Unable to open local file using af:goLink and anchor link in JSF page.

Hi,
I want to open a file at a perticular location on client machine. I am using af:goLink to openg the file. But when i tried to click on the link it is not opening the file. If i give any other value like name of other site, it opens the link. It is not giving any exception also. I tried by puting notmal HTML anchor link. That is also not working. But if i put this anchor link in normal HTML page, it works.
Following is the JSPX page that i have created. Here c:\dmmsi.log is a temp file on my local system.
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252'?>
<jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0"

<af:spacer height="20" width="50"/>
<af:goLink targetFrame="_new" destination="file:///c:/dmmsi.log" text="Test"/>
<af:spacer height="20" width="50"/>
<!--a id="you" href="c:\dmmsi.log" target="_new">Open File</a-->
</af:form>
</af:document>
</f:view>
</jsp:root>
HTML Page i tried using anchor link
<html>
<body>
<form>
Please specify a file from your local machine</b>
<input name="file" type="file" onblur="document.forms[0].hello.value = document.forms[0].file.value; document.getElementById('you').innerHTML =document.forms[0].file.value; document.getElementById('you').href = 'file://'+document.forms[0].file.value;">

<input type="text" name="hello" value="">
<br><br>
<!-- a id="you" href="c:\dmmsi.log" target="_new">Click Me to Open file< / a -->

(Note: Please remove the comments that i have added in creating anchor link. I was facing some issue in putting my code in this editor. It was creating the HTML link when i see the preview.)
I hope you will be able to reproduce my problem.

What version of IE are you using? IIRC, IE 7 is supposed to prompt you. ("The web site is attempting to open a page in your Trusted Zone. This can let hax0rs pwnz0r you. Continue?" or something to that effect.)
If you use the verbatim tags, do you get an actual error message? That might help diagnose the problem.

  • Unable to open pdf files using Internet Explorer and Adobe 9.1

    We are unable to open any/all pdf files in Internet Explorer 6 or 7 using Adobe Reader 9.1 on Windows XP SP2.
    The error message is that IE has a problem and sorry for the inconvenience.
    Clicking "OK" closes IE.
    We did not have any issue with Adobe Reader 8.1.
    What we did to date:
    1. Uninstall Adobe Reader 9.1
    2. Run Windows Clean Utility to remove any remnant of Adobe Reader 8
    3. Re-install Adobe Reader 9.1
    Any other suggestions?
    Need to have this upgrade.

    I'm having a similar issue. Prior to upgrading to Acrobat 9.1 I was able to view PDFs from IE 6. No longer. Instead I get a message: "Error opening document. File cannot be found."

  • File open menu will not open local files using open command but the same files will open if I double click them (permissions seem fine)

    Under File menu Open File will not open local files even those downloaded to the desktop by Firefox 5.
    If I double click on HTML file it does open
    Reinstalled. Same behaviour. Default Browser set correctly.
    Permissions set correctly. Odd behaviour.

    Are you sure it hasn't imported?
    Check for the track names (trackname only, not Album or Artist)) and see if they have a blank Artist and Album, because WAV files have no MetaData, so are kind of stupid as far as knowing anything about the Artist, Album & track id.
    You can't search by 'Untitled' either as there is literally, no name at all, but iTunes does pick up the actual physical track name in Finder and uses that. As an example, if you renamed your Aerosmith WAV file from say 'Toys In The Attic' to 'Love Song' it would import the track as 'Love Song' as that's all it can go by.
    There are a few iTunes AppleScripts that let you import from a file of WAV music, by looking at the enclosing Album in the enclosing Artist as that's how most PC progs create the WAV file structure.

  • Open local file using fileReference in AIR

    I just started to build an AIR application and am facing a
    very basic problem. I need a File->Open menu that pops up a file
    open dialog and returns the location (including folder) of a file
    to edit.
    - I tried the fileReference.browse() but this does not seem
    to provide the full path to the file
    - I tried fileReferenceList.browse() but the SELECT event
    does not fire on my Mac under (seem to be a bug reported last
    October:
    http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-13220)
    Now, how can I achieve this in AIR? I assume opening local
    file is a pretty standard operation for desktop application, any
    suggestion/tip?
    thanks
    *P

    You don't want to use FileReference in AIR for what you are
    doing. Check the documentation for the mx.controls.FileSystemTree.
    There are actually a handful of AIR-specific controls for accessing
    the file system. There isn't a "File Open" dialog per se; you can
    build your own out of the controls given. I will say that the
    controls will have the flavor of the OS (so on a Mac the controls
    will behave similarly to the way a Mac accessses and browses for
    files).

  • Unable to open ant file using JDeveloper

    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3 production (version 10.1.3.0.4 build 3673) and I am having difficulty understanding the way ant build files are handled by this version.
    I would like to open ant files (build.xml) just like any other XML file so that I can edit it from the JDeveloper. But I am not able to do it, because the build.xml is at the root of the my application directory structure and trying to add that application root directory to the project contents results in directory with .java files getting added (but not the root directory itself, which has the build.xml file). Of course, I can add a dummy Something.java file under the root directory to cheat JDeveloper into adding this root directory to project contents directories.
    But I am wondering whether there is a better way to do this?

    You are adding the directory in the "Java Content"
    Try expending the Project Content and adding the directory under Resource.

