Hi and welcome to the HP Support Community. As has been explained here many, many times in many threads, the webOS servers have been shut down.  No more webOS Profiles.  No more backup.  No more App Catalog. There are some "stickied" threads at the top of this board discussing this.  Try this one, which includes links to articles about bypassing webOS servers.

  • THE ULTIMATE PALM PRE POOR SIGNAL ISSUE THREAD

The previous thread I posted can be deleted.  This thread has everything people need to read.  Here is the conversation I just had with Palm about the rampant signal problems everyone is having with their Palm Pre phones (side note, they say they'll be calling me back in a few days.  I'll assume they mean BUSINESS days and i'll post here again tuesday or wednesday if I don't hear from anyone.) :

1:56 AM Connected. A support representative will be with you shortly.
1:57 AM Support session established with Sabino.
1:57 AM Sabino: Hello David. Thank you for contacting Palm. My name is Sabino.
    1:57 AM David Doria: hi
1:58 AM Sabino: I understand that you are facing issues with weak signals.
1:58 AM Sabino: Am I correct?
1:58 AM David Doria: yes.  weak, and also erractic.  sometimes i will get full bars, and then it will jump to one bar, or none...then be roaming, then Ev, then 1x...all in the SAME spot
1:58 AM Sabino: I’m sorry for any trouble this may have caused.
1:58 AM Sabino: May I know since how long you are facing this issue?
1:59 AM David Doria: as long as i've been using a palm pre, but it is getting worse with time.  i've been using a palm pre since october of last year
2:00 AM Sabino:  Let me know the webOS version on the device and your carrier name.
2:01 AM David Doria: whatever the latest OS is.  1.4.whatever.  and i'm with sprint
2:01 AM Sabino: This seems to be the issue with the network, all the network related issues were taken care by your carrier. I suggest you to contact Sprint. They will be able to fix the issue.
2:01 AM David Doria: um, you said that before i even told you what carrier i'm using
2:01 AM Sabino: I just pulled the details using your phone number.
2:02 AM David Doria: you know that isn't true.  you know it's not sprint
2:02 AM David Doria: i just told you all my other phones with sprint worked fine here and i've only been having problems since i got a palm pre
2:02 AM Sabino: Okay, contact your carrier, they will be able to fix the issue.
2:02 AM David Doria: i've lived here for 4 years and i've had sprint all 4 years
2:02 AM David Doria: no they won't.  i've been contacting them for weeks.  they came out and checked the tower TWICE now.  there's nothing they can do.  it's a hardware issue for palm
2:04 AM David Doria: there are threads all over the internet with hundreds of people complaining about having signal issues ONLY since they bought a palm pre.  now you're telling me it's a sprint issue and you haven't even looked at my phone yet.
2:05 AM Sabino:  What I would like to do, is place your case into a special team that develops technical solutions. They will do further research on it. They would be in touch with you once they have further updates. I cannot commit to a specific callback period, but please know that we are working on your case. May I do that for you?
2:06 AM David Doria: no, because i saw someone in one thread say that palm told them the exact same thing...in 2009
2:06 AM David Doria: so you're basically saying you're forwarding the problem to a generic department to a generic person that i can't know the name of, with no contact info, and that there is no guarantee when they will contact me IF they even will contact me...but i should definitely believe they are working on the problem
2:06 AM Sabino: What exactly you want me to do now?
2:06 AM David Doria: that's ridiculous
2:07 AM David Doria: i want you to tell me why palm is not fixing this problem with the palm pre and is instead telling me it is sprint's problem and then pretending to forward the issue to another department which has already had years to fix the issue
2:08 AM Sabino: As I stated, all the network related issues are taken by carrier.
2:09 AM David Doria: it's a hardware issue
2:10 AM Sabino:  I am going to tell you about our 2 repair options:
    2:10 AM Sabino:
    1.  Repair return: After I create your service repair order, you receive an email with the details on how and where to ship your device for repair. The email also contains info on the follow-up process. After the repair center receives your device, you’ll receive a working device in another 5-7 business days.
    2. :”With the advance exchange option, we ship you a replacement device first, and then you return your defective device to us using a prepaid label. There is a $29.95 fee for this special service but you get a replacement device within 3-5 days.
2:10 AM David Doria: you can't even KNOW it's a network issue without looking at the phone, and all evidence points to hardware since other phones on the same carrier work fine
2:10 AM Sabino: Please go through the above 2 options.
2:10 AM David Doria: this is my SEVENTH palm pre phone, sabino
2:11 AM David Doria: as many others in forums will tell you, they have also replaced their phones MULTIPLE times hoping to fix this issue.  nothing works.  there is SOMETHING physically wrong with the reception capability of the palm pre
2:12 AM David Doria: dude, stop copying and pasting what palm tells you to say and listen to me.  these phones do NOT work.  there is something majorly wrong with them and palm is cheating people out of hundreds of dollars a piece to save themselves the cost of a fix.
2:13 AM Sabino: Please hold on while I transfer the chat to our Supervisor.
2:13 AM David Doria: thank you
    2:13 AM Sabino: You’re welcome.

