Hi
i would like to know on how to format excel spreadsheet using jexcel API once the program write an excel file i.e.(format column width, fill the cell with color).
im a newbie in jexcel API.
could anybody help me?

Yup, .xls is a proprietary encrypted file format and
<cffile.... is not
going to be able to successfully read and modify it's
content. You can
copy it or move it, but not modify it with <cffile...>
If the file format was a plain text such as .txt or .csv you
could do
what you are thinking about, but then you would probably not
have the
proprietary excel formating in the file.
I've heard about the POI library that allows some native
Excel access
and such, but I am not knowledgeable in its ins and outs. -

But, the data generated in Microsoft Excel was not formatted according to my specification. How could I format the data, alignment and to inset image file in Microsoft Excel automatically when this RFC is being called?

If you tried to write the the template the proper (textual) datatypes and the column is and it does not work then
I only can suggest to write a macro that does the Text Column conversion and have the macro triggered from within the package perhaps better off using a separate process (e.g. a console app that is done using Office interop libraries) as doing it right in
the package is quite laborious.

Call Excel SpreadSheet using OLE and set format = text
Hi All,
I am working on an object, where I need to call Excel SpreadSheet using OLE.
In SpreadSheet, I need to show data as text (Without Excel Internal Modifications).
i.e
if i pass 03/2007 as month in excel, it should show 01/2007 not jan-07.
I am trying to use the code as below.
call method of cell 'SET_FORMAT' = text.
set property of text 'CATEGORY' = 4.
this code is not giving me desired output.
Is there any other method i can call? or property I can set?
can somebody pls send me a document with list of all formattiong methods and properties. I will really appreciate the help.

As far as I known, the macro/Active X control can be used well with both of the Office 2013 and Office 365.

attachment. Then, I tested it, I found the probably reason.
You were using ActiveX controls in the sample file, and them displayed 4 tabs in Format control dialog box. Next, you created a new Form control, it displayed 7 tabs.
You were using the two type of controls. ActiveX controls and Form controls
are different.
Form controls
Form controls are the original controls that are compatible with earlier versions of Excel, starting with Excel version 5.0. Form controls are also designed for use on XLM macro sheets.
ActiveX controls
ActiveX controls can be used on worksheet forms, with or without the use of VBA code, and on VBA UserForms. In general, use ActiveX controls when you need more flexible design requirements than those provided by Form controls. ActiveX controls have extensive
properties that you can use to customize their appearance, behavior, fonts, and other characteristics.

Automatically open excel spreadsheets with numbers
can anyone tell me is it possible to set numbers as the default application to ALWAYS open excel spreadsheets? each time i try to open an excel spreadsheet the computer starts up the trial office software. I then have to cancel and choose "open with" and then set "always open with" numbers.
Having just converted from Windows, I was able to set certain programs to always handle specific file formats, e.g. .jpg, mpeg, avi so I did not have to choose the program every single time i wanted to open a file.

Linking to specific cells in an Excel spreadsheet no longer working
I use RoboHelp HTML version 7 and just upgraded to MS Office 2007. I have project that contains hyperlinks to specific cells in an Excel spreadsheet using the following syntax: <a HREF="../file_name.xls#cell_name"> (a tip I found on Peter Grainge's website). This worked fine with Office 2003.
With Office 2007, however, the hyperlink opens the Excel spreadsheet to the first cell on the first tab regardless of the the #cell_name suffix. I've tried the following with no success:
delete the .xls baggage file, convert the .xls to the newer .xlsx format, add the .xlsx as a baggage file, rename the hyperlinks to .xlsx (in HTML view), generate new output
same as above but re-creating the hyperlinks (rather than just renaming)
When I preview the topic, the hyperlink is active but does not open the spreadsheet (topic cannot be found). In the generated output, the hyperlink is not even a hyperlink (just plain old text).
Another unusual behavior (I have no idea if this is related) -- before I tried to fix this, when the original spreadsheet (.xls) opened in "compatibility mode," it was not maximized in Excel's window. When I used to open this in Office 2003, it was always maximized.
Does anyone know if the #cell_name suffix works in Office 2007? Is there another way to link to a specific cell?Hi all
As I understand it, the "X" on the 2007 stuff signifies a format similar to a zipped format. If what I understand is true, it would seem to make sense that this would also somewhat preclude linking in the manner you are speaking of. It would be akin to opening a specific document after first opening the zip archive.

How to get an effective EXCEL Spreadsheet as output for Oracle report 10g
Hi All,
I am a newbie in Oracle reporting. I am using 10g. I have an oracle report whose output format is PDF from the user interface. User asked for Spreadsheet output. I changed the JAVA CODE "desformat" = Spreadsheet and got the report in Excel. But this report is not as expected as it has many blank cells, misplacements etc and looks really ugly. so Is there anyway to get an excellent spreadsheet as output.
If anybody needs any more information on this, please let me know.

Did I miss something in the fine print? I installed Lion and and come to find out, I can no longer open any Word documents or Excel spreadsheets as they are no longer supported (apparently because they are PowerPC apps). Seriously?!?!?!?!! What are my alternatives?

You might find it helpful to "try before you buy" - there is a 30 day free trial offer for Office for Mac 2011, accessible from M's .com website.
You may be able to use this period to open and resave your old documents in a format that enables you to switch instead to using Apple's iWorks apps moving forward.
I initially intended to do something similar, but ended up buying Office as it provided an easier way (for me, at least) to continue working with years worth of old emails, letters, spreadsheets and other documents (from my PC days) without risking damage to their integrity, formatting, etc. -

I purchased the Adobe ExportPDF yesterday. I have tried to convert PDF into an Excel spreadsheet and it does not recognize any of the formatting and it just converts into one big mess in the spreadsheet.

Moving Excel Spreadsheets from Work to Home
I have had this problem for the past month. The problem is when moving Excel
spreadsheets from home to work only (1) out of (6) will not open. It says there is not enough memory. The other spreadsheets are larger so I know the allocation is ok. The work computer is an IMac running system 9.2, the home
computers are a G4 IMac and a G3 IBook. Both of these are running Tiger 10.4.4. These spreadsheets open on both of these Tiger computers.
I use a 128MB USBDrive for moving files back and forth. One thing I have noticed recently is that when opening at work the Icons say PC. I have a newer version of Excel at home, cannot load that version at work because it is not compatible with system 9.2.

I don't use OSX, so can't suggest a method there. However, in OS 9, try highlighting the icon of the drive (click on it once), then select Erase from the Special menu. With luck, that will offer one of the Mac formats (probably Mac OS Standard) as well as MS-DOS. -
when opening excel spreadsheets...they are not formated correctly...loose all column formating...columns are now minimum width and all fields are overlapping...making them impossible to read.
I can not find a way to fix the columns...it view only...is their a way to fix this.For reading complex Excel docs (which in most cases aren't spreadsheeets at all but, rather, something closer akin to simple databases or multi-page planning documents using what in AW would be tables) I use NeoOffice. It works fine and most formatting carries through okay (not that I really need that in any case).
For my own spreadsheets, which actually ARE spreadsheets, I've never found a reason to go beyond AW.

hello, my database in archivelog mode....... i am taking hotbackup of datafile,controlfile and archivelogs every day. so what is the best way to remove archivelogs??? i am not taking cold backups thanks in advance
