Formatting Questions about Quiz Answers

Hi all,
I'm in CP5 and working with a multiple answer slide.
1. I'd like to not have any numbering associated with my quiz answers. Is there a way to turn this off completely? There's no option under Quiz Properties, General, Numbering.
2. No matter what I do, the baselines of the checkboxes, numbering and answer text don't line up. Is there a way to make them look nicer on the stage? I've already tried manipulating the height of the text in the text field.
3. There's a big gap between the checkbox and the numbering. I'd like to move the checkbox closer to the answer text. Is there a way to do this?

Hi there,
Just to add to Lilybiri's, excellent post. There is actually a way of removing the numbering from Adobe Captivate question slides, though 'right off the bat' I must stress that this will require you working in XML &I haven't tested this to see if there is any negative impact on reporting to an LMS. If you are comfortable with this, then please carry out the following steps:
Exporting your Adobe Captivate file as XML
1. Open your Adobe Captivate quiz file.
2. Choose Export > To XML...
3. Give your file a name.
Editing the XML file
1. Open the XML file in text editor or if you have the Adobe eLearning Suite open it in Adobe Dreamweaver.
2. Locate the line of code that reads as follows:
<g css-style="font-family:'Myriad Pro';font-face:'Regular';color:#000000;font-size:22.0pt" ctype="x-cp-font" id="1103-10088-1-1">1.</g>
3. Remove the "1." from between the start end ending <g> element.
4. Repeat this step for the rest of the Questions in your project.
5. Save the XML file.
Importing the XML
1. Back in your Adobe Captivate project choose: Import > From XML...
2. Select your XML file
3. Click Open
This should result in the question numbering being removed from your Question Slides. However, as I pointed out at the beginning of this post, you should test this both locally and in your LMS to make sure that this does not impact on your SCORM reporting.
In addition as you can see from the XML code I included below, Adobe Captivate is using inline CSS to style Question Slides.

Whilst there is a line-spacing property when I tried reducing this to 0.5, when I imported the XML back into Adobe Captivate this didn't make any difference. It would appear that internally Captivate treats 1.00 as a fixed limit.

I got an answer and I replied with a question about the answer, does no show in unanswered questions. I guess replying was not the way to get another anwer, How do I do that?
He said - Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox.
I want to know - Will I still have my bookmarks, history, addons, plugins, etc.? I do not know what plugins and such that I had. What about my pinned tabs and my tabs that where open.
More information - When I try to start Firefox I keep getting the message that I need to restart my computer in order to complete a previous update attempt. I had Sweetpacks on my PC and I do not know where it came from, it took over my home page in Internet Explorer and Ithink caused the issue with Firefox.
Should I do the clean install or try starting Firefox now.

You won't lose bookmarks and other data in the Firefox profile folder as long as you do not remove personal data in case you uninstall Firefox.

Question about Quiz Screens in Captivate 2

Is it possible to add an image to a quiz screen? I want to
make an assessment in Captivate using some of the quiz question
templates, but I want to add an image to it so the user can look at
the image for reference. Is that possible?
Or would it be better to create a scenario based learning
environment?

Hmmm, for that, I suppose I'd simply create a blank slide and
insert the image. Then insert your verbiage advising what the user
should do. I'd do that using Text Captions. Lastly, I'd insert a
Click Box object on the slide surrounding the area I want them to
click. Then configure your scoring and feedback as desired.
Voilà! No Question slide needed.

Question about exporting FBL3N data in Pivot table format

I have a question about the "exporting file" function of ECC 6.0.
We started to use ECC 6.0 system, and it appears that we are no longer able to export "FBL3N data" to a local PC in pivot table format.
Is there a way to do it?
We used to be able to do so when the system is 4.6.

Dear:
You can do that. Execute report FBL3N with desired GL account in it. After when report has been executed right click on it. There will be an option Spread Sheet. Select all available format. In drill down select 08 (Excel in existing XXL format) and press OK. There you will get pivot table option for downloading., Hope this will help you resolve your query.

First, don't specify the package path in the argument
declaration. Instead import the event object:
import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent;
The docs state this emphatically.
Second, try "lastResult", in place of "result":
arData=mx.utils.ArrayUtil.toArray(event.lastResult); // I am
not positive about this. I maybe recall reading that result was ok
for the event object, but maybe not.
Finally, why do you want to convert the xml? You certainly
could, but it would be a manual process, recursively reading the
existing xml nodes and building the new structure, but again, why?
Just use a labelFunction if necessary to display the nodes as
you wish.

Question about Multiple Choice Quiz

I have multiple choice quiz that I'd like make more complex. The quiz is based on a movie clip with a series of questions on different frames and the same set of answer buttons on each frame (no keyframes on the answer button layer). The user clicks a button to go from one question to the next. There’s a scoring mechanism that displays the number of correct answers (score), the total number of answers clicked (right or wrong), and the percentage of right answers.
For each question, only the first answer counts toward the score. If you click correctly the first time, a point is added to the score and to the total. If you click incorrectly the first time, a point is added to the total only. After you give the first answer, right or wrong, you can still click on all the answers to see which answer was correct; the correct answer button changes in appearance and the correct sound cue plays but no point is added to the score or total. If you click on a wrong answer after you’ve given the first answer, the incorrect sound cue plays but no point is added to the total. In other words, you can’t help or hurt your score after clicking on the first answer, but you can determine which answer was correct.
This all works fine.
But now I want to make a similar exercise that has TWO questions on each frame. The answers both come from the same set of answer buttons. The question is how to preserve the “only the first click counts” mechanism for each of the two answers, since clicking on the answer to the first question will mark the frame as “answer has been given” and prevent any further scoring. There needs to be a point given for each correct answer on the frame.
Here’s the code from an answer button in the existing quiz. How would I modify this to allow for two answers per frame?

This is indeed a very random issue. I have seen this in earlier versions of Captivate as well. I always create my template files from the blank theme, so I don't think it is specific to the theme.
As for solutions, sometimes changing the quality of slide to high worked, other times just reopening Captivate worked. Here are some of the solutions I have found on these forums:
1. Create one more answer than I need (ie for a 4 answer question, create 5 answers) and then delete answer B.
2. Uninstalled/reinstalled my Captivate 6 software

A couple of questions about Local Variables
1. Programmers always say: “Do not abuse of Local Variables”. I’d like to know, when and where Local variable are most efficiently used?
2. If I have to create a couple of local variables, is there anyway to “clone” them without going through the repetitive “create/local variables” mouse click each time? (When I try to copy and paste, it creates a new variables instead of the one that I am trying to reproduce)
3. Which is faster in execution: Updating a variable through a) writing to property node/value or b) through local variable

1. Use Local Variables in user interface code and no where else. The only exception is using a local variable of a cluster output to define the datatype for a bundle by name node.
2. You can drag copy them then right click to get to a menu of all the currently defined controls and indicators on the VI.
3. B. The problem with A is that it forces a thread switch to the user interface thread--which can take time if you aren't already in it, and it's a very convoluted process under the hood. NI's advice never update indicator values through a property node unless you absolutely, positively can't figure out some other way of doing it.
