  • How to attach files to a .pdf

    hi!
    i have a question regarding the atachment of files to a .pdf.
    i am a dentist specialising in implants and working in different practices.
    Unfortunately this comes with several problems.
    1. There is no dentist software which deals with the needs of implantologists. instead of ready made forms where i can put in values i have to write everything important using a simple texteditor whic is built into the practice software.
    2. as dentist software works on a server client principle and every client license has to be paid seperately i don't have a clinet on my laptop (the softwares are usually windows programms anyway) and even if i had because it is server client i would have to do all the work in the surgery which wouldn't work as i will have to analyze models at home and other things like this.
    i started designing forms in illustrator for me to use and to scan into the practice software
    then i put al the forms together in one pdf
    now i added text fields to the pdf that i wont have to print anymore and can import a copy of the pdf into the software of the practice.
    my next step would be to attach files to the pdf.
    i am dealing with different filetypes (raw data from my camera, tiff files from the xray maschine and dicom files from 3d scanning units). it would be great if there wasa way to make my pdf being able to attach files to it. there is no need to be able to display the files (i doubt that acrobat is capable of displaying raw or dicom anyway) i just want to store them with the pdf and if necessary export them from the pdf again that they can be watched in the applications that support this kind of filetype. if this was possible i could basically take the whole case home with me and after preparing just have one pdf which i import to the practice computer which contains all data.
    is there any way to do this? it would be great if i could creat a pdf which allows me to do this with an acrobat reader so there would be no need to take my laptop to the practice.
    thanks for the help!
    best regards
    jens

    I have a document that is a PDF to send and need to attach an appendix, as an icon that can be opened by the reader, within the PDF.  I'm not sure if I need a certain version of Adobe to do this or if it's just me not being able to figure it out    Thanks for any tips!

    Please check in KON* series table in SE16N transaction. I guess KOHN table may help you out. You can see other similar tables.
    In any one of the table you will find validity data.

  • Attaching files to the PDF

    Hi guys,
    I would like to add attachments to the PDF form. I found some tutorial using the menu item with the following code:
    try
    app.execMenuItem("AddFileAttachment");
    catch(e)
    xfa.host.messageBox("Cannot add an attachment: " + e);
    This works fine but not in the Acrobat Reader. For my business case the following two options can be possible:
    a) using the attachment functionality of Acrobat (e.g. using the menu item)
    b) transporting the binary data in the XML content of the PDF form
    To a)
    Is there another programmatical way to attach files to the PDF supported by the Acrobat Reader?
    To b)
    Does someone of you know how to read the binary content of a file using Java Script and adding it into the data XML? With this solution, the data can be extracted using the Adobe Document Service. Would be a fine solution.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Paul,
    thanks for you post. Sounds really good. But how can this be done?
    Could you please give me a hint?
    Thanks very much.

  • Attaching files to a pdf in Adobe Reader

    Hi
    I found these instructions on the web on how to attach a file to a PDF document, however, when i get to step 3 (underlined in the instructions below)  "Click the "Add" button at the top pof the attachment navigation panel to open the "Add Attchment" dialog box.
    I do not see an "Add" button available.
    I want our users to be able to open our forms and attach scanned documents onto the PDF form in order to submit documentation related to their benefits.  Why do I not see an "Add" button?
    How do I get an "Add" button.  The version we are using is Adobe Reader 9.3.  The instructions below are for Adobe 8, but if this can be done in Adobe 8, then i can't imagine it can not be done in Adobe 9.3?
    Thank.

    How to Attach a File to a PDF Document
    By an eHow Contributor
    I want to do this! What's This?
    You can easily attach files to your Adobe Acrobat PDF document by using the attachment navigational panel. This panel allows you to quickly attach any type of file to your PDF document if you need to send a corresponding file along with your PDF document. Find out how you can utilize the power of Adobe Acrobat by attaching other files to your PDF document.
    Difficulty: Easy
    Instructions
    Things You'll Need:
    Adobe Acrobat 8
    Start Adobe Acrobat, and open a PDF document to which you would like to attach an additional file.
    Choose the "View" menu, point to "Navigation Panels" and click to select "Attachments" so a checkmark appears before the selection and the attachment navigation panel opens at the bottom of the screen.
    Click the "Add" button at the top of the attachment navigation panel to open the "Add Attachment" dialog box.
    Use the "Look in" drop-down list and click on your computer files in the "Attach a File" dialog box to browse to find the file you have saved and want to attach to the open PDF document.
    Click to select the file you want to attach, and click the "Open" button to close the "Add Attachment" dialog box and add the file to the attachment navigation panel. The file is now attached to the open PDF document and will be included any time the PDF document is opened or emailed.