    2:16 AM Saben: Okay.
2:16 AM Saben: Did you try any troubleshooting steps?
2:17 AM David Doria: yes.  i reset my phone...tried NEW phones...updated...updated PRL...etc...tried 2G only, restarting the phone after removing the battery, tried going outside...tried going a few blocks down.
2:17 AM David Doria: i can't even count how many things i have tried.  something is wrong with the palm pre
2:18 AM Saben: Did you try with the webOS doctor?
2:18 AM David Doria: i've tried every software solution i can find
2:19 AM Saben: I am sorry, I just want to know did you run the webOS doctor tool?
2:19 AM David Doria: i've been talking to sprint about this for WEEKS now.  in case you didn't read the conversation, they've already come out to check the local tower twice now
2:20 AM Saben: Okay. It seems that you did not use the webOS doctor tool on the device to check the issue.
2:20 AM David Doria: yes.  the local sprint repair center used the tool when my phone froze during an update
2:20 AM David Doria: yes i did
2:20 AM Saben: Okay. Thank you for the information.
2:20 AM David Doria: you're welcome
2:20 AM Saben: Then it seems need a repair.
2:20 AM David Doria: but this is my 7th palm pre phone.
2:20 AM David Doria: they have all done this
2:22 AM Saben: Okay. To best assist you I will escalate the issue to specialist team. They will call back you and find a resolution.
2:22 AM David Doria: are you guaranteeing me that they will call?
2:22 AM David Doria: because the last guy said someone MAY contact me but probably not
2:23 AM Saben: Yes. They will contact you. I will escalate the issue to specialist team.
2:23 AM David Doria: when will they contact me by?
2:23 AM Saben: I need few information from you to do a specific escalation.

Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

So they finally called me back, but I didn't get the call because.....I had no signal.  HAHA
I got their voicemail and called back.  First, they tried telling me YET AGAIN that it was Sprint's problem.  They said that if I call Sprint, they will give me a device to boost signal in my home.  I said, "That's fine, but what do I do when I'm in the rest of the country?"  Then they told me it was a software problem and that I need to run WebOSdoctor to reinstall the operating system.  I told them that this is my 7th Palm Pre.  I told them that Sprint already used the Doctor...like I told the online tech people.  But this guy on the phone wasn't having it.  He told me that he didn't think Sprint was able to do that (so I can, but Sprint can't =/?) and that I should do it just to be sure.  He said if that doesn't work that they will try out a NEW Palm profile and see if that fixes it.  If neither of those works, he basically admitted there are no other options.
I asked him if there is some sort of way they can physically upgrade the antenna system with a better material or placement and he said that Palm has no department able to do that.
I told him about the various threads online like this one, where dozens of people complain about the same  issue.  He told me to just do the WebOSdoctor and call him back.   I asked him if this has fixed signal problems for people previously and he said that he doesn't get to know the end result of his suggestions to customers.   How unprofessional is that?  How is the guy supposed to get better at his job if he's not allowed to find out if the fixes he suggest to people actually work?  That seems nuts to me, but i digress.
I haven't tried the Doctor yet.  I'm going to, but I'm just being lazy because I know it won't work, and it's going to be really annoying to update my phone and backup photos first and all that good stuff.
I will post back after I run the doctor and try the new Palm profile.  Until then, I'd REALLY suggest you all do what I did and call Palm, insisting they fix the problem, even if it means a recall.  They aren't gonna do it just for me, no matter how many times I complain.  That's a fact.
If anyone DOES call Palm, it would probably be a good idea to bring up this thread and also to post here about what they tell you!

  • Transfer Data from PalmOne Zire31 to the new Palm Pre?

Hi all, I've done some research to see how I can transfer the calendar and the contacts on my PalmOne Zire31 to my new Palm Pre and find PocketCopy from Chapuro to help do that without loosing the info on the PalmZire 31. I was wondering if anybody knows how to do that without paying 24$ for the Chapuro software?
    Please help me!!!
    Thanks
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

You will need to sync your handheld to Palm desktop to make sure the data in Palm desktop is current. Download and install Palm desktop 6.2, you need this version for the Palm Data Transfer Assistant tool. Here is the link; http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/32859_en.html
Setup a gmail account for your data.  You have 3 options for your data transfer, transfer to the palm profile, exchange server account or Gmail. The palm profile has experienced some data loss issues at this point so I would highly recommend using gmail.
Go to this link and download the Data Transfer Assistant; http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/pre/migration/moveontophone.html
Select to sync with your gmail account.
For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.palm.com webpage.

  • Flash for the Palm Pre

Now that flash is on general release where do I go to download the Palm Pre version?

It seems any post or forum that Adobe doesn't like gets "frozen" out when discussing Flash for the Palm Pre.  The missing Palm Pre Flash and the "shift of blame" by Adobe to Palm has been a common theme  (see http://forums.adobe.com/message/2748422#2748422 as an example) is becoming tiresome.
Yet if you ask Palm they tell you its nothing to do with them, why would it be?  That is such a silly dead-end statement that I suspect Adobe are far to embarrassed by what's actually happened.  If they want to prove me wrong then how about they release the flash to me rather than Palm?  LOL now, there's a novel idea!
I suspect this has something to do the popular rise of Android, an operating system for mobiles that was still in design when webOS for Palm Pre was already established.  It appears, and no one denies, that the demo on the Palm Pre, you know the one, the one that made us all go out and get the Palm instead of the iPhone, was an iphoney.
    We have been duped.
While much of the web relies on Adobe technology at the moment the end of their business cycle is in site, not just HTML 5, but sentiment in general.  The lack of respect, clarity, accountability and honesty in the main to blame.

  • Is Palm Zire 21 Software compatible with Palm Pre Plus Cell Phone?

I have an older Palm Zire 21. I love all the features. However, now I am trying to consolidate my Windows (vista) Calendar with my Palm and it is not compatible. I thought I would purchase the newer Palm Pre plus Cell Phone in order to have all of my contacts and calendars on my phone as well as my laptop. Though no one can seem to answer my question: Can I import my contact and calendar from my Zire 21 to the Palm Pre Plus?
Many thanks to who can answer this for me. I greatly appreciate your time and assistant.

webOS (the new Operating System) from Palm does not natively sync to your computer, but to the "cloud" (online servers).
Palm offers a program that will read your Palm Desktop information, and transfer it to Google.  This is only a one-time transfer, and not a sync solution.  See this thread.

  • SERIOUS PROBLEM Synching Palm Pre Plus (Verizon) with Companion Link OS USB -- NEED HELP!!

I am having serious problems with Companion Link OS USB synching with Palm Desktop 4.2 via USB on my Verizon Palm Pre.
The Verizon phone is my second Palm Pre.  (The original Palm Pre which came from Germany worked perfectly with Companion Link).
The Verizon Palm Pre is a Palm Pre Plus.
As noted I utilize Palm Desktop software Version 4.2.0 on my computer.
I started out with Companion Link software Version 3.0 Build 3096  -- and have worked my way up to Version 4.0 Build 4008 over the last few months, and have spend hundreds of hours trying to solve the synchronization issue described in detail below.
The Companion Link software is configured to ONLY synch one way
FROM my Palm Desktop on my computer to the phone via USB
(I don’t want to put my contacts and calendar on the web, NOR do I like the way Google contacts works, even if I DID want to).
When I synch the Palm Desktop to the Palm Pre the following occurs:
    The Calendar synchs fine.
The contacts do NOT synch properly.
I have 1,500+ contacts in my Palm Desktop.
For some inexplicable reason, during the synch process the approximately 1,200+ of my contacts are compiled under ONE contact listing (John Davis). The icon by the contact shows that TWO contacts are linked under John Davis, however when I click on the icon to see who is linked under John Davis, NO contacts appear.  But I have the option to link additional contacts under John Davis if desired (AS IF!!).
So, 1,200 of my contacts do NOT appear in the contact list.  If I want to call my husband, and type in Bruce, NOTHING comes up.  BUT if I type in his phone number, the listing for John Davis comes up and shows me all the numbers that legitimately belong to my husband.  Ditto my friend Susan, etc for the other 1,200 contacts buried under the contact listing for John Davis on the phone.
SO, if any of these 1,200+ people, call me or text message me, my phone tells me I have a call or a text from John Davis.
I cannot look up my contacts to call them or text them because the contacts do not actually APPEAR under John Davis (If the phone were just linking them and SHOWED them, I could manually de-link them).
FURTHER, when I get a text message from anyone who is compiled under John Davis, the text message is truncated.  I can see the notification that I got a text message from John Davis, and I can see the first few words in the notification area, but if I open the text message, it appears to be blank (this only happens after synching Companion Link – before linking Companion Link all text messages are fine.  AND, if I get a text message from one of the 300 or so contacts that actually synch into my phone correctly, the text messages are perfectly fine and work normally.
I have worked with BOTH the Companion Link technical support people AND the Palm technical support people extensively in an effort to solve this problem.
I have done Full Secure Erases and started over trying to get the phone to synch more than 35 times at this point.
I have tried synching from different computers
I have had Palm replace the phone TWICE (so this is actually my third Verizon Palm Pre Plus).
I have run Web OS Doctor
    Nothing helps.
Every time the phone does exactly the same thing described above.
When I synch the phone it tells me:
Web OS:     Added             1543/1543    Contacts to the phone
                PC:              Updated          1232/1232     Contacts
(The 1232 contacts being updated are the 1232 that are compiled under the one contact listing of course).
Needless to say, Companion Link says it is the phone.
Palm says it is the Companion Link third party software.
Since it is the same 1,200+ contacts every time, I have had both Palm and Companion Link examine my contact database to see if they could identify anything amok about these 1,200+ contacts, but there doesn’t appear to be any difference between those contacts and the 300 or so that synch into the phone properly.
Companion Link has told me variously that:
    -  This is a very rare Synergy issue and that I must turn off the Synergy feature on the phone (would that this could be done per Palm it can NOT be done).
    -  Only TWO people have ever had this issue (me and someone else unnamed);
    -  That this is a common problem with the Palm Pre, but Companion Link works fine with every other phone
    -  I e-mailed them my contact list and they SWORE to me that they were unable to duplicate my problem on their computers.  (I don’t believe this)
    -  AND has most recently told me that there is nothing more they can do for me, that I will have to find a solution myself.
Palm has said that there is nothing they can do for me if third party software doesn’t work properly with the phone.
This does appear to be the Synergy feature run amok.  But how to correct it???????
I love the Palm Pre.  I love my Palm Desktop 4.2 software.
If I can’t get this fixed shortly, I guess I’m going to have to move back to a Treo 680.
Does anyone out there please, please, please have a solution or a suggestion that will help?
Post relates to: Pre Plus p101vzw (Verizon)

