Forgotten Admin Password AND Other password

Hi, I have just purchased a new iMac but now, having had a long time away from it, attempted to start my old iMac but have forgotten the admin password! I remember the figures but not the text even with a reminder! Is there anyway I can open my old iMac as i need data from it & will want to sync it with new one to take data from it?  Am I an idiot or what?

Not sure what the 'Other' password is you mention, but you can reset the Admin password as noted in this User tip (following the instructions under On Recovery):
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4101
To start in Recovery Mode restart holding down Command + r

  • Forgotten Admin password

I created a new Admin Password for my Son's Mini and promtly forgot it. I have tried inserting the Install Disk and holding down the C key at startup but it never takes me to a utilities screen. I have the system automatically logging in as my Son and am afraid that is why it is not letting me reset the password. Any suggestions?

  • How can I block a website without using an admin account and other accounts for my children?

i want to block a particular website so my children wont see it, but i cant seem to find a way to restrict it without having to create different accounts; i would like to just block it on this account, like on the restricted sites option on internet explorer, is there any way?

For just simple site blocking, try BlockSite: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3145/
You can password protect BlockSite, but it is possible to bypass.
For full parental controls, there is FoxFilter: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4351/ - however this seems to be fee supported.

  • Stored Procedure to Get Admin Users and Other Users

    Hey,
I am new to stored procedures in Oracle and would really appreciate the help! I have two tables:
    Users_
    ID USERNAME - PARENT_GROUP - IS_ADMIN
    1 jsmith - 1 - 0
    2 brogerson - 1 - 1
    3 jloren - 2 - 0
    Groups*
    ID - GROUPNAME
    1 - ITUsers
    2 - AcctUsers
I would like to create a procedure that accepts a users username and returns every user in their group and the user id, or if the user is marked IS_ADMIN, I want the procedure to return all users in all groups.
How would I do this? Ideally I would like to funnel the result into a DataGridView in C#.
    Thank you in advance,

... How could I expand your view (without namespace) to include just the groupname into the list if they are a regular user, or all of the group names in the list if they are an admin?Sorry, I don't understand. I thought that was exactly what the code I posted did.
Since I don't have versions of your tables, I'll use Scott's tables to illustrate.
This view does what I think you want:
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW  p_users
    AS
    SELECT       u.ename, u.job, u.deptno
    ,       g.dname
    ,       pu.ename   AS p_ename
    FROM       scott.emp     pu
    JOIN       scott.dept     g     ON     pu.deptno     = g.deptno
                          OR     pu.job          = 'MANAGER'
    JOIN       scott.emp     u     ON     u.deptno     = g.deptno
;On the rows where p_ename is not the name of a MANAGER (SCOTT, for example), we see only the people who work in the same department (deptn=20, dname='RESEARCH') as p_ename:
    SELECT     *
    FROM     p_users
    WHERE     p_ename     = 'SCOTT'
    ENAME      JOB           DEPTNO DNAME          P_ENAME
    SMITH      CLERK             20 RESEARCH       SCOTT
    JONES      MANAGER           20 RESEARCH       SCOTT
    SCOTT      ANALYST           20 RESEARCH       SCOTT
    ADAMS      CLERK             20 RESEARCH       SCOTT
FORD       ANALYST           20 RESEARCH       SCOTTBut on the rows where p_ename is a MANAGER (JONES for example) we see everybody, no matter what their department is:
    SELECT     *
    FROM     p_users
    WHERE     p_ename     = 'JONES'
    ENAME      JOB           DEPTNO DNAME          P_ENAME
    SMITH      CLERK             20 RESEARCH       JONES
    ALLEN      SALESMAN          30 SALES          JONES
    WARD       SALESMAN          30 SALES          JONES
    JONES      MANAGER           20 RESEARCH       JONES
    MARTIN     SALESMAN          30 SALES          JONES
    BLAKE      MANAGER           30 SALES          JONES
    CLARK      MANAGER           10 ACCOUNTING     JONES
    SCOTT      ANALYST           20 RESEARCH       JONES
    KING       PRESIDENT         10 ACCOUNTING     JONES
    TURNER     SALESMAN          30 SALES          JONES
    ADAMS      CLERK             20 RESEARCH       JONES
    JAMES      CLERK             30 SALES          JONES
    FORD       ANALYST           20 RESEARCH       JONES
MILLER     CLERK             10 ACCOUNTING     JONESBy the way, table g is the view is needed only if you want the view to include columns found only in the groups table.
Otherwise, we can do the self-join directly between two copies of the users table (or scott.emp, as in the example):
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW  p_users
    AS
    SELECT       u.ename, u.job, u.deptno
    ,       pu.ename   AS p_ename
    FROM       scott.emp     pu
    JOIN       scott.emp     u     ON     pu.deptno     = u.deptno
                          OR     pu.job          = 'MANAGER'
;I hope that answers your question.
If not, post an example of what you'd like to do. For example
"I like to have a view such that a query like this:
    SELECT ... FROM p_users WHERE ...
    would produce ...
but if I change the WHERE clause to ...
    then it would produce ..."
If you want examples using small versions of your own tables, post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements so I can create tables like yours.

  • HT202280 resetting admin password

I need help resetting my admin password. I have 4 computer logins  on one computer I merged them on one big imac. When I set what I thought was the admin password, that password is for the other 3. The admin I forgot what it is. Trying to keep others from being able to access one. Well that did not work! Help!
I understand there is a way to do it using my apple ID How?

Your AppleID and your administrator passwords have nothing to do with one another. If you cannot remember your Administrator's password then reset it by following the instructions in:

  • Can anyone help.  For security reasons I reset my admin password on my Macbook Pro a few days ago and didn't write it down.  Now I've forgotten it.  I didnt receive an installation disc when I purchased my Macbook Pro online - it didn't come with one-help

Please see question above, but also note, I have the Applecare Protection Plan but am unable to get through to anyone on a weekend and I desperately need to use my laptop this weekend.  I can't log in at all now as I've forgotten my admin password.  A few weeks ago I also changed the password on my husband's new MacBook Pro and again forgot the password.  I spoke to someone at Apple and they helped me to reset it within minutes, by restarting the computer holding Command+something else (I can't remember what it was). A black screen with writing came up and I had to type in something like "password" (not sure exactly).  Anyway, this was a very quick and efficient process but I didn't write it down unfortunately.  Does anyone out there know what to do?  Thanks in anticipation

  • HT1752 I have forgotten my admin password and need to create another user

I have forgotten my admin password and need to create another user. Have no disks to boot from!!

You need an installer disc in order to reset an admin password. I don't know if the following will work on your system, but give it a try:
You can also reset the password by printing out (or writing down) and carefully following these steps.
First, find the short name of the admin user on the machine. The easiest way of doing this is by looking at what their directory is called in the Users folder.
Now, start up the computer while holding down Cmd-S. It should boot into a command line. (If it doesn't, you may need to reset the firmware password, which is detailed elsewhere.)
    Type these exact lines:
    mount -uw /
    ifconfig lo0 up
    cd /var/db/netinfo
    netinfod -s local
Now you'll need that short name. (You did write it down, didn't you?) Type "passwd", a space, and the short name of the admin. For example, if the admin was - rather prosaically - called "admin", you'd type "passwd admin".
The computer will now prompt you to change the password for "admin" (or whatever the short name was). Go ahead and type a new password.
    Now, type:
    sync
    reboot
and the machine will reboot. The admin password should now be changed.
