Formatting Data for Customizable Timeline

I'm creating a website about the history of architectural styles in America.  One feature will be a timeline.
I'd like the user to be able to choose a range of geographical areas, and a date, and see a scrollable timeline of quotations, facts, and images, so that he/she can compare various regions (in the vertical dimension) and navigate horizontally to view how styles change over the years.
As a one-man band, doing this on my own, I need to learn everything about this from a programming point of view.   But I'm also working on the actual content, aggregating the various images, facts, and quotations.
1. Are there extensions which might help me to create this interactive timeline?
2. How should I be building the collection of data?  Can I use a spreadsheet, or should I immediately begin with a database structure?
Thanks.
Bob C.

NumberFormat hasstatic getCurrencyInstance() and getCurrencyInstance(Locale) that can be your friend. In MVC context formatting should probably be done in View(IMHO) since it only affect visual presentation

  • Format Date for time.

i have a doubt as to how to store the date along with time from my front-end Forms Developer Suite 9i application.
I am trying to give this kind of statement from SQL-plus:-
    update login_master set last_accessed=to_Char(sysdate,'dd-mon-yy HH:mi:ss')
         where login_ID = :GLOBAL.LOGIN_ID
but, there is a message which comes like this:-
ORA-01830 date format picture ends before converting string.
Also, i want to compare this time stored against time a little later, say after 1 or 2 hrs to get number of minutes.
How can i do this? I hope, my question is clear. Please help in solving the doubt.
    regards.

  • How to format data for a custom group

    Hi all
I have a pivot table with Actual and Budget as columns and some accounts in the rows. Since I'm using the account hierarchical column, I created custom groups for the accounts using the Selection steps pane. For example, I created a new group called Profit to combine 3 different Profit accounts and display one Profit line.
Now I want to format the data for the Profit group. I right-click on the Profit group, choose to edit the group and click on the Format button on the bottom left corner. I add some formatting, e.g. borders. When I now view the pivot table, borders have been applied to the label of the group - so the word Profit is now bordered. However, the values in the Actual and Budget columns do not have a border. Don't know what I'm missing, but I want both the group label and the values to be formatted the same way.
How can I apply formatting to the data/values for the custom group?

Yeah tried that already, it formats the entire column whereas I need just the values for the Profit row to be formatted. Seems it is a limitation only when using custom groups?

  • Z10 Voice Control speaks in US-format date for Uk date

Issue: UK format date 02/08/13 is "said" by Voice Control as "2nd August" - the date is in the calendar correctly as 8th Feb.
Steps to repeat the issue: "Schedule new appointment" using the Voice Control and add an appointment today (8th Feb 2013) - correctly added to the Calendar but the voice confirmation says "2nd August".

Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
To better assist you I have a couple questions:
When you go to Settings> Voice control> Is the Language set to English UK?
Go into Settings> Language and Input> What is the Display Language and Region set to?
    Thanks.

  • Change format date for Calendar Prompt!!!

    Hello there,
For a date prompt when I choose *"Calendar"* in my control, the default format shown by the calendar is d/mm/yyyy.
I want to save the value of my date prompt into a Presentation variable with the format yyyy-mm-dd. What conversion function can be used to achieve this?. In oracle the easiest way is TO_CHAR(dateHere,'YYYY-MM-DD') but when I apply this in the Edit Formula of the prompt it gives me an error.
I know the date format for a Calendar object can be changed in the configuration file, but I want to avoid this, because I might affect other users.
    Please help.
    Thanks

  • Formating Data for Read from Spreadsheet

    Hello,
I am trying to read data with the function Read from Spreadsheet. Can I do this with a file in Excel? I saved it as a .csv file, both tab and comma delimited and neither work. Does this function truely read from a spreadsheet, or does it need to be a text file? What is the correct format for this data?
    Thank you!
    Attachments:
    bridge_data_1.csv ‏16 KB
    read_spsheet.vi ‏73 KB

You need to set the "delimiter" input of the Read from Spreadsheet vi. Wire a string constant with a comma in it and you should be fine. A .csv file is really just a text file anyway.
The other problem that I saw was that you set the "transpose" input to true, this caused the data to be stored in the array across two rows, when your code was looking for it to be down the two columns. Change that boolean to false and you should be all set, it works on this end at least.
I hope this helps. Let us know if it doesn't!

  • 10 KS/S data for 28 Channels

    Hi All,
From the field I have 28 channel sensors data, the data rate is 10KS/S for each channel.
I have to store field data upto 3 Month to generate the historical reports or to analysis the field conditions.
The data is very huge so i want some suggestion from you all to store this much of data techinique or prefered way to store this much data.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
The project requirements are already define by the costumer. The costumer wants complete 10K data of all 28 channels. He can't afford the less sample rate or data loss.
I tried with TDMS file to store 10 KS/S (SGL Format) data for 28 channels(Sine Wave); the file size is around 3.5 GB for 1 hour. The complete day data come around 84 GB, I am not sure about the TDMS file size this can support upto this much of file size, if this not support then again I have to save complete day data in set of bunch of TDMS files. Now if costumer want to see complete 1 hour data report in graphical or tabular format the task to perform the action takes around 2-3 minutes or some time it come up with some error like "Not Enough Memory". So in the end of the day if user want to see the complete day report how I can provide the report that have such kind of huge data.
I am using PXI RT system with some local hard disk. The PXI always have 7 days data as an backup or in case of connection failure with server the data backup is in PXI.
So my issue now same what database or file format i have to chosse to store complete data.
If there is any techinque to compress the data please suggest me.
    Thanks and Regards

Could you please let me know if any function modules are there for the above questions in BW not in ABAP, why i mention is some Function modules are there in ABAP but not in BW.

    Hi ,
1.If your input date format is MMDDYYYY then Use SDATE as conversion routine in trans strucutre to convert into YYYYMMDD.
2.By passing year as input parameter for the following FM you would get all the months with text.Using READ statement in routine you can get month name
    MONTH_NAMES_GET
3.For Quarters you can use the following FM:
    TSTR_PERIODS_QUARTERS
    hope it helps...

    Raju

Do we need to format data and log files with 64k cluster size for sql server 2012?
Does this best practice still applies to sql server 2012 & 2014?

Yes.  The extent size of SQL Server data files, and the max log block size have not changed with the new versions, so the guidance should remain the same.

  • Default format pattern for Date and Number

    Hi everybody,
I'm finding it very hard: my java app runs on Tomcat 5.5, I'd like to format dates and numbers with a specific format. For example: with Locale it_it date format is "dd-mm-yyyy", my wish is to display "dd/mm/yyyy" without changing the Locale (it_it is correct). Is there an env variable to set?
    Thanks.

How cai I set with a proprerty? Like -Ddate.format="dd/mm/yyyy" -Dnumber.format="###.00"?You could do that.
Then fetch it from your app and feed it to SimpleDateFormat.

    Hi,
Sorry, we do not support a matrix-question field.   Please try the multilines text field (where your participant can enter multiple lines in the input text box) and see if it works for you.
