonts you wish to install.
(3)     Right-click and select Install which will then proceed to install the fonts onto your system copying both the .pfb and the .pfm files to the C:\Windows\Fonts directory. Do not drag-and-drop these files! Alternatively, if you don't want the font files themselves resident in the C:\Windows\Fonts directory, when you right-click the files, select Install as shortcut. This installs the font but references it from its current location.

How to install Pages 09 in MacOSX

Last week I bought a new Macbook pro ( running OS X 10.9.2) and I migrated only the data ( not the application) from my time machine.
The old Mac was running OS Lion.
I see that the new Pages 5.1 is hopeless with many useful features removed and I want my old Pages 09 back.
When I restored it from my time machine and run Pages, I get the following error
"Pages cannot be opend because of a problem,
Check with the developer to make sure that Pages runs with this version of the OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any updates for the OS X and the application"
Any help to get back my Pages 09 is appreciated.

I am having trouble re-installing cs4 on my macosx 10.6.8

I uninstalled cs4 as it was not working properly the cloning tool developed a pattern that I could not get rid of, so thought I would uninstall it. Unfortunately it will not now re-install, the disc gets part-way through and then clicks out and the message says when you try to open the folder that it may be damaged or that there are some components missing. Before you start the install process in the top address bar of the cs4 window it says 0 kbytes available.
Adobe say they do not support cs4 anymore which I could not beleive, as although it is 4 years old it quite sufficient for my needs, and can't afford to replace it.
Can anyone help?

Installing Oracle TimesTen in MacOSx

Increase default font size??

Hi,
I'm using a Macbook Pro running at 1920 x 1200. The real estate is perfect for when I'm using Final Cut Studio but there's a huge problem. The font sizes are tiny. Is there any way to increase the default OS X font size?

the general answer is: you can't. it will be possible once resolution independence is fully supported. it exists in leopard but is so extremely buggy that I don't even want to explain how to use it. it might be better implemented in snow leopard once it comes out. in the meantime you can use TinkerTool to change SOME fonts.

Illustrator CS+JSでのapp.fontsについて

Can I install Windows XP SP3 in Macbook Pro (Processor : i5) ? I tried to install with licensed cd but it giving me error saying insert recognized cd.

You can install XP *inside* a VM such as VirtualBox, Fusion or Parallels under Lion. But BootCmp 4.01 only runs Windows 7.
Some people use VM instead of BootCamp because:
VM is a "memory bubble" that lets nothing like a virus out
Your Windows install is actually a MacOSX file so can be backed up by TimeMachine or CarbonCopyClone

Re-installing iMovie HD

I've had problems with the sound spikes or "hiccups" randomly happening between clips on my movies. I want to re-install iMovie HD. Will doing so erase the movies that I've made and are there any other precautions I should be aware of before re-installing?

MacOsX is based on UNIX, which handles files (apps are files too) very different to that. what was invented a while ago in Redmond...
Re-Installing can result in a more INSTABLE system/app...! it is not the solution to, it causes trouble....
"hiccups" (besides: nice discription, you should start to write, shakespeare...) could have many causes, from "overcrowded hd", to "wrong audiofile format", to "too many tasks simultanously" up to "external drive wrong formatted".....
so, re-installing is Voodoo. Bad Voodoo.-

System Image Utility - universal_boot option only on Intel machines

I'm using System Image Utility on 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5 running Mac OS X Server version 10.5.2. When I try to create a NetBoot image with the standard settings (no customization) and a Mac OS X 10.5 Install DVD, I get the following message:

How to update Flash Builder 4 beta 2 so that it remains compatible with snapshots?

I have Flash Builder 4 beta 2 STANDALONE installed on my Mac (MacOSX 10.6) and I just upgraded my Flex SDK to the latest stable snapshot (4.0.0.13875). Now it seems that the visual designer is not very happy with this upgrade.
And in "Using Gumbo builds with Flex Builder" (http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Using+Gumbo+Builds+in+Flex+Builder) it is said that "Please note that the release of a milestone build will usually have an associated automatic update to Flex Builder that will include all relevant files."
The question is how do I get that automatic update? I've tried Help/Software Updates/Find and install.../Updates for existing features, but it didn't find any updates. Any idea how I can revive my Design mode?

There are no updates for Beta 2.
You're probably seeing one of two issues with the latest nightly build:
1) playerglobal.swc change http://forums.adobe.com/thread/559312?tstart=0
2) Namespace change from xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo" to xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"

Imovie HD wont open

Imovie hd wont open. Tries to open then crashes. All other ilife apps work. Deleted the preferences, reinstalled, installed the updater, ran nortons, still no luck. Any idea what else I can try?

.. uuuh, you said the bad word... no, TWO bad words: "reinstalled" is one of them, you don't run windows anymore, but a much more elaborated system, UNIX, which doesn't like (and need) reinstall, or as some say "resinstallation doesn't solve, it generates problems!"
but, the biggest mistake: you run Norton!
that is an absolutely NoGo on a UNIX machine!
A Mac, out of the box, contains much more then 20.000 files (and MacOsX makes two dozends visible...) - Norton's renommee is way below subzero with some Mac afficionados... you have a very high chance that it distroys completely the file structure of MacOsX.... :-/
you can try the suggestions made in this MacWorld article...
if you don't have any other appointments this weekend, I would suggest a complete clean install (reformat drive) of MacOsX... simply drop installer disc into Mac, wait half an hour..., don't forget to save your docs onto some external drive...

How does one recover from Downloader:OSX/Flashback.C?

I am pretty sure I dowloaded and installed it on one or more of my machines...
It seems that a re-install of Lion is the only way to bring back Lion's XProtectUpdater functions...
Is there a thread for fixing this dumb mistake?

After giving this additional thought, I realize that you seem to be the first to report having been infected by this version, so I don't think any of us can offer an exact solution yet. If you don't mind taking your time, I'd like walk you through this slowly so we can all learn more about it.
It would seem that this version was served up for a short time around Oct 11. Do you know if you used it that long ago or was it more recently? Do you still have the installer? If so, hang on to it for now as we may need you to provide it to some sample sites.
Go ahead and test to see if XProtect has been compromised by opening your Terminal app (in the Utilities folder) then copy and paste the following into a new window after the "$" prompt:
sudo launchctl list
hit return and when prompted, enter your admin password (you won't see any typing) and hit return again.
The list should include "com.apple.xprotectupdater.plist" if it's working.
If it's not working, then inspect either of the following two files:
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.xprotectupdater.plist
/usr/libexec/XProtectUpdater
If either are blank, then you have been infected. Restore from backup or reinstall Lion.
Next you will need to fix Safari and/or FireFox. F-Secure has these instructions:

In Terminal, convert the affected PLIST files to XML:
plutil -convert xml1 /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Info.plist
plutil -convert xml1 /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/Info.plist
Remove the following entry from the PLIST files:

Intego explains concerning Safari:
...it adds the actual backdoor module at /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/UnHackMeBuild.
What I don't know is whether or not any of the other files are still installed. They were:
.MacOSX/environment.plist
Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.SystemUI.plist
Library/Preferences/perflib
Library/Preferences/Preferences.dylib
Library/Logs/softwareupdate.log
and Intego said that #4 is not installed. If you find any of them please move them all at once and hold on to them and let us know. The first is a hidden folder, so if you need help looking into that let me know. If that one is not moved at the same time as the others you will probably be unable to log back into your account.
