Form to echo data before submit

I would like to capture or echo the data from a form before the submit button - I can get a new browser to open but cannot get the data to show - is this possible?  Thank you.

There are a couple of ways you can do this.  Since you used the term echo, I am guessing  you are using php.
You can have the action of the form set to a file that will echo the data that has be input, without it actually being sent to your DB or email, then upon approval, they submit again to have the information go where you want.  Seems the long way around the barn.
A simpler method is to do a search of javascript, preview, form, and have a preveiw button and a submit button.  That sounds like the easier way.
There was just a discussion about it a week or so ago but I was unable to find it, but I found plenty of JS scripts that would work.

  • Re-enable column values in tabular form before submit

    Hi,
    I am using Apex 4.1. I have a tabular form. I created a dynamic action to disable some of the columns on page load.
    It works fine and I am able to add new rows. But when I click submit, all the column values are null and it is throwing validation error.
    I need to enable all the columns before submit. I invoked a javascript to enable all the fields, but still i get the validation error.
    I also tried creating dynamic action to enable the values but still I get the validation error becuase the values are all null.
    Please help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks
    SR

    Per HTML standards, disabled items are not submitted. Therefore if they are disabled at the point of submit, their corresponding session state values will be null (as you discovered). Apex validates against what is is session state, not against what is on your screen, so since the values didn't get submitted (per standards for HTML disabled items) that's why Apex thinks they are null.
    Before submit, re-enable the items/columns and it should work fine.
    Edit: Sorry, looks like you are doing this already. But are you doing it in the right order?
    How I have done it is:
    1. Change the save/apply changes button (whatever is doing the submit) to call a URL.
    2. Make the URL call javascript, such as:
    javascript:formSave('SAVE');
    3. Put a javascript function on your region or page (hypothetical example):
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function formSave(pRequest)
    { //Put all checking and processing prior to form save here.
      var vRequest="SAVE"; //default value taken from orig. "apply changes" button
      if(pRequest)
        vRequest=pRequest;
      enableAllCells(gMaintActionCol); //Put whatever code you have to re-enable your tabular form items here, must fire before apex.submit.
      //Do the save
      apex.submit(vRequest);
    </script>Edited by: gti_matt on Dec 1, 2011 3:04 PM

    Hi josue,
    Use the regular button and for that in the click event write all the validation scripting and at the end use the following code
    In JavaScript: xfa.connectionSet.MyWSDLDataConnection.execute(0);
    In FormCalc: $connectionSet.MyWSDLDataConnection.execute(0)

  • Ensure List/Menu populate my update form with the correct data before update

    Hello,
    Please how do I ensure my update form is populated with the correct data before update?
    On my update page I have text fields and select fields (dynamic list/menu). When I open my profile page to make updates, I see the field well positioned in the text fields but in the select list/menu fields, I see "Select from list" instead of the value that was initiated selected
    Correct Values before update
    Wrong values during update
    As you can see from the images below, when I open the update page, the list automatically populate the select fields with the last values in the list instead of the Initial values that where selected by the user before the update.
    Can anyone please review and let me know where I have gone wrong.
    Thank you
    Mike

    Hello All,
    Once more thank you. I have sorted the issue out.
    I observed that I was selecting the wrong field. I selected the field matching the record set of the select instead of the field matching the record set of the table I am working as seen on the image belew
    I was selecting this - This is the record set of the table that hold values for the city select list
    Instead of this. This is the record set of the table behind the form I am working on
    My issue is now re-solved.

  • Going form Note 2 to Note 4, can I use wifi and xfer data before activation

    Already have Verizon. I want to update the Note 4 first,move over my apps and data before activating the Note 4, can I do this?
    When I do, do i use the SIM card in the Note 2 in the Note 4?

        PhilF61
    I definitely want to make sure your new phone will be up and running just the way you want! The best way to fully transfer data will be to back up your current phone and then activate the new phone to transfer. Purchase history will be stored if you use the same Google account, and you can backup data using Verizon Cloud too: http://vz.to/1udgXIg

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the div. The elements within this div have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. • Encrypt XDP before submit

    Hi,
    We would like to develop a form that our user can submit via email. We understand that the user will click a submit button and depending on our design, an XDP will be created and emailed away.
    Is it possible to encrypt the XDP prior to submission?
    Thanks,
    /A

    You will be able to do it in next release. You will be able to sign the submitted data as well as the whole submission. If like more protection, you can also encrypt the submit content before the submission.