  • Unable to open fla file using CS3 Professional

    Hello All,
    I am having issues opening up fla files using Adobe cs3.
    Scenario:  The company I work for recently attained a client that has a website with flash programming on it.  The client recently asked to have improvements made to their site.   Part of the improvement deals with modifying the flash program.   The client was able to hand over to the company I work for the source for their site which includes the adobe files for the flash program.
    When I attempt to access the main fla program of the client's website, i receive the following message:
    "an error occurred opening the file."
    what options are available for me to attempt to read the fla file?
    Thank you for any information in advance
    Eric

    Good day Eric,
    maybe the flash programer uses latest flash version, where some of the components is needs to open in the latest flash...
    you may try to open it in CS4 then save as CS3...
    hope this will help

  • Opening local files using a URLRequest

    is it possible to open a file from say C drive when your flash file is in C:\somefolder?

    I suppose if it's in the same folder as the requesting swf you can, but after that you're likely to run into sandbox security issues that you would have to deal with. Here's a fuller discussion of what's happening in Flash 10, which opens some possibilities:

  • Can I open .ai file w/ text editor and edit linked file path?

    I want to relink a placed file in a lot of illustrator files to a new file with a different name. I've tried setting up various actions but it is not doing what I need. If I open the file in a text editor such as Notepad++ or Text Wrangler, I can find the linked file path in two places, if I edit this path and save the file (still with .ai extension) I thought the link would change, but when I reopen the file, it does not change. Any ideas?
    If I make an action to relink a file, the action will only place a new file but not replace the old one. I also can't get it to place into a specific layer.
    Any ideas?

    CSS files are plain text with no links, so what you see is all there is.
    In order to apply CSS to HTML, you need a &lt;link> tag in your HTML.
    If you install the Web Developer Extension from the Firefox add-ons site, there is a handy "Edit CSS" sidebar that lets you play with style rules and see the effects live. Note that this pane is not saved, so if you switch tabs, you lose your changes. Make sure to copy out any changes you want to remember.

  • Unable to open pdf file using version 9.5.0 and 10.1.2 / Windows 7 HE / IE 9.0

    My issue is very similar to Elaina920.
    I have Adobe Reader version 9.5.0, running on Windows 7 Home Edition, using IE 9.0.5.  When I attempt to open a pdf document from a secure site, a new window opens, but nothing happens....just a blank (white) screen.
    When I try to do the same thing using IE 9.0 64-bit edition, a new window opens and I get a "Do you want to save...." dialog box.  But when I click on Save or Save As and attempt to save it as a .pdf file, I get a "[file name] couldn't be downloaded" message.
    Things I've already tried:
    - IE / Tools/ Internet Options / Security / Custom Level / Downloads / File Download is enabled
    - IE / Tools/ Internet Options / Programs / Manage Add-Ons / Adobe PDF Link Helper is enabled
    - Checked for Adobe update and got "No Updates Available" message
    - Ran Repair Adobe Reader Installation and re-started PC
    - Upgraded to version 10.1.2 and applied patch program  ==> no change in how the program works
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Ed.

    When using a 32-bit browser, the PDF document should open in the browser (using the Adobe Reader add-on).
    When using a 64-bit browser, it will ask you if you want to save the document, or open in Adobe Reader.
    If neither of these methods work, then it is the website that does not let you download the document (for whatever reason, e.g. server overload).
    Try if you can open this document: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83708/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_ReleaseNote_10.1.2.pdf

    I am using Windows 7 along with Office 10. I have downloaded a number of zip files into Download location. • Problem with Photoshop CS6. If I open a file using Camera RAW

    I have a new problem with Photoshop CS6.  If I open a file using Camera RAW, and process it as usual, CS6 doesn't want to save it the way it used to.  I don't know if I changed something by accident or not.
    Here's what happens now: After opening from ACR to CS6 and completinhg all of my work, I choose "Save as..."  The save as window opens showing the file name and format.  The default format seems to be .PSD.  I use the drop down to select .jpg.  The file saves normally as a .jpg.  When I go to close the image from, I get a new prompt asking, "Save changes to Adobe Photoshop document DSC_xxxx.NEF before closing?
    I looked up at the file name in the bar above the work space and noticed that it does NOT change from "DSC_xxxx.NEF" to "DSC_xxxx.jpg" after I have saved the file as a .jpg,in my webesite  but it always used to do that.  This adds a few extra steps when closing a document and it really slows me down.
    In fact, I wouldn't swear to this, but I think it used to save to .jpg by default, without me specifying this.
    I don't see a setting in the preferences for what to use as the default file format for saving, so I don't know where to change it back.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

  • I am unable to open raw files from my Canon T1i in Adobe Camera Raw of my version CS3 of Photoshop.  I have tried to update my ACR by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe website but I am still unable to open raw files, just JPEG.  Is there a way to use

    I am unable to open raw files taken on my Canon Rebel T1i in my version of Photoshop CS3.  When I import raw files into Bridge they come up as patches with CR2 on them and when clicked on, a notice comes up stating that Photoshop does not recognize these files.  I tried to update my Adobe Camera Raw by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe Website, but when I clicked on the plus-in, I got another message that Photoshop does not recognize this file.  I spoke with a representative from Canon who said that I could not update CS3 and that I should subscribe to the Cloud.  I would prefer to use my CS3, if possible.  Can anyone advise me what to do?

    The T1i was first supported by Camera Raw 5.4 which is only compatible with CS4 and later
