Forms 10 and PL/SQL: Using a server package variable

Hi,
I have a variable created at package level in the server,
When I try to assign its value to a Forms item, I get an error.
"Unable to access distant package variable".
What should I do to access this variable?

You said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.

How to deploy Forms, Reports and Menu from Client to Server machine

Dear Experts,
I have one requirement to deploy the Forms, Reports and Menu from client machine to server machine.
Deployment involves the following steps :
1. Firstly we have to search the selected file in a folder where the .fmx is present ( in Server machine) and take the back up of the the existing file in the server (Source and destination paths will be available).
Ex. If the existing FMB name is TEST.fmx then the backup file should be TEST_sysdate.fmx.
2. Secondly we have to transfer the file from the client folder (or from another folder of the same server) to the server folder where the back up exists.
Please help me to search/rename/copy/replace the _.fmx/.rdf/.rep/.mmx_ files from client to server.
We are using
9i Database.
10g Forms and reports.
SQL Developer tool.
OS is Windows (Client and Server).
Help me out to attach a file of front end screen which we are planning to develop. It will give a clear picture on this requirement.

Welcome to the forum. Please take a while to go through the FAQ to be found to the top right of the page.
Your issue is more to do with batch files rather than Forms. The only relation with Forms, as I see it, is that you will be using HOST/CLIENT_HOST to start a batch file with the file name to be deployed as a parameter passed to it.
You need to rewrite either a CMD batch file or a Powershell script to achieve what have set out to do.
For CMD batch files look up http://www.robvanderwoude.com/battech.php , or any of the other excellent resources available on the internet.

Failed to search the log and log repository using Application Server Contro

I installed the OAS 9.0.4(10g) and tried to use Application Sever Control to search the log files or log repository. However, each time I clicked the Search button, the error page showed the following messages:The operation cannot be performed because the page contains expired data. The data will be automatically refreshed so you can try your operation again.
I checked the emias.log and something like following existed:

Pros and cons of using email sending package in oracle 8.1.6

i would like to know the advantages /disadvantages of using email sending package from oracle 8.1.6
compared to sending the same using say perl or php.
iam developing a site in php/oracle8.1.6 , in which iam supposed to create a payement module.whenever a user
register(for free trial or subscribing the site) i'll have to send him a welcoming mail.In addition to this iam also supposed to find out wether subscribers are paying cash at right time and if not send them reminder mails and other for related scenarios . i can do the same in Perl or PHP.but if iam not gaining much(say based on server performance or load) then i think i can go ahead with oracle package. when i tested it i found that its slow . what about the load that it may cause for the server (ours is linux ).

Creating data and .par files using SWIFT Integration Package

I have a requirement to generate a data and .par file using SAP PI Integration package for SWIFT.
I am following the SAP Note: 1303428.
I have created 1 sender and 2 receiver comm channels(one for payload and other for par). Used operation mapping SWIFT_payload_parFile_split in the Interface determination.
I am using the adapter module : localejbs/swift/FileActConversionToSWIFTModule and setting the parameter DetachParameters to true. This adapter module is being used in all the three channels(1 sender and 2 receivers).
I have used ASMA ans has set the FileName checkbox.
Now after placing the file in the input directory, the file with the same name gets created in the output directory but the file is exactly same and also no .par file is getting created. I have set the Empty file handling to Ignore, so it shows that there is no data to create a .par file and only payload file is getting created but the payload file is exactly same.
Also if I use the adapter module : localejbs/swift/FileActConversionToSWIFTModule in only the sender communication channel, a payload file gets created like below.

But while creating the par file, it shows that the file could not be overwritten and so the .par file is not getting created.
I need to understand that:
1) How do I configure both of my receiver channels i.e. what should be the difference. Currently, I am just setting the
same Output directory in both and file name schema * and has used ASMA with FileName parameter. So same name files are getting created and so one file gets discarded. How to create a .par file.
2) Also Is the file above is the correct file required by SWIFT.
3) Also when I check in SXMB_MONI, I can see that after running the adapter module same payload as given above is going in both payload and par files i.e. also if I am using different names in my receiver communication channels two files are getting created payload and par both are having the same payload. So what exactly should get created.

I am able to generate the .par file by setting the localsecurity to true and the KeyId from the key manager.
Now two files are getting created .xml and .par. .xml file which is the payload file is the same as the input file with no difference and contains both the overrides and the data parameters. The .par file contains the Algorithm and the Value.
Is this correct?
Also suppose the input file name is SEPA.xml, then the payload file is created with the name as
SEPA.xml and the par file is created with the name SEPA.xml.par. I need only SEPA.par. How to achieve this.

HCM Process and Forms - Create and End record using the same form scenario

Hi All,
I have the following requirement while using HCM Processes and Forms: Using one form/scenario I need to both create a record or be able to end a record for infotype 841. When looking at the back-end service SAP_PA I have operations Create, Change, Change without delimiting and Delete. My requirement would be to do both a create and a delete I guess, but these two can't be selected at the same time while configuring the form scenario.
I was thinking about doing somethign with the startdate and enddate instead of using the effective date. But I have no clue how to do that.
How would this be possible?