    Hi Graffiti
    Collaboratively some co workers and I figured out a roundabout way to attach files in adobe reader (not the full blow adobe acrobat reader).
    Via Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro I created a blank form with the "comment/mark up" tools enabled.  Then I merged that file with the other PDF form that was formatted with fields, radial buttons etc.
    I had to create the blank form for the attachments separately because if I tried to enable the "comment/mark up' tool on the form with fields and radial buttons it disabled the fields.
    Once created separately and then merged the functionality worked.  Does that make sense?
    The comment markup tool then allowed me to attach files via the "attach file as a comment" option.
    With all that said.... I would like to know if this functionality works in all versions of Adobe reader and if not at which level it will not.
    In addition, is there a way to make sure that the "comment/mark up tool bar" automatically populates when the form is opened.  This would be helpful, as otherwise will have to walk our users through additional steps.
    Do you have any ideas???
    Thanks for your feedback!

  • Attach files to a pdf with Adobe LiveCyle Designer 7.1

    Hi, I need to add a button to a form so that it allows me to attach archives to the pdf, somebody knows if this is possible and in that case since it becomes?

    In my case I have a drop-down list of files with preloaded filenames to attach. Here is the code that works for me on a click of button.
    var selectFileName = form1.subform.DropDownList1.rawValue;
    if (selectFileName != "Please Select") {
    var doc = event.target;
    doc.importDataObject(selectFileName);
    var MyPar1 = doc.getDataObject(selectFileName);
    var filename = MyPar1.path;
    After you click the button it open a windows dialog box asking you to choose the file and adds the attachment to the attachment pane in runtime. To view the attachments simply view the attachment pane in runtime after you add the attachments.
    Good luck,

  • Attaching files to a PDF file via program

    Dear all,
    I discovered something new for me, and perhaps there is someone else there who can profit from it :-).
    in order to include attachment files as additional pages to a PDF file (frequent requirement for finance documents since the introduction of SOX compliance), you only have to append the internal tables containing the OTF before you convert it to PDF (no additional formatting or taking account of OTF file structure is required!!).
    Cheers,
    Ana

  • How do I read my wave form data back from an LVM file?

    I collected a waveform and saved it using the LVM file format. I would like to read the waveform back into labview and display it with its timestamp and assigned name. The only way I could read the data back into Labview was to convert it to a number array. I figured if you could write a waveform and save all its data, you should be able to read it back rather easily. I've included my LVM file and two simple programs. The program I'm using is much larger, but these two programs are representative of what I'm trying to accomplish.
    Thanks
    Solved!

    Write To LVM.vi ‏96 KB
    Read From LVM.vi ‏67 KB
    Test Data_08-12-11_1252.txt ‏29 KB

    Hi Knoebel,
    To display the waveform data, you'll need to change a couple things.
    1. Open the "Convert from Dynamic Data" vi and change the Conversion to have a resulting data type of 1D array of waveform, as this is the datatype you are writing with the "Write To LVM.vi"  Currently you are converting to an array of scalars here, which is why you are losing timestamp data.
    2. Open the "Read from Measurement File" express VI and Change the Time Stamps to be Absolute (date and time) rather than relative.
    3. If you want to display the timestamp on the waveform graph, pull up the properties window for the Waveform graph and change the Display Format to be Absolute Time for the X-axis and then check the Scales tab to be sure you have unchecked Ignore waveform timestamp on x-axes
    After making the change to convert from dynamic data type to 1D array of waveform you can also probe the wire going into the waveform graph to check the t0 and dt values of the waveform as you read from file.
    Lastly, if you look at the Write to LVM.vi block diagram, you will see a little red coercion dot between the waveform data wire and the Write to Measurement File data input terminal.  It would be better to use the "Convert to Dynamic Data" express VI to make this conversion.
    Hope this helps!

