Formatted Search Column Width

Good Day
Experts:
Is it possible to set the column width in a Formatted Search? Or perhaps a way to click between the column headings and maximize the width of the column before displaying to the User. I would like to do this programatically for the User.

Fixed column width in Excel output

Hi,
Can we fix a column width when we are viewing the report output in excel? Can we do that in RTF template?
If the column name is too long, it is automatically inreasing width of the column...But I need the column to be of a fixed width.

You should try Excel templates instead of RTF templates. This is the best method to control Excel output formatting like column width.did you try excel template ?
for example for 3 nested group?

i tested true excel template on ebs r12.1.2 and it works only for one group and for two group the result awful it duplicate and mix data

How to set displayed column width for a search help

I have created an elementary search help for a custom field with a value table behind it.
The search help functions correctly, but when displayed the column widths are all 10 characters. The user has to adjust the column to view the descriptive text.
Can anyone tell me how to set default column widths for the help?

Using Second Column of Formatted Search

Hi All,
i have a query for formatted Search, which goes like This
"Select ItemName, ItemCode from oitm"
When i press Tab on the field 'Product No.' in 'Production order',
i get the CFL of ItemName and ItemCode.
when i select one row from this, i need to capture the ItemCode
in the field 'Product No.' (By Default it captures the first Column i.e ItemName)
Any suggestion are most welcome

By default it will fetch the first column only. one workaround what you may not like to use is, to define a user defined field in production order form and give an FMS there. ther you show the itemname first as you have written, and give an Auto refresh FMS on production order field where you change it to itemcode when item name is selected.

Is it possible to fetch matrix column through formatted search in UDF?

Is it possible to fetch the value of first row of quantity column in user defined field through formatted search?
SELECT $[$38.11.number]
does work but in user defined column of matrix only. I have requirement that when there will be only one row in matrix, the quantity should be accessible in user defined field. and for this, the above query gives internal error.

I used the query sent by you and further facing following problem. may be my filtering is on wrong parameter.
SELECT $[rdr1.quantity] * $[ordr.u_qty1.number] from ordr o, rdr1 r where o.cardcode= $[ordr.cardcode] and r.itemcode = $[rdr1.itemcode]
this query gives correct result when assigning to matrix column.
when I applied the same query to user defined field, then after selecting the row as suggested by you, it does give value but, in this case, it takes it from rdr1 instead of from matrix.
for example, I have selected item A001 in matrix. if that item is already there in rdr1, then it fetches its quantity from table instead of that provided by me in matrix's quantity column
Please guide further,

Display column total on the header using Formatted Search

Hello,
I'm trying to create a FS on a Sales Order header (UDF) that will summarize a
column from the row level.
For example, I'd like to display the sum of the quantity in the header.
I've tried the following syntax: Select sum($[$-38.11.NUMBER]) but I get
only the first line as query result and not sum of all lines.
Is it possible to get the column total using FS? If so, what should be
the syntax?

Columns totals are not possible to get through formatted search as the data of the first row is only referenced by the system automatically.
If you are needing the Sum of LineTotal for a Approval procedure, then you could use the Total Before Disc col which is actually the sum (line total)

This is not possible with formated searches.
With SDK, depends on if it is Matrix or Grid, on if it is a system form/your own form. But basically, loop throw the form or datasource, and do the sumatory.

Is it possible to resize page column widths at runtime (by the user)?

hi all,
i have cretaed a page using the 2-columns narrow/wide layout. this layout is perfect for what i want to do.
however, the users have complained that they would like to be able to resize the columns, just like they are able to do with the Detailed Navigation column (using the small "<" and ">" arrows).
is it posssible to add this functionality to my custom pages so that can also resize the columns?
i searched for options in the properties, but didn't find anything.

