Forecasting the need of spare parts in Demantra

Hello everyone,
I would really appreciate if anyone who's had dealt with the following issue help us,
The thing is - we want to forecast 3 different kind of items:
1. Main items we sell - for examples - machines.
2. Accessories for machines we sell. A certian accessory can be used with several type of machines. (Cables, Batteries etc.)
3. Spare parts we need to keep in stock in order to provide repair services for our customers.
Each machine we sell has a different set of spare parts used when repairing.
The forecast for machines is a typical demantra model forecast.(sales forecast by the book).
My question is regarding the forecast for the spare parts we need for repairs.
We know that demand for a certain spare part is influenced by how many machines which use that part were sold to customers.
Also - it depends how common is the use of that part when fixing those machines that need service.
(some parts get broken more frequently etc).
Also since we provide fixed price insurance for customers, they dont "see" spare parts price as a factor.
(they dont naturally "buy" the parts).
How can demantra tie the forecast for the spare part to sales history of machines? Can demantra forecast service ?(which behaves alot different than sales). It is obvious that forecasting demand for spare parts with looking only at each part's history will not provide best forecast results.
Any insights anyone?
I'm pretty sure most implementations faced that issue - regarding the forecast of parts for service -
Would appreciate any reply,
Thanks alot,
Aaron.

Hi Aaron,
Per my understanding, you sell machines as well as their accessories. So forecasting for them is by the book where you would be using the demand for machine as well as for accessories..
As far as the service parts' forecasting is concerned, Oracle has a seperate module for Service & Spare parts planning based on Demantra's forecasting engine.
Spare Parts Planning(SPP) has the following features:
1. Forecast accurately with built in Demantra's Forecasting engine
2. Replenish spares based on Single plan model
3. Distribute spares using SPP's plan
4. One single UI to carry out all 3 above processes for improved productivity
5. Forecasting based on Shipments, Spares Usage, and Returns
6. Plan based on Service parts failure rates calculations
7. Integrated with various APS modules like Demantra DM, CP, IO, and ASCP.
From demantra's perspective you may try out the following:
Since you provide fixed price insurance for customers, you would definitely be keeping track of the service provided like what spare was replaced and probably how many of the same spare have been replaced for a particular customer over a period of time. Also as per the insurance you must have specified that a particular spare would be replaced only x number of times within a span of say 6 months or 12 months.
You may utilize these information to classify the spares based on the frequency of use viz. very frequent, medium frequent and less frequent and associate some factor to it.You can club this information as well as the spare parts demand coming out of the BOM (bill of material) of the machine along with each part's history and come up with a forecast that can be more relied upon.
I hope this helps.

Shekhar

    Hello,
I would like to know the exact name and P/N of the -Touch Panel Control Assembly- for the HP Pavilion dv3510nr?.
or is it -Touch Panel Kit-?
or is it -Multimedia Touch Control Panel-?
Recently, mine got physically damaged and none of the touch buttons work, I cannot even turn the WiFi on. So I need to replace it, but I cannot find this spare part anywhere.
It does not appear on the list of spare parts for this laptop, with any of those names.
Does anybody know where can I find this spare part?
    Thanks very much.

In case it was not very clear, the spare part that I am referring to is the panel placed above the keyboard, that has touch sensitive buttons for multimedia functions and for enabling the wireless device.
    Buttons appear In this order:
    MediaSmart button
    Audio on/off button
    Volume control
    Skip backward button
    Play/Pause button
    Skip forward button

  • Non-authorized HP agent in Yemen sold the spare parts sent to me by authorized HP agent in Dubai