  • Adobe Form Data Integration into SAP using RFC

    Hi All,
    I have created a Adobe Form, there is a button Called Submit ,On clicking that button  the Adobe form must call a RFC function Module and pass the data from the form to Function Module.
    I have written the below code for the submit button but it is not working.Please Lemme know if u have any solutions..
    Below is my code
    //Submit this form to SAP using web services
      var webService = xfa.resolveNode("xfa.record.WEBSERVICE");
      xfa.host.messageBox ("test 3");
      var response = Net.SOAP.request(
      cURL: webService.value,
      oRequest: {
      "urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions:ZUPDATETIMESHEET":{
      TIMESHEET: t_time_record,
      HEADTIME:  wa_head
      cContentType: "text/xml"
      xfa.host.messageBox ("test 4");
      var success = response["urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions:ZUPDATETIMESHEET.Response"]["SUCCESS"];
      var response = response["urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions:ZUPDATETIMESHEET.Response"]["RESPONSE"];
      if (success == "X") {
      xfa.host.messageBox(response, "Response from SAP", 3);
      CONFIRMED.rawValue = "Yes";
      ConfirmedLogo.presence = "visible";
      for (var nPageCount = 0; nPageCount < xfa.host.numPages; nPageCount++) {
      var oFields = xfa.layout.pageContent(nPageCount, "field");
      var nNodesLength = oFields.length;
      for (var nNodeCount = 0; nNodeCount < nNodesLength; nNodeCount++) {
      oFields.item(nNodeCount).access = "readOnly";
      if (oFields.item(nNodeCount).border.fill.color.value == "255,0,0")
      oFields.item(nNodeCount).border.fill.color.value = "255,255,255";
      if (oFields.item(nNodeCount).ui.oneOfChild.className == "button") //Hide all buttons
      oFields.item(nNodeCount).presence = "hidden";
    ZUPDATETIMESHEET is my Function Module.
    t_time_record  and wa_head are the parameters being passed to the function Module.
    Please lemme know if i have to do any settings and configurations also...
    I have attached the entire code in the below file...
    Thanks in Advance

    Maruti,
    1. Just use the RFC's that does the update.
    2. There are update flags for each field that you would like to update. These flags should be marked be marked for update. They come along with the classes that are generated when you import the RFC's.
    3 Call BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT afterwards.
    All the above steps have to be done in the program.
    Sumit.

  • Attaching files to a PDF form and Submission.

    I'm pretty new to LC (hence the sn) and running into a little problem.  Currently, I have created a form that allows the attachment of files.  Everything is fine and dandy as I am able to ADD, OPEN and DELETE any file as I'm filling out the form.  However, when I SUBMIT the form in an email to myself, the submitted PDF form does not have any of the files attached to the form.  What am I not doing?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance.

    Hi, I'm responding on behalf of AdobeNoobie122...
    Thanks for your response Paul.  I’m currently using LC to develop/run the PDF.  It is in the PDF that I attach the files associated with my form and submit to myself.  Upon receiving the email, I notice the PDF is present without any of the attachments.  And yes, I am submitting the entire PDF and not a data file.

  • 2D decode vs. form data integration.export data performance

    Hello
    We have 2D forms that we accept in printed format or via electronic submission.  When they are printed we use the Decode to extract the data before processing.  When we get them back electronically, instead of using the Decode we use the formDataIntegration.Export data call.  We have mapped a xsd to the form to facilitate this.  An advantage of using the export data call is that we dont have to deal with print issues such as smudged barcodes, bleeding ink, thin paper, etc..
    BUT im wondering performance wise is one better than the other?
    A scanned form is 40kb while our electronic form is 400 kb (mainly because we only scan the barcoded page).
    Is 1 more CPU intensive?  Does 1 require more RAM and other system resources than the other?
    Are the both multithreaded or single threaded?
    I ask because we currently have a 70/30 split of scans/electronic submissions but because we will be outsourcing this and our pilot is showing a 99/1 split (scans/electronic).

  • Data integration navigate - how to set view type to chart??