  • How to verify that the user has changed table row data before db update

    Hi all,
    Iam using Oracle ADF with EJBs.
    I have a single selection table that displays rows of data returned from a function of my data control.
    The columns of my table are editable so that the user can change the data. The user selects a row, changes the data in one or more columns of the row and saves the data by means of a submit button. The code in the submit button, identifies the row of the corresponding iterator that the user clicked on and updates the data in the database (using the 'mergeEntity' function of the EntityManager)
    Before saving the data, I want to put some logic to check whether the user has actually changed some data to avoid unnecessary updates in the database . But for this I need a technique to detect that the user has indeed changed some data in the table row.
    One technique I have been using so far was to isolate the iterator row of the table and then query the corresponding row in the database table and compare their values.
    Except from dummy, this technique is not efficient if the table contains many rows.
    Moreover, in my case I have observed that on successive updates on the same row , the query on the database returns the new values (user changed values) and not the actual values contained in the database table. This means that when the user updates an iterator row the cached data affect also the results of the SELECT statement from the actual database table!!! Isn't this strange ?
    Can somebody propose me a neat method to detect when the user has changed the the data of an iterator row ?

    Hey Alan,
    The below solution seems overly complicated to me and can not be implemented without a custom screen and/or the use of JavaScript. Also, if your main concern is that a user may accidentally loose all their data because they closed the browser window or the session times out before they hit the save button then this solution does not help you.
    There are a couple of simpler approaches you can take here:
    # If the use of JavaScript is permissible you can hook into the windows 'onUnload' event, and pop-up a message box which gives the user the opportunity to cancel closing the window and save their case if they haven't already.
    # Implement an autosave feature by hooking into one of events provided by web determinations. A simple (but rather naive) way of doing this would be to hook into the OnRenderScreenEvent and call save on the interview session every time the event fires. This guarantees that all the data the user has submitted will aways automatically be saved, thereby removing the need to make sure the user manually saves their data before closing the browser.
    Automatically making Web Determinations close a browser window has to be done using JavaScript. However, doing so means that a) it won't work for people who turn off JavaScript, which is commonly done for accessibility reasons b) you'll likely run afoul of the browser's security mechanism (they generally won't let you close a window that you didn't open and some really don't like you doing that at all).
    Thanks,
    Kristy

  • How to open a pdf form with fdf data

    Hi all,
          I am working on a new project. In that, I have to load a PDF contract form with FDF data on Internet Explorer Window.
    I don't know how to do it. Actually I tried using this format on the URL (while loading the respective page)
    http://www.example.org/pdf_file_name.pdf#FDF=http://www.example.org/fdf_file_name.fdf
    But it opened as an empty pdf document. . Actually I need it with the fdf data.
    Can anyone know any other way to do this?
    Or is this not possible to open a pdf form with fdf data in a browser?
    Thanks in advance
    Annamalai

    @ Bernd. It still opens a text file
    Here's my FDF file sample

    trailer
    <<
    /Root 1 0 R

    (I have uploaded the related pdf file before.)
    Just now I got an idea to use WScript (the code is written in javascript)
    ws = new ActiveXObject("WScript.shell");
    ws.Run('"AcroRd32.exe" "C:\\annukar\\Refi\\Refinance_Module\\Forms\\Contract.fdf"', 1, true);
    this opens my fdf document in Acrobat reader using command prompt.
    I have a doubt now, can i use some string in place of "C:\\annukar\\Refi\\Refinance_Module\\Forms\\Contract.fdf" in the above command?
    I mean something like fdf_file = "C:\\annukar\\Refi\\Refinance_Module\\Forms\\Contract.fdf"
    and replace ws.Run('"AcroRd32.exe" fdf_file,1,true). I tried it but it doesn't work Any idea's? Since the path will not remain the same always. So i need to change it

  • PDF form storing old data

    Hello, I am new to the forum and was hoping someone here would be able to help me with an issue I have run into or help me find someone who could.
    I was recently working on a security assessment of a website and I found a PDF document for an employement application that appears to store old data within the code of the document. To explain further:
    - I found the PDF form document on the website. When downloaded and opened with Reader it appears blank. The document is avaiable to download and then you are directed to email it to HR, so there is no online submission on the website.
    - When opened in a text editor it displays mostly encoded text and numbers but there is portion of the document with lines that correspond to the fields in the document and contain information from previous instances of the document that has been filled out.
    Has anyone encountered this before? If yes are there any remediations for a PDF form storing unwanted data within the code of the document?
    Thanks in advance and sorry if I have posted this in the wrong location.