    Hi,
First of all, you should not ban me like what you have done before since I have named the person's name who reps the non-authorized HP agent in Yemen.
My case hasn't been solved so far. The authorized HP agent in the UAE has been trying to solve my problem, however, since I am not residing in the UAE, the HP agent couldn't send my the spare parts(cooling fan, power jack, battery) I need. However, the HP agent in the UAE told me that he shipped the spare parts to the non-authorized HP agent in Yemen. And the HP agent in Dubai emailed me a message containing the quotation of spare parts as below:
When I called that non-authorized HP agent in Yemen, he told me that he sold the spare parts the HP agent in the UAE sent.
What do you say about that?
The HP agent in Yemen is not authorized by HP company since that store chosen as a non-authorized HP agent in Yemen sells many spare parts for any brands(Dell, Toshiba, ... and so on).
So, you must solve my problem instead of banning me when I named the person who working for the Non-authorized HP agent in Yemen. If my motherboard has been defective since the excessive heat, then the non-authorized store who claims that he reps HP agent in Yemen would be responsible since the HP agent in the middle east(UAE) sent the person the spare parts I needed according to my case number. However, the stupid person who claim that he work for HP sold those spare parts to others, although the HP agent in Duabai insist on saying he shipped the spare parts for me.

  • MRP design for Service Spare Parts

    Hello,
I am in process of designing the MRP run for service spare parts for construction and mining equipments business. There is a central warehouse and small depots.
Help me out to design following MRP requirements.
    1.     MRP process is expected to consider stocks at all these locations i.e central ware house and depots. Optimization across locations and stock transfers to be considered.
    2.     MRP process is expected to consider open PO requirements.
    3.     MRP process is expected to consider in-house service orders reservations requirements.
    4.     MRP process is expected to consider open sales spare parts order demand from dealers.
    5.     Certain formula base forecast requirements for specific spare part
If SAP standard solution is there or any work around is expected.
    Regards
    Sanjeev Dhavan

    1. MRP process is expected to consider stocks at all these locations i.e central ware house and depots. Optimization across locations and stock transfers to be considered.
    - MRP can be run for a whole plant or single material or MRP area(group together some storage location). I hope your warehouse is a plant so you can run the MRP at your plant(ware house) level.
    2. MRP process is expected to consider open PO requirements.
    - You should use consumption based planning but you need to identify what type of MRP you want to use.
        - reorder point planning     - forecast based planning      - time phased planning
        - in general all the above MRP will consider the open PO / PRs
    3. MRP process is expected to consider in-house service orders reservations requirements.
    -  this is possible by selecting proper MRP type, for ex. if you want to use reorder point planning, then you should use V1(Reorder point planning with external requirements) which includes sales order and manual reservation in net req calculation.
    4. MRP process is expected to consider open sales spare parts order demand from dealers.
    - Refer point 3
    5. Certain formula base forecast requirements for specific spare part
    - do you want to use forecast based MRP? what formula you want to use?

  • In house repair - Maintaining template for Spare parts & Services

    Hi,
After creating an item of type "Diagnostics", I want to  choose additional "Repairs+Spare Parts" .
Where can I maintain this template so the Spare Parts get proposed.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
If you want the repairs and spare parts to be proposed by the system, then you need to maintian them in the respective relationships of the main product.
Maintain the relevant services and spares in the relationship (Services / Spare Parts) of the main product and try to create a new order and check.

  • How to manage spare parts and production parts seperately

    Hello,
I want to keep some spare parts for services only ,though some of them also used in production .
then how can I implement this in SAP system, how the stock of spare parts not influence the forecast of the production( means these parts only can be used in services)
how to separate these parts in Warehouse in system and physically.
    Thanks,
    Helai

    Helai,
If it were MY company, I would
    1.  Put the spares into a diff storage locn
    2.  Enter Safety stock for the quantity I want kept in 'spares' inventory
    3.  Use an availability check in which Safety stock is not relevant for ATP for these parts.
However, this does not meet all of YOUR stated business requirements.  For this, you have to use MRP areas, and have the 'spares' storage location assigned to a different MRP area.  You can then plan them completely separately from your production parts.

  • Capitalization of spare parts

    Hi,
Spare parts are acquired via logistic workflow. At reception, they are entered in inventory. Accounting department verifies on monthly basis the list of spare parts but has to identify which one has to be capitalized.
How could you send spare parts sitting in inventory to asset register? If the spare part is capitalized but need to be replaced/ repaired, how could we change the value of the asset? How could we track the spare part if they are capitalized? How could we follow the spare part as soon as it is capitalized?
Any recommendation on the capitalization of spare parts?
    Thanks
    Sabine