    Hi,
    I have an answers report embedded in a dashboard.
    I have a value which I have set interfaction / navigate to an answers report which is NOT on a DASHBOARD.
    Is there anyway to get the viewtype to default to CHART (or any other non table / non compound view) without embedding the report in question in a dashboard page - which I have done previously as a workaround (hiding the page).
    I do not wish to use GO_URL.
    I am on version 10.1.3.4
    thanks,
    Robert.

    Sorry - not sure I understand your question?!
    If you mean how many times do I want to use this, then once I have cracked the syntax it would be an option that I would use regularly, my preference not to use GO_URL is the problem it causes with priinting - the URL content is visible in pdf's even when wrapped up in html - and with the length of the field with go_url syntax that is ugly....
    And yes, I know there is a workaround for the printing, but every workaround undermines the effectiveness of the tool...
    regards,
    Robert.

  • How to create a data connection with dynamic XML file?

    Thanks for all reply first!
    I have formatted the submitted data into an XML file on the server side,this file can be import to PDF form correctly.
    I try to send this XML file to the user to let him can review what he has submitted.
    I guess that I should create a data connection to the XML file so that it can be reviewed by the user.
    But the question is that the XML file is dynamic generated.
    How can i do?
    give me some clus or examples,please.
    thanks,
    Jasper.

    Hi Jasper,
    To show user back the result, you can use PDF instead of XML. You can store the PDF template in server and you can merge XML data with PDF template by Livecycle Form Data Integration service.
    We, as KGC, can generate huge number of Adobe Livecycle forms in small periods. Also we give consultancy on Adobe Livecycle ES products and Adobe Livecyle Designer. In case of any need, do not hesitate to contact us.

  • How can user attach file to interactive form, and be read by abap program?

    Hello,
    I created an abap interactive form, sent to the user, then user fills out the form fields, then it is uploaded back to sap, then my program reads this data and process it.
    It works.
    Now I want users to be able to attach any file they want, and the abap program to extract this file out of the PDF, to put it into SAP (or anywhere).
    I succeeded in attaching a file, I can "see" it via function module get_annotations, but I get the file in compressed form by Adobe (filter="FlateDecode").
    Do you know how to unzip the file, or is there another way to attach files in adobe reader/extract them via abap?
    I use acrobat reader 8.1.2
    Thx a lot!
    sandra
    Below is the xml obtained by GET_ANNOTATIONS. We see that there are other text annotations, and that the attached file has {length="98005"}, though real file (before "attach file" to the PDF, and also after "detach file") has length 111 995 bytes. It's why I deduced that there is a compression (I also tried to extract it as-is and open it with adobe but it doesn't work.

    Hello everybody,
    I am sure you have an answer to my question above. It was :
    how is it possible for a user to ATTACH files to a PDF interactive form, and then be able to READ them via a program ? (I guess the solution to read them via ABAP or JAVA is quite the same?)
    Thx a lot !

  • How to migrate to SSIS 2012 from Integration Services dtsx file?

    I am struck at migrating the dtsx file to SSIS 2012. How to migrate that dtsx file to SSIS 2012.I made it to migrate from SQL2000 to SQL 2005 dtsx. Now I want to migrate or upgrade it to SSIS 2012.How to achieve it.Help me please.
    sammy

    Hi sammy,
    Based on your description, you want to upgrade SQL Server 2005 packages to SQL Server 2012. If there are some individual packages, I suggest that we can directly add the SQL Server 2005 package to an existing project in SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT). For
    more details, please see:
    Right click on the SSIS Packages folder in the Integration Services Project in SSDT and Select Add Existing Package from the context menu.
    In the Add Copy of Existing Package dialog box select Package location as File System from the dropdown.
    Click on the ellipsis button next to the Package path textbox.
    Locate the SSIS package (.dtsx file) which you want to add from the file system.
    Click OK in the Add Copy of Existing Package dialog box to finish adding and upgrading the package.
    If those packages are located in a project, we can open a SQL Server 2005 Integration Services (SSIS) project file in SSDT, and then use the SSIS Package Upgrade Wizard to upgrade multiple packages in the project.
    If there are any questions, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,
    Katherine Xiong
