Forcing the user to save before submit.

Hi,
I need to force the user to save the form before submit.
How can I do that ? Please help.

Hi,
You can use the dirty flag. If your users have Acrobat/Reader 9.1 or above then you could also use the cancelAction method (however this is a bit flaky in I think version 10.0).
For example, in the button's preSubmit event:
if (event.target.dirty == true) {
     xfa.event.cancelAction = true;
You would also want to include a beep and/or messageBox warning to the user.
Hope that helps,
Niall

  • How to force the user to enter a value in the prompt

    Is there a way to force the user to enter a value in the prompt before they run the report?
    We have a customer specific dashbaord. The user has to enter a customer number in Dashbaord prompt on a first page of the dashboard. We store that value in a presentation variable. That presenatation variable value is being referenced in all the other pages of the dashabord. If the user does not enter a values in the first page and directly navigates to the other pages on the dashbaord, the reports on the other pages start to run for all the customers. Is there a way to force the customer to enter a value in the prompt before running any of the reports on the dashboard?
    Thanks!

    by Answer prompts, do you mean Column prompt?
    I can not use Column prompt in this senario as the user should not have to enter the same customer number over and over again when he navigates from one page to another on the same dashboards. If there is a way to default the column prompts then this would be an acceptable solution.
    I have already defaulted the prompt to a value as suggested in hte blog, but the issues occurs when the user erases the defaulted value. Is there are way to set the default value within the report?
    Can you please explaing mroe about option 3 regarding Java Script. Also please let me know what other options there are so that I can check whether they will fit my needs.
    Thank you very much!

  • Forcing a user to save a record

    I'm looking for some help (a keep it simple solution). Within a form how would I have a message (alert) displayed that would tell the user that they must save the current record before proceeding.
    conditions,
    1. A user enters a record.
    2. before the user moves to a new record, a message is displayed telling the user to save or remove the current record.
    3. The user can not leave the record until the record is saves or removes the record.
    What triggers would I use and at what level.
    Jim Casarella

    WHEN-NEW-RECORD_INSTANCE trigger fires each time a user navigates to a record.
    Use this trigger at the block level
    - Display the alert messages with the required message
    - If user chooses to save the record
    commit the form
    - If user chooses to remove the record then
    delete the record, commit the form and execute query to get the data again on form.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I use wpg_docload.download_file and prompt the user to save it?

    Hi,
    Posted about this a couple of weeks ago with a text file and got the following code (where x.zip=x.txt) and it worked fine. Problem is that I need to do this with zip files, and when I run the code below, it simply displays the zip file, rather than prompting the user to save the file. Have tried every mime type under the sun. No joy.
    The How to Upload and Download Files in an Application Advanced Tutorial for Release 3.2 does not work for APEX4. Simply creating a file browse item leads to Error ORA-20999: P3_FILE_NAME has to have a valid BLOB column as source. and so I cannot follow that tutorial to get further clues on how to make this work.
    Susan
    Thanks and here's the wpg_docload.download_file code that displays a binary file:
    declare
    lob_loc bfile;
    v_length integer;
    fname varchar2(100) := 'x.zip';
    l_blob blob;
    des_offset number := 1;
    src_offset number := 1;
    begin
    lob_loc := bfilename('CELFILES_9906', fname);
    v_length := dbms_lob.getlength(lob_loc);
    DBMS_LOB.createtemporary(l_blob, FALSE);
    dbms_lob.open(lob_loc, dbms_lob.lob_readonly);
    DBMS_LOB.LOADBLOBFROMFILE(
    dest_lob=>l_blob,
    src_bfile=>lob_loc,
    amount=>v_length,
    dest_offset=>des_offset,
    src_offset=>src_offset);
    owa_util.mime_header('application/zip', false);
    htp.p('Content-length: ' || v_length);
    htp.p('Content-Disposition: inline; filename="' || fname || '"');
    -- close the headers
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    -- download the BLOB
    wpg_docload.download_file( l_blob );
    DBMS_LOB.freetemporary(l_blob);
    EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN
    DBMS_LOB.freetemporary(l_blob);
    RAISE;
    end;

    I downlod blobs like this without issue (using IE7 and FF):
    owa_util.mime_header('application/octet', False);
    HTP.p ('Content-length: ' || DBMS_LOB.getlength (l_blob));
    htp.p('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="'||v('P20_FNAME')||'"');
    OWA_UTIL.http_header_close;
    WPG_DOCLOAD.download_file (l_blob);
    ...Remember, that it's your browser's MIME type settings that determine whether to pop up a save diaglog box. In FF 3.6 > Tools > Options > Applications > Content type. The set action for each mime type.

  • How do i create a form in live cycle E4 that i can save as a PDF that the user cannot save over?

    How do i create a form in live cycle E4 that i can save as a PDF that the user cannot save over?

    You can't. If the file is made read-only via the file system, the user will prompted to save as a new file if they attempt to save.

