Formats in table

hi there! i'm trying to create a table in jsp with data from a database table. the database table values are: varchar2 - varchar2 - integer - integer - varchar2.
the connection etc seems to work fine because the two first varchars show on the jsp page. the first integer doesn't show at all, the second integer shows $(oneItem.testCaseId) and the last varchar show $(oneItem.testCaseId).
$(oneItem.testCaseId) is the jsp syntax i use for all the five above to print out data on the screen.
does anyone have any idea about what i'm doing wrong?

i want to add rows Formatted as table headings, table headings are repeated when a table spans more than one page(marked as Red).
Example:

Test Result word document should generate with Table headings(marked as Red) in every pages of the document, but i am not getting as per above example.

i want to generate MS-word report for TestStand after successful testing using MS-word2000.
Test report contains Actual values, Expected values and Pass/Fail status.
In my program i have customized all fields i can able to generate test report which contains Verification engineer name , test mode, test date, start time, end time Actual values, Expected values and Pass/Fail status.etc....
To put all values of test case number, Test step number, Actual values, Expected values and Pass/Fail status in to table for each time, i will
insert a row into table every time values arrives, once the table exceedes its page size it moves to the next page, next page should start with table row header but it start with values of above said parameters.
so i'm not able to repeat table row header for each page.

Clicking a Pages table don't give the same result than clicking somewhere in the table then pressing cmd + a.
The first scheme selects the table (height square handles displayed)
The second one select every cells (no handle displayed).
If we try to fill cells with a color in case 1, only standard cells are filled.
If we try to do the same in case 2, every cells (headers included) will receive the color.

Formatting pivot tables (obiee 11g)

Hi, I'm trying to find good ways to format pivot table results in 11g. Can someone help answer the following questions? Note that I'm putting the "measures" label into the row position, which allows me to format measures differently from each other.
1. I'd like to put blank rows into the output to space the report. I tried creating a dummy "spacer" measure and then setting display:none in the CSS style. However, this leaves an ugly blank spot that has a gray color in the output. Is there an easier way just to add blank spaces between rows?
2. The default grid lines on all pivot tables are really dark. If you're a Stephen Few afficianado, they really interfere with reading the numbers. Is there a simple way to default pivots to have less obvious grid lines?
3. Is there a way to turn off the "word wrap = TRUE" for everything? I've tried setting default number formats for all items to have word wrap turned off...I don't know who would EVER want minus signs wrapping around in numbers...despite this, any new metric I create ALWAYS seems to have stupid word wrapping turned on. If anything, I'd like the default to be off for all items.

Unable to add rows in Excel 2007 after 'Format as table'

The problem for me was that I had used the 'format as table' option in my spreadsheet, to alternate row colors. Apparently doing so creates a different kind of table where you cannot insert rows. Took me a while to figure out, surfed a lot of sites trying
to find answers, nothing worked. It seems impossible to undo whatever is done when you choose the 'format as table' option. Everything was visible, nothing was locked, nothing was protected, nothing was merged.
To fix it, I had to copy my data into a new table and use the conditional formatting option, with a formula that worked in prior versions of Excel.
Is there another way to fix this problem? What does 'format as table' does?

You are correct. Selecting colums does use "all" of the available rows on the sheet and you can't add new rows because you get an error it would move data off of the sheet. Your workaround will work, but if you happen to just select the columns
and then format as table you can then select the last empty row, Ctrl+Shift+End to highlight all the rows to the end, then go to the Home menu and drop down Delete (from the Cells menu) and then select Delete Sheet Rows. This will free up all the space
you need. If you right click and select delete it will only delete the row that you right clicked on (trust me...trial and error).

I've tried messing around and watching some tutorials. but I don't really see examples of this particular type of style. Most examples I saw only has the first row and first column high lighted.

Paragraph Formatting in Tables - RH8 for HTML

In working with paragraph formatting in tables, I find that whatever I set the Table Properties to be in terms of Flush Left, Centered, or Flush Right, that formatting is assigned to every paragraph within the table.
So if I want to center the table on the page, then the text within every cell is also centered.
Is this common to others? What's the solution?

Cracked it.
I found different results with different browsers.
IE8 and Opera = Text is centred in output
FF and Chrome = Text is left aligned.
That meant it had to be a browser issue so what could be different? The way they handle XHTML. Go to Tools > Options and tick Convert RH edited topics to HTML.
The first test is that Preview will now display the text left aligned. Then generate an output and test in any browser, it should now be OK.