    Filling in online forms should never allow the form to be saved back to the website.  Usually such a form (or any online document) would go to the user's browser's temp folder, and be saved in there.  I don't know how it was possible that user data got back onto the web server form (unless it was originally uploaded like that).
    What I would do if I encountered such a situation
    upload the clean, empty form
    make sure the file is read-only
    test it by filling in the form online
    see if the original form has been altered in any way

  • Date Validation - End date before Start date

    This may be a very simple validation but I seem to be having trouble. I've got a form which requires a date range to be selected (Date Picker fields)...a Start date, and an End date.
    I've created a Function Returning Boolean validation with the code as:
    begin
    if :P1_END_DATE < :P1_START_DATE then
    return false;
    else
    return true;
    end if;
    end;This works 99%, except when the date range spans years.
    For example, when I select '21-Dec-2010' in the start date and '4-Jan-2011' in the end date. The validation fails, and thinks the end date is before the start date.
    Do I need to compare the year part of the date, before doing the rest? Or is the '<' not suited for this sort of check?

    Sorry, false alarm, it looks like I had my logic a little backwards :)

  • Basic form with external data

    I am not sure if I am overcomplicating something I am trying to do with designer/Acrobat.
    I am trying to create an interactive work order.
    Much of the basic layout has been done, and most of the fields are doing what I want them to do, though I still have a little here and there that needs some tweaking.  But before I get to doing those, my primary focus is to have the form access external data.
    For example.  I have a table in the form that has the following fields.
    Quantity     Part Number     Description     Price     Amount
    Quantity, price and amount are all internal to the form itself, and are fillable by the user of the form, with the exception that the amount field is a calculated value based on the previous two.  My intention is that these fields are only filled by the user of the form when needed.
    My issue however is the Part Number and Description fields, which has me quite perplexed on what would be the best way to go.
    From some of what I have read here and there in this forum and elsewhere, it seems that I have to have some kind of complex setup regarding sql servers if I want to use a simple database file (access for example) where I can edit as needed on the fly to pull data into the form as needed, using for example, a pulldown, to populate the two fields.
    I can muddle through that for my personal needs, however, my intention is to provide the form to co-workers so they can use it without having to set up what I am seeing as extremely complex setup of installing and configuring sql servers and so forth.  The computers will not be connected to any networks, these are field laptops.
    What I was hoping was to provide the database with the pdf file and let the end user simply copy those to a folder and use them without much fuss, aside from them being able to edit the database file to add their own custom information.  I was also considering adding in the ability for them to save and recall customer contact information as well.
    I am not by any stretch of the imagination a programmer.  I am a technician.  I can figure out how to use access easily enough.  But beyond this...well...its all greek to me if you get my gist.
    Am I overcomplicating the matter.  Is there an easier approach to what I want to do?  Are there any complete samples  (includes all the files needed) available that I can use and study to accomplish what I am trying to do?
    Appreciate any input from you folks here.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    There are (at least) two ways of approaching this.
    One is to have the Part No. and Description in an external source (eg database) and then set up a data connection in the form to access this information. One problem is that if the user are using Adobe Reader, then the data connections will not work. See summary of deployment options here: https://acrobat.com/#d=3lGJZAZuOmk8h86HCWyJKg
    Another option is to hard wire the Part No and Description into the form. There is an example here and links to a tutorial on Acrobat Users website. Linking Drop Down Fields / Combo Boxes
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • Forcing the user to save before submit.

    Hi,
    I need to force the user to save the form before submit.
    How can I do that ? Please help.

    Hi,
    You can use the dirty flag. If your users have Acrobat/Reader 9.1 or above then you could also use the cancelAction method (however this is a bit flaky in I think version 10.0).
    For example, in the button's preSubmit event:
    if (event.target.dirty == true) {
         xfa.event.cancelAction = true;
    You would also want to include a beep and/or messageBox warning to the user.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall
