Forbiding rendering html and body elements within jsf page

Hi, I have noticed rendered JSF page always starts and ends with elements
<html> <body>
my content
</body> </html>
but I need page that contains only "my content" for inserting into live html document
It can be this automatic elements rendering disabled??

f:subview instead of f:view did no changes. output is also closed with standards elements:

but I need in output only "CONTENT" without "body" and so

For some reason i cannot get this swf file to show at 90% width and height. i have tried adding a style sheet in the header to explicity set the html and body to 100% but this still does not help. can anyone see if there is a problem in the code?

That may happen because of the <center> element that doesn't have a height and width specified. Remember to specify dimensions for all containers if you use percentages, otherwise you may end up with 90% of 0 or a default value.

Can any body explain me JSF Page Life Cycle?
I wanted to know basically following few things
1. how the JSF component will be rendered to html
2. How the ValueBinding and MethodBinding mechanish works
3. On conditional situation, if we need to generate the page dynamically with the various components, then what is the role of ValueBinding mechanism?
4. What happens once the page is rendered?? In other words, does the FacesContext instance holds the object information in cache or sends it to garbage collector??
5. Other than ValueBinding mechanism does we have any other procedures to bind the beans to components , when dynamic controls generation situation arises??

Why would one put a percentage on the HTML and Body tags?

On the above site there is a percentage placed on the HTML tag and body tag.
Dose this control the scale of the page or just the type on the page?
If so I would like to know how I may control are elements on the page using percentage.
That is if all the elements on the page are scaled depending on how big the browser window is.

Links to id's and named anchors within a page in an iframe do not open in firefox

In order to force layout of my liquid website, I use i-frames to display content . It is all on my sight www.rdelutherie.com, and I am not displaying pages from other sights. The links to sections of pages from within the same page do not work in firefox.
I have had this problem before with named anchors, and in moving up to html5 and in making my site accessible for people with dissabilities, I started using <nav> eliments... and changed from named anchors to links to ID's like this:
In an unordered list I have these:

They link to sections of the same page like this one:

Last time I researched this problem (a year or more ago), I was told that it was because of a security risk (something about being able to count views...and other peoples proprietary and copyrighted material), but the vaguely described reasoning made little to no sense to me nor many others, who can not even link to our own stuff. The Mozilla developers were rather abrupt and some were even rude in telling us to live with it, instead of trying to come up with a solution or work around, and closed the post and disallowed further posting.
The problem still persists, and although I am not a programmer, I have a real hard time believing that it is impossible for Firefox to distinguish between links contained within a document and site, from those on different sights, domains and what have you.
As far as I know, no other browsers have this problem, so if it is such a big security risk, what is to stop someone with malicious intentions, from just using M$ IE, to bring their evil plan to fruition?
In keeping with "Making the web a better place": Please address this problem, and find a solution, workaround, or at least explain why it is impossible.

I know exactly what you mean, but I have had other page display problems with adjacent columns where one side does not display completely and seems to be conforming to the other ones height... hence the height settings and other tricks to force things to be acceptable.
I am far from understanding code, and most of the solutions, including the one in the link you posted do not have the information a novice like me would need to implement them successfully. Most of them are written for people much more advanced. Without it telling me where exactly to put the code, point to it, what I can (and should) change and remove elsewhere because of it... I am at a loss. I don't know the basics, and have tried hard to understand them, but it is not like electrical circuits, physics and other things that I can understand naturally and with ease.
I will look into it further in a few days, meanwhile I have to attend to my real work that doesn't even pay the bills completely: guitar building and repair, now that comes easy and naturally to me!

BB Connect is Horrible at rendering HTML and downl...

I am testing a Nokia E61. I really like the phone and plan on getting the e70 if I stay with this (from a treo) but I am having a few problems.
First BB Connect emails are just horrible to read, and email that has html code looks like junk. Is there any fix for this? Also, if I try to download any attachments, I get an err.
I am also trying to using an IMAP account with IDLE, which initially works as push email, but then stops working and requires manual syncing. I can download attachments with my IMAP email however.
Any one else feeling the same frustrations?

Unable to open local file using af:goLink and anchor link in JSF page.

I want to open a file at a perticular location on client machine. I am using af:goLink to openg the file. But when i tried to click on the link it is not opening the file. If i give any other value like name of other site, it opens the link. It is not giving any exception also. I tried by puting notmal HTML anchor link. That is also not working. But if i put this anchor link in normal HTML page, it works.

What version of IE are you using? IIRC, IE 7 is supposed to prompt you. ("The web site is attempting to open a page in your Trusted Zone. This can let hax0rs pwnz0r you. Continue?" or something to that effect.)
If you use the verbatim tags, do you get an actual error message? That might help diagnose the problem.

How to set background and other elements for each page of gallery?

I guys, I used th DW/FW Web Photo Gallery tool to make this gallery: http://12bar.co.nz/Gallery/index.htm then edited index.htm to make the page look a bit more attractive. However, when you click on any of the images you just get the ugly white background and black text.
Is there a way to make each photo page black background and insert navigational graphics without having to open and edit each one individually?