I am using Oracle 8.1.7. I tried to set the date format by setting the NLS_DATE_FORMAT variable, but it worked for sqlplus only. How can I set it for the Enterprise Manager's Table Editor? Thanks

I guess you have to change that parameter in init.ora file of the database. According to what I know you can not set that format in OEM.

In table TCURR the Value from field holds the date in the following format 79909771. What does this mean in normal date format?

99999999 - 79909771 = 20090228 = 28/02/2009

What you want to do is a kind of fomating the data in the cells. One possible way is to subscribe to the ItemDatabound event of the Table and format the contents of the cell accordingly:

DateColumnIndex is the index of the column that has the date field.
There is an even easier tricky way to do it: If you databind the table at design-time, the framwork creates databinding expressions for the TextViews in the cells that look like
Text='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.Parent, "DataSourceRow.DataItem.Fldate") %>'
You can change this to contain your formatting function, e.g.
Text='<%# ReformatDate(CType(DataBinder.Eval(Container.Parent, "DataSourceRow.DataItem.Fldate"), string) %>'
You can change the expression either in HTML view or usign the DataBindings property editor of the cell's TextView. In this case of cause you don't need the Table1_ItemDatabound event handler.

incorrect date format saved thru transaction spro>General settings>Currencies>Enter Exchange rates. date format entered is 98.98.9898 now the system wont allow you to maintain exchange rates without specifying correct date format for the entries. in tables TCURR i cannot get the entries as they are stored in nines compliment. how then can i delete the entries with abap script??

ex:
delete from TCURR where KURST = <your exchange rate type>.
commit work.

Page Item / Source / Format Mask - Table Column Numeric

Form page to maintain a table row, the item is for a numeric column. Selected/Entered the format mask "999G999G999G999G990D00" for the Page Item / Source. I was under the impression that this would result in the page item being formatted with the mask when navigating out of the item. I can enter non-numeric values and navigate out with no error being raised/reported ... is this expected behaviour?

APEX was touted at being a MS Access application killer and a RAD tool. If the user is presented with having to understand the complexities of session state variables, page item variables, etc. then a lot of developers/users will be switched off. APEX was supposed to appeal to the masses as the pipes and plumbing coding behind having a web application front end on an Oracle database backend was being hidden. The converse seems to apply when implementing functionality like a format mask being applied both on entry and display of several page items. So I may be able to implement the required format validation using Javascript but if I have to apply this functionality to more than one page item in now way does APEX lend itself to RAD, e.g. In Oracle Forms you could select multiple Block/Items and then change a property to apply to all the selected items.

Change formatting of table of contents in Hyperion Financial Reporting

We're using Hyperion Financial Reporting to generate carefully formatted books of reports. Users complain about the default table of contents in these books, specifically:
--> formatting: the basic text-only, portrait-only, formatting does not fit with the "look and feel" of reports within the books.
--> placement: the fact that it doesn't seem possible to place anywhere within a book, apart from as the first page (they like a title page to sit at the front of a book of reports).
--> content: having a limited options for defining the text identifying each item within the table of contents. For example, the same combination of dimension members appear for each item in the table of contents, so the first few items look something like:
Report1_Label
Dimension2_Label, Dimension1_Label, Dimension3_Label, Dimension4_Label ....................1
Report2_Label
Dimension3_Label, Dimension1_Label, Dimension4_Label, Dimension2_Label ....................2
I remember reading somewhere that it's possible to define custom table of contents. Has anyone had any experience of hacking this? Where can I find relevant documentation on defining custom table of contents?

I've never done this before but there is a section in the Financial Reporting Workspace Administrators Guide (chapter 5). However this involves accessing the css style sheets and in my experience this can have unwanted and unexpected effects in other areas. It does appear to be fairly well documented though in this case so perhaps it is more reliable in this instance.
It does specifically mention HTML format and not PDF format so if you are publishing to PDF it is worth checking the impact on that too. Take a look at the attached for version 11.1.2 but I'm fairly sure this was available in earlier versions too.

SQL* Loader to load data format into tables??????

Hai I am very much new to Oracle. I am trying to load data into a table using SQL*Loader and i getting error while it is using the data format.
the format used in data file is "Sep 6 2001 12:00:00:000AM"
and when i used to_date( :accountDate, 'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS AM or PM') function it throws me an exception like
"ORA-01821: date format not recognized". so anybody can help me to insert data with out changing the data file, whould be really helpfull

Also it looks like you need to change your date format mask.
If your data is formatted as "Sep 6 2001 12:00:00:000AM"
then you should use to_date( :accountDate, 'Mon DD YYYY HH:MI:SSAM')
This will work with a two digit second field, but not a three digit second field.