You are correct in assuming that you cannot have a create and delete on the same infotype. The config will not allow it. Instead, configure the create and then do the delete via a call to you own method in the workflow or via the advanced generic service

Essbase and MS-SQL on same server

My organization is attemtping to consolidate servers, and to that end we would like to run MS-SQL 2000 as well as Essbase Analytic Server and Essbase Admin Server on the same Win2000 server.Does anyone know of any problems with this setup -- beyond the fact that data access will be decreased depending on number of users who connect to either SQL or Essbase? I'm specifically wondering about the effects that mySQL and tomcat will have on MS-SQL. Thanks.

The only issue I can think of is the one you alluded to - the more stuff you have installed on one box the less resources you can allocate to each of these servers.If you plan to just do development with this box, its not really a big deal but if you will have lots of heavy usage on Essbase and SQL Server, you don't want them fighting for resources and disk space.I run Essbase, SQL Server and EAS (with MySql) on my laptop and they all work fine - there are no issues with them running on the same box aside from having to share a limited pool of resources.Regards,Jade-----------------------------------Jade ColeSenior BI ConsultantClarity [email protected]

Drawing for text and string fails using X server(xsun) xlib

I have sparc system and Iam using xsun on solaris 10 and ps -ef | grep
-i xsun gives this:

Now I am trying to use XDrawString and XDrawText for simple one
character drawing but to no avail as these calls don't generate
anything. All line generation and bitmap are rendered correctly on the
virtual frame buffer to generate a tiff file.
The same set of calls are working great on sun 2.6.
What can be the problem? I can't seem to find any solution to that?

Now I can login as root in single-user level.
I installed NVIDIA-Solaris-x86-169.12.run driver file successfully.
I used the /usr/X11/bin/xorgconfig command to create a basic xorg.conf
file. After reboot it locked up when I tried to start the graphics login.
From what I have read I need to use kdmconfig to change from Xsun
server to Xorg server but when I try to run the command kdmconfig I
get the message kdmconfig not found.
New Questions:
1. Where is kdmconfig located and how do I start kdmconfig?
2. Is there some other method to change from Xsun server to Xorg server?
3. In single-user level what command do I use to startx?

ClassCastException, and we *are* using "-Djbo.server.in_oc4j=true "

We have several applications using the same BC4J objects running on the same AppSer (Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE 9.0.2.0.0, running on Ibm AIX 4.3.3).
Each time we deploy a specific application, all OTHER applications get ClassCastExceptions, like
"java.lang.ClassCastException: <myPackage>.<myTable>ViewRowImpl"
We DO start OC4J with the -Djbo.server.in_oc4j=true option.
Any ideas?

I already tried this, but the getClass() method reports exactly the class as I am expecting! To be more precise:
I am executing the following code:

Now, at line (1) the console reports that the object type is is 'com.centraalboekhuis.cbonline.model.VCboLookupArtFeViewRowImpl'. Note this is the "impl" class that implements my VCboLookupArtFeViewRow-interface. I am not casting to the "impl" class, as the Bc4j manual tells me I should use the interface instead (which makes sense). So, I am casting to an interface reference type, which my class implements. Should work.
However at line (2) the following ClassCastException is thrown (see below). It tells me my object is not a VCboLookupArtFeViewRowImpl. But I now it is, as my debug statement tells me it is. Again, I am casting to an interface type, but VCboLookupArtFeViewRowImpl implements this interface type, so this should work. As a proof that it indeed works I can demonstrate that when I deploy my application all works fine, but when another project member deploys his application, my application fails with the ominous ClassCastException.
So, what is happening here?

FF change single quotes in query string for their url-encode form (%27) and I need use single quotes (I don't care about derivated security problems)

When I try to enter a url like:
www.example.com?owner=alex's
the actual URL the FF send is:
www.example.com?owner=alex%27s
I need the first option and I don't know hoy to configure it. Could you help me?

I think that RFC1738 is outdated and you should look at RFC3986 section 2.2: 
"URI producing applications should percent-encode data octets that correspond to characters in the reserved set unless these characters are specifically allowed by the URI scheme to represent data in that component. If a reserved character is found in a URI component and no delimiting role is known for that character, then it must be interpreted as representing the data octet corresponding to that character's encoding in US-ASCII". 
I think that in this case there is no special delimiting role or "reserved purpose" for the character to allow the unencoded use. So I think that the behaviour of Firefox is correct.

Your question is more related to batch programming.
From what I understand, you want to add 100 [ :o ] jars to the classpath to execution and you probably don't want to write all the names in the batch file. There's a simple way of adding jars by running a loop. The code should look like the following:
dir /b "%LIBDIR%\*.jar" > temp.tmp
FOR /F %%I IN (temp.tmp) DO SET CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;"%LIB_DIR%\%%I"

Multipart/form-data and file attachment

Hi ,
This question has probably been asked before, but if not then here it is. Any replies will be appreciated:
Q. When using "Enctype=Multipart/form-data", with file attachment alongwith other form fields, is it mandatory to attach a file ? What if user selects no file to attach?
Q. If no, then how can it be possible that a form can be submitted without attaching a file since when I try to submit a form with no file attached to it, it gives me error message saying :java.lang.NullPointerException
Q. Does it mean that I can't have a form with a blank "File" input field, if the form's Enctype is "multipart/form-data"? Since users may not select a file to attach to the form, in other words it is an optional.
I hope I was clear enough in explaining my questions.