Popup within JSF page

Hi,
I have created one jsff fragment (index.jsff) and I have command Link on click on command Link I should show the popup.
Issue is that is generic popup, I have seperate popup fragment and its binding is in its page definition file. Popup.jsff and popuppageDef.xml.
I don't want to copy the bindings in original page index.jsff. I tried to include popup usiing <jsp:include> but it would include only source not bindings.
Is there any way I can show popup on commandlink click without need to copy bindings on my orignal page?

JSF components within jsf components programatic

I am using the java sun pane_tabbed component on a jsf page and I want another jsf page to be the tab body. I tried to include another jsp page but that doesn't work. The include in the example something like

It seems I just can't say

This remind me of servlet days where everything was out.println and why we came up with jsp in the first place and I figure there's got to be a better way.
So what's the way? I understand I could make the inner html another jsf tag but thats overkill for what I am trying to do. Also I need the inner html to be treated itself like an entirely different page (like a component) so just to put outputText around everything just wouldn't work.
So what's the way

In addition.... I understand that part of the JSF concept is that the client can be many different devices and depending on which client different widgets get displayed. A way that that could still be true is that I register a components in faces-config.xml by specifying that it is a jsp page (with jsf components). Then a jsf tree is built with the widgets I have included on the jsp page. Then I specify that the renderer is a jsp page renderer which would mean for my application it would display the jsf page like I wanted with the components where I wanted them. Then if I want to render on for instance a swing application I then need to program a renderer which says how to display these widgets there.
I'm pretty new to JSF but I'm hoping that I am on the right track here. There should be some way for non java developers to help with the creation of components I would think.

How to use HTML tags inside JSF pages

I am creating a Menu using dataTable and outputLink in a JSF page.

Problem with lenght of text and footer elements displaced (bug?)

I have a problem with the footer of my pages. The footer is composed with elements of the master page and two elements that are page dependant so these elements are defined in each page. All the elements in the footer are marked as page footer elements so they should appear below the main content of the page and all in the same position relative to each other.
But the truth is the main content extends below the top of the footer overlapping it and the page dependant elements of the footer are displaced in the same amount and so these elements do not match in the space reserved for them in the footer.
I think the problem is caused by the text box in the main content being displayed with a bigger height than it appears in the editor. Even worse: every web browser shows the text with a different height so the footer elements all appear displaced differently. I have tried to define the height of the text in pixels (px) instead of percentage (%) but the result is the same. But even with this indetermination, the footer should always appear below the main content and not overlaping (or overlaped) by it, so either this is a bug or I am doing something wrong.
Here is how i see the page in the editor. The grayed out keywords and the "UK Photographers" link of the footer are in the current page. All other elements of the footer (horizontal line(rectangle of 1px height), "facebook - links - contact" links and Copyright notice) are in the master page:
This is how the page appears in Firefox 15 with the text zoom set to default. notice how the footer elements that are defined in the current page appear overlaping those defined in the master page (there should be a 27px space between the end of the text and the horizontal line) and moved down in the same amount than the main content exceeds the footer limit:

I am able to repro this on my end as well. Seems like a bug that we will be fixing in a future release.
Work around would be to make sure that the footer item on the individual pages are above the ones from the master page or put everything on the master page or the individual page.

No. Facing pages has been removed from Pages 5 along with 100 other features.
If you want to view two parts of the same document you will need to rename a copy and place two windows side by side, which is hampered by Pages 5's bloated use of screen real estate.

Problem in using MySQL in JSF Pages

Hi,
I am facing a problem regarding use of MySQL in JSF.
I am using IBM RAD 6.0 for application developement.
Previously creating a normal java application which is used of retrieval of the data from the database was working fine. by including j/connector jar file in java build path.
But when same program is converted to web service and accessed through a JSF page using a managed bean it is not working. It throws classNotFoundException
Please reply at your earliest.

How To Reload The JSF page

Hi all,
I am working on an application in which I have three inter-related tables ( Master-Detail-Detail ). I created two forms and one table from the datasources of these Master-Detail-Detail table. I added corresponding createInsert
and commit operations for each of my form and table on the JSF page. The tables have 3 colums one of which is generated by a sequence in the database. I am displaying that as an output text in my page. When I am creating the new row in that table it is not getting displayed till I reload the page by hitting the url. based on that value I should create the rows in the other tables.
The application should work in the below fashion
1. I should able to create a row in the first table using CreateInsert operation. ---> I am able to create and could see the row in the db
2. I should able to create a row in the second table which is child of first table. Dynamically it should take the value of one of the tables attribute for foreign key. ---> This is happening only if I reload the page manually by hitting
the url....but not happening if I dont reload it. I guess the Iterator is not getting refreshsed.
I need to reload the page either programmatically or using ADF Configuration. Please help me in doing that.

Did you set up a composite relationship between the master and detail?
This should take care of automatically bringing in the right master id into new records you are creating in the detail part.

Also instead of doing a full page reload, it would probably be better to do a partial page refresh for the section you need to refresh.