    Hello,
I am almost as frustrated as you.  Purchased my pre plus back in may and bought the companion link software immediately  ( I have synced via usb for years on other palms to lotus notes)  All the information from companion link states that it does the job.  I only need to sync my calendar, no contacts.   I have put in a ridiculous amount of time with palm, my IT department and Companion link,  IT HAS NEVER EVER EVER WORKED.   I deleted, re installed, upgraded, tried different steps in different orders, I have gotten a new phone, tried it on multiple computers.  NOTHING WORKS.   Probably been through all these steps listed 50 times by now.  Actually I think that companion link doesn't work for palm pre plus, they just are not willing to say so and advertise that is does work.
I am extremely disappointed in my pre because of this.  I did my research before making my purchase, it appeared possible.    I WAS a long term palm user.  Currently looking at new phones and never again a palm.  Companion link should be more careful about what they say they can do.  One of the service techs actually told me that if I wanted it to work I should ditch my palm.  That's service for ya.
Good luck,  the fight got the better of me.  I am done.

  • Need info on palm pre

Hi to resume this quickly..my friend gave me her palm pre cause she had broken the lcd screen.

Problem is i wanna transfer my old phone to the palm pre and im with rogers i know i gotta jailbreak the Pre to be able to do that, and i dont find the spot to introduce the sim card...after seeing video on youtube i spoted where it is suposed to be but on mine there's a aluminium cover is there a possibility that not all the pre got sim card slot or what !?
Can some1 explain me a easier way to do what i want !? does i really need to pick up my old cellphone's sim card and put it on the Pre(ex cellphone Lg EvE smarthphone)
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Bell)

The Bell Palm Pre is a CDMA phone while Rogers is GSM and unforutnately we currently do not have a GSM Pre in Canada yet.  The Palm Pre 2 in Canada is GSM and will be avail soon.  Check it out here.

  • Palm TX conversion to the new Palm Prer Plus

I am anticipating the purchase of the new Palm Pre Plus phone from Verizon. Does anyone know if I can transfer my Palm TX data to the Phone?  Also, Is the phone Bluetooth compatible to synch to my internal car phone system?
    Post relates to: Palm TX

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
Your question regarding migration of data from your TX to the Pre Plus is answered in several threads in the Synergy board.  Check the two top "stickied" threads about moving your data, and desktop synchronization with either Palm Desktop or M$ Outlook.
Also, since that issue is the main Subject of your post, I will move this thread into that Synergy board.

Hi I preordered The Last Of Us Remastered on PS4 last night for store pick-up. I picked up the game when the store opened but I didn't get the preorder bonus. I didn't receive an email or the code being printed on the receipt. The preorder bonus was for a Survival Pack. I was just wondering if it was something that I should've got right away because I'm getiing ready to play the game and I want to use those bonus. Thank You.

    Hi crazypnut,
Welcome to the conversation about The Last of Us on PS4! I greatly thank you for pre-ordering your copy with Best Buy.  I do however apologize as it sounds like you also didn’t receive your pre-order bonus. I’ll happily review the details of your order and assist further.
Using your email address on file for the forums, I have located your pre-order for The Last of Us. You should have received the pre-order bonus based on your purchase date and I’m uncertain as to why you wouldn’t have received it. However, to resolve this, I’ve requested another code for the Survival Pack pre-order bonus. You should receive an automatically generated email shortly containing the code. Please be sure to check your spam and junk folders.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention on the forums and I hope you enjoy the game!

