Form Submission with Results on Same Page

Hi there,
I am new to Spry, well, have used an accordion and thats
about it. I
want to create a page that has a form that submits to an ASP
page, all
the ASP does is insert a record. After the ASP has inserted
the data, it
will return the data, I want this to appear on the same page
that
submitted it without refreshing the page. The page will allow
another
set of data to be submitted, and again this data needs to be
displayed,
but below the previous data displayed.
Is this possible with Spry? If it is, which part of Spry do I
need to
investigate?
Are there any gotchas I should know about whilst using this
technique?

Can you try like this
1.First create an empty page and add a html region and template as form region and add the necessary fields to insert into table
2. create a another region with type as "SQL Query" and template as report region and add the necessary fields for the reports.
Once u entered the details into form region and created process and insert into table and then automatically the report region query will fetch the recently added row and displays in the report.

How to get a form to appear on the same page when a button is clicked?

Hi,
I have a report on a page with a create button. When a user clicks the create button, a form should appear on another region in the same page....how do i go about doing this?
I know how to do this if the form is on a different page, but i'd like the form to appear on the same page as the report and only when the button is clicked.

I did the following, but it didnt work....
1) Created a hidden item on the page, and in the Default Value field, I set the value to N.
2) Created a button in the report with the following values under "Optional URL Redirect":
Target is a: Page in this application
Page: 4
Set these items: P1_SHOW_FORM
With these values: Y
3) Created a form of HTML text type with the following values under "Conditional Display":
Condition Type: Request=Expression 1
Expression 1: P1_SHOW_FORM='Y'

How to do a partial refresh of a form and report on the same page?

Hi all,
im trying to make a page where you have a report on top and when you click the link instead going to the form page, the form page is on the bottom of the report. lets say im trying to send an id from the report to the item below so that i could fetch the rest of the item. however when i pass,other items would still refer to this one as null.
if im not mistaken this could be done with submit,but i want it to be partial refresh..
i tried steps here but this only worked when the lower part is a also a report:

If so, you need to create a dynamic action with a javascript action to set the id of the report row in the id form field, and a subsequent pl/sql action to fetch the record based on the id. You can use this record to set the other form field items.
For the example in the above link the code looks as follows.

Yes! im looking for something similar. This looks interesting. I did look into apex_util.set_session_state yesterday but didnt know how to apply. perhaps i was doing it wrong.
Question though, so basically first use the javascript to send the EMPNO from top report to the EMPNO in the form fields below.
Then based on the EMPNO received in the form, do a loop to get the rest and put it into session. Correct?
if i'm not mistaken i did something similar,but when i tried to set session for the rest,it refers to to the p26_EMPNO still as null..does the javascript sets the id of report to the id of the form or does it just send over?

Dynamic Search/Results on same page - HELP!

Here is my situation; any help will be GREATLY

- I have dynamic content using PHP/MySQL
- I am attempting to create a record insertion page
- within this page, I need the ability to querry the
database and display the results on the same page and then use the
results as a part of the record insertion/creation.
So - I have many students, who are assigned a unique student
number and I am creating a reservation system. The person entering
the reservation will enter in the student id (as opposed to their
name) and hit a 'find' button and the result, if found, will be
displayed in a dynamic text field. Then, they fill out the rest of
the info and submit the reservation which gets stored into the
database.
I have played around for a few hours now because I have no
idea how to do this and have just been using trial and error. Can
anyone PLEASE point me in the right direction?

I agree, this approach does not seem secure.
Seems like I could keep trying different ID's until I found
one and then
enter reservations under someone else's name and cause havoc
on the system.

Passing parameters between portlets with in the same page

Hello,
I have created a Form and a report. The form allows a user to make some selection values, and then upon submit it passes the selected values to the report to query the database. The results from the query are displayed in a new - seperate - window from the form. Is there anyway to disaply the report results on the same page as the form that called the report? I guess I am trying to have a page with 2 portlets (a form, and a report). I want the user to be able to make a selection from the form portlet and pass that selection to the report portlet within the same page.

