For a Photography Student 13i5 or 13i7?

As a photography student and Communications Major I work a lot with Apple Equipment and have decided to possibly invest in a portable MacBook Pro 13.3
I do a lot of photography and post processing with the HP Pavillion Laptop I have now.
I feel more comfortable using Apple equipment and that's why I've decided to go with a MacBook Pro.
The only thing I am unsure about is if I get the 13i5 MBP can it handle all the projects and software such as; photoshop and lightroom along with Final Cut.
Or, would it be a wise decision to go and spend a little bit more for the 13i7?
I'm not interested in the Retina Display because when I work with Retina on my school computers I don't see much of a difference; especially for the cost.
I have a budget that I would like to stick to of around $1650 for the Laptop itself. I would like to get a Time Capsule if it can squeeze it to the budget.
Please letme know what you guys think.
Thank you guys!

I do mostly photography. I use Adobe Photoshop,Lightroom and Corel Photo Pro. I operate on a HP 2.20
GHz. 4GB RAM 500GB HDD and it does alrightt.. I guess you could say.. When I'm using these programs
at the same time it tends to be like a tortoise on load time and I've had it completly freeze up on me
several times. I do a combo of JPEG and RAW files and they bog down my computer when I'm
working on quite a few at a given time. Is the i7 chip worth it compared to the i5? I like the 13' model
because I can easily take it with me to my studio and to the classroom. So no need for bigger screen.
As a photographer I don't see the point in spending an extra 200-300 dollars on retina when I can
blow the image up on a 27' iMac.

    Hi,
In addition to what Ken said, I would suggest that you give Edge Animate a shot as well.
Creative Cloud is available as trial version for 30 days and almost all creative software is bundled with the Creative Cloud. Tutorials are included for each of the products on the respective sections of the website. For instance, this site Website builder | Download free Adobe Dreamweaver CC trial gives you access to the trial version as well as tutorials.
I suggest that you go to http://creative.adobe.com and explore the various options available.
For any purchase related information, feel free to send me a private message if you need further clarification. Click on my picture and use the message option. The experts on this forum can help you with other questions you have on using Creative Cloud.

  • Which monitors for digital photography?

What features should be considered when choosing a color monitor for handling and editing digital photographs? What considerations should be given to size, resolution and features? What are some brand names that are reasonably priced that have the important features.
I'll be using the monitor as a plug-in for my PowerBook G4 when I want to have a larger screen than 15".
    Thank you.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Is a time capsule a good idea for a college student living in a dorm?

Is a time capsule a good idea for a college student living in a dorm?

Before you buy......you need to check with the school to see if they allow wireless routers in the dorms, or on campus at all.
Most schools prohibt the use of wireless routers due to interference issues.
Even if the school might allow this, there is no way to know in advance how well this might work....and frankly this type of setup is difficult, even if you have a friend who "knows computers".
If it were me, I would purchase a hard drive for backups....just like you do now.... and send an email once or twice a week to the student to remind them to "backup".

If you have redeemed the voucher for something separate from the computer, then it's a non-issue. If you redeemed it as a price reduction for the computer, then they will return only what you paid less the coupon.

  • Help with choosing a MacBook Air Model for a college student.

I am a college student and I am debating between the two 13 inch Mac AirBook models that Apple offers. I was wondering if someone can give me a breakdown of the differences and also, which model would be a better fit for a college student?

The two models are described here:
    MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013) - Technical SpecificationsJun 10, 2013
Actually, there is only one model.  You can purchase it with 128GB or 256GB of storage.  But you can customize other features as well, such as the processor speed and the RAM size.
Asking which model is best for a college student is just like asking what type of car you should buy.  It's up to you.  In my opinion, if you're going to spend a bit of money to upgrade from the base model, the first place to upgrade would be the RAM size.

  • For being a student, do I get a discount on an iPad?

For being a student, do I get a discount on an iPad?

There are no student discounts on iPads. I got a small "discount" on my iPad purchase by buying on-line (not from Apple) and not having to pay state sales tax.
Apple only provides a small discount on bulk purchases by schools.

  • Discount for High school students

I think it's really cool that college students get discount for spotify but it would be great if high school students could get the same thing , it would be amazing to being playing music wherever we want for a low price and since I find spotify better than pandora. $5 is extremely affordable for high school students and a lot would sign up for that price if that was an option

I am 17 and currently attending highschool as a senior.
I agree 100% $9.99 per month is kind of steep when you have a $9.10 /h job and paying for gas/insurance/food/housing/etc... I don't have anything handed to me at all. Sure my parent's will buy me a see's candy once in a while, but I am paying for most of my things now. My job pays for ~~ 90% - 95% of my necesities. that would leave me short.
    Here is a pitch:
Mind of a teenager ~ 10 dollars per month would add up to 120$ per year I use this.... that's a problem.
    -after the fact-
Mind of a teenager ~ $5 per month!! omg that's only $60 per year! sure I'll pay for that.
Honestly I would garentee you my 5$ per month if I had access to premium. $10 is just too much.
I can tell you that I know many highschoolers who would agree with my point and say that the sales would be exponential.
    talking business:
I would expect (based on comments and suggestions from friends and information of who I know as a highschool would also subscribe) expecting 30,000 highschoolers per small state and 50,000 highschoolers per large state.
currently to me it seems only 5,000 or 10,000 highschoolers per state own spotify. (most people lie about information on "free sites")

  • Promotion for high school students?

Is there any promotion or sale for High School students? How does it work? Thanks.

The back to school promotion is for college students or teachers of any grade.  The easiest way of thinking about it is that you have to be 18 to take part in pretty much any sort of sales promotion.  That rules out most high school students.
