For some reason my iMac now goes straight to the login screen. I tried to change this in Preferences but Automatic Login isn't highlighted, so I'm unable change it from Off to On. Help please.
As you can see Off at the top of the pic is faint and I cannot find a way of getting to it to change it to On. If can change it to 'On' I presume I won't get the login screen/page after turning on the Mac??
So this was set to Automatic login and then it changed, correct?
What other changes did you make to the system, filevault, workgroup manager, something else?
If the lock is unlocked as you say then something else must have have changed to prevent this setting from being changed. Any information you can supply might lead to a solution.

I'm sorry to read that you are having issues with your Sync account.
Your best bet is to follow the steps described in this blogposts and open a bug:

After that, if you don't want to user Sync in your computer, you can stop it with this simple steps:
* At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options.
* Once the options window opens, click on the Sync tab.
* At the bottom of the Sync tab click on '''Deactivate this Device''' link -
I just bought a new printer for my iMac version 10.7 Lion but I am able to install the software but for some reason I am not able to view the printer under system preferences to add the printer. It is connected with the USB cord!! It as if the printer does not show up in the add printer section under system prefernces!!
I checked the manufacturer and apple site to see if my printer is supprted and it said it was!! I am using the HP officedeskjet 4500 G510a-f (HP Officejet 4500 Desktop)!! Still does not show up under add printers please help!!

I used to have the iPhoto application and for some reason it is now gone. Do I have to pay 14.99 in order for me to be able to have it again or is there a way I can get it back. I have a MacBook pro 10.9.5 .

If you had iPhoto version 9.5.1 then you can reinstall from the app store under purchases
If you had any version of iPhoto '11 then you can install for free from the App store
If you had any earlier version of iPhoto (iPhoto '09 version 8.x.x) or older then you need to purchase iPhoto '11 version 9.x.x from the app store
If you had iPhoto '08 (version 7.x.x) or older then you also need to download and run the iPhoto library upgraded prior to launching the new iPhoto

I don't know why this started in recent captures but it is eating up disk space as it is 7 times larger than it needs to be and only the last one works.Is there a way to get these files to be joined together into one file easily. I capture on a FAT32 hard drive but then transfer the files onto my edit machine and would prefer to keep everything archived there as a single file.
Any programs or scripts that I can use. I have figured out that you can open each file in Quicktime and then save as a self contained file, but I was wondering if there is a better way. -

Seriously, I doubt that your answer helped Erik. He has two issues.
He installed the new program and has a double icon folders with software. One for the new & one for the old. (I have this same problem.)
He must have attempted to open one of the products and no longer see his personal settings transferred over. (The install will ask to have those settings migrating, but you have to accept it. eh, I could be wrong; but, that what i remembered doing.

However, i can not get any of my products to work. Ie. have to constantly click on icon to open; once open i get a unexpected error and have to close. I'm on a mac pro w/ latest os system.
In addition, I have tried to uninstall the older by clicking on the application's manager icon.; Unfortunately, it shuts down at each attempt. Therefore, I am unable to un-install the old product or the new.
Possibly, we were hoping that the new product would be simply updated if an old recent was already installed.
Instead, the installation simply created a new icon and the new folder with product. -

My sons imessage on his IPOD is not sending or receiving for some reason. My Iphone and his brothers work. He is logged in to his Imessage account but he is still not receiving or able to send and Imessage. Ive completed a re-start. I dont thik its his IPOD as his account on our family IMac is also not receiving or sending messages. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

It cannot be installed. It comes pre-installed on every iPhone 4S and later. Maybe it was disabled under Settings > General > Restrictions.

Is it possible that you are using the same password for the old O2 Study and newer O2 Apple Base Station networks?
If so, Keychain Access is storing the old information about the old network and may be associating it with your AirPort Extreme settings based on the BSSID that William has mentioned.
If that's the case, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access and look for a listing with the old network name. Delete this entry. You may need to power down both the computer and the AirPort Extreme and restart them. -

I have an iPhone 4 and for some reason I'm not able to update the software. I go to Settings then General but it doesn't even have a Software Update option. Am I missing something?
With iOS 4, the only way to update your software is connected to iTunes. OTA (over the air) updates were not available until iOS 5. You will need to connect your iPhone to a computer and use iTunes to download and install the iOS updates on your iPhone (at least until your iOS version is 5.0 or higher).

I have paid for the Mountain Lion. But for some reason, I cannot seem to download it, despite software being upgraded. Anyone facing this problem where the download does not begin? How can I solve this?
Make sure your Mac qualifies to run Mountain Lion > Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.
Try disabling anti virus software and turn off the Firewall in System Preferencs > Security & Privacy
Apps such as Little Snitch and Net Nanny can prevent apps from downloading from the App store including Mountain Lion.
Third party download managers are not compatible with the App Store.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation. -

The contacts that belong to your exchange accounts and your Google account will not sync with iCloud. If you want to sync these contacts with iCloud, you would need to copy them to the iCloud account and then disable contact syncing with these other accounts. (If you didn't disable contacts syncing with these accounts, you would see duplicates of these contacts on your phone -- one from the external account, and one from iCloud.) Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), and confirm that this is set to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap your each of your exchange accounts (if you have more than one listed) as well as your Gmail/Google account and turn off contacts syncing with these accounts. This will remove the contacts from these accounts from your phone.
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from these accounts back to your phone, and to iCloud. All your contacts should now be in iCloud and be visible on icloud.com.