  • Palm Pre in Sweden

Is it OK to use Palm pre and Tele2 in sweden?
Post relates to: Treo 680 (Unlocked GSM)

    Hello!
As long as you are getting the European Palm Pre 2 Unbranded you can use that fine in Sweeden.  However, our app catalog has not been deployed there so there will be no access to the catalog there.

  • The wall adapter for the palm pre charger

can the wall adapter for charging the palm pre also be used with an ipod touch charge cord? both are usb ends that can plug into the wall adapter

Standard warning label caveat: You CAN use these chargers interchangeably as long as both devices use micro USB technology, and not mini USB. (Basically don't force the charger in the charging port.) However, it is recommended that you only use chargers and equipment designed for and that came with your device.

  • Can you set a ringtone for the palm pre text messages...Please help!!!!

I use to have a centro and you were able to set a special tone for you to identify if that was a text msg or a call coming through. Can you do this with the Palm Pre because I can;t find it?

Where do I need to make noise to? I have had nothing but problems with this thing. From waiting on activation over a 2 day period, to having to manually cut and copy my phone numbers from a csv file, that best buy told me would work without a glitch, into my google account. Now after 4 days I am more comfortable with the phone but am finding out how many things are problems.
    *wireless printing
*sync way too many contacts from unneeded accounts
    *lack of accessories and applications
*poor battery- even sitting overnight lost 1/2 its battery
*message tone - singular, unloud, not even audible while in a car
*I cant find any way to select text while typing, have to tap, delete, retype. but cant cut, copy and paste. No way to select stuff.
I know its a whole new OS, a brand new phone. But come on palm. Do more quality control and TESTING. Not just with geeks, give more to a bigger diversity of customers. Why sprint didnt pre release to exsisting customers to try out in comparison to their currently useless handsets, is unknown. But someone needed to chime in about TINY little things, like changing the message tone! That eventually will bring the rating and functionality of the handset and get a big thumbs down from users.

  • Compressing for the Palm Pre

I was wondering if anyone knew what was the optimum codec to use for the Palm Pre. Is it basically an iPhone?

It uses H.264 so the iPhone presets should work on it.

  • A Stylus Maybe for the Palm Pre...?

I don't suffer from fat fingers, but maybe and accessory stylus could be fashioned. Maybe a new back plate with integrated stylus could be sold for current Pres or included in future ones. A nice weighty, metal stylus; no light weight plastic stylus please.
I wouldn't mind the extra bump for a stylus if I find my self doing a lot of web surfing or document editing in a pinch.

It's the screen technology itself.  It's capacitive which means when your finger touches the screen your finger holds a charge given out by the screen, then the screen processor / CPU calculates exactly where your finger is touching.  This technology allows for the multiple simultaneous touches that we see today on the iPhone and Pre, like the pinch and zoom gesture.
The screens that we're used to are actually LCD's (or similar technology) with an array of wires layed out horizontally and vertically over the LCD making a grid.  When any object comes and presses on the grid, it makes contact with one or more wires on each of the vertical and horizontal layout, causing electrical resistance that the CPU can then calculate to get your tap location.  Because the grid is making up the screen circuit it can't determine multiple screen locations at the same time (like when you press one location on your laptops touchpad, then another at the same time, your mouse moves as if you slid your finger across the pad).
So for a stylus, it will need to be able to hold a charge like your finger, as opposed to the plastic tip found on most styli (not sure right now how to pluralize stylus LoL).
Well, that clears up my vague understanding of these screens, thanks. Now, another person who knows more than me can make a stylus that holds a charge; after all, I can get a baloon to hold a charge and bend a stream of water (I refuse to rub a stylus on my head every time I want to tap the screen).  Where's Tesla when I need him?