Hi I received this info from an OSS named Mahantesh. I thought it was very helpful information for passing portlet parameters between a form and a report within the same page.
Please check these steps to pass parameter from form to report:
This article is based on demo tables EMP and DEPT.
1. Create a report RPT_DEPT using the query 'Select * from dept where deptno= :deptno'
2. Create a form FRM_EMP based on EMP table.
3. Edit the form FRM_EMP => 'Formatting and Validation Options' section => click on DEPTNO field
=> Give the value for the 'Link' (under 'Display options') as 'javascript:runrep()' where runrep is the name<br>
of javascript function that we are going to create later.
4. In 'Form text' section, in the 'Footer Text' add the code for the runrep function as follows.

FORM and JSP in the same page

Hello All
Is it possible to pass variable from a html textbox to a JSP? but they both are in the same page.
For this purpose, I have a created a index.html, which contain two frames, top.html and bottom.jsp. There is a textbox in the top.html, it collects 2 variables and use form action "POST" to call bottom.jsp to display a graph.
However after I run this page on Tomcat, it gave me error message in the bottom.html:
The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.
Can anyone teach me how to solve this problem? Thanks a lot

The problem is that both pages are loaded @ the same time so when the getParameter gets executed the parameters are null and this is the probable cause of your error. Another problem is the action in form will cause the bottom to go into tops frame and not have anything to do with the other frame. If you want data to go from one frame to another while the user still sees them look @ DHTML, JavaScript and IFrames.

When I click a button to open an online enrolment form, Firefox just reloads the same page.

I've tried clicking on this link to a allow you to enrol to vote in Australia on my mac, but everytime I do it it just reloads the page. I've been able to open it in chrome and on firefox on a pc and from that I can gather it seems to be one of those separate web apps but I don't have java installed on either of my computers so it's not a java applet. This has happened before with other links to similar styles of interactive web apps but the same thing happens, it just reloads the page with the link on it. I always just ended up doing them on a different computer or browser. I tried disabling all add-ons and allowed all pop ups but that didn't solve it. I couldn't find anyone with similar problems when I searched.

Enabling Form Submission With ALT+S in Firefox 5?

In the early stages of Firefox, ALT+S would submit a form. After v2 or v3, a modification in about:config was required to achieve this. Now, since the release of v5, not even this config fix works for me. Is there any way to enable this behaviour in the current version?

Using VO as form and table on same page

Hi,
We are facing some issues while using same view object on one page. The view object is dropped as input form and as table on same page. There are few fields in the input form that have autosubmit property set to true. Now while entering the data into form, after clicking any autosubmit field, if we refresh the page, then new row gets created in table with value of the auto submit field. This is in cache only and not created in DB. We tried by exposing two instances of same view object in application module but still same issue. Finally we created two view object, one which is EO based and another ready only through query. Its working fine now. But is there any other possible solution, without creating two view objects?

Column link to populate a form on the same page

Hello all,
Can anyone tell me how I can use a report column link -- that when the link is clicked will populate all of the text fields of my form which is on the SAME page? The form has about 10 fields, and their is only (3) Name/Value associations for a column link.

Great! Thanks for the advice. It appears that when you do that, it changes the column link attributes to a URL and puts the name/values in the URL -- when I first clicked on the link, it would not work -- said that it could not find item P6_FAX. I looked at the URL and then I deleted some of the spaces after the commas in the URL and it works great.

Report and Form on same page

I used the wizard to create a report and form on a table. When the user hits the edit link on the report, it brings up the form (so they can edit) on a new page. Instead of this, I want the form to show on the same page as the report. What is the best way to do this? Should I create 2 regions on the same page (1 for the report and 1 for the form)?

Render multiple panel groups programatically on same page

i have a page with multiple command buttons. each button is to be 'associated' with a panel form displaying data on the same page. when i click button 1 i want its associated panel form to render, when click button 2 i want panel form associated with button 2 to render, and form for button 1 to disappear, etc. so when i click the button i want its associated panel from to render and all othere to disappear.

If bean is not created as told by Puthanampatti, add an instance variable of component type(For panelformlayout add an instance variable of RichPanelFormLayout) and getter and setter methods for it in bean and add this to the binding property of the component, so that the component can be accessed by the instance variable.
