Forcing Exchange to check SPF

Hi,
i receive emails from outside in my exchange edge server (2010 SP3) with my accepted domain and they are definitely spams
assume test.com is my registered domain and defined in accepted domains and a spammer by address ([email protected]) sends am email into our organization but edge server cannot detect that
so i think creating SPF records for my domains can help me with this (and many other issues)
now two questions :
1- Am I right on this solution?
2- how can I tell my exchange server and force it (the edge servers) to check SPF records for incoming mails? is that done by default ? (which I do not think so) or should be activated somehow ?

1. You are smart on this solution : )
The SPF record enables a receiving messaging system to query and determine whether the sending server is authorized to send from a domain.
2. Based on my knowledge, all the incoming mails will be checked by SPF records. It is a by design behavior.

Hi all,
I have an issue that deals with Authorization check using a role. I have to know if there is any way to make a Role force to check if an entry exists in a Ztable.
Eg. A User is assigned a role Z:Ztable_check. Can we now force this Role to somehow check for a particular entry in a Ztable which has a Username and its Corresponding Authorized Cost center. Can the role check from the Ztable and allow the user to view only those cost centers that he is allowed to.
Don't know if this is even theoretically possible.

<b>The SAP Authorization Concept
Authorization checks are a means of protecting functions or objects in the R/3 System. The programmer of the function determines where and how these checks are made, while the user administrator determines (within the framework defined by the programmer) who can execute a function or access an object.
The terms central to the SAP authorization concept are:
Authorization field
This is the smallest unit against which checks can be made. The programmer can create authorization fields by selecting Tools → ABAP Workbench → Development → Other tools → Authorization objs → Fields.
Example: ACTVT and CUSTTYPE.
Authorization object
An authorization object groups together 1 to 10 authorization fields which can then be checked as a combination. The programmer can create authorization fields by selecting Tools → ABAP Workbench → Development → Other tools → Authorization objs → Objects.
Example: The authorization objekt S_TRVL_BKS groups together the authorization fields ACTVT and CUSTTYPE.
Authorization

Authorization profile

The user administrator creates authorizations by selecting Tools → Administration → Maintain users → Profiles.
User master record
Your user master record is checked when you logon to the R/3 system. Through the authorization profiles, this provides restricted access to the functions and objects of the R/3 System. The user administrator creates authorizations by selecting Tools → Administration → Maintain users → Users.
Authorization check
The programmer can perform authorization checks with the ABAP command AUTHORITY-CHECK by specifying the value to be checked for each authorization field defined. The system then scans the profiles in the user master record for the authorizations specified. If one of the authorizations found for all fields of the authorization object covers the values specified by AUTHORITY-CHECK, the check was successful.
Example: Check whether the user is allowed to change the postings of business customers:

If the authorization S_TRVL_CUS1 exists in the user's master record, the authorization check is successful. However, if the authorization S_TRVL_CUS2 exists, but not the authorization S_TRVL_CUS1, the check fails.
Authorization assignment
The system administrator is responsible for assigning user master records with the correct authorizations. You should use the Profile Generator to maintain authorization profiles. However, you can also change them manually. Each authorization object contains authorizations. These are grouped together in authorization profiles such that each authorization profile represents a job description, for example 'flight reservations clerk'. You assign one or more authrization profiles to each user master record. You can assign an authorization to as many authorization profiles as you like, and an authorization profile to as many composite profiles and users as you like. Composite profiles are used in manual authorization maintenance, and form a further division in the authorization structure. However, they are not strictly necessary.

I solved it by erasing my phone completely (in settings/reset) and restored it from an iTunes Backup.

this is the command you should run in Exchange powershell:
Get-mailbox -OrganizationalUnit "Your OU" | Get-MailboxStatistics| select DisplayName, TotalItemSize, Database, ServerName| export-csv

Replase Your OU with OU you wish to get statistics.
If you want to convert to MB then use this:
Get-mailbox -OrganizationalUnit "Your OU" | Get-MailboxStatistics|
select DisplayName, {$_.TotalItemSize.Value.ToMB()}, Database, ServerName| export-csv

Applet�s ResourceBundle forces ClassLoader to check network

Hello,
I have an applet that uses 3rd party jar (that I can�t modify) which in turn uses ResourceBundle for i18n. I�ve mention that applet performs multiple resource lookup over the network for files that don�t exist there; this is expected behavior however it is slows down applet significantly during initialization phase.
I�m trying to find a way to force my applet to perform only jar lookup and prohibit any over the network query. Obviously that 3rd party jar was my code I could simply pass my custom ClassLoader into ResourceBundle which would do the trick�
Is there a way to do it by signing and �sealing� an applet? Alternatively, can I supply custom ClassLoader to work JVM wide?

How can we force firefox to check its trusted certificate store on every request?

We have an application on localhost that gets installed from our page. We happen to be running over HTTPS. We wrote code in our installed application to add the certificate to firefox's trusted store. The page that provides the installer for this app then autodetects that it's installed by making HTTPS requests to it. Only, it doesn't work in Firefox since Firefox needs to be restarted so that it reads its trusted store.
Is there any way for us to make firefox read its store again and not rely on a cached result?

Hi, I asked on the #security channel about this and they said the work around for this is to add the certificate through the Firefox Certificate Menu in the Preferences/Options menu under Security.
However they are also interested in what makes it difficult for you to use a certificate from a CA that Firefox trusts by default? As this is something we are looking to improve on. I have asked them to follow this thread for your feedback.

I will be forced to implement extended health-ckecks for Exchange 2010 CAS Servers. So the cisco design guide does not help
Exchange2010 CAS Service needs ntlm auth for many services by default. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb331973.aspx
Now with SP1 also for pop3 and imap4. I have not found any option to use ntlm by default.
The next problem is encryption.
Health-checks with encryption are not integrated in cisco ace 4710 by default.
As an alternative to try a scripted health-check with tcl script is an option but needs more investigation and is timeconsuming.
I watched for other vendors solution, they use e.g. external imported shell scripts with curl (curl -s --ntlm -k -X POST ...) to do a health-check with ntlm. That would be fine at the moment to beat the requirement of extendet health-checks.
But maybe it is only ntlm verion 1, I do not know what happens if it comes to ntlm version 2.
Kerberos authentication is a much bigger problem, but at the moment not a requirement.
Does anybody has some hints or also a tcl script for exchange health-checks ?

Adobe exchange panel does not load in cc applications

I cannot launch the Adobe Exchange Panel in Photoshop or Illustrator. The option to launch this extension is not available in my menu. In Photoshop "Extensions is grayed out". In Illustrator it is not grayed out but it is simply not populated. I have tested this on my laptop and it works just fine there.
I have pasted the above paragraph from a separate thread in a different forum. I was directed to this forum by an adobe staff member.
Thanks in advance for any help with this as the forums are the only support adobe provides for this issue. I think the issue may be a corruption in my extension manager somewhere in the Windows Registry. Using Windows 7 64-bit SP1

Can I ask where you obtained Photoshop CC from? Were you part of any prerelease program?
Can you please check these folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEPServiceManager4\extensions
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CEPServiceManager4\extensions
and tell us if either one (or both) contains a folder called "AdobeExchange", and whether it contains anything.
It seems obvious, but please install any updates for Photoshop available in the Creative Cloud application. I believe there have been a few CC updates released so far - so it would be worthwhile restarting your computer to force a fresh check for updates to make sure you have them all.
Something to try would be downloading the Exchange Panel as a ZXP from here:
https://www.adobeexchange.com/
and then installing the panel using Extension Manager CC. Note that Extension Manager CS6 will not install the Exchange Panel for CC applications - it needs to be Extension Manager CC.

What am I trying to do?
I have tried installing Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 7 Setup on a fresh install of Windows Server 2012 R2 but it gets stuck when running the setup exe on Step 8 of 14 “Mailbox Transport Service” I have included full
error logs at the bottom of the page but the basics are in order it will throw which loop around are:

Exchange is currently running in the envirmonet on 2010 Sp3 I am installing 2013 CU7 fresh so I can migrate the databases over.

2 X DC on domain and forest functional level 2008R2 both writable
1 X fresh install of Windows 2012 R2 which is domain joined
What have I tried?
Checked Ipv6 is enabled on all DC NICS and Existing Exchange Servers
Rebooted every server
Run setup as Administrator
My account is part of the domain Enterprise Admin group
Tried adding "Exchange Server" or "Exchange Enterprise Servers" to the group policy and doing the relevant gpupdate /force and reboot :
Computer Configuration Windows Settings
Security Settings + Local Policies
User Rights Assignment Mange auditing and security log
Turned off firewall on DC and Exchange Server even stopped the service
Turned off all AV on the DC and Exchange Server
Checked I could telnet to global catalog servers on port 3268 which I can
Checked the global catalog records existed in DNS which they all do
Done the obvious ping tests all round which confirms connectivity
Schema has been prepared using appropriate commands before running the setup exe

Can I ask where you obtained Photoshop CC from? Were you part of any prerelease program?
Can you please check these folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEPServiceManager4\extensions
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CEPServiceManager4\extensions
and tell us if either one (or both) contains a folder called "AdobeExchange", and whether it contains anything.
It seems obvious, but please install any updates for Photoshop available in the Creative Cloud application. I believe there have been a few CC updates released so far - so it would be worthwhile restarting your computer to force a fresh check for updates to make sure you have them all.
Something to try would be downloading the Exchange Panel as a ZXP from here:
https://www.adobeexchange.com/
and then installing the panel using Extension Manager CC. Note that Extension Manager CS6 will not install the Exchange Panel for CC applications - it needs to be Extension Manager CC.

Exchange user information not updating from AD

I just recently updated Job Titles, Location, and Phone numbers for users in Active directory. For some reason
not all of the information is be transferred to Exchange. I noticed this because it isn't updating in the GAL either. I went to Exchange Management console and the information isn't there either. I look at AD on that same machine and it's all there. What would
be causing Exchange not to sync this information. How can I check to see what is broken. I'm not really know how this is supposed to work.

First off, Exchange has no directory information of its own - all directory information that it has, it gets from the Windows Active Directory. It will hold permission information for a time period, but no other directory settings are saved automatically.
So if you are changing things in the Active Directory and you aren't seeing it in Exchange, there are two possible reasons: 1) what you are changing in AD isn't the same as what you think you are changing in Exchange, and 2) your Exchange system is reading
from one domain controller and you are making the changes while connected to another (and directory replication hasn't completed). In order to check for #1, you say you changed the fields above - what do you see if you change those same fields on the
Exchange system? Do this on one test account, then open the account in ADSIEdit to see what all of the fields are set to. If the reason is #2, wait 15 minutes and see if the information is updated.
As for Exchange not updating the GAL, the GAL is taken straight from the Windows Active Directory in real time, so we're back to #1 and #2 above - for the most part. However, the Offline Address Book that you see in Outlook is only updated (by default)
late at night and downloaded when Outlook is first opened the next day. So if you are checking for changes in Outlook, Outlook will use the Offline Address Book by default, but you can force it to check with the online address list on a case-by-case
basis by changing the address list. So make sure you are selecting one of the non-default address lists to find the information, not the default.

Mail, Exchange, Acitve Directory and Single-Sign On Issues

I have a brand new MacBook Air with Mavericks. 10.9.3.
We are using a single sign on account setup for our machines. I enter my exchange log in details to access my account on my computer. It's labeled as a managed mobile account. When I open Mail, it takes forever to connect with the exchange server and download and sync new email. The activity monitor shows it constantly running. I send an email and it takes minutes until it actually sends. When I try to shut down mail I usually have to force quit it to close the app because it's doing some kind of syncing with the server.
I have all the same settings on a Mac Mini running 10.9.3 except I'm using a local user/admin sign-on. No issue there. So I think it's something with the single sign on on my Air. Any help would be appreciated!

Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

In Dreamweaver CC don't see Exchange

When I click "Window > Extensions" I only get (Extensions Available) with the parens. When I click it nothing happens. I think I'm supposed to see Exchange in there. What's up?

Removing Public Folders after migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

Recently we migrated from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. We did not migrate Public Folders and are retiring them from Exchange altogether. I shut Exchange 2007 off for a couple of weeks to ensure 2013 functions properly and it does so we're
ready to decommission Exchange 2007. I was able to remove all the mailbox databases without a glitch. Using the EMC I click to remove the Public Folder database from Exchange 2007 and get the following message:
Error: The public folder database "server\storage group - Public Folders\ Public Folder Database" contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database.
Any help appreciated.

If you run the following command does it come back with any public folders?
Get-PublicFolderStatistics -Server "SERVERNAME" | fl