I took profdant139's suggestions a bit further as my real goal was to have the "Document column" narrower. The goal to be able to see all the other document info that was usually hidden way out to the right
To achieve my results I right clicked in the upper bar with the column names and chose from the drop down box "comments" column (as suggested). I then dragged it to the far right. This pushed all the other columns over.
In the end of the day I ended up adding "Size" and "Date modified" columns as well to get my desired results.
Remember one can move different columns around to be in the order you need by clicking on the column to get it active and then left click and drag it to where you want
Another great thing is that by default (Using Mavericks) the date modified, opened,created columns have date and time. One can shrink them down to xx/xx/xx format by manually adjusting the column width like one does in Excel - click on column separator up top and drag
Once all that is done, at least on my box, I closed it out and opened up a new finder window and everything was as I wanted.

How to fix column width in a report

i have to set the width of a column of a report of mine fixed and to have text wrapping inside of it.
i would prefer to avoid to modify the theme (that might involve other item) and i wanna work just on that report.
i've tried to create a new template (Report Region Wrap) and i guess i'm supposed to set something like:

but i don't know where...

Formatted Search calling a stored procedure

Hello all,
I am having a problem getting a formatted search to work when I call a stored procedure from SAP (I am doing this because of a bug we discovered and need to get the client live Feb 1). The stored procedure works fine when passing variables from within SQL Server, but fails when using SAP. The problem seems to be where I need to get a UDF from the item master table, but not sure. I believe the syntax of your formatted search is not right. I guess you are trying to get the U_Width from Item Master and the other values from the current form.

If you see I have added a third parameter which is the Type to the formatted seach field selection $[$Item.Column.Type]
I have made then all 0 but you may change it as per the col type. This Type should be 0 for Char type columns, Number for numeric columns and Date for Date type cols

Hi Vedant,
There are two possibilities in your case.
1.width of your column heading is too large.
include break in your column heading
for ex .. column heading is employee department number then write it as *[Employee(br)Department(br)Number]* // replace ( with < and ) with > in br
2) Value is too large
Go to Report Attributes->edit your column->column formatting->css style
In CSS style put this display:block;width:100px;white-space:wrap

Is it possible to have a fixed column width and a URL link?

I am trying to achieve having a popup link on a column within a SQL report but also have the report column a certain width. I can have either or however not at the same time.
What I did was created a SQL report, edited a column and gave it a URL redirect (page in application) as normal.
For the fixed column width, I used:

And for the popup URL, I used:

Auto-refresh formatted search is not working properly...

I have created a User Defined Field in Item Master named: FLD1 (Alphanumeric 30)
Then I have created a User Defined Field in Marketing Documents Row: FLD1 (Alphanumeric 30)
Now I want as follows u2013
In Marketing Documents if I select any Item, the value saved in FLD1 in the Item Master will come automatically in the Field FLD1 of the Marketing Document.
I did as follows u2013
I have created a formatted search for the above marketing document (in Sales Quotation) for the field FLD1 as follows u2013
Option: Search in Existing User-Defined Values according to Saved Query
Query: GetItemFLD1 (SELECT $[OITM.U_FLD1] )
Option: Auto Refresh -
When Exiting Altered Column
Field: Item Description
Option: Display Saved User-Defined Values
But the above is not working automatically --- after saving the document if I click on the Formatted Search Marker then the value comes otherwise not.
Can any one please explain the reason behind?

Formated Search: Auto refresh with two conditions.

Hi,
I've created a Formated Search in one of my column.
I defined my formated search as :
- Auto refresh "When Exiting Altered Column" Item No.
- Display Saved Values.
Now how can I make it Auto refresh with two conditions?
- Auto refresh "When Exiting Altered Column" Item No.
And
- Auto refresh "When Field Changes" Customers/Vendor Code.
- Display Saved Values.
Is there any way to make it work?

Hi Bruce,
You could try this trick.
You need to execute SELECT1 in Col1 when Item No. column is altered or the Customer code is changed.
Then, in the Item No. column asign a new Formatted Search which selects the Item No. column value (Its value) when the Customer code is changed.
And in the Col1 asign a formatted search that acts when the Item No. column is altered.
I think this should do the trick.