  • Forcing the user to select one of the OBIEE prompts?

    Hi All,
    Iam new to OBIEE I have a requirment in which I need to force the user to select one of the selection from prompts in OBIEE eg: you need to select one of the contry either India or America to get the other prompts enable and filter the report?
    Any help is highly appriciated.

    Hi,
    You can set a default value in your first dashboard prompt like 'please select a country' then if the user doesn't select something no result will be returned until he selects a valid value
    Then make the other dashboard prompts constrained.

  • Doesnt alloe the User to save the form

    Dear All,
    I have designed a form that upon submittion will call the web service for documentum and generate a flateen version of the PDF. what I need to do is upon submission by the user. the flatten should be generated and close the Adobe reader or Acrobat window without allowing the user to save the form. Because the user filled out the form Adobe keep asking to save changes which allow the user to save the file. Any idea to skip the prompt for saving the file.
    Thank you,

    OMFH! Thank you so much for the solution I so desperately needed and spent so many hours trying to figure out then so much more time looking for here. How completely unintuitive and frustrating to not be able to create a form in Live Cycle Designer 8 that can be filled out *AND SAVED* from Reader - rather you have to open the finished PDF in Acrobat Pro and use an *advanced* feature to add user rights so the file can be saved from Reader. How difficult would it have been, and how much frustration would it have saved so many end users, for this to have been included as a choice in LCD when creating the form??? After all, it's part of the same software package and probably even the same code base.

  • How to prompt the user to save the file in a particular file name

    Hello All,
    I have a form which has several fields. Out of those one field is called CustomerName. Is it possible to save the file in a paricular file name. Like :
    "Customer Name  'Today's Date'". When the user tries to save it or save as it it will be in the same format that I have told.
    Thanks.
    Bibhu.

    Hi,
    to get in touch with folder level scripts, please read this tutorials first.
    http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/2006/folder_level_scripts

    http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/2008/10/using_trusted_functions

    As metioned before, you have to save the form with a new file name before you submit it.
    Otherwise the file name cannot be changed.

  • How to make the delete button save before deleting?

    Hi all,
    I created a tabular form. What I want to do is when the user click the Delete button, it saves the chagnes AND delete the checked row(s). I tries putting the request "Delete" in the Conditional Processing of the multirow delete process, but I couldn't get it to work.
    Does anyone know how to do that? Thank you very much for the help in advance!

    So, instead of having two separate button, one for Apply Changes and the other for Delete , you want to have one button that will do both. However, if you do that you may miss out on the delete confirmation or end up having a confirmation for both the actions.
    Here is how to do it.
    1. Lets say we will retain the Apply Changes (label) button with request SUBMIT. So make the Condition on Delete button 'Never'.
    2. Now edit the ApplyMRD process and make the condition When Button Pressed = 'SUBMIT'
    3. ApplyMRU will also have the same condition.
    Now both processes should fire on the click of one button.
    BTW, you many have to change the sequence number of the ApplyMRD process and make is greater than the sequence number of the ApplyMRU process.

  • Is it possible to force the user to login again when using oauth 2 (implicit grant)

    Hi,
    I'm trying to build an application based on a rest webservice in APEX which is being accessed by a javascript frontend via ORDS. I'm using the "Implicit grant" flow of OAUTH 2.
    When the user is finished with the application, he/she should be able to logout of the application, so another user can login (on the same machine and browser). But, without clearing all cookies, ORDS will automatically give an access token for the previous user, without showing the login screen to allow/deby access to the rest web service.
    (Clearing the cookies is not possible via javascript, since they are httponly)
    I know it is not the "normal" way to use oauth2, but I would like to be able to log-out a user. So how can I force ORDS to show the loginscreen again to give another user the possibility to login?
    Alexander

    You can force the implicit code flow to prompt the user to sign in by including _auth_=force in the approval request query string. To follow the example shown in the developer guide [1]
    change:
    https://server:port/ords/resteasy/oauth2/auth?response_type=token&client_id=CLIENT_IDENTIFIER&state=STATE
    to:
    https://server:port/ords/resteasy/oauth2/auth?response_type=token&client_id=CLIENT_IDENTIFIER&state=STATE&_auth_=force

  • How do I create a form that enables the user to save the form filled in?

    When I create the form, save it and open it later, I get the message that the form can only be saved empty - without whatever the user filled into the text fields. Why is this and how can I enable the form to be saved including the content of the fields?

    It should only say that when used with Reader versions prior to version 11. If you have Acrobat, you can Reader-enable the form, allowing it to be saved in versions prior to 11, and 11 as well. Exactly how you do this depends on what version of Acrobat you're using:
    A9: Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader
    A10: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features
    A11: File > Save as Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in & save)

  • Can I lock a course if the user closes it before the end?

    So if I have a 10 question quiz and if on question 5 the user closes the course can I lock them out?

    Sure. Set the LMS not to allow them any more than a single attempt on the module. The Captivate content doesn't control this.