    Hi Anna,
Thanks for your answer. In fact, we try to see if we need to capitalize or not spare parts. I know that you suggested to keep them in inventory .
Here, they try to decide at the beginning of the process if they need to capitalize or not the spare part. There are 2 cases:
case 1: spare part bought at the same time as main asset to which there are related to (= critical spare part) and brought into use at the same time as main asset.
case 2: spare part bought for repair or replacement
I guess that we should capitalize the spare part in the first case. But if we capitalize the spare part, we could not do anymore an inventory management and follow the spare part. This is not very convenient.
In the second case, we need to decide if we are dealing with major spare parts and define some criteria to identify what "major" means (e.g. useful life higher than 1 year)... but this is very difficult to identify.
In the last case, it is more complicate because we probably go through the maintenance order but how do we capitalize then? If the costs are in stock then they can't be also in asset. Does this mean that we need to do some financial adjustments?
    Any idea?
    Thanks
    Sabine

  • Costing spare parts in reporting point

    Hi,
during back flush how can we track the price for spare parts like washers , while the situation is like this .. ie in one reporting point 5 washer used and in another reporting point 10 washers were used .
How the quantity can be mentioned during backflush
    Regards
    s.kanna

    Hi Anand,
here the situation is we got aroung 1000 components in abom.in that we got washers  with certain qty as per standard,
But in shop floor during manufacturing according to free space extra washers were added to tighten the assemply.here washer qty get changed .
while running cost estimation as per BOM cost is getting calculated but our client says hw will u estimate the extra washer used in certain assembly.
More over they require each assembly should be costed according to exact usage of washers to that particular assembly.
here scenario is REM....period end closing....
we are following cost estimation with washer qty as per BOM.

  • Need field and table for spare part material and price for a given material

    Hi,
In need to create a report with following fields:-
Customer           Material          spare part material            spare part description             price                   currency.
From which table and field I can get all this information. Please guide me.
Hint.  cl30n transaction for material managemant.
             vk13 transaction for price maintenace.
    Regards.

CL30N is a general transaction that can be used for any classification, but material master maintenance is usually MM01/MM02 or MM41/MM42
Material description can be taken from table MAKT
    customer from table KNA1
The question is what you are going to analyse? where do material and customer tie together? do you do the analysis on sales orders VBAK and VBAP ? or invoices  VBRK and VBRP? or customer material info record KNMT?
or do you capture this info in classification? then you get the values from AUSP

  • Issue regarding implementing the PM Spare Parts Scanning process

    Dear friends,
I have the following issue. It seams that the client, who want to implement the scanning procedure for the PM Spare Parts, can not do this with wireless scanners if the maintenance of the spare parts is done with Inventory Management means and has requested to implement Warehouse Management integration. The fact is that I know that IM can be use. And I know, also, that the basic needs for IM use is that the materials have activated the Batch Management and, the scanning is based on batch bar code/material bar code, together with - for GR - PO bar code and, for GI - the WO bar code. But the issue regarding the wireless baffles me. Please, can you tell me what is the way for setting the wireless connection for the scanners in IM? Thank you very much for your kindness.

    hi,
It basically depends how your business process is designed for producing Spare Parts before they are reworked.
rework order can be cerated without material with reference to original production order whcih is responsible for proeducing that SFG.

  • Which spare part do I need?

    Hi all,
Have just broken my iPod touch 4th gen white. The screen is smashed up pretty bad but the iPod still works absolutely fine. Which spare part should I be looking for? LCD screen? Digitizer? Glass? I haven't a clue what to look for if I'm honest. The spares on eBay mostly say "Digitizer replacement, not LCD screen".
    Thanks.

From the teardown of the 4G iPod the screen is one assembly:
Use this guide to replace your front panel assembly. The front panel is not separable from the LCD. A new front panel assembly will give you a new front glass panel, digitizer, and LCD.
    Here is the part.

i had lost the grey, round shaped rubber placed under my magic trackpad. i think it detached from the trackpad body and lost. where can i get this small spare part as i couldn't find this small spare part in apple store?

Wish I could be more positive but as far as I can see, the solution is to make something for yourself and tape it on.  It appears they do not supply a proper replacement and Ifixit, the usual people say they don't have them.
Here is a company that supply rubber feet.   It may be worth contacting them and asking if they have something that will do the job.
